I ordered the following: - Pizze Al Trancio: Salsiccia (fennel sausage, fior di latte) - Panini: Siciliano (tuna conserva, fennel, cucumber) - Bottle of Altamonte: Pinot Grigio The pizza and panini were both pre-made. Even when warmed up, the flavors were so amazing in every bite for both items. The Pinot Grigio was truly a nice pairing with the food as well. The slight downfall was that the Salsiccia pizza was supposed to be served with the broccolini as one of the toppings (according to the menu). The pizza did not come with it during this visit. The shop included a totally warm and inviting space. I was appreciative of the seating area, with several tables and chairs available for customers. The environment had a nice feel and vibe overall. A16 was a great stop inside the SF Ferry Building for tasty food and delicious wine. I recommend stopping by, especially to unwind, chill, and relax. read more

I ordered the funghi pizza and two glass of the bardolino rose. It was amazing!!!! The funghi pizza was well seasoned and had a lot of mushrooms all over. Wine paired well with pizza. The service was amazing. A bug landed in my wine and they replaced it no questions asked. They were very nice, friendly, and helpful. The ambiance was small shop inside ferry building. read more

Came here for lunch with another couple - total party of 5. Looking for pizza. It is pretty cramp in here with 3 total tables. We ordered 2 large pizzas and one little gem salad + two cokes. The pizzas itself were good but would have been BETTER they were't lukewarm. Also got a little gem Cesar salad. It was in a box that you grab from the fridge. I hate these salads. A16 at the Ferry Building is a fantastic spot to catch up with friends after work. Their restaurant on College in Oakland's Rockridge district is equally impressive. We visited to meet up with friends and were thoroughly impressed by their wine selection and beautifully displayed Detroit-style pizza. They offer a wide variety of charcuterie, food, and other items, making it a great place to nibble on while people-watching and catching up. Came here on a weekday during lunch with a friend. There was a short line and we ordered the little gem salad with chicken and the fetta pesto Genovese slice. The salad was just okay for what we were charge ($21). The chicken was dry and the salad dressing was lacking -- didn't have much flavor. This is a heavenly building that should be protected at all costs !! So many good pastries and food to try and eat and walk by. My son and I tried only red cookie at one of the stands and instantly regretted buying just one instead of all 10 flavors . We came back next day and they closed but we had to leave . This place gets packed on weekends -- you'd be surprised if I told you this place has 2.9 stars on yelp. Most of the food, eg pizza and paninis, are pre-prepped, so pizzas are re-warmed, and paninis are pressed when you order them. I was excited to see a focaccia pizza place in SF, and tried two. Pizza comes out piping hot, and focaccia is pretty good (fluffy, not too oily or hard), but the toppings are a bit of a hit or miss. Specifically the Salsiccia (sausage pizza) I ordered was a bit sparse, and really felt I was loading up on carbs. The Vesuvio (soppressata) was much better. 9" slice is pretty big for 1 person. While I left with mixed feelings on the pizza, the Ghiottone (prosciutto) panino was the highlight of the lunch. Nice and crispy panini bread, juxtaposed with prosciutto and cheese. If you are not a super carb person, I suggest passing on pizza and getting the paninis. Seating here is pretty limit -- 3 tables, but being in the ferry building, easy to grab and go find a seat somewhere else. Service is polite and friendly. Lots of beverage options.. read more

I saw someone sitting outside the Ferry Building eating a slice of pizza that looked amazing. He said it was from A16, so I headed inside to grab a slice for myself. They have a wide variety of square pizza slices. I was a bit confused by how big their slices were, but it was big even for the small size. I got the cauliflower pizza and added arugula. Arugula is a game changer, and I love when places offer this as a topping. The pizza was so delicious and refreshing. The crust was thick, so even a singular slice was very filling. Tried this restaurant for lunch on a weekday and all the tables were filled up. At the counter, they had all the pastas, pizzas and sandwiches on display which was helpful to know what to order and what was in each dish. Ordered with the cashier and got our items within 10 minutes. Campagnalo - They reheated the sandwich and it made the thin bread fluffy on the inside, crunchy on the outside. The mushrooms were soft, the cheese had a nice bite and the pesto flavor shone through. The salad on the side wasn't the best though. Cannolo - We asked them about the flavor and they had a cream and pistachio one. It was pretty big but was 6 dollars for one. The shell was crisp and easy to bite into with a light cream filling and pistachio flavors. Solid lunch place in the ferry building and we enjoyed being able to see what we would be ordering from the menu as well as the freshness of our dishes. read more

