A decent place to buy shoes, although my experience was not as 5 star as most of the reviews here. I didn't get a gait analysis - I was just handed a few pairs of shoes and telling me to go outside and try them out. I did appreciate being able to try running in them outside but would have appreciated a little more feedback. Again a decent place to buy running shoes, where they seem to know their shoes here. And maybe if you pester them a little bit, they'll put in more effort. read more

Nothing but experts here. First time I visited I walked in with shin splints and walked out a stronger runner. And if you're worried about price, I found them cheaper than the downtown boutiques. In fact, the total cost of my recent purchase was cheaper than my last pair of running shoes purchase -which, incidentally, gave me shin splints. I brought my son here for track shoes earlier this week and picked up a pair of my own. This should be the standard for purchasing shoes! Eileen and Monte were great and very informative. While my son was trying on shoes, I shared that I had rolled my ankle inward six months prior and my foot still hurt a bit when I walked. They both then looked at my poor excuse for "walking" shoes and asked if I wore them often. They asked me to stand on a sensor pad that critiqued my arch and then watched me walk. Monte selected three pairs of shoes to try on and then swapped out different arch inserts with them. The first was the winner, though. And my son is pretty happy with his track shoes, too! I've walked twice this week since then, a minimum 5K steps each time, and my foot does not hurt at all! I highly recommend A Runner's Mind, and Eileen and Monte in particular, for all your running AND WALKING needs! read more

Extraordinary customer service! The shoes my daughter got are missing spikes. She got it from a rep. of A Runner's Mind who went to her school to sell shoes to the track team. I called the store and their associate Dawson personally delivered the spikes to my door, what is more, he put the spikes in a handsome bag with two pairs of new socks in it! Monte, the owner/founder, is super approachable. I had a problem with my transaction, and he stepped in to fix everything when he became aware of it. I've always believed that you learn a lot more about a business when things go wrong than when they go right, and I learned that A Runner's Mind is the real deal. Very friendly staff. I ordered a pair of berry superfeet. They ran out of my size. They had it sent from Burlingame and they had a size C and D arrive in one day. I'm a size 8.5 and a size D is 8.5-10 so they cut them there for you which is incredible! They are super comfortable hence the name superfeet lol I might have to buy a pair of shoes here in the near future :D places with friendly staff get my service. read more

Brought my nephew to buy track spikes on what was a very busy Saturday afternoon, with tons of runners picking up their bib numbers at the store for the SF Half Marathon the next day and shopping. I needed new running shoes and was in the area and noticed the new store so after my appointment I walked over and right away the two gentleman inside greeted me with a smile and a hello. Monte the owner helped me and was very knowledgable. He took his time to show me multiple pairs of shoes and even told me to run down the block in them. I did purchase a pair of running shoes and when I went to pay they even had jelly beans for customers and that just put the whole experience into perspective, just kidding. I'm not a runner but felt welcomed here. I came in looking for footgear that would be more supportive and comfortable since I am starting to rehab an insertional achilles tendinosis. Jordie fixed me up with insoles, ankle support sleeves, and the correct size shoes - who knows how much of my suffering was a result of shoes that were too small and had the heel canter pressing right on my heel bone! So, my friend was looking for comfortable shoes for standing all day! They mentioned the brand Oofos. I could have ordered blindly, but I needed to see and feel the shoe! I opted for locations, and found this quaint little store. I walked in and a guy with a big beard, and a young lady were discussing running, in earnest! I sat and observed the Interaction! The runner left, the man helped the next customer, a woman with a cute baby in a stroller. The young lady and came over to help me! She brought me a pair, but they were very close to being "cliffhangers," where your heel hangs off the back of the shoe! She had a larger size, but they were "mens!" I told her shoes don't have a gender, and I wanted comfort! While I was waiting, the guy with the beard asked me if I was being helped and I assured him that I had! The young lady returned with the shoes, and I put them On! OMG! It was like walking on Clouds! I told her I would take and wear them! Then she informed me of their specialized fitting, where the monitor your gait, how you walk, run, and that you are wearing the right shoe for all of your compiled factors! Awesome! I will get my next running shoe, or athletic shoes from them! I love their personalized attention, and all the care that they give you the customer, and most particularly, your Feet! read more

This place is really worth the trip if you have any question at all about what shoe best fits your needs. I enjoy running and rely on it for most of my cardio, but I have an old foot injury so I need to be really careful with my equipment. Dawson was extremely helpful--I appreciated the gait analysis, the opportunity to jog around with a few different pairs, his thorough knowledge of the inventory, and his commitment to finding the right fit for me.
