We did a long distance move from Redondo Beach to the Bay Area. The communication was good and calls and emails were alway responded to in a timely manner. On the day of the move we realized all of our things did not fit in one truck. So another was sent over within a couple of hours time. All items were packed and made its way to the Bay Area almost immediately. On delivery day they showed up as scheduled and quickly unloaded. We did have a few items that were damaged. The guys did phenomenal job! Vitaliy, Arthur and Sergey showed up on time and moved my entire apartment + old storage into a new bigger one. Below is a break down to give you an idea what amount of work was done, how long it took and how much it cost: 1) 9x5 ft old storage all filled with stuff from bottom to top. The items didn't need to be packed, they all just needed to go to a new storage 3 miles away. 2) 2 bedroom apartment (movers had to pack EVERYTHING themselves and move to the new storage 3 miles away). 3 guys did ALL of that within 14 hrs: - 10 hrs to pack and move the apartment to the storage. - 4 hrs to move stuff from storage to storage. Total was $2257: - moving service $1890 ($135/hr x 14hrs) - $300 tips - $67 lunch and water for movers. It ended up quite pricey but considering the amount of work performed and how HARD these guys worked - it was totally worth it! Plus there were NO hidden fees. On top of it Vitaliy, Sergey and Arthur were all VERY NICE people! They wrapped big items carefully and boxed smaller ones. They managed to fit it all into 10x20 storage even though there was no hope at the end of the day that all that stuff would ever fit. The day of the move, I received a call that the crew was about 20 mins away... 3 nice guys, showed up and had me moved out & in within 4 hours. I hired these guys for my 1 bedroom/bath move-- because I know I have a lot of items in my kitchen, I went ahead and packed a lot of items myself to speed up the process-- I even hired a 3rd mover! Unfortunately, these guys were not only late, but also SLOW! I moved only 1 mile south to another 1 bedroom apt..but it took these guys 4-5 hours just to even partial pack and move my place! I want to start off by saying my husband and I used this company a couple years ago and they did a great job which is why we hired them a second time and I know this company has great reviews all around and mine may seem odd in comparison but I just feel the need to let everyone know what happened to us. I am going to simply state my exact experience on Sunday. I booked this company 2 weeks in advance to move our 2 bedroom apartment from Long Beach to Fountain Valley and our garage items to our storage unit in Huntington Beach. Simon was very nice and offered me a 5% discount as we were returning customers. He sent me the confirmation that stated they would arrive between 10 am and 11 am. My husband and I asked all our neighbors to move their cars to the street to give them plenty of room and had all of our stuff ready to go in the living room and out back in the alley of the house by 10 am. By the time 11:15 came around I made at least 3-4 phone calls to the company which all went to voicemail. When I finally reached someone around 1130, the guy on the phone said they would be there any minute. At 12 pm I was getting extremely irritated they were so late and I again could not reach anyone at the business. I even tried writing an email. Shortly after 1215, I received a phone call from one of the drivers, who was very hard to communicate with. He said they would be there at 2:30. 2:30. WTF. Thats when I was really upset. Finally Ivan, the manager called me and tried to tell me all this crap about how the call center can't communicate with the drivers and they didn't know there was a problem with the truck and blah blah blah. I told him I don't care, it's your business and it's not my problem how you run it. Anyway to wrap it up. They finally got there around 240 and followed my husband to the house. Well that's what we thought. The drivers didn't get to the house until THIRTY MINUTES after my husband because they STOPPED TO GET A DRINK. At this point I had no words. It was honestly unbelievable and so inconsiderate. They didn't finish the job until nearly 6 and we were scrambling to throw our 1 year old sons room together to get him to bed a decent hour and didn't even get our bed set up until almost midnight. What was truly upsetting was the fact that no one called me to let us know they were running late and it was nearly impossible to get a hold of anyone until i got the personal number of the manager, who didn't exactly act remorseful or like he understood the gravity of the situation. After negotiating with the manager over a discount, I finally said we will pay you for the 3 hours we contracted with you, no drive time because they stopped and wasted our time and you will discount us 30%. He agreed. I am embarrassed that I recently referred this company to a friend and she had a similar experience