There are few combinations which go well with food like peanut butter and jelly, chicken and waffles, and french fries and ketchup. Then there are some interesting collaborations in the fast food world like a KFC and Taco Bell restaurants or the Baskin Robins and Dunkin Donuts shop. A collaboration which goes perfect in my book is a cafe and a bookstore like the late Tanforan location of Barnes and Noble and Starbucks with The Cheesecake Factory pastries . There is one collaboration which is organic and native to San Francisco. These combination are the best of the best in San Francisco in their category of business. It's located in the Embarcadero Center at Embarcadero 1 and it's Devils Teeth / Green Apple Bookstore. In an Embarcadero stroll I landed at Embarcadero 1 at Devils Teeth. I have tried the other two Devils Teeth stores in the Outer Richmond and the other at the Sunset Strip of San Francisco and they are legit. This store really is my favorite one now because they added my favorite bookstore Green Apple. Inside they serve the coffee and breakfast sandwiches along their known flakey pastries like some in SF. I got the breakfast sandwich from other bacon and egg on a biscuit . This combination of savory and buttery was my jam. I then I washed it down with an ice mocha which was not too sweet and the combination hit the spot. The Green Apple bookstore inside has a very good curated collection which has the right amount of books about food and the human experience. This is definitely the spot everyday of the week for breakfast and lunch . Go on a Sunday because they have $1 beignets because you cannot get anything good in San Francisco for $1 these days. San Francisco is the place to get great combinations and independent collaborations like The Mill on "Divisadero" with Josef Baker Bread and coffee from "Four Barrel" in San Francisco the city has lots of one way streets so follow the one direction "arrow"especially around the Financial District in the "Embarcadero " Go to the Embarcadero in San Francisco and become a "food crawler"the have many cafes and restaurants no matter if you are white or blue "collar"and grab a pastry and a coffee and read a book inside Devils Teeth and Green Apple and become a food "scholar"then go on a Sunday because they have beignets for "one dollar" read more

I've had the breakfast sandwich here and the beignets. The Richmond location is always packed but has a nice outdoor patio and this location is cute and clean with a bookstore while you wait. It's quite large and messy, making it hard to eat and when I had it the biscuits were a little dry. I tried the normal beignets and special strawberry ones for Valentine's Day. They're hot and fresh and well priced, I'm not an expert in beignets but I know people say they're light and pillowy. These are more dense but the flavor is good! What's up with the people that work here? I've had two really rude interactions out of about 6 visits. The first I made the mistake by asking if they were still open, "Does it look like we're open?!" was the response. (First visit). I asked because they were bringing in signage and no customers were inside. Today, I stood at the counter waiting to be acknowledged while the gal behind the counter just talked to a friend. Small location right in One Embarcadero. I stopped by on my way back to work after an appointment to get some sweets. I opted for a chocolate chip cookie and a strawberry banana muffin. Wednesday, May 14, 2025 11am: After wandering the Embarcadero Center mall of doom I came upon Devil's Teeth. Wow, $6 Avocado Toast! Threw in some bacon for $2. Such a deal. 4 stars for the friendly, fast service. No seating here, but an awesome bookstore inside. My favorite book was Serial Killer Guide to San Francisco. Anyway, the avocado chunks were generous. I liked the crispy bacon. Minus 1 star because the 'toast' was actually a sandwich. For the uninitiated, avocado toast is an open face item. My friend and I decided to check out Devil's Teeth for lunch during the week. They don't have seating inside but it is pretty spacious with a section where they have a collab with Green Apple Books. We ordered with the cashier and it came out pretty quickly around 10 minutes for our sandwiches. Regular Breakfast Sandwich - The biscuit was the star of the sandwich, homemade, fluffy, buttery and had a little bit of sweetness. The bacon and cheese came through a bit with the saltiness but the majority was the egg which had a nice texture but needed a bit more seasoning. The salsa on the side was not too spicy, a more mild flavor that added more depth to it. It does become very filling and heavy. I came on a Saturday afternoon. It happened to be bay to breakers weekend so it wasn't super busy. It was a short line to order and after ordering, they have a little section where they sell books cards, etc. for you to wait. I think it took about 15 minutes for our food to come out. I got the special breakfast sandwich ($13) but they had run out of bacon that day. You can opt to change to sausage for an extra $3 dollars. I also got a lemon bar and an iced tea. I didn't know what to expect, was pleasantly surprised! I'm not usually a breakfast person or a breakfast sandwich person let alone sausage. However, the ingredients tasted super fresh and the lemon-garlic aioli was very flavorful. But my favorite thing was a lemon bar, I even took it home and my boyfriend finished it immediately (when I was saving it for myself as a snack for later). This is a really nice spot tucked into a ground level space shared with with a small bookstore (popup?). The staff is really friendly. The cashier actually remembered my name when I went in again the same day to check out the bookstore. I tried their donut muffin and an Arnold Palmer. It had more heft to it than a typical donut but was much lighter and airier that any muffin. It had a nice crumb and tasted like a good cake donut. Yum. It's a small space, so be planning to take anything you buy to go. The coffee smelled divine. That will be a must try if I make it back there. Recommended. read more

We ordered the special breakfast sandwich via online pickup. Painless process, food was ready really fast. The one dollar surcharge for egg prices did break my heart a little bit though. Overall, the sandwich was not bad, but I would say that it looks better than it tastes. I think the salt levels were decent, and the texture of the egg was good. The bacon had a nice meatiness to it. However, the sandwich itself desperately needed hot sauce with every bite to deliver a decent punch. My general rule is that the sauce should enhance the tastes that are already there rather than deliver 85% of the flavor. The biscuit itself could have been more buttery and flakey, so I am disappointed on that end. The place itself is in a cute little nook with an attached bookstore, so the vibes were very cute. While I can't speak much to its other offerings, I would say that the special breakfast sandwich from Devil's Teeth Baking were just okay, especially for the $15 that it costs. I came here at 12:30 PM on a Sunday, and there were only a couple of people waiting for their food and drinks. There's no seating inside, so this is much more of a grab-and-go place. A little disappointed by that experience -- I was looking forward to that and I was anxious about the refund because they didn't offer me a receipt or anything of the refund. Regular Breakfast Sandwich: 5/5, the biscuit was deliciously buttery yet fluffy and the eggs were almost like a soft scramble so they were juicy and lush. A generous amount of bacon and melted cheese made this such a nice breakfast. Beignet: 4/5, for $1 each, these were delightful. They come in the bag with powdered sugar so you can reshake and cover them. They're beautiful and golden, I could definitely see myself going through a bag of these. I think our modifications made it not very good so take my review with a grain of salt. We ended up getting the morning breakfast sandwich but substituted the bacon for avocado which made the texture much worse. It also felt like it needed a sauce of some sort as well to tie it together. That being said the busicuit was great and the ingredients they used were solid. The atmosphere was interesting. I'm sure they are just working with what they have but it seemed a bit odd. A tone of wall seating is there the moment you enter divided by a small bookshelf and in the courtyard there are some old (rusty) mettle labels and chairs. None of it was bad but it didn't add much either. They were friendly and pretty quick. Water options in cardboard cups where available and they have compost as an option.
