Parking is slim to none, so be prepared to park on busy A street. The establishment is small but decorated nicely with Mexican artisans. They have seating in the back area but it still a bit snug and the tarps covering the area tend to make it warmer. For context, when I visited it was a beautiful day but it felt a bit hot due to the beaming sun on the tarps. The food definitely tastes like a homemade meal. It's good! I recommend sharing an entree, the servings here are very generous! I tried a Vietnamese coffee but it wasn't great. It was too sweet and tasted more like cafe de olla iced coffee. Prices seem fair, especially with the large portion sizes. I recommend you give a try!

A colleague recommended I come here for good Mexican food. I didn't know until I was ordering that their Mexican food menu is delivered from another location, so there is a longer wait for it to arrive. The wait was so long that my friend had to leave and I took her order home. The food that I had was good, tasted fresh and flavorful. The birria plate is in the image.

3.5/5 If you want to feel like you're just chilling in the backyard, eating a sandwich, this place has the perfect vibes. There is limited indoor seating, but I'd recommend eating outside anyway. I love the homey vibes with their decorations and silverware. I didn't order a drink, but the traditional clay mugs were a great touch. The Chipotle and El Despercidio sandwiches were both simple, but good. I think it was a bit overpriced for what it was, but I would still prefer to support a local business than a chain restaurant.

O cambiaron ? Es un servicio muy diferente . I got to go to this cafe in Hayward recently with family and thought it was very cute. The food was very good and I felt satisfied. I was sad to see that the service has changed so much since my last visit. A worker commented negatively on my sisters tattoos, another opened a bag of tea with her teeth, and one waitress made me get the plate out of her hands/seemed inexperienced with serving food. I wonder if there is new management or new owners? It's a very different service from last time.

This small cafe is sure to surprise you with their food and friendliness. I've never had a veggie sandwich like the one they make here. It was so delicious I'm not even a vegetarian and I would come back for it. My friend enjoyed their crepe and smoothie. I would definitely come back to enjoy the outdoor space which is a vibe.

After having driven by this cafe on multiple occasions, I finally stopped in here with a friend for breakfast. We each got the salmon bagel, tea, and a latte, then found a table on their cozy and beautiful back patio. The drinks came out in beautifully painted drink ware. This place was such a nice spot to catch up and chit chat over good food. The servers were super friendly and helpful, and we never once felt rushed to leave or vacate our table. The noise level was just right, too. You would think being on A St would mean we'd hear cars the entire time and would have to talk over other tables, but everyone was respectful of each other and my friend and I could hear one another speaking just fine. Parking is limited; there were maybe 4-5 spots on the side of Sandra's Barberia, but you can park on the street and walk over.

Went for breakfast the other day and ordered the quesabirrias plate. They were packed with lots of meat and were delicious. There was outdoor seating towards the back of the place. Can't wait to go back and try more items!

The señora that run this place are very, very nice and the owner was a wonderful gentleman to have a conversation with. The food was so delicious. The menu is pretty good sized. They have some great breakfast offers. As well as luncheon dinner. It's decorated in a Mexican thing with pottery and pots and cups and it makes you feel like you've left the United States and gone to Mexico and in the back area had lots of cactus and different things to make you feel more like you're out of the country. the food was absolutely delicious and fresh and I love the flavors and you can build the layers of flavors of the sauces that you're offered. The Adopt a Pug event was a hit .

Our new go to breakfast spot in Hayward! It felt like we were eating at someone's home because of how welcoming the staff and environment was. The service was fast, and the food was delicious and reasonably priced. The cafe de olla was our favorite, and it paired nicely with the bagel!

Outside, currently there's an umbrella kind of hiding their name so just look out for that.
    Isabel L.

I got to say that I love that they have cafe de Olla! I'm willing to drive just for it alone (I live half hour away.) It's run by some older Latina ladies that always super nice when I've gone. They sell food there, I haven't tried any of it yet but they sound and look delicious. They have pastries as well. They also sell natural juices which was pretty neat to see. They have some tables inside even though it's kinda tight but their whole backyard there's more tables where you can sit at. The spot is kind of hidden so just make sure you're paying attention to a spot that is painted green with their name on it. They have a parking lot and there's also street parking. Arteaga's is right next to it, just try not to park in their parking lot, just to be considerate.

This place is definitely my new favorite hole in the wall! The service was amazing and super friendly, especially to my little pup that I brought with me. The outdoor seating area is super cute and picture worthy. With food, I have no complaints. The portions are huge, everything tasted amazing, and I 100% plan on coming back and bringing my whole family!

OMG These are the moments that I'm so glad I trust Yelp! This place is suuuuper cute, the chilaquiles were absolutely delicious and it was probably the best cafe de olla I've ever had! I came here after the gym and a friend recommended we stop here. When you walk it, it's super unassuming. You order at the counter and the seating is in the back in the patio. It's super cute and the people are so nice. I'll definitely be coming back!

