AVOID these scammers!! Set up appt through Home Depot because was told they were waiving the $99 diagnosis fee, "even if I don't have the work done". When they called to schedule, told me it would be $99. I explained what the person at HD told me... nope, ONLY if they do the work THAT SAME DAY. I questioned whether they would be able to..."yes, they have completely stocked vans". Turned out they couldn't do the work that day since of course, they don't carry all parts for every furnace in their vans, so I called and asked if they would waive the $99 since it was THEIR FAULT the work couldn't be done that same day when I had the repairs done?Nope. Insisted the work had to be done the same day. Definitely a scam!! I am not having them do the work even if it is cheaper because I won't use this type of business. read more

My annual AC maintenance/tuneup performed by Hunter was, true to form of all past service calls=truly the past being prologue! Not only did Hunter arrive a bit early--which I always appreciate for service calls--but he wasted no time getting to the task at hand and completed the work within the expected timeframe. I've been with Columbia Heating & Cooling for many, many years and have never had an issue or costly repair--the true mark of a company and its employees doing their jobs at the top level. Hunter's engaging personality, helpful suggestions (especially replacing the huge pressed board cover I leave on the top of the exterior AC unit at end of season until restart the following year--with a mesh cover!) and overall 5 star customer service and support was in keeping with my expectations. Also, my rescue dog, Penney, and he took to each other immediately which is always a good sign for me! Why change to a different contractor if, when it's working at a 5 star level, there's really no reason to change?! I still encourage the owners to offer a Veteran discount (with Veteran proof of status provided, of course) in addition to the seasonal tuneup pricing as we disabled vets, who are most likely senior citizens living on a fixed income, would really appreciate the additional $ help! A lot of promises but no follow through. We entered into a contract in November 2024 for the installation of a new heatpump. The contract included Columbia's replacement of two attic exhaust fans. They later claimed replacement fan motors could not be found. They never did that work and I had to get another contractor. The heat pimp leaked and they did not fix it and despite my requests they never fixed it. And no refund made for the uncompleted work. read more

Just another shady HVAC company trying to overcharge people. After A-Temp Heating & Cooling tried to charge me over $300 for a $15 part, I contacted Columbia Heating & Cooling (AKA Integrity Air). I asked them if they mark up the price of parts, but they kept dodging the question. After some pressing, they eventually said they do mark the price up but refused to tell me by how much. Huge red flag there! I told them the specific part I needed replaced but they refused to tell me how much they would charge for the new part unless I pay them $109 + $48 per 15 minutes for someone to come out and take a look first. Why can't they tell me the price of the part until after I pay them a bunch of money? It seems obvious to me they're going to jack up the price of the part and don't want to tell me the price beforehand because they know it's way overpriced. I requested an estimate for 2 duct issues: one, to insulate the return duct in my attic, and to strap up a separating section of supply duct in my crawlspace. The estimator came, went up in the attic and down into the crawlspace. To my surprise, he told me I did not need either job done! He said my return duct in the attic is already very well insulated, and he found no section of separating supply duct in the crawlspace! (A tech from a different HVAC company previously told me I needed these jobs done.) Thank goodness, Travis at Columbia is an honest man. I can't say enough good things about him and about the character of Columbia. I highly recommend this company. read more

I bought the house last year and the heating was not working right. It keep reboot the thermotat if I increase the room temparure. I called Columbia using the receipt info from previous owner. The technician came out and charge us $771. for just tell us that the air return to the furnace was block. I told him that the Columbia was the one install the system. He left with no receipt or any paper report/recommendation. No one contact us for any report/recommendation/estimate. I can not believe that the company complete ignoring us because they did not do a good job first time. I saw a previous post which mention this is a new business owner. Inquired on getting a new AC unit added to an existing furnace. This business was vetted on the NW Natural Gas website, so it was easy to trust this business. Staff was friendly and professional. Getting a quote was easy, I put an inquiry online, and got a response the next day. The office staff coordinated with me on getting an appointment setup through text. Some times the texting was bothersome because I was busy and away for a work trip, but they were able to accommodate my busy schedule. Great follow-up by this team. Travis was the individual who provided the quote. He was attentive on what was needed and provided many options to fit the budget. He answered most of my questions, even before I asked them. He was very accessible to answer all my questions after the quote was provided. Top notch customer service. Ryan and his team were the individuals who installed the new AC and furnace units. They were all friendly and prompt to the appointment. They were great at communicating timelines. Ryan was able to answer all my installation questions and also explained how to maintain the new furnace and AC. They moved the items in the garage, which I thought was great! We called Columbia Heating and Cooling out to do maintenance on our furnace. The person that showed up was a sub-contractor with Integrity Air, not a Columbia employee, so far as we could tell. They did a maintenance check on the furnace and said it was in decent condition. We may need maintenance on one part in a year. Oddly, the furnace stopped working less than 24 hours after the visit. I called Columbia back, and after the tech came out again, we were told we needed a $550+ part to get it working again, and the timing was a "coincidence". read more