and then the drivers had the audacity to ask for a tip. While we appreciated the discount from Ivan I would've been happy to pay full price to have them there at the time they gave us and I would've rather tipped them for great service than write about how they ruined our day. I was so pleased to find our movers showed up right on time, 9 am on the dot. Unfortunately, things went downhill fast from there. I was so excited to finally move out of my place in Lawndale to our new house in Manhattan Beach. All our stuff was in boxes and stacked in the living room, the animals were taken to another house so they wouldn't be in the way - we were ready to go. My boyfriend signed all the paperwork and they officially started the clock ... then proceeded to stand in the driveway while one of the guys was on his phone for about 10 minutes. He came back in while we were wrapping up a few odds and ends and notified us that he couldn't do the job because of the cat smell. He's allergic to cats. Sorry, we need to find new movers and they'd refund my deposit. And just like that, they were gone. So there we were, stranded on Super Bowl Sunday with a house full of boxes, our clothes packed away, beds stripped, etc. And now we had to find new movers at 10 am for that same day. Needless to say, we didn't. We had to spend the night at my mother in law's since we now had two houses that were unfit to sleep in. Today my boyfriend has to take off work (unpaid) so he can be home for the new moving company we found. I will admit that one room was pretty smelly from the cat, hence why I was so excited to move to my new pet-friendly home with all tile flooring! But I cannot imagine this was the first time these guys moved a house with animals. At the very least, find a different guy to take the place of the one with "allergies" or pop an Allegra and suck it up for a couple hours. Don't strand us on our move day with a half assed apology. My husband has had a few job relocation's, so we know a great moving company when we have one. I have to say, Local 'N Long was just "ok". They did their job, and it was good, but when you have had a prior moving company that does a great, great job - then the bar has been set. The pros for this company were that these guys were on time. Yes, they were polite, but my husband and I have a few issues with things that took place during this move... First off, we had a majority of our belongings moved the day prior by ourselves and other help we had so they were left with a love seat, refrigerator, washer-n-dryer, a King/Queen bed set, and 2 double beds to disassemble. We also left my kitchen items to be packed. We were prepared for the movers, and had the AC set to 76 so it was nice and cool for them. Within the first hour of the movers packing, I walked in one of the rooms to find one of the guys sitting on one of the beds...I must have caught him off guard so he asked a dumb question..."Oh, will you be taking the TV stand? ..how about the TV??" Uh, yeah..really dumb question. They wrapped cellophane on a few goods such as the bedroom set, and dressers, but, as they unwrapped the furniture after the move, they left balls of the cellophane on the floor. I asked them "Are you guys going to be taking these?" The lead guy told me, "No. You paid for it." C'mon now, really?!! So I did have to pick up after them. Unlike the previous movers, Camelot Movers in Valencia - who, in our eyes, are "the Superstars of All Moving Companies," who hustled, were on-time, and moved A FULL HOUSE IN 10 HOURS including driving time from Valencia to Carson and back o Valencia, and also disassembled/assembled all of our furniture!! LaL Movers had inadequate packing methods which created a lot of anxiety. Keep in mind, we did move only 6 months ago and provided these guys with most of our boxes, and some of these boxes were for my paintings. One of the movers took one of my Thomas Kinkade paintings valued at over $2000 and just placed it over some of the furniture in the truck. Are you kidding me? I asked, "Aren't you going to wrap that?" He said, "No, it'll be fine since it is placed carefully on top of the other furniture." ....UGH! I have to say, it did arrive safely, but that had me worried with a high level of unnecessary anxiety. There were a couple dings on my walls from when they were bringing up the headboard to our bedroom. If I had not asked them how they did with moving the bedroom furniture, I am not sure if they would have admitted to the dent in the walls. They pointed out one, and I found the other later (on my beautiful newly painted walls!). Overall, these boys did work hard, but we felt they were inefficient. I called to have my empty fish tank and stand moved from my 3rd floor of my home to the 1st floor. They said they don't move fish tanks because there too heavy. I explained to the woman that I was speaking with that the tank was empty, including the sand and water (incase she somehow misunderstood). She repeated again that they don't move fish tanks. If