Great coffee. Excellent customer service. Its like walking in to a family members home. They greet you warmly. So many options will have to return soon to try.

We had the purple-colored Ube Pancakes and the Khao Hom Waffle, which contained strips of fresh coconut meat, and both beautifully-plated dishes were topped with berries and syrup. I was an even bigger fan of the Thai side of the menu, starting with the Papaya Salad, a refreshing, crunchy mixture of shredded papaya, green beans, tomatoes, and crushed peanut in a spicy, sweet, acidic dressing made of fish sauce and lime. For our mains, the Northern Thai Khao Soi was a noodle soup made of egg noodles and chicken breast strips in a rich coconut curry, topped with crispy egg noodles, pickled cabbage, and fried shallots. From the Chef's Special menu, the Tom Yum Crab Omelet was a mound of jasmine rice enveloped with an egg omelet, topped with chunks of crab, mushrooms, and a creamy tom yum sauce; and my favorite dish was the Roti Gai Tod, a hearty combination of breaded chicken thigh, roti (a flaky flatbread), cucumber salad, jasmine rice, and a mild but flavorful yellow curry sauce on the side. Overall, everything we tried here was delicious, and the service was super quick and friendly too! Tom Yum Crab Omelette- the best one to get since it has creamy tom yum sauce, a soft omelette, drizzled with a slice of lime, and crab meat with a few mushroom slices on top of fluffy rice. Khao Hom Waffle- coconut pandan waffle with fruits and syrup on the side. I wish they replaced the syrup with coconut milk syrup for better flavor and used no coconut shreds as a topping. Ube Pancake (side order)- one thick ube pancake that turned out dry when eaten with syrup. Never order anything that is not Thai on the menu. They should add Thai Tea pancakes to their menu with housemade Thai Tea syrup to make it more fusion. Pad Kee Mao w/ Chicken- I regret ordering this because the string beans were half raw, the tofu was dry, and the dish was a bit spicy. I should've ordered Pad Thai or Ka-Pow Short Rib Benedict instead. Thai Tea- strong and sweet, not too watery. It was less crowded when we arrived at 10 am on the weekend. The waitresses were fast and efficient, and the restaurant was nice and spacious.

The wait to order wasn't too long, maybe 15 minutes? While you wait, you pass by a display of cookies and they even have samples out for everyone to try. The staff was very nice, even though they were super busy! We tried: - Free chips & salsa: These are a must everytime I visit denica's. They are a great snack while you wait for your meal. 9/10 - The ube pancakes: These were pretty solid. I didn't think that the pancakes themselves had a very strong ube flavor, if any. I think all of the flavor was in the ube coconut sauce that they come with. However, there is only sauce on the first layer so you might want to get extra! It is an additional $2.75 or so to get the extra side of ube sauce, though. The pancakes themselves could have been a little more moist and fluffy, as they were a bit dry and dense. I loved the fruit and sauce, so that definitely made up for it! I'm glad that I got to try, but I don't think I'd get them again. Instead, I would get a regular pancake and a side of the ube coconut cream! 8/10 - The chorizo burrito: My bf said that this was also a pretty good option. He thought that it could have been a bit more flavorful, but was still satisfied with his meal! 7.5/10 - The side of hash browns: These were good, as to be expected! The portion was a bit small in comparison to other diners in the area. 7.5/10 Overall, I always enjoy my experiences at denica's! We sat in the back portion of the restaurant, which seems to possibly be a new addition for them? I'm not sure. I liked all of the picture framework in the front of house, with cute bacon and egg play on jokes. Menus are worn out. Could use a reprint or lamination, but that's minor. Food: Ordered the beignets, a corned beef hash breakfast meal (husband's dish), and a 3 egg pancake combo for myself. Yum! The beignets are more doughy than I expected, but tasted fresh. This is not your princess and the frog beignet, more of a doughnut puff type? I don't know how to describe it exactly, haha. The staff was accommodating in putting their vanilla and chocolate sauces on the side for dipping which I appreciated. Pancake was good, eggs cooked well (I love a place that knows how to cook a soft scramble), while their home fries are not what I expected (I think I typically prefer a more crispy potato), this showed me that I can possibly save myself time in the future when making at home. While not crispy, the home fries were delightful, entirely cooked through with a thin crisp edge. Staff: very kind! You know it is a family run business. The only thing I found mildly off putting was that one of the young servers wore his pajama bottoms. It did not feel like something a server should wear. But, if the place is a "come as you are" kind of a place, I understand. Overall: we will come back. Good food for a good price. Overall a good atmosphere and positive vibe.