As a long-time customer, I asked Columbia to perform a pre-summer air conditioning tune-up. They sent someone who had previously worked on my furnace system and who was very familiar with the equipment and procedures--and he did a very thorough, excellent, and timely job. The only reason I said they didn't respond quickly was because their technician was on vacation so I needed to wait a few days for our appointment. It was worth the wait! I had another company come look at our heat pump before Columbia could come out, and their tech determined we needed a new fan motor for our unit and they quoted us $1100.00 to replace it. Sam from Columbia came out today, looked over the unit and determined we just needed a new capacitor - $145.00. He installed it on the spot, and now it works just fine. Ok, I don't usually rant toooo much on here, but wanted to warn everyone against this company's bad business, so here goes- Sooo... Columbia Heating and Cooling... Top on my list of businesses with shitty business practices, ultra poor customer service, a complaint against them on the BBB site, and am surprised it's just one so far considering the trail of bad reviews with the same complaints. They were supposedly bought by new owners a little less than a year ago, but still have plenty of same complaints after that to show that they just continued doing the same shitty business as the previous owners. Our new (at the time) furnace and heat pump were installed by Columbia 6 years ago, no copy of contract given, and no manuals or paperwork given except registration paper (so at least they did that). Our outdoor unit's (heatpump) compressor went out after a year and a half, so we called Columbia and were told sternly that the compressor wasn't covered. As we didn't have paperwork, we unfortunately took their word for it and moved on to get it repaired, as Sheri was going through cancer treatment at the time (Summer), and needed the house to be cool. New compressor installed by someone else (because we didn't want to pay Columbias $160/hr rate. That was $2000 out of pocket. We did it and moved on. Fast forward- A/C heat pump stopped working again last week, but had another friend (has been in furnace/ac biz over 30 years) come over to look at it, as we knew Columbia wouldn't do anything, just like last time. Turns out a screw head had rubbed a hole on the condenser coil in a spot that couldn't be repaired (poor design). But THIS time Sheri was able to dig around and find a document that showed that our unit DOES have a 10 year warranty on all parts, and specifically listed, is the compressor that Columbia previously told us was NOT covered. So, I call Columbia again and they 'look into it'. Told them at this point, we've written off our $2000 loss caused by them, but would like them to replace the part and we shouldn't have to pay labor, because that's what a GOOD business practice looks like and they already cost us $2000. They asked if I wanted them to send someone out to check the unit (even though I already had someone out). I asked multiple times, trying to get clarification that they would not charge me for that either, but no one there could seem to answer that, so I finally agreed to have them send someone but only at no charge. So they set the appt and sent out a tech. Then before the tech left, he said he needed to collect $119 for the call. I refused and called the office and they said they'd get back to me and could bill if necessary. After about 4 days of feet dragging, they finally called me back (after I leave a message threatening to go after their bond, file a complaint with the BBB, and call the licensing dept if I didn't hear back by the following day), and told me that they weren't covering labor, or refrigerant, and they couldn't just order the part unless they were the ones installing it... oh, but they did waive the $119 for the service call that they couldn't tell me if I'd be charged or not. Again, looks like ownership has changed, but shitty business remains the same andnin full force at Columbia Heating and Cooling. DON'T DO IT read more

My mom recently woke up to a non-functioning air conditioner and so she decided to call Columbia Heating & Cooling, a service that she had used previously when a similar problem had occurred. The previous experience had gone well because a good employee had been sent, and the experience had been good enough for her to call back when something went wrong. However, the guy that was sent out to help with this problem was not of the same caliber of worker. First, he reset the thermostat and went to hose off the outdoor air conditioner unit. Following this he explained that he needed to replace the starter unit for the air conditioner. It was never explained what the unit needed to be checking in at after it was read at 38. We were told it may not start and needed to be replaced and when the new unit was put in, it read at 40. After this, he came in and the gave the bill over and it read for 95 dollars to even show up, another 93 dollars in labor. The material cost listed in the bill came out to 439 dollars for a total of 627.99. The cost of the starter that I learned later has a retail priced to be between 60 and 150 dollars. This was pretty blatantly taking advantage of the situation and taking as much money as possible for something like this. None of the prices were explained and none of the process was explored, no options were given. This service man just came in and went about doing a bunch of things that he just proclaimed and then charging an absolutely exorbident fee to be done. None of this was made better by the behavior of the service man while he was here. All in all it was a terrible experience and an even more terrible cost for it. I have a service contract with Columbia Heating and Cooling. I had an emergency over the weekend and called them. The answering system seemed broken but I left two messages then emailed them. No response over the weekend and no response today, one day after the weekend. I called today -- the same dysfunctional answering system. I wonder if they have gone out of business or simply do not wish to incur the expense of living up to their advertisements. Very poor service. read more

This company has not been good at warrantying their work. We have spent almost $15000 in new ducting and new HVAC System. Our house does not cool or heat well and Columbia Heating and Cooling will not come fix our system. Our HVAC system is about 15 months old and on a 90 degree day it is 80 degrees in our house. The ducts have very little pressure and the system is not efficient. I have called more than 12 times and have had more than 6 service calls to fix many issues with my system. I do not recommend this company to anyone. All I have asked is for them to fix the issues with my system and now they have taken away my warranty. Please do not use this company. read more

One very cold morning recently our seventeen year old furnace fired up along with a loud constant noise. We called Columbia Heating & Cooling Inc. in Tigard. They said they would come over in 2 to 4 hours. Gerry arrived right on time promptly diagnosed the problem and ordered the needed parts. Early the next morning he returned and installed the new parts. Now our furnace is working very well ! We hope this furnace will last another ten years. We found Gerry, Simi and Alisa very good people to work with. read more
