The pies are great. I tried the strawberry rhubarb mini pie, a slice of key lime pie, and took home a chicken pot pie. The rhubarb was a bit tart for me though, so I probably won't get it again if I ever go back. Key Lime was average. Their chicken pot pie was good. Unfortunately, the service was a bit odd, which seems to be a recurring theme in other reviews. While checking out, I asked why there was an extra $2 charge on the chicken pot pie. The cashier told me it was because the strawberry rhubarb pie had been warmed in their oven and that baked pies incur an additional $2 charge. The explanation didn't make much sense, but it was my first visit, so I assumed there was some policy I didn't understand. When I got home and looked at the menu, I realized the $2 charge had actually been applied to the chicken pot pie. From what I can tell, they charge an extra fee if they bake one of the refrigerated pot pies for you. Mine was frozen, came with at-home baking instructions, and was never baked in-store. I sent an email to the address listed on the receipt to let them know they might be charging customers incorrectly, but never received a response. My mom and I stopped on for lunch when we were near the Junction. We ultimately got a Chicken Pot Pie and a Shepherd's Pie (plus one to go for my dad) which we really enjoyed. Nice filling and great crust. The place is small, and very little in the way of seating, but we were able to snag a couple of spots. Service was...meh. We'd come in mid-afternoon, and they'd been slammed earlier with a very heavy lunch rush. This meant most of the savory pies were gone. When all of the pies we'd enquired about were out, we'd decided to head out and try another place. As we were leaving I noticed a sign promoting a couple of other pies, namely the Chicken Pot and Shepherd's. They had a few of those cooking in the oven, as it turns out, to be ready in 10. Why were these not suggested, when the server knew what we were looking for, I dont really understand. So, we ordered 2 Chicken Pot pies, waited the 10 minutes for them to cook, only to find out when they were done, there was really only 1 Chicken Pot Pie. Why didn't they know this 10 mins before? Went here after our post dinner walk and decided to get pie. We were trying to decide between their Mexican Chocolate pie, White Chocolate Banana Crea pie, And their Seasonal Yuzu cheese cake. (almost got us) Opted for the banana because I've typically liked regular banana cream pies and haven't had one in awhile. Not the prettiest looking in the container. It had this light whipped cream dusted with cocoa powder on top of this white chocolate banana custard. In that custard was also these large chunks of bananas which was unexpected. I did enjoy the pie, but I don't think I would crave it. One thing I would change would be the pie crust. Something about it wasn't doing it for me. All in all, a solid experience. I've been here multiple times before and tried a good majority of their pies. Still need to tried a pie shake as well as their other offerings. I feel compelled to say that it was among the worst pies I have ever had. The crust wasn't bad.... but the crust is about all I could taste. I was extremely disappointed. I ALWAYS finish my pie. This time I could not. Good thing too because an hour later I lost everything in the bathroom. It was definitely the pie because it was all I had. Walking past this adorable pie shop, we could literally smell the pies baking from the street--it was impossible to resist. We made a point to come back the next day to see where all that goodness was coming from, and wow, we're glad we did! The staff greeted us with a warm welcome, and the menu had both sweet and savory options--which was exactly what we were hoping for. I had the shepherd's pie for lunch, and it was fantastic--the crust was buttery and flaky, the filling flavorful, and the mashed potatoes perfectly seasoned. We picked up a couple of pies from here for Thanksgiving. We had a top-notch berry pie. It was brimming with great berries, had a wonderfully flaky crust, and was delicious. That pie would earn this place five stars. But we also had a caramel chocolate pecan tart. The tart crust was far too thick and undercooked. The top of the tart was tasty, but the nuts seemed a little off (stale?). It was a two-star offering that might stretch to a two-and-a-half. The prices are high, though reasonable. Good pies are not inexpensive to make. The berry pie showed top-quality ingredients. The nuts in the tart have me double-guessing the quality and consistency of the ingredients across the full range of pies. We will have to return again, though we don't live close to here. This first experience tempers our enthusiasm somewhat, so it might be some time before we return for a second visit. read more

