Parts Dept. review , soo.....I drove to A&L BMW with my old parts , got to the parts counter with my old parts in hand (2 exhaust gaskets and 2 round head splined exhaust bolts ), Gave the parts counter person VIN # and told him these are the parts that I need to order , He said ok , no problem and I paid $8 extra to have them shipped to me when the parts came in ( I live about an hour north ) ,when the parts were delivered I took them to my mechanic and it turns out that the bmw parts guy ordered the wrong bolts (the gaskets were correct), so I made another trip back to the bmw parts dept and showed them the bolts I ordered and the bolts that they sent , (like comparing apples and oranges , totally different). After about a ten minute discussion with the parts guy telling me "we'll ...thats what the computer says" and both sets of bolts on the counter in front of his face clearly different ( bolts he ordered were hex head Non-Splined bolts and my old bolts were Round head Splined bolts laying right there side by side ) and what really is the icing on the cake is that he insisted on charging me a 30% restocking fee for The WRONG PARTS that the BMW parts dept guy ordered!! Went to A & L today to look at a BMW. Pulled in front in my Subaru & went into the showroom. We were in there for about 10 minutes. No one even looked our way including the receptionist. She never looked up from behind the desk. Were we ignored because we didn't drive up in a Mercedes??? I guess we will never know because we will NEVER EVER buy a car there now. Gary got me seated and checked in with ease and had me out of there in a bmw loaner in no time flat. A&L has serviced my cars since I bought my first Jaguar in 1977. Then there was a break in having an XJ as a daily driver, but it was back to A&L in the late 90's. I grew to know and respect Tom, the Jaguar mechanic, over the years. He is very knowledgeable and occasionally when I had to stop in for some minor thing, he would take a few minutes and adjust something on the spot with no charge. The write-up staff always kept me informed. And I have to say, I've never had an occasion when the car was not returned cleaner than when I took it in. The sales staff always greeted me, even though I did not know them, and particularly Mario, the manager. They're into developing long term relationships here. Recently, I moved across the breezeway and purchased a certified BMW 650ix drop top (my long years on the British side) from A&L and cannot say enough good about the whole process from Steve, the owner, on down. Everything seemed to be orchestrated for delivery of the car. The finance woman was very knowledgeable and efficient in explaining everything. The program that A&L has to cover dings, glass chips, wheel scuffs etc is really an attraction. I have already recommended salesman Walter Lamory to a friend. The BMW "wizards" always ask if I have any questions when they see me. John is great. After spending 2 hours on my checkout in the car to make sure I understood all the systems, I said I'd put him in the trunk for a reference source. The car has been in for some cosmetic and a camera replacement and the BMW service reps could not be more helpful, Ryan in particular. Josh in the cashiers office has always been friendly---though I've not had to pay him anything lately. What could be improved---have some complementary soft drinks around like other luxury dealers. But if that's the only complaint, I'll keep going to A&L any day. read more

Had my BMW serviced here back in October under warranty. Whole thing was pretty smooth - staff was nice, didn't try to sell me anything (unlike in some of the other reviews that I read, which made me apprehensive about going to this dealership to get my car serviced). It did take a little long (2 hours) and I wasn't able to get a loaner because insurance didn't cover it and the dealership didn't have the option of purchasing temporary rental insurance like my other dealership did Cali. Will be going in again in a week for my 2nd car service. Will update if anything changes. read more

Terrible service, both from sales staff and service personnel. Staff yells at you for even being near some of the more expensive cars. When we were test driving cars, one of the salesmen made extremely insulting remarks about our old car. We had to request someone else help us. We ended up buying our car there because we couldn't find it elsewhere. The sound system has major issues which they've failed to fix 3 times, including once with the aid of some guest "expert." Now we have VIP service and we go there to have the car cleaned, and you can't even tell it was cleaned, super sloppy job. I know it might be hard to believe they are so bad, especially considering all of their "awards" but there is literally no reason to go there. They are awful, especially for a luxury brand dealership. read more

I know to expect to pay top dollar at a luxury car dealership. However, at A&L I get the feeling they have their hand in my pocket. The prior time I went there for state inspection and a few other things my charges were about what I expected. However, my car was exempt from emissions inspection and they charged for the full inspection. It took some discussion with them to get an adjustment. I admit this is trivial and I would not bring it up except it becomes relevant with my last experience. This time I had my car inspected at the shop that has serviced my cars for 30 years. It needed tires and rear brakes. The shop discovered they could not change the brakes because it required a BMW proprietary tool which they did not have. I had to take the car to the dealership. In addition to the brakes, they claimed I needed rotors as well. (It would pass inspection at the previous shop). This made the $200 estimate I had at the original shop grow to $700. I was over a barrel and authorized them to go ahead. I was then called saying they didn't have the rotors in stock and they would have to keep the car overnight. The next day they called and said they received the wrong part and it would be another day. My one day, $200 job escalated to 3 days and $700. I am willing to pay for better quality except even there, my brakes still squeak and there is static on my AM radio when I apply the brakes. Other than that the experience was fine. The staff was polite and attentive. read more