you don't move empty fish tanks, I'm assuming that they wouldnt move my 7ft oak tv lift because of the weight! A moving company that does selective moves based on weight of items!???? I even received an unexpected discount the second move that solidified me as a 3rd time user. We will be undergoing another dual move in about 8 months in which I fully anticipate using this company again. It was obviously the movers who made it special. They worked hard and fast, never complained or made me feel like they were annoyed with my requests during the move. They were flexible and hard workers. I originally hired 2 movers at a fixed rate of $85/hour (cash) for 3 hours minimum this past weekend, and I must say the experience was INCREDIBLE! This rate literally includes EVERYTHING: the truck, shrink wrap, blankets, boxes, dollies, industrial belts to tie down furniture, gas, no limitations on stairs. They gave me an arrival time between 9am-10am (which is what I asked for), and what time did they show up? 9:01AM! Not only were they incredibly punctual, but they also showed up with a 3rd mover at no extra cost! Not to say that this will happen on the regular basis, but I suppose I got lucky! Andy, Alex, and Nick were the guys who helped me with my move whom were all so friendly and considerate when handling my furniture (they use LOTS of shrink wrap to protect your property). Although I hired them for 3 hours, they were so fast and efficient that my entire move was done within just a little over an hour including the disassembly of my queen size bed AND drive time! Since they had some time to spare, they even helped me load my excess furniture into a completely separate Enterprise Rental Truck that I used to transport elsewhere. Contrary to what your company claims on your website (locallongdistancemoversredondobeach.com), Local n Long Distance Movers did NOT provide "superb customer service" or "expertise." Our move was no more than 15 miles and consisted of belongings from a 1 bedroom apartment that was 95% packed and had disassembled furniture before the movers arrived. Despite the pre-packed, organized, and easily accessible items, it took the movers FOUR hours just to LOAD their truck. A detailed list of items within the apartment was also submitted beforehand and the office quoted 1 truck with 2 movers; however, it was stated by the workers a few times that it should have been a 3 or 4 man job. The movers arrived LATE outside the scheduled arrival window. When they finally started working, they were slow and unorganized in their packing/loading methods, even though boxes were already marked with room locations. The movers' attitude and comments were disrespectful to my family, the contents of my apartment, and to their company for not sending enough people for this job. In contrast, we've had experience in the past with a two-man team from another moving company completely pack and load a two story house (3 bedroom, 2 bath, 2 living rooms, and a full kitchen) without so much as a complaint and in almost the same amount of time these movers took to complete the job. To top things off, the job was incomplete and we ended up being overcharged: 1) they did NOT reassemble the furniture at the new apartment; 2) as per the price quote, this move did NOT exceed 15 miles and should NOT have been charged for the 50 minutes spent in rush hour traffic on Pacific Coast Highway. The website also states that they offer discounts to military but the customer service representative did not know anything about any military offer when asked over the phone and did not offer to live up to the online statement. We kept a detailed time log throughout the move. The actual amount of time worked was 7 hours, however the movers did very rudimentary calculations and charged us for 8 hours and 50 minutes. Again there was no offer to review or honor the claim for discount to the "Military and the Elderly." The movers also constantly spoke in their native language throughout the job, which normally would not be an issue since we understand the need to communicate in order to work more efficiently. However, when it came to completing the payment transaction, they continued to speak in their native language instead of ensuring both the workers and customers understood what was being charged. After not being able to contact the home office to conduct the transaction, the lead mover, David, took pictures of card information with the intent to process it later. We had to remind him to delete the pictures in front of us after he finally made contact with the office to run the payment over the phone. Overall we were extremely dissatisfied with the services provided and would strongly discourage against anyone looking to conduct a local move utilizing the services of Local N Long Distance Movers. read more

The three guys were so nice and professional. They took really good care of my items. I lived in an apartment with an elevator which caused some issues with trying to move my king bed.
