Their wagyu udon was so good, and a reasonable price for brunch. Loved the sweet broth that they used. Pork cutlet curry was also so cleanly cooked Would definitely come back here again to try more items!

Everyone loved their food here, not a bad word to be said among the 4 of us! We all said we'd love to return. Items we got not pictured were a ramen and udon dish. The sushi was excellent, so so FreshAlso, a great date night spot -- whether with a friend or lover

A-Un Brooklyn is one of few Japanese restaurants in the outer boroughs of New York City run by Japanese people, so the food is somewhat distinctive compared to the many Japanese restaurants run by non-Japanese. We visited a few times earlier in the year and ordered: - Nabeyaki Udon: $23 ($25.04) with tax. One of the better versions that we've had. - Grilled Salmon Saikyo Bento Box: A-Un's bento box sets are distinctive. The miso salmon, a nice change of pace to the salmon teriyaki common to nearly every other Japanese restaurant, was delicious. The grilled vegetables were also delicious, compared with the pitiful salads in most other bento boxes. - Wagyu Beef Bun $9 ($9.80 with tax): not worth it, chewier than expected. - Matcha Pudding: $8 ($8.71 with tax). Good, though not worth the price. There's somewhat of a shift in floor grade in the well-maintained bathroom. Suggested tips are based on pre-tax subtotals, and start at 15%.

The chirashi was ok. The ginger was too sour. It's the first time I disliked the ginger. I enjoyed the hojicha and the matcha pudding. My wife got the tonkotsu ramen. She said it's not worth the $100. I agree it's overpriced.

Food and service was great! We came in around 5 and it wasn't busy. The vibe was nice and the decorations were very homey. We ordered a seaweed udon, 2 salmon rolls and one crunchy spicy roll. They were delicious and very fresh. Will definitely recommend and would come back again!

Japanese food. Too often when people hear Japanese, they think only sushi. A-un definitely is more than just sushi. Don't get me wrong, the sushi was great, but the rest was even better! We started with edamame, steaming hot and lightly salted. Nothing less than perfect to start the meal. I had corn agedashi, a unique lightly fried ball of corn mash with shrimp embedded within, served with two side balls of corn and (maybe jalapeño) but, well, don't miss it if you like corn. My daughter ordered a garlic chicken bowl, again with fried nuggets of chicken in a light sauce on a large bed of steamed rice. It was too much to finish, so half went home with her. My partner had the waygu beef bowl and, while planning to eat half, left none. I guess that means it was amazing! I had the curry ramen with pork. The depth of flavor in the soup, thick and sumptuous, punctuated by the pork slices and perfectly cooked noodles, made this a dish I, like my partner, couldn't leave behind. Intimate, lacking true ambiance, unassuming, too cold in the wrong seat (but they adjusted the air flow without being asked), a literal diamond in the rough. If you want the best for less, find your way here.

    Takoyaki- yummy and fresh

I had a long day in Brooklyn, I was hungry and tired. I was looking for something good to eat and for me to relax. I love Asian food. I particular love Japanese. I wanted and needed a lunch special. I was not disappointed at A-Un. Nice and quiet space. It was my first time. Staff were friendly and attentive . The food was awesome and the drinks good too. The Takoyaki was fresh and hot. I can't remember the main dish, noodle or rice bowl? I can't remember but if you look at the photo you can tell it looks good. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and definitely will return.

Great little Japanese food joint in Bushwick, with an extensive sake menu. Their sushi sets are pretty good value for money. The garlic edamame appetizer is delicious but be warned the garlic taste is very strong! If you're keen on trying different types of sake, the 3 glass tasting flight for $17 is excellent. Service is quick and the staff are very proactive in filling up water glasses.

Been to the old spot that was here before only once, and I've always wanted to return. Saw online that it closed down and A-un opened. So my family and I had to check it out! The server (bartender? manager?) was very accommodating. He made sure I had a table while I was waiting for the rest of my party. We ordered a bunch of things off the menu. We tried some of the specials: the sashimi box, an eggplant dish, and the garlic chicken. We also had a large tonkotsu ramen, some takoyaki, and the salmon ikura bowl. It was everything we expected and more. Such comforting dishes and full of flavor. I especially enjoyed the ramen and the japanese fried chicken. My dad, who's probably ordered sashimi from all the places in the neighborhood, said that A-un's was the freshest he's had. Also! They have a really good sake selection. Fairly priced at around $16-$18 a carafe. Will definitely go back! It may be our new go-to Japanese in the area.

Hot "Chashu" Pork Udon Noodle Soup and "Tuna" Sushi Rice Bowl

I will definitely be coming back to try true rest of the menu! I had the chashu udon which was great with the colder weather. The noodles were soft, broth was great, and I was surprised by how much pork they gave in the bowl. My boyfriend got the tuna rice bowl which he said he liked! The prices are fair and the vibes here are super chill. I was there around 7pm on a Saturday and almost every table was full but it wasn't crazy loud which was nice.

