Make sure you tip if you want decent customer service here, because the moment I selected "no tip" for a to-go order, I was ignored and treated with disrespect. I don't think customers should have to tip just to get basic service, especially for takeout. On top of that, the food wasn't good. Overall, this was a 1-star experience. I thought Palace Korean was pretty good for a mall food court place! There was no line, so we were able to order and get our food pretty quickly. I had the Beef Bulgogi Plate. It comes with rice and choice of two sides. I went with kimchi and potato salad. I thought everything tasted good, including the kimchi, which is difficult to get right LOL. I'm not used to eating potato salad with Korean food, but it tasted good too. My husband had the Chicken Yakisoba and he enjoyed it. I was going to order that too, but I wanted to try a traditional Korean dish instead. We had enough food for leftovers and I would definitely eat here again. In Federal Way, they have a restaurant named Palace too. We enjoy their food and hope this will meet our expectations as well. Since we were at the mall, I opted for Korean food because it was less greasy than the teriyaki next door. I chose the bibimbop. I was glad that it included an egg. Although, it wasn't authentic, it was passable for mall food. As an added nutritional bonus, I asked for brown rice which wasn't extra. The rice was actually the purple rice. It was cooked just right also. It came with the ubiquitous sauce too. It came with greens, diakon/carrot, egg, mushrooms, beef. It was missing a few ingredients that would kick it up a notch - bean sprouts, bell pepper, zucchini, green onions. Having this doesn't hit the spot but at least my belly isn't full of oily food! They had about five plated choices and we decided to try out their favorites: Bibimbap and Bulgogi. Although the presentation was a bit sloppy, the meal itself was actually good. The palate was pleased. The service was fast, the serving size was plenty, and the end state was achieved. Approached the restaurant with a little uncertainty and trepidation, but as we entered the restaurant we were greeted by Bora (cashier/waitress) with a big smile and friendly "hello". It wasn't busy, having arrived at about 11:30 AM. Bora quickly seated us and explained the coupon offer then showed us the choices we had. We decided on the beef brisket, pork belly and marinated pork steaks. The entree in question is Boneless Short Rib. The Entree is tasty it's not your stereotypical Teriyaki sweet but it has subtle sweetness which is normal for your typical Korean BBQ. Sides I chose Kimchi and Potato, the Kimchi was fine it wasn't spectacular but fine. The potato was very offensive to me it's overly sweet I felt I put a blocks of coffee sugar into my mouth. My family has usually gotten food here any time we visit the mall. The poor service seems to bring down the flavor of the food. It is already absurd to not provide a cup of water with the meal (while a restaurant nearby that I didn't get food from gave me water for free), but for the staff to seem to point my family out multiple times and trash talk us because we expected non-bottled water absolutely makes me not want to ever eat there again. I came here their first day of opening and my boyfriend and I went a few nights ago again. And to be honest, throughout the several times we've been here, their quality of food and taste has changed and has become less flavorful. The very first time we went, every thing was so good and marinated really well, but the other night I was really disappointed. There wasn't much taste in the BBQ Chicken and the boneless short ribs.... and for the kalbi/short ribs to not have taste, that is pretty disappointing because at a Korean BBQ joint, it SHOULD be best dish, but it wasn't. :( All we tasted was burnt and charred-ness from it cooking on the grill. To add to that, it was really dry and chewy...my boyfriend ended up spitting it out into a napkin because it was just too hard to chew and swallow. Their Kalbi was already pre-cooked and they put it back on the grill to heat it up to serve as an order comes. I think if it was cooked fresh, it would be a different story..it's already a thin slice of meat so I don't think the cooking process would be that long. The bbq chicken, same. Charred and not much taste. Their rice... hit or miss. Sometimes its cooked perfect, other times, like the other night, it was wayyy too mushy. Their other menu items such as the spicy pork and bulgogi are however, more flavorful. Those are the two i'd recommend if coming here. Anyway, It's hard for me to write about the con's of this location because it has so much potential! If their quality matched the quality of their other locations, it would be a different story. We also love korean bbq and I feel like its hard to mess it up, so I am kind of disappointed. But I know they're still kind of new so I'm sure they're still working it out. We shared so we both got to try everything. The quality was very poor, the taste and texture was not enjoyable. The kimchi was the worst I've ever eaten and I couldn't swallow the bean sprouts. A bit of rigidness 2. Ordered the same item as the lunch special, but didn't get the discount- probably b/c I didn't mention it. 3. Food itself 3 stars: rice is too mushy, even for a Korean like me. Chicken was a bit uncooked. I think they pre-grill it and when the customer orders his/her food, they would re-grill it. However, mine wasn't cooked thoroughly enough. Beef was ok.
