Since 2006, when we needed a new circuit board, A-Action Cooling and Heating has only earned more of our trust. It was 10:am, the morning of Jan 18, 2024, just an hour after making a desperate phone call. During 18 f degree icy rain and snow/ice covered streets, the owner himself showed up knowing our family had no way to heat the house. He took a completely locked up (bad bearings) Draft Inducer motor and imo, MIRACULOUSLY!!! got it spinning again, and so far, still working perfectly several days later (going on 4 since date of review). He could have easily pushed for a VERY expensive new motor (and parts about $800.00) install, but didn't!!! It was at that time, and due to the 25+ age of our furnace, it was right then and there, both my wife and I decided it was time to schedule a new Furnace install. Recently requested service of my system, I have a gas furnace and heat pump. They arrived serviced it, I found out later that only my furnace for ~300 dollars for a little over a half hour of work. I definitely think 300 dollars for a yearly service of my whole HVAC system is reasonable, not for just the furnace. Since spring/summer is coming, now I have to get the heat pump checked. Called to get a furnace checked. It was frustrating giving my information to the person over the phone as they were incredibly slow at writing down my information. I was shocked when they actually showed up as none of my information was repeated to me and the employee seemed confused over the phone. The employee checked my furnace and told me he would send me a quote. No quote was ever sent. Then he chilled in his van in front of my house for the rest of his allocated time. read more

If possible I would give this company a minus score. We contacted Action to come and look at our ac unit. Fist the technician foun motor was bad . So he had to order new motor. The whole time he was here he mentioned how they only work on Trane units. Rescheduled after new motor arrived. This time same technician showed up sick.Hacking and coughing the whole time. Asked to use our bath. That was a big mistake. Now we were told we needed a new fan blade. That had to be ordered. Ran it . it was ok. A-few days ago when weather was warm went to use ac. Fan would not run. Called a different company to look at ac. He found when cover was replaced last time fan motor wire was pinched. New fan motor was shot. Since the beginning they have been professional, responsive and reasonable. Last week when one of the rental's furnace quit working, Dan came over promptly and fixed the problem. A-Action installed my Rheem HVAC system 20+ years ago. During that time, they have kept it running with yearly maintenance and parts due to wear and tear. I didn't want to got through another winter with a furnace in it's "golden years". I recently had Tim's installation team put in a completely new Trane HVAC system. Gerald & Jr. did a wonderful job. Furnace went out last Thursday, called A-Action and a tech came right out, diagnosed the problem but the cost to fix was high and the unit was 30 years old. We were saving of a new furnace so we went ahead with a Trane 2 stage, variable speed furnace. They returned the following Monday and installed it. They even lent us a space heater to keep the house at about 65°. The installers were knowledgable, effecient and clean. During business hours they actually have someone ansering the phone. We connected with A Action during last year's cold snap in November when we saw 23 and 25 degrees. Our furnace quit working. I called our service company that we had for 20 yrs and was told two weeks. I told them this was not acceptable but still it was two weeks. If I could give this company a 0 star out of 5 I would. After spending 8 days in the hospital and mourning the death of my daughter, we came home to a broken furnace. The last thing we needed. I decided to call A-Action Heating & Cooling because they had previously installed my furnace in 2020. After speaking with the customer service rep and explaining my situation, I had a technician named Levi Pennington stop by to diagnose the issue and fix it. I told him I was hoping to have the furnace repaired so I could keep my pregnant wife warm during this chilly weekend. I greeted him when he arrived and relayed that it was crucial to get the furnace up and running as we were grieving our little one. He interrupted me and said "Yeah...yeah...yeah..." After 10 minutes in my garage I decided to ask him why he felt the need to be so insensitive, he replied "What do you want me to say? I don't have any kids". What type of person says that? It's 2021, are you for real? Do you not have a heart? Is there any compassion? Apparently not. I kindly asked, how many technicians work for A-Action, he replied 7. I was contemplating having another technician come out as we shouldn't judge a book by it's cover (the company). He was very rude and said I should be grateful he sped right on over. I decided to ask him to kindly to ***k off, and to leave my property. He stood there for 3 minutes trying to recover, he told me to never call A-Action again and that they would never do business with me. I asked him if I could speak to his manager, and he relayed "I am the manager". Oh you are? Way to represent your company. I do not recommend using this company at all, they employ very distasteful people who have no heart. I decided to call other companies and explained the situation that had happened. I called First Call Heating & Cooling and spoke to their rep Lindsay, she was very kind and down to earth. After hearing my story, she was able to move around times and they will be servicing our furnace first thing in the morning. She also offered a discount as she felt my emotions over the phone. It was refreshing, there is faith in this madness. If you need a quality company, don't use A-Action. My mother-in-law was so furious, she called the company right after. Last year our Whole house AC unit died in 95F heat. A-Action provided the best value for us with a quick quote for only the necessary replacement AC unit and evaporator coil, confirming that the existing furnace unit was in good shape. They also helped with a low price quote on a replacement filter box for our old, poorly designed filter. They installed quickly and sticked to their quote despite some complications with the ducting to fit the filter box. I'd absolutely call them again when we need HVAC help! read more