I recently visited A-un with my husband for dinner before a show and had intended to order sushi, but we reconsidered once we entered the place and found that there was no visible sushi bar or sushi chef in sight. So although they do serve sushi, they prepare it in the back kitchen out of sight. I don't think I've ever witnessed that before at a sushi restaurant, and it made me a bit uneasy. We opted to just snack on an order of garlic karaage and pan-fried gyoza. The karaage was well executed and tasty. It was perfectly crispy and juicy and the garlic glaze was not overly sweet or overpowering, which I appreciated. The gyoza seemed like your standard packaged gyoza that you can find at any market, despite the claim that it's homemade. It was somewhat limp and sad and could've been seared more, but it wasn't too bad. The sake was overpriced and not worth it (more than $20 for a small 8 oz carafe). The staff members were friendly, but after our food came out, they seemed preoccupied with a bunch of folders. We had to request the check three times before it was delivered. Ultimately, it wasn't a horrible experience, but it was odd and not one that we would necessarily want to revisit.

Great find. Boyfriend and I went to look for juice but stumbled upon the spot on Google. We got there right at 5pm, it was a bit quiet, and we ordered the miso soup, corn agedashi (spectacular by the way) and the Japanese fried chicken with garlic, as well as the A-un sushi dinner. The fried chicken was great tasting because the sauce was not overpowering. The sushi was also very fresh, came with fresh wasabi. And finally, good selection of sake.

Surprised I haven't been to this ramen spot earlier since it seems to be a pretty popular…read morerestaurant and staple in the Park Slope neighborhood. It's quite busy but the turnover rate is quick. The restaurant is small but has a good amount of tables and counter seating. But I've got to say I am disappointed by my overall experience based on how popular this spot is. You order from a menu you can write on, which allows you to customize your ramen selections (noodle thickness, broth, add-ons, etc). I ordered the tonkotsu ramen with spicy added. While the broth is pretty good, I think the overall ramen is a bit lacking compared to other ramen spots. I did not realize the ramen did not come with any ingredients besides the chashu meat and some scallions sprinkled on top. So this spot really requires you to customize and add on toppings. Usually other ramen spots already have selection of toppings in each type of bowl. So overall, my ramen was pretty standard and nothing outstanding. I do appreciate that you can add half or full serving of extra noodles for $1-2 if you want more. Also, like others mentioned, Ramen Danbo received a C health code rating. I didn't see this until halfway through my meal, but I probably would not have ate here if I saw it beforehand. Quite appalling for a restaurant that doesn't even have an extensive menu. Overall, the service is okay... I can't say I had any particular issues BUT I just felt like all the servers gave off the vibe that they just hated their jobs or something. It was just the vibe I got but it could just be me.

First: got combo B which was the perfect amount for 2 people since it included an appetizer, 2 ramens, 2 desserts and 2 drinks. Left very filled and happy. Would highly recommend their lemonade and Thai tea! The popcorn chicken is more batter than chicken, so it's good if you like more of a crunch. The tonkotsu and miso ramens were good, but not particularly notable. Kyuramen is a chain after all, so the food quality gives that same vibe as comforting when you're just craving some. Second: Got the yakitori platter, beef ramen (seasonal) and curry ramen and I'd personally pass on all of them. Their meats are over cooked which makes them tough. Both times the service was fine, I appreciate the call button so both don't have to wait for awkward timing issues. I do like the aesthetic of the place, especially with the privacy of the room shades/dividers. p.s. don't forget their slurp and win program! When you drink all the broth, there's a word on the bottom (or not) where you can get a free popcorn chicken/drink/etc for your next visit. I thought the chances would be pretty slim, but I got a drink voucher my second time!

Chicken dumpling (3/5) Red version: It was unique to find kernels of corn in the dumpling! I enjoyed the vinegar/soy sauce and chili oil. Next time, I would have liked to try the brown. Overall, there wasn't anything special about the steamed dumplings. Iron Men (3/5): I was disappointed since reviewers said that the broth would be very rich but it did not have much flavor to me even after using their house chili sauce (+$2). I definitely tasted the Iberian pork undertones but overall, I thought it was watery and didn't have much flavor without the chili. The poached egg was perfect. The rosemary oil was very subtle (cool presentation as it was provided in a dropper!) The noodles were perfect--chewy and bouncy. I thought the 2 slices of pork were thin but tender, also more lean and not fatty (not as ideal so did not melt in your mouth). Expensive for a bowl with little meat ($23). I did not use the miso paste as I did not love the aftertaste, which admittedly could be why the broth lacked flavor to me! Nagoya Miso Katsu-Don (N/A): I tried a little of the dish. I thought the pork was very crunchy and had a great taste. Boyfriend said the dish was nothing special.