Purchased my car here, but was having it serviced at Sewickley BMW only for convenience. Took it to A&L yesterday, and they blew Sewickley out of the water! Fantastic staff who are efficient and friendly, quick turn around time, good WiFi connection so I was able to work, and comfy leather chairs. They even washed my car and mats! Sewickley never did that, not once! A&L service is the best place to go, they are worth the extra drive. Most importantly, the staff is phenomenal. Well done A&L. read more

If you decide to purchase a vehicle at A&L, which is not recommended, don't be persuaded to purchase the appearance package (to "repair" scratches on car or small cracks in windshield for 3 or 5 yrs). This package is a complete scam. I have taken my car in for buffing out small scratches 4 times. I had to return each time as they don't even touch some of the scratches which are clearly identified with a paint pen. On one visit, the car had more scratches when I picked it up as compared to when I drop it off. The scratches from each visit still remain on the car. A&L appears to be unethical in relation to this package. Don't waste your money like I did. read more

If I could give them no stars, I would. I've been bringing my Ranger Rover to A&L since 2015 for oil changes and other issues. However, they NEVER manage to fix anything. The most recent one, which was the final straw, had to do with the back brakes that they replaced last year as part of their recommendation. We paid a hefty amount to have this done. The very next day the brand NEW brakes started to squeak with normal pressure and it only got worse. There was absolutely no squeaking at all prior to this. They "lubricated" them at the service appointment but this merely covered up the problem and only served as a temporary band-aid. My husband parked my car last month while I stood and waited outside watching. It was then that I realized how loud the squeaking really was and at that point I decided to call A&M AGAIN. I dropped the car off last Thursday and it's still in their possession because apparently their technician called in sick. However, I got an email from them today and this is what they said: "As far as your brake noise my tech was only able to get them to squeal on him once and it was when braking downhill and was coming from the front brakes. The front brakes measure at 5/32 of an inch so there is a little bite of life left on them but only way I could fix that would be to replace them, so you could have them replaced which would cost $739.70 plus tax or you can ride them a little bit longer and get the rest of the life out of them. Brand new brakes start at 13/32 so at 5/32 I would say you have a couple of months left probably." These people are completely dishonest and unethical. They keep coming up with new bullshit diagnoses to have their customers shell out more money. Just unbelievable! Not only have they wasted my money but they've wasted so much of my time! Will never step foot in this place ever again! read more

We bought 2 land rover's from a/l at close to sticker. Almost $140K spent on cars and I can assure you the service has need the WORST!!!! We recently dropped a car of for body work the week we where out of town. This was arranged in advance and we where told that a week was plenty of time. Now we find out the part for repair had not yet arrived and they would have it another week. They, the GM, told us they could not offer a loaner because they are not reimbursed by corporate for bodywork. I am glad we bought 2 cars, can't imagine how bad we would be treated if we bought only 1. Highly recommend another dealer read more

Car scratched during the service / inspection I sent my 2014 X3 for Service on Aug 6 in the morning, and picked it up on Aug 7 in the morning as well. When I picked it up, the service guy who asked me to sign the paper work didn't offer to walk through the car with me (but only asking me to sign). It was part of my problem that I then didn't check the car carefully (but this shouldn't mean they could abuse my trust on them). After I parked the car in my garage at home and tried to load something into the trunk, I noticed a couple scratches and two dents in the rear bumper. They were pretty visible and I am 100% sure they weren't there before I turned my car in for service (and the service crew never told me this as well). I called in immediately and the representative said the manager will call me back. Then they got back to me claiming they have pictures with the dents/scratches when the car was in. However, it was so suspicious as: - they refused to send me the pictures - they did't call me when they first *found* this I sent them my pictures of the dents/scratches and was asking for their original pictures, got refused. I didn't udnerstand why they just didn't send me those photos, and denied their fault read more

