Richard was very responsive, timely and most of all honest! I called him late on a Wednesday night and he came over Thursday to check out our washer that wouldn't operate. Based on an assessment over the phone he thought maybe it was a problem with the lock latch so he stopped at Lowe's on the way over to pick up a latch. However when he arrived he discovered that it wasn't the latch and the washer was just dead. Couldn't enter diagnostic mode and was beyond repair. Richard helped us look for a new reasonably priced washer and gave us recommendations. He was also just as disappointed as we were that he couldn't fix the washer for us. Based on his recommendation we found a nice washer at the Best Buy Outlet and it was delivered on Saturday! All is well again! read more

My washing machine went out on me at the end of Sept and a quick search pointed me to A1. Richard responded right away and even helped me troubleshoot over the phone and via text. It was agreed that my washer was done and not worth repairing. So Richard put me in contact with his "whole seller" Manuel to get a "reconditioned" machine. This is where this experience went from great to what I feel like is a scam now. Manuel showed up, installed a new to me machine, and removed the old one. Manuel said there was a 90 day warranty. Once I got a chance to run it, I was immediately getting drainage errors. I would hit continue on the machine and it would finish though. So I just thought air in the lines, it was just installed. But the error never cleared. Richard asked me to contact Manuel for him to come back and check it out. I tried for a couple weeks. It was like I was ghosted. Then Manual responded out of the blue on Oct 24, asking if I would be home at 6pm. Told him yes and then he ghosted me all weekend. When I called him out on Monday, he said he would come back. I just wanted a refund at this point. But now he says he doesn't do refunds. Richard said if Manuel didn't come back then he would check this machine out for free. Its now been a month and Richard stopped responding. I just bought a new washer because Manuel's still wasn't draining correctly and then started leaking. So I'm out $350 on a machine that doesn't work correctly and all the time wasted on dealing with it. Is this what I really get for trying to support a small business? read more

One word that comes to mind when I worked with A1 Best Appliance is honesty. I did a Yelp quote and A1 responded fairly quickly and made an appointment. They have a service call charge of $59 which goes toward the repair if necessary. Anyways, the owner Richard came out to check our refrigerator. I explained what was going on and surprised but he told me that it's the compressor. He told me that he can try others options to but there is no guarantee and the compressor cost $900 which is almost half the cost of a brand new one. So he recommended to get a new one. Explained to us about refrigerator's and the manufacture who he recommends. Also, explained to us the store to go to, not to go to and why not. Very informative. So we went and bought a new one. Anyways, my washer started acting up. I called up A1 again and just so happened I got a hold of Richard again. Explained over the phone what's going on and we both agreed new washer was necessary because of an controller issue. So bottom line is A1 is very honest and trustworthy to me. He could have just told me to replace so he can get a repair job but he didn't. I do recommend A1 for my appliance repairs. For sure A1 will be called whenever I have appliance issues. read more

I recently had a water issue with my dryer. Yes, my dryer. Seems that my dryer has a water hook-up to provide humidity to help prevent wrinkles. The valve broke and flooded my dryer and wash room. After the clean-up, I called and spoke to Richard. He advised me that the valve probably broke and he would have to order a new part. Total parts and installation would be around $250. Then we began discussing if I even needed that feature. He said I could just disconnect the hose to the dryer and hook the washer hose directly to the incoming water line. Well, 30 minutes later, I was up and running. Richard could have just come out and installed the new valve and made some money, but he was honest and provided some genuine advice. Had Steve come fix my LG front loader washer today. 1st he called me to let me know he wanted to pick up the part so he would be running late for our scheduled time but game me a new time but I was happy he would have the part instead of me waiting to have to wait even longer for the part. The company gives you automated texted messages when they're in route. Steve came very polite, and started the job kept the area clean. Before he finished made sure with me washer was fixed explained the warranty with the new part.. the bill was lower then other quotes I got so very happy about that. Steve cleaned the area and again very polite. He wore a mask even though I said it wasn't necessary since he wasn't near me, but when we did the payment he did wear it. Set up an appointment for 12-2 a few minutes after 2 no show no call, so I call Richard who was nice and seem surprised and said he would check he called and said the technician would contact me finally the technician did call and said he was on his way well at 5 he wasn't there I called Richard who texted me he would call me in a few minutes so I called my wife and we decided that we couldn't count on someone who couldn't even let us know they were running late I am a night shift worker and I got up early and waited 5 hours and didn't get any service. I had researched and saw good reviews so I thought I would get satisfaction I didn't. I called this company to have a drain hose replaced on my washing machine. The technician, Spencer, came out and fixed it in 5 mins, no joke (I pulled the washer out for him, and had already removed the old hose). He then said that would be $169! What!? When I balked at the price, he said "I have 30 years of experience." I said someone with one year of experience could have done what he did. He then began making statements about needing to keep the biz open, and gas prices have risen, blah, blah, blah. Not my problem. I told him to charge me the amount but I would never use his company again. He then angrily asked what amount I wanted to be charged. I wasn't going to bicker. He called his office and got the price down to $129. Next time I'll use a handyman. Good grief, what a rip-off. Very poor value for my money. read more

This was the worst experience of my life. Richard showed up 30 minutes late. He pulled out my dishwasher, tested the drain, feed, and electrical features. He figured out that it was the sink valve, but wasn't sure he was allowed to do it under his insurance. He then called a friend and reminisced for 10 minutes on speakerphone in my kitchen before finally asking if his insurance would cover changing the valve. The friend said yes and he said he would do it for me, but gave what I thought was a very steep price. I said I thought the price was high and Richard got very angry with me. He said he wouldn't charge a service call, but refused to do the work. He left the dishwasher in the middle of my kitchen. I said, he couldn't just leave me with a dishwasher in the middle of my kitchen. I was very upset. He then said he wasn't licensed or bonded and started taking a video of me with his phone. He left my house, but he continued to video my house with his cell phone from my front porch. I called the Police. When I went outside to confront him, he drove across my neighbor's lawn and over a curb, leaving skid marks in my driveway and my neighbor's lawn. read more

Needed LG frontloading washer repaired. Diagnosed problem immediately ...drain pump as we suspected. Was very accommodating as we had it located in a relatively tight space with dryer stacked on top, water heater to one side, fridge on the other and a low shelf. Got it done easily and gave us the LG brand pump for same price as non-brand. My inquisitive husband picked his brain about a lot of stuff appliance related, which Richard was more than happy to answer.
