I moved recently and worked with California Moving. They provided e-mail reminders prior to the day of the move. They gave me a two hour gap of when they would be arriving and thankfully they came 30 minutes after the start window. Once it was the day of the move I received a text and e-mail that they would be arriving shortly. The movers had wrap to protect the furniture and blankets to the protect the more delicate items. I had a really great experience with California Moving team today. All four movers were professional, polite, and just easy to work, hands down, from start to finish. All of them were very careful with everything and would check in and ask questions when needed, which I appreciated. You can tell they take pride in what they do, everything was wrapped and handled in a way that made me feel comfortable that nothing would get damaged. They were also super efficient without being careless. They worked well together and kept things moving without it feeling rushed. I was very eager to hire California Movers again after a wonderful move in March 2023. Unfortunately, this time was quite the opposite. Communication before the move seemed fine--we confirmed an 8-10 AM arrival window and discussed picking up a refrigerator on the way (which they said wouldn't incur any extra charge). I did notice they didn't send a confirmation email like they did previously. I reached out the day before to confirm, and they said I'd get a 30-minute heads-up the morning of. By 9:40 AM, I still hadn't heard anything. I texted them and was told they'd arrive at 10:30--already past the promised window. When they arrived, they rushed in and began moving my couch without wrapping it. When I asked, I was told, "You asked for a low-budget move--no time for wrapping." This was not at all like my last move, when everything was disassembled and wrapped with care. The main mover said he'd contact the manager, and I also called the number I had. I later learned he was the owner--so there was no one else to escalate concerns to. My husband ended up helping wrap some furniture just to keep the move going. After loading, they went to pick up the fridge (I wasn't there). When they arrived to the new home, the owner claimed I told him it was a one-door fridge--which I never did. Unloading felt rushed and not professional. When they opened the truck, I noticed my dining table wasn't wrapped properly. When it didn't fit through the door, I asked for it to be disassembled, like last time. He said, "That's time," and asked my husband to do it. Since my husband had to leave for work, they eventually did it themselves. My newly renovated walls and floor molding were scuffed, and a nightstand damaged a corner wall. The refrigerator also scratched our front door. They offered to come back and paint, but I declined. To make matters worse, the owner stopped unloading with three items left and demanded payment, claiming it was "California law"--which is untrue. I offered to pay half now and half once finished. He refused, it was clear that he was worried I wouldn't pay after seeing how upset I was. As someone five months pregnant, this was especially stressful. I also asked him to reattach the bedroom mirror, he had hostage in his truck, to the dresser, which he said would take extra time--but he did end up doing it before leaving. After two years of recommending them to friends and family, I sadly can no longer do so. This experience was unprofessional, stressful, and disappointing. read more

Out of all my moves, this was my best moving experience. The guys were true professionals and really knew how to make a move easy and seamless. Coordination was also good ahead of time. I also felt that the rate was very reasonably priced, especially given how efficient they were. I originally booked 2 movers but last minute I wanted to change to 3 movers, but they said the extra mover wasn't available. However 3 movers showed-up, so not sure if it was a fortunate mistake was made, but it worked out for me. The movers arrived slightly behind schedule, but not unreasonably so, since I wanted to move in the late afternoon. I was very stressed about the move because I ended-up having a lot more stuff than expected, but they made the experience a breeze. I was also impressed with how easily they disassembled and re-assembled the furniture. When they arrived at the house I was moving to, they were extremely careful with the house and treated it with respect, taking off their shoes on the carpet every single time without me asking, which I was very impressed by. My furniture and belongings were all in good condition, nothing went broken or missing, things were placed exactly where I asked. Of course no move goes perfectly but given all the variables I felt that they handled everything extremely well. The names of 2 of my movers were Jack and Johnny.