Got a brand new 428 in October from George at BMW. He was absolutely great until the sale went through and then became an impatient douchebag! I'm soo annoyed with his attitude. Can't believe we wanted to get a second car from him. He is incredible rude on the phone, makes you wait 10-15 minutes, and then has the nerve to give me attitude! Pays absolutely no attention to what I'm saying... Ughhh beyond disappointed. Never called to find out how the car is nor did he ever send a card in the mail - not that it matters, but it's the little things that get your attention. I dropped my car off for an oil change and to be checked for other problems. It went in with a brand new set of tires and came out with a different set of mismatched tires that are bald. I spoke to the service manager Bob Henninger about this and as he scoffed at what I was saying he refused to give me information I asked for including the name of the technician who worked on my car or the name of whomever is over him. I have proof that my car had a brand new set of tires before it was serviced there. What they did was have me sign a paper saying that I wont drive it because of other issues. I was under the understanding that what was said about the tires had to do with wheel bearings or whatever keeps the tires safely in place not the tires themselves or I would have protested on sight. They switched my new tires and replaced them with bald tires. I was taken advantage of for a few reasons. I'm young, I'm female and my car is an older model. I'm going to leave race out of it even though I believe it is a factor. I doubt that any other person with any opposites of why I was taken advantage of would have had this problem. He basically laughed me off and wished me luck. The report that they had me sign was of course written after the car was looked at in order to be able to write a diagnosis. My brand new tires were swapped during the diagnoses so that they could include the tires as a problem in the waiver. Now, the issue is being waved off. I'm so disappointed and disgusted in this company. According to my research it is a highly reputable company in Pittsburgh which is why I chose them. Only to find out they would allow something so low as to swap out a customers tires. Also, when I started asking people that have actually been there I was told that they are selective with who they greet and approach on the showroom floor (I've experienced this.) and that they are even slower to accommodate African Americans read more

I recently moved to Pittsburgh and had been disappointed with my previous BMW dealer in Shadyside. I had heard great reviews about A&L and decided to go there. I took my car to them and spent almost $1500 on issues they identified as being the problem. Two days after getting my car back, the same issues, which I had taken the car for started to occur again. I immediately called them back and I was told to bring the car back. I expressed that I should not have to waste my only day off driving to Monroeville for an issue, which was not taken care of the first time and requested that they pick up my car and bring me a loaner. I was immediately told that I was not considered a "VIP customer" since I did not purchase my car from them. I had to escalate the situation and asked to speak to the service manager. After a good 1-2 hours of my time, the manager called me and sent someone to pick up my car. The point is, they treat customers different based on where you have purchased your car. They also don't take their time to fully inspect the car and identify issues that need to be fixed. It almost makes me wonder if they actually even do the things they put down on paper and charge you tons of money for. They care too much about keeping their "5 star" reputation and want you to rate them high by constantly reminding you of it during your visit. I had planned to buy another car from them but it seems like that wont happen anytime soon. read more

I am a 52 year old professional woman who went to look at the bmw 7 series cars for a new lease. my jaguar xj8 lease just ended. there were male sales people sitting and gabbing up a storm and the receptionist went to tell them twice that I was still waiting but they didn't bother coming out. Clearly they thought I was not a "real" possible buyer. They were very wrong and I have had similar experiences with A & L Jaguar next door. A stands for arrogant and L stands for Lousy. I just had my BMW inspected and repaired costing me $1,600, which wasn't the issue. BMWs aren't cheap but I expect better than the people they have driving my car around the lot breaking the hazard light button, cracking the center console, and taking snapchats of themselves driving my car! And now they claim they didn't do work in the car, sure but someone had to have been in the car at some point whether it was a valet or a mechanic, someone broke that button! read more

Terrible experience overall. Sales was good. Everything after was embarrassing for any dealer ship esp a bmw dealer. Took over 7 weeks to fix the headlight in my 335i from a simple accident only 4 weeks after buying my car. Had to pull teeth to get a simple call back from Gene Piano. By then my 90 day used car warranty had expired (manager refused to extend after THEIR long repair time), my fog lights now have an incredible amount of dirt in them from my bumper being removed the whole time, the bumper margins are crooked, I now have a big old ding on my passenger side door( was NOT THERE BEFORE BEING LEFT AT A&L) , and now my brakes shake my entire steering wheel. I had requested an alignment and the cashier informed me Gene never had it done. I asked for him to call me regarding why he never aligned my vehicle. (that was 4 weeks ago, still no call) BUYER BEWARE !!!!!! My father was headed to buy a land rover here and after my experience i told him to go elsewhere! read more

When you go to buy a luxury car, you expect service that is becoming of the brand and its reputation. It's disappointing that although I was willing to pay cash for the car I wanted, and was ready to settle the deal as fast as the dealer would let me, I simply got jerked around and put through hoops. I went on a business trip with my father in allentown, and we had been looking for a car for some time. We found one on cars.com and went to see the dealer in Allentown PA, who provided us with great and professional service, but regrettably could not sell to us, as our ZIP code was out of their permitted selling range. They suggested that they transport the car to the closest Land Rover dealer to my home, which is A&L and we agreed. A few days later I had negotiated with A&L and we came to a handshake agreement that the car would be shipped over, however they said it would take up to 10 days. It's barely a 4 hour drive from Allentown to Monroeville. I am a customer willing to pay everything up front and buy the car as quickly as possible, so I wondered why it would take so long. After two days of waiting the dealer then emailed me a picture of what was supposed to be a PDF of the sales agreement which I gladly signed and emailed back to them. Then later today I received a call from the dealer saying that they were no longer interested in selling to me, AFTER I had put down a 2000 DOLLAR deposit (500 is standard for a car of this price) AND signed the agreement. No explanation on their part. Do not give these unprofessional excuses for car salespeople your time, because even if you come to the door ready to buy in cash, it seems they're not interested in doing business with you. The most confusing and just bad customer service I have seen from a luxury car dealer. read more

