This is definitely a good place to have affordable and quick Laos food. We got the chicken and Lao sausage with sticky rice and a side of egg rolls (pack of 4). They instantly give you food right at the counter. The restaurant is a little small but they have plenty of seating. It's a definitely a family friendly place. This is a great place to get some to go food . They have a kiosk that you can order from or you can also order at the register . They have a nice selection of drinks / sauce / chips to choose from as well . I got the papaya salad extra spicy and the chicken and sticky rice combo . We came here on a weekday in the early afternoon and there was already a bunch of customers. We ordered a sausage with chicken and banana rice leaves. Both were pretty good. My partner said the sausage was very good and freshly made. The banana rice leaves were very good and still warm. It's unfortunate that they don't have those dishes not wrapped in plastic since even if you eat there it's wrapped, so there's a lot of plastic waste here. Worth it to come here. Price is on point. Food is on point. My family and I love coming here and now it's a staple to come with coworkers who love it. The Chicken and sticky is easily one of the best around. Though it's called fried chicken, it's not greasy like fried chicken. My fave on the menu. The chow mein and fried rice is also very good. The egg rolls are a fave of a lot of people as well as the spring rolls. The bobas are also very well done especially the Thai tea which I see a lot of people getting including my kid. Tried something different and got their pork laab and it was not it. Definitely a skip for next time. Great for fast grab and go Lao food ! Casual with plenty of seating. I went for the kaopoon today which is a Lao curry noodle dish and it taste exactly like my mom would make. Pictured however I ate 50% of it before I snapped a pic. Came with tons of veggies and noodles. This place was disappointing! Their spring rolls had soggy brown lettuce. Peanut sauce is watered down. Their egg rolls were probably the most disappointing thing we ordered. They were handed in a greasy bag and the rolls seemed like were fried yesterday and left under a hot lamp. The only reason I would be back is for their chicken and sticky rice, as that was ok but not great. Service is fast food like, they have a kiosk where you can order. I ordered the Lao Sausage & Sticky Rice, Kaopoon, Papaya Salad (level 3), Egg Rolls, and two dessert items. I was given a buzzer after ordering my food. I sat at a table while I was waiting for my food. The place was clean, but one of the seat was ripped. It's a casual place with friendly staff. Everything was delicious, except the egg rolls. I didn't care for it because it was heavy on the cabbage. The dipping sauce was delicious though. The papaya salad was perfect at level 3. It also had a very good flavor. The Kaopoon was yummy. The namwan was good, but some tapioca balls stuck together. They should be free flowing. The other rice dessert was delicious, too. Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of the egg rolls. Parking was plenty, love it that they had a kiosk for you to order instead of waiting in line which was very convenient. The package food was more expensive than the usual you would get at any other typical Asian store so that I would not recommend. I haven't tried any of their other food so I can't give any other reviews. Their drinks are too overpriced as well. I got one of the roasted coconut drink and it was about at least .80c more. The plate came with perfectly fried chicken, a neatly wrapped package of sticky rice, and a small serving of chili paste on the side. The flavors were absolutely amazing--the chicken was crispy and flavorful, the sticky rice had just the right texture and stickiness, and the chili paste added a nice, satisfying kick that tied everything together. After that first experience, I knew I had to come back. On my next visit, I decided to try the spring rolls in addition to the chicken and rice. I was pleasantly surprised by how generously sized the spring rolls were--longer than what most places serve--and the price was pretty reasonable, too. While I personally prefer a thick peanut sauce, the sauce they provided was a bit watery for my liking, though it still tasted good and complemented the spring rolls well. Overall, this place has quickly become a favorite of mine. The flavors, quality, and portion sizes make it well worth returning for, and I'll definitely keep coming back for more! Ambiance: They used to be located on first and Olive, but their store burned down. This new location is where I used to go clubbing. Now they have this location and Sweet Mango. Their sticky rice, chicken and rice with jeo bong is my favorite at Sweet Mango. However, this location, I opted for sticky rice, pork and papaya salad. I thought it was neat that their drink bar is separate. Very spacious compared to Sweet Mango. Service: I can't really speak about service because I used their self serve machine. YES YES YES! Located conveniently off Shaw, not too far from Fresno State, you'll find this quaint lil store and restaurant with great food. Went on Saturday for lunch and there was a line. However, the line went by fairly quickly and we got to order at the counter. Food is a great price AND it's good! Got two fried chicken rice plate, one with regular sticky rice, the other with fried rice. What really makes the rice plates for me is the pepper jel that comes on the side! It's a perfect kick and tastes awesome on the rice and the chicken! Additionally, we got papaya salad! You can pick your spice level and we decided to go with hot and it was perfectttt! When I inquired the rude young man at the counter was dismissive and rude. He simply said everyone prefers before 6:30. This is usually my go to place for the chicken & sticky rice grab and go. My son really likes the spicy dip that comes with it. Recently tho I noticed when I ordered it came out different packaging. And the chicken seemed a little more drier than usual. Maybe I came on a bad day, idk but usually their chicken hit. I always come to get their kao piak here tho since it's decent and nearby.. service is always good. I used to get the tapioca balls but they put it in the fridge now and I like it better room temp. The steamed catfish used to be really good but taste somewhat different then when they used to be on first and olive.. it's okay.. the bamboo thing in the fridge used to hit too on first and olive and now it tastes just a tad bit different. Different location different recipe ig? Jk. Idk. The place makes me feel like it's big for nothing cus it is super super spacious in there. I arrived right when they opened. Ordered bananas wrapped in sticky rice and a durian smoothie.. Banannas wrap was very nice. It was served hot, with 4 little packages wrapped in banana leaves. In addition to the banana and sticky rice, there was also some kind of bean in there, which added a nice nuttiness. Durian shake had nice durian flavor, although I would have preferred a stronger durian flavor. Service was friendly and polite. The dining room is decorated in southeast Asian style and is very spacious. There are lots of food items available for take away along the walls. I liked the atmosphere. Apparently, they have things for sale that aren't on the menu, so it pays to ask. For example, my banana with sticky rice wasn't listed on the menu. I ordered the papaya salad here over the phone. It was promised to be ready in 10 minutes after I ordered it and it really was! The flavor was amazing and perfect. I will note that it was a bit spicier than normal, but I did not mind it at all. The inside of the store was very clean and it was actually quite packed and busy around the time I visited the store which was in the afternoon on a Sunday. This is more a walk up deli rather than a restaurant...minimal seating in a mish mash setting. People only go here for the food! We showed up about 20 minutes before closing and they were unfortunately sold out of several things we wanted to try. The chicken and pork plates were yummy....succulent meat over rice. Portions were hearty. Skip the salad in the deli fridge unless you really like sour flavors. Nice selection of boba. Would give it a 3.5 if I could.