2021 review: Been using A-Action Heating & Cooling to service my furnace and AC for the past 15 years. Needed to replace the 20 year old Trane AC this year so I naturally asked for a quote from A-Action, along with another local company. Brett gave me a very competitive quote and answered all my questions. Del and Scott did the installation a couple of days ago, and they were professional and friendly. The AC installation passed the city inspection (no surprise there). Highly recommend A-Action, great people and great service! Update: this summer has been unbelievably hot, with 90+ and even 100+ days, I would not have survived with the old AC unit. Also, wanted to thank Brett for helping me fill out the EnergyTrust rebate, I just got the check today! 2024 Update: TLDR: I got a new furnace from A-Action to replace a 23 year old unit! The long story: The 23 year old furnace decided to die on a cold Friday night in March, at the same time pumped some nasty smelling air into the house. It smelled faintly like fish, and I vaguely recall reading "rotten egg smell = gas leak, fishy smell = electrical fire" so I frantically checked every outlet and switch in the house, and even went up to the attic to check on the furnace; luckily all was well, but I was terrified to turn the furnace back on. The weekend was still cold so that made the evenings challenging (but builds character!) Sent a "help!" email to A-Action Sunday night and Alicia contacted me first thing Monday morning. Scheduled Dan to come out Tuesday, and he quickly identified the issue and fixed it, but I was thinking a 23 year old furnace is probably due to fail, since it's always a cascading failure. Brett came out and gave me an estimate on two options, and it was a very competitive quote from my google search online for a typical installation of Trane furnace. Jerrold and Junior did the install the following Monday, they were great as well. The new furnace is 95% efficient vs the old one at 80%, so that will also reduce the gas/electric bill for running the furnace/AC. My furnace broke down in late November of 2023. After calling 4 companies, of which all were booked for weeks, I finally called A-Action Heating and they were able to send out a technician within 2 hours. They did diagnose the problem (all they had to do was clean out the fan) but they were totally unprofessional. Their technician did not arrive in a company vehicle, he stunk like cigarette smoke (as an ex-smoker, I know that this can be avoided), he was so chatty that he wasted an hour of my day, and he did not have a mobile payment method so I had to call into their office and divulge my credit card information. After all of that...they called me FIVE MONTHS LATER to tell me that the credit card information was processed incorrectly and asked me for my credit card information AGAIN! Even after talking to the owner, who did not even offer me a discount for their mistake, I was made to feel like my payment was severely overdue. IT WAS NOT. I gave them valid payment information, received an email receipt along with verbal confirmations from BOTH the receptionist who took my credit card info AND the technician before he left my house. I should have, at the very least, been offered a discount for their mistake that has caused me such inconvenience. They couldn't even get the date of service correct when they sent me a letter asking me to "bring my account into compliance". I'm not the one who should be making sure the payment gets processed correctly. It should be the person who processes these transaction EVERY DAY. When you don't even realize that you didn't get paid for 5 months, something is seriously wrong with your business! Find a reputable business and avoid this one at all cost! read more