Used Car Buyer Beware-The staff are super friendly. I bought my first car with AL 2 years ago, immediately had issues with the car. Little things, trunk wouldn't open, they went out of their way to fix. Then car senor would go off with the car parked when it was raining, and I just dealt with it. Then when it got cold, when you turned the heat on it made a loud squealing noise until the car heated up. So, I went back to AL and decided with all the issues I would get another car. Bought it and took a huge hit on the depreciation, but just wanted to be done with it. Bought that car and had issues with the muffler rattling. They serviced it and said that was how the motor sounded. Immediately following I had pulling in the car and ended with a flat. I bought a new tire and just thought no big deal. Well the noise in the muffler got worse, so I brought it to a different dealer. I was informed I needed all new tires and alignment. I had only had the car for a few months and only put on 5k miles. Long story short, I had a car fax done and the car had been in an accident with structural/frame damage. Called AL and they said they pulled the car fax, but it wasn't on there at that time. So now I have a car that not only depreciated but has structural damage. Huge loss. They tried to work with me and were going to give me Kelly Blue Book for another trade it.... but I already took a depreciation hit from my first purchase. To be where I want to be in payment, I would need to get another used car...and end up with an even larger car payment. I am going to cut my losses and find another dealership. Not giving them another dime. If nothing else, they could have got me to break even. read more

Jeff was our sales consultant. From the moment we walked into the dealership, I felt totally comfortable and at ease unlike so many previous automobile purchases. Jeff knew the X3 inside and out and from top to bottom. I had many questions and if he didn't have the answer he immediately found someone that did. We received a super discount from A&L and BMW so I was sold. The sales and credit process were fast and efficient. They took less than an hour. Terrible service experience and an awful, pitiful attempt to casually name or out a buyer based on a 1 star review. Bob Henninger signed a comment from Brian L. of A & L BMW which I would like to respond to, since I'm sure Bob's next post will name me as an owner as well. The purchase of the certified pre-owned car that needed a lot of service in an unacceptable time period for a certified pre-owned BMW was made because of our sales rep, George Donnelly, and his promise that A&L's service was second to none in Pittsburgh. We had discussed some service issues with a dealer in Oakland (P&W BMW) and George assured us A&L would not ignore phone calls, etc. so service would not be an issue. I should also note George let us know P&W was going to go out of business so it was probably best to avoid them in general. Savvy. Anyways, to anyone looking to purchase a certified pre-owned I advise to shop around and shop on price because service is not something to consider based on our experience so far at this dealership. I have owned 2 BMW's prior to this most recent one and my next import will be from another dealer or from another brand. read more

They have terrible service and are unprofessional. Once they get your money, they don't stay behind their product. I recently purchased a new Ranger Rover from them and within the first month I had to send my vehicle back twice for repairs. The first time had to do with the computer. The second time had to do with my back passenger door leaking during heavy rains. After having my vehicle for nearly a month their manager emailed me, "I can say there is no fix for your Land Rover." So, they returned my vehicle today without fixing my leaking door and without offering any remedy. Instead of returning it fixed they returned my "new" Range Rover with curb scrapes on my tires, a scratch, dirt and weeds inside and specks of what appear to be white paint on the back seat and rear door (my vehicle is black). So my new Range Rover doesn't look very new any longer, but instead looks like someone used it for four wheeling and pleasure for the month that it was supposed to be being repaired. The man from the dealership that delivered my vehicle back to me had no explanation but agreed that damage has been done to my vehicle. When the manager was called today about the condition that my car was returned in, he was very unprofessional and just screamed that he's had my vehicle for almost a month and doesn't want it any longer. Do NOT purchase a vehicle from them! read more

I have been buying Ranger Rovers for over 25 years now. I was always a customer of Bobby Rahal, but his time they could not get the truck I wanted, but A&L could. I should have waited. From day one the VIP service we paid extra for at A&L was non-existent. When you pay $130k for a truck you expect decent service. You do not expect them to return your truck multiple times having not fixed the very things on your hand-written list. This last time they have had my truck for over 17 days for minor repairs, days go by with no communication unless we initiate it. I honestly do not understand how Range Rover has a contract with them, but they should not! (That is our next letter.) They are terrible at representing their product and even more terrible at servicing it. We should have done more research on this dealer before buying there. I just want anyone else out there to know what they are getting into before they spend their hard earned money at A&L. It is frustrating and very disappointing. read more
