There is one collaboration which is organic and native to San Francisco. These combination are the best of the best in San Francisco in their category of business. It's located in the Embarcadero Center at Embarcadero 1 and it's Devils Teeth / Green Apple Bookstore. In an Embarcadero stroll I landed at Embarcadero 1 at Devils Teeth. I have tried the other two Devils Teeth stores in the Outer Richmond and the other at the Sunset Strip of San Francisco and they are legit. This store really is my favorite one now because they added my favorite bookstore Green Apple. Inside they serve the coffee and breakfast sandwiches along their known flakey pastries like some in SF. I got the breakfast sandwich from other bacon and egg on a biscuit . This combination of savory and buttery was my jam. I then I washed it down with an ice mocha which was not too sweet and the combination hit the spot. The Green Apple bookstore inside has a very good curated collection which has the right amount of books about food and the human experience. This is definitely the spot everyday of the week for breakfast and lunch . Go on a Sunday because they have $1 beignets because you cannot get anything good in San Francisco for $1 these days. Small location right in One Embarcadero. I stopped by on my way back to work after an appointment to get some sweets. I opted for a chocolate chip cookie and a strawberry banana muffin. The staff are friendly and helpful. Everyone says this is the best breakfast sandwich in SF and it was good, but it's not my favorite. It's quite large and messy, making it hard to eat and when I had it the biscuits were a little dry. I tried the normal beignets and special strawberry ones for Valentine's Day. They're hot and fresh and well priced, I'm not an expert in beignets but I know people say they're light and pillowy. These are more dense but the flavor is good! My friend and I decided to check out Devil's Teeth for lunch during the week. They don't have seating inside but it is pretty spacious with a section where they have a collab with Green Apple Books. We ordered with the cashier and it came out pretty quickly around 10 minutes for our sandwiches. Regular Breakfast Sandwich - The biscuit was the star of the sandwich, homemade, fluffy, buttery and had a little bit of sweetness. The bacon and cheese came through a bit with the saltiness but the majority was the egg which had a nice texture but needed a bit more seasoning. I came on a Saturday afternoon. It happened to be bay to breakers weekend so it wasn't super busy. It was a short line to order and after ordering, they have a little section where they sell books cards, etc. for you to wait. I think it took about 15 minutes for our food to come out. I got the special breakfast sandwich ($13) but they had run out of bacon that day. You can opt to change to sausage for an extra $3 dollars. I also got a lemon bar and an iced tea. I didn't know what to expect, was pleasantly surprised! I'm not usually a breakfast person or a breakfast sandwich person let alone sausage. However, the ingredients tasted super fresh and the lemon-garlic aioli was very flavorful. But my favorite thing was a lemon bar, I even took it home and my boyfriend finished it immediately (when I was saving it for myself as a snack for later). The first I made the mistake by asking if they were still open, "Does it look like we're open?!" was the response. (First visit). Overall, the sandwich was not bad, but I would say that it looks better than it tastes. I think the salt levels were decent, and the texture of the egg was good. The bacon had a nice meatiness to it. However, the sandwich itself desperately needed hot sauce with every bite to deliver a decent punch. My general rule is that the sauce should enhance the tastes that are already there rather than deliver 85% of the flavor. The biscuit itself could have been more buttery and flakey, so I am disappointed on that end. The place itself is in a cute little nook with an attached bookstore, so the vibes were very cute. While I can't speak much to its other offerings, I would say that the special breakfast sandwich from Devil's Teeth Baking were just okay, especially for the $15 that it costs. I asked before I ordered if they had Cinnamon Rolls, and the cashier said yes. I paid and unfortunately only afterwards they told me that they were actually out of Cinnamon Rolls, which they offered me a refund for. A little disappointed by that experience -- I was looking forward to that and I was anxious about the refund because they didn't offer me a receipt or anything of the refund. Regular Breakfast Sandwich: 5/5, the biscuit was deliciously buttery yet fluffy and the eggs were almost like a soft scramble so they were juicy and lush. A generous amount of bacon and melted cheese made this such a nice breakfast. Beignet: 4/5, for $1 each, these were delightful. They come in the bag with powdered sugar so you can reshake and cover them. They're beautiful and golden, I could definitely see myself going through a bag of these. I think our modifications made it not very good so take my review with a grain of salt. We ended up getting the morning breakfast sandwich but substituted the bacon for avocado which made the texture much worse. It also felt like it needed a sauce of some sort as well to tie it together. That being said the busicuit was great and the ingredients they used were solid. The atmosphere was interesting. I'm sure they are just working with what they have but it seemed a bit odd. A tone of wall seating is there the moment you enter divided by a small bookshelf and in the courtyard there are some old (rusty) mettle labels and chairs. None of it was bad but it didn't add much either. They were friendly and pretty quick. Water options in cardboard cups where available and they have compost as an option. Devils Teeth is a small shop, and as with most casual spots in SF, there is no indoor seating. Food came out about 10 minutes after ordering, which was pretty quick. We came here at about 1pm on a weekend, and although it wasn't too busy, they were unfortunately all out of biscuits, which was super disappointing :( Make sure to come earlier! We ended up settling for getting the sandwich on sourdough, which was fine. However, not having the biscuit kind of made the sandwiches lose all its uniqueness. They just tasted like any other BEC sandwich. Yummy, but nothing special. The crust on the sourdough bread is also too hard, and kind of scratches the roof of your mouth. If you do come, definitely get the Special Breakfast Sandwich over the regular one, as the lemon garlic aioli on the special one makes it stand out more, giving it a tangy, fresh kick.