We called A-Action on Monday am before listed opening time; and they came out that day and installed a new furnace. The two technicians worked until 7 p.m. It was such a blessing because the next day it was 32 degrees in the evening. I've used them three times for various issues with our HVAC system at home and they are top notch. Levi is an absolute walking encyclopedia of knowledge about these systems and I found him a pleasure to work with. I learned a lot from listening to him and watching. My Trane furnace stopped working so I went to the Trane website and found A-Action Heating and Cooling under their Service Support for my location. When I called A-Action they quoted me a reasonable service charge that was lower than others plus they were able to send a service technician on the same day. Levi showed up on time! He was able to quickly figure out why my furnace was not working and ordered the failed Gas Valve within a short time. When he came back (within our agreed time) he installed the new Gas Valve fast. They (1) offered a fair price on a Trane unit, (2) they had said unit in stock, and (3) they were able to install within a week (in the midst of the hottest summer ever). My AC condenser wouldn't turn on. This company was the first available. Said they would make it 7/5 for sure but something came up. Settled for the 6th. Couldn't be there while they did diagnostic, but apparently they pressurized the system with Nitrogen and determined that the leak was irreparable then walked away altogether; didn't remove Nitrogen so a 2nd opinion was moot. Didn't provide a replacement estimate. Found that the cost was $250. Got to speak to the owner who places absolute trust in his techs so don't question the quality or thoroughness of his outfit. My heating system developed a whistle. It became loud enough that I called A-Action heating. 12-6-22. Was told they needed replace the ECM motor, and it would need to ordered. The invoice from the visit states "ordered motor from supplier", and that "factory order 7 to 14 days". I called 12/14 just to see if the part was in yet, however it was not. I'm stupidly optimistic but realistic. It was the holidays. Ok so I waited until 12/22 and called them for an update. I was told, get ready, drumroll please: THEY NEVER ORDERED THE PART,AND BTW, THERE WAS ONLY ONE LEFT AND IT WAS GONE. WENT TO SOME OTHER LUCKY CUSTOMER. I WAS SOL. Once they realized what happened Alicia etal went into high gear to find my part, again. They found one, ordered it. The new motor was delivered and installed on 1-4-23. In September I turned on the furnace and found out that the ignitor had gone bad. It was continually clicking and would not ignite the gas. The furnace was sensing that it was flooded with gas and would switch off like it's supposed to do. I removed the ignitor and took it down to A-Action to get a replacement part. Their site claims they have parts on hand. When I got there they didn't have the part, and couldn't find it since I didn't have the furnace model and serial numbers. They asked me to email it to them and they would contact me back. I went home and did so. When I got back my wife pointed out that we had had this exact issue only two years ago and it cost us nearly $800 to fix then. Internet reviews of that particular furnace showed it had a number of known issues anyways and wasn't that great to begin with. So I emailed A-Action the model number, the serial number, and also told them we wanted to get a quote to replace the furnace. The next day I got an email back with price for the ignitor and a call to schedule a time to give a quote. The ignitor was $85.95. I found it online for $25 and replaced it myself. Unfortunately the problem continued. When the lady showed up to give me a quote, I told her that I went ahead and replaced the ignitor but the problem continued so we wanted to go ahead and get the furnace replaced ASAP. She did all the measurements, got into the crawl space to look around and promised to send the quote out ASAP. I waited a week for the quote and then called up. She had been out sick and would send me the quote ASAP. I waited another week, called up and left a voice mail. There were also a couple of email followups, where she apologized and said she'd get me the quote ASAP. I never actually got a quote though. I ended up getting a quote (and TWO furnaces,) from another company. read more

My AC was cold but not pushing air. I assumed it was the blower and called for repair. The Tech came out and said the problem was a bad thermostat. He said to get one at home depot since he didn't have the kind I needed. Of course he charged the fee for the visit but since he didn't have a thermostat it was not working when he left. My husband got a thermostat and installed it. AC behaved in exactly the same way. So we called back and asked them to come out again. We had to pay another service charge despite the fact that he didn't fix the problem the first time. This time he refilled the Freon even though he said it wasn't low. Then he tested the system... same issue. He told us the ducts needed to be clean and left! When the furnace is on air comes through the ducts just fine. Just not the AC. I opened the door to the crawl space and it was freezing cold in there. I still think it's the blower but I am no expert and the tech said that was not the problem. So I paid over $800 and they fixed absolutely NOTHING!! Terrible service go somewhere else!! read more

They came out first and did not have the boards they needed to fix the problem. Then the Owner came out and solved the issues with a third board replacement. All is good now. System was installed in 2012. Great to see them stand behind the equipment they installed. Update: AAction continues to do a good job maintaining the system they installed. Owner came out and performed a thorough routine maintenance and cleaning of the Furnace and AC Systems. I would not let anyone else touch the equipment. Owner is very knowledgable and we are now all set for Summer Season. read more