I was starving and in a hurry. I stopped here for a quick bite and didn't realize it was an A16 location. I ordered the tomato and pesto focaccia and iinstantly regretted it as I thought it might be disappointing. Counter person was bored. They heated it up for me, cut it in half and it was perfect. Great ingredients, right amount of sauce and it all showcases the fluffy, yet crunchy bottomed focaccia. What a lovely and delicious surprise. read more

A revamp occurred in late January/early February 2024 here. In the past, I'd only see this spot open Saturdays if I was still shopping after 11 am. In late February, I noticed they were open as I shopped at the Tuesday farmer's market. The space is more welcome with the refrigerator on the left with salads, soups, and cold drinks. Straight back, there is a counter display with a variety of pizzas and sandwiches. To the right, a cashier counter houses a small display of small pastries and sweets. After studying items on the center counter, I bought a couple items for a friend and me. I am a big tomato fan which led me to try this. The pastry was buttery and cheesy with the burrata on top. I reheated it in my toaster to enjoy this. After reading recent reviews, I will hold off on trying the sandwiches and the refrigerated food items. My food experience is a 3+ mainly due to that pasticcino. Bumping it up a half star for service as Mia answered my questions and was very friendly and patient as I studied their counter offerings. I'd give this place a star for pure value - the small slice of pizza is only $8 for a really huge slice. The large slice is humongous and seems more suited for sharing. I had the Vesuvio pizza which has soppresatta, and it may have been one of the most bland slices of pizza I've eaten. The other items like the salads are all pre-made which I didn't realize until I ordered it, and I just had to go get the pre-made salad out of the case. Post remodel, I went in only to find that most of the items I used to buy are no longer offered & the ones that are have been downsized in portion, but actually cost more now. It may have started as a Winter Shop, but they seem to have occupied the old Cowgirl Creamy into Spring. Kinda like a fancy Italian grocery store, but with a quite a few sandwich options. The sandwiches are a tad pricey given their diminutive stature, but they are very tasty. Prosciutto Panino: The combination of prosciutto and burrata is just magical. Even better than the typical prosciutto and mozzarella combination since burrata is runny and creamy and really blends into the baguette nicely. Not a fall apart texture as goat cheese would be, but not totally intact like fresh mozzarella. Because both the meat and cheese are so fatty, bitter arugula is actually a good pairing. Rare for me to praise arugula, but it works here. Also, the herbal pesto spread is a nice contrast. A tad pricey at $17.37 (including tax) for a not-that-huge grab & go sandwich, but very tasty. Meatball Panino: Not be outdone by the prosciutto, this was $18.45 (including tax)! It was made fresh to order, but it was equally small and only had like 3 meatballs. They were tasty meatballs for sure, finding the right balance of meaty and nice mix-in ingredients. Liked the melted fresh mozzarella a lot. And just enough sauce to make the baguette a little softer. Feels more like a snack than a meal though. Semolina Almond Blood Orange Cake: A very hearty dessert, almost the texture of cornbread. Not too sweet. Goes well with coffee. I liked the candied blood orange slices on top, since they tasted very fresh. Though I wish they were candied a little bit more, like glacéed fruit. read more

I decided to eat lunch at A16 in the Ferry Building since it was walking distance from my hotel, and I've got to say, their sandwiches were so good! I decided to get the calabrese and a lemon granita. Let me tell you, they hit the spot. I didn't try one but the pizzas seriously looked amazing.
