We ordered takeout from Hawaiian BBQ for the first time a couple weeks ago and just had to order it again a few days later because it was so delicious. Compared to L&L, this place's portions are HUGE and so affordable. The menu is also much more extensive. My favorites so far are the mochiko chicken plate and crab wantons. My only complaint is the spam musubi is somewhat bland, but otherwise highly recommend checking out this place! read more

Born and raised in Hawaii, so this is the food I grew up with. Really missed food from home since I left and always trying new Hawaiian places when they pop up. Normally I'm always disappointed but now I found my go to plate lunch spot. Got their garlic chicken and my sister visiting from Hawaii got the kalbi short ribs. Both were ono. The garlic chicken is spot on, sauce is similar to mitsuken back home. Chicken was super crispy. The short ribs were very good as well. What did it for me is the Mac salad was spot on. Reminded me of rainbows drive in salad with more stuff in it. Solid spot. read more

Humph! I ordered the seafood combo... and it came with 3 scallops, 3 small butterflied shrimp, and some very thin white fish... all breaded and deep fat fried. Theses were served with macaroni dressed in Mayonnaise, and two scoops of plain rice and all served on some white cabbage pieces! The store front was bare... as in stark!, but tables were wiped and clean... which was more than I can say about the front counter which I mistakenly put my hand on, it had a film of ???? .... As I waited for my food, I assessed the kitchen, cook and alll. There was Tin foil over a fan, which last time I checked was a violation. The counter man who never washed his hands.... Bags the boxed food, and opens each box to assure all is in order. I don't know about the rest of you guys but I start seeing germs just start flying all over the place when I see little irregularities as such. I'm so glad they have this place here in Kent! This place is great. They are very friendly, the food was cooked to order and fresh. It was pretty busy since they've just opened up and took a while to get our food. It's clean and there's plenty of parking. Prices are good. We ordered two Hawaiian bbq chicken bowls and we're given about 2oz of meat in each bowl. Most of the "meat" was chicken skin and fat, the bowl was primarily just filled with rice with a few pieces of broccoli. For $9 dollars it was completely overpriced and very poor food quality. We ended up giving most of the meat to our dog, unfortunately. read more

Food was tasty but the mac salad tasted weird. I think they should try to put the Mac salad in a separate container so that it doesn't mix with the hot food. It ruins the taste of the meats. I think the 2 times we went there, the Mac salad was watery and it had a weird smell to it. If mayonnaise is put out in the heat that long, it starts to spoil. I ordered a large low carb platter composed of short ribs, beef, chicken and fried eggs. The short ribs and beef are so chewy my jaw hurts from trying to eat it, give most of them to my dog. He liked it a lot. The chicken is thigh meat so it's tender, the fried eggs have a running center so pretty delicious. All the proteins are cooked with the same sauce so they all have the same flavor profile, a tad bit on the sweet side. I'd most likely avoid ordering the red meat here again. Highly overrated. L&L, other places much better. Disappointed but was hungry so ate there as it was nearest Hawaiian place for us. Mixed meat bbq and chicken fried noodle were both bad. Chicken was about average taste. Like other reviewer said watered down teriyaki sauce bottle. Meat was so dry and tasteless. Noodles were overly salty that we had to add Sriracha hot sauce to mask it. Banana lumpia one piece looked fresh other piece days old or refried again. In the hour we sat there, place had a lot of walk-in orders and to go orders so they are getting a lot of business which is misleading. Don't think we will visit this place again. read more

I was upset because I had to wait so long even tho' I called ahead and had to leave without lunch because I had to get back to work but when I called today, I asked to reorder the same and they knew about the situation. When I got there, they tried to refund my money (even tho' they had the lunch ready for me). Of course I refused but they insisted that at least I have a beverage, so I took one. As a Hawaii native, I've had my fair share of plate lunches and have been to Hawaiian BBQ a few times. It's conveniently located for me and mostly good, depending on the day. This time, we ordered three plates. The roast pork was good, but the gravy too salty. Mochiko chicken was tasty; rice very dry. Chicken katsu was on par with other places; accompanying sauce okay but watery. The mac salad was tasty, but a little too watery also. Don't let the name fool you. Not a Hawaiian restaurant at all. Not sure if the cooks are from Hawaii but reading the poke review probably tells me no. The food was bland, not cooked all the way, mac salad runny and did not taste good - actually none of the food tasted good. I followed the "get directions" on yelp and didn't check what stores were around.. so it took me to kent median school lmao. Use "copy address" instead. it's located next to bobalust and trader joe's. L&L is my go to spot I decided to try this place out since it's new. in comparison, the prices are about the same and portion size is the same. I ordered beef bbq and the food took about 15 minutes. it was a like tough and chewy so it was difficult to eat. the mac salad was okay, very creamy and seasoned well. I was disappointed with the spam musubi. I had expected the spam to be covered in sauce but it was simply just rice spam and seaweed. I could have made that at home instead of spending a few bucks on it. read more

The food was good until my coworker and i both got stomach aches after we consumed their food within couple hours. Their food was the only thing that we ate that day and we both got same exact dishes (loco moco with macaroni salad).