The texture, which should be flaky, was stiff, dense and hard, like stale pita bread, Also, it had no taste of butter, as if it had been made with vegetable oil instead. Tasted like an old cracker. Pretty terrible, and disappointing for a shop specializing in pie. Please go to Snapdragon instead, where they take baking seriously and do it deliciously. This place is great. Probably what would make it better would be seating. I get it, most probably don't hang around eating or drinking their pie and it's all togo. This recent trip I took a cottage pie (although they call it Sheppard's Pie) home, which was everything I had hoped and expected. I love beef pies and can't wait to go get another one. During this visit I also got to try their sour cherry pie in a shake (who doesn't love shakes, ha ha) and I thought it was excellent. I would love to try just the pie al-a-mode next time. Staff are always friendly and ready to serve you. If you are hoping for more selection, ensure you go earlier in the day. I had to try the white chocolate banana cream pie and it was fantastic! Huge piece with many chunks of banana throughout. Not too sweet either so it didn't wreck your tastebuds, allowing you to finish the whole piece. Would highly recommend if you like pie. I do wish the crust was a little more flakey, mine was a little chewy, but overall very good. The place was nice and clean and very busy for 8pm. Glad to see a small business appearing to be thriving. They had berry pies, cream pies, and a shepherds pie, all on display and all looked great. My review is primarily about the service. My family came in for dine-in pie ("for here") but the slices we ordered were taken from the "to-go" fridge. I saw this and repeated that we were taking our pie "for here" because it was a little loud for the staff to hear us, and maybe they didn't catch the initial request? Instead of slicing us a fresh cut from the pie at that point, they then scooped out our pies from the plastic "to-go" containers and put them on plates. I was off-put by that, but I always worry people will throw away food at that point and I'm not about that, so, I didn't make a fuss even though I thought it was not how you should present a slice of pie, when you state you will slice any pie. Later, I think it was an owner or manager... I saw THEM fresh-slice a different customer's slice of pie and put it on a plate. Maybe there's a disconnect in the staff training, or expectations? Why offer customers a pre-packaged slice then scoop it out of the container sacrificing presentation when they are dine-in? The pie itself was delicious as usual (thank you), but the service made me feel inequitable because it didn't make sense and someone else got a different level or kind of service. If you are trying to move product from a pie that had already been sliced and packaged, you could offer that at a discount. Especially if it's "Day Old". That's how old-school bakeries do it. read more

In 2021, The Seattle Times deemed A La Mode Pie as the best place to get apple pie in the Seattle area (article below). With such esteemed recognition, how could I not try it?! They offer a variety of freshly baked pies, drinks and ice cream of course! You can order a full pie (most are $38), a slice ($8) or mini pie ($10). The mini pie is intended to serve two people, so it was the perfect size for me to taste what all the hype is about. Even less than one hour before closing, there was still a good amount of pies on the rack behind the counter. The kind employee boxed up my mini French Apple pie to-go, quickly processed my payment and then I was off! So... was this apple pie the best in the city? I'm disappointed to say that I wasn't blown away. It was not a bad pie, but given their award-winning recipe, I had pretty high expectations. Upon first glance, the crust and crumble were baked to a perfect golden brown, so that was a great sign. The crust itself was nice and buttery, but the streusel on top tasted somewhat bland. Normally, the filling is my favorite part, but this one fell flat for me. The apples were sliced thin and pretty mushy. They didn't have much flavor either and definitely needed more cinnamon and/or spice. However, I did enjoy the slight tartness of the apples and how the filling was essentially pure fruit rather than the goopy type that you find in a lot of pies. It also wasn't too sweet which was a plus. If you are in the area, I would suggest giving this spot a try and see what you think. Everyone has different tastes. The Peach Summer pie was my favorite because of the fresh peaches that were stuffed in the pie. It was packed with peach sweetness and the crust was well baked. The French Apple pie was delicious but not as good as the peach one since it wasn's as sweet. My favorite part of the apple pie was the buttery crumble topping; the apple flavor wasn't very strong. Maybe overpowered by the cinnamon buttery crumble. The pies here are worth a try, but the price is what got me a bit. I wonder if $8 a slice is reasonable.
