The rosemary garlic focaccia smells and tastes great, yet salty.

Nothing in Liguria Bakery was better than their good o' paper size fluffy focaccia! Here in North Beach, one must get up as early as seven in the morning to buy at least one fluffy focaccia before it closes at noon. It's doughy delish while staying fresh after fully wrapping from top to bottom. Gotta love how a guy prepared focaccia before purchase. The interior of the greatest local bakery looks small, but it's worth a visit to buy good looking focaccia!

    Shhhhh. Still a secret

Just loved walking in casually at 11am on a Saturday morning with no line. Half off frozen focaccia and regular pizza and onion for picnic. Next week will be packed with street closures for events though

We've been coming here for years. For the past two times we had bought the pizza one, the dough has been very flat and does not look like it was fully baked to raise a bit. You know how when we bake and if dough doesn't rise it's flat, very chewy and tastes raw, well we had bought some today and yet again it's the same texture. Definitely not how it used to be to be. How disappointing. Notice how the right side slice of bread has a nice puffy texture but the rest of the bread is flat and the color even looks like it's not fully baked with dough being very chewy like it's raw.

Fresh, Fluffy, tasty, garlicky goodness! Nestled near the North Beach park, this little bakery has been baking their focaccia recipe since 1911. Wow. We ordered the garlic focaccia for $9 and it was a huge slab! We appreciated the carby goodness before we climbed to Coit Tower. Highly recommend this gem if you're a bread lover!

THIS SPOT IS A MUST-TRY. Liguria offers quite possibly one of the best focaccias I've ever had. We stopped by here early in the morning as we started the Double Cross Trail and proceeded to carry their Rosemary Garlic Focaccia for 15 miles. Carrying this focaccia felt silly at first, but it was quite possibly the most glorious thing I ever put into my mouth. We meant to each just try a piece but proceeded to devour the entire slab within mere minutes. The price is super reasonable for the size that you get. The employee was also so friendly! He was fun to chat with about the different flavor options. The only thing that's unfortunate is how limited their hours are. I would totally be coming back a lot more if they were open later into the day. Anyways, I highly recommend! I will dream of this.

Haven't been here in years because I don't come by North Beach often - I got there after 11am on a Tuesday and the only flavors left are plain or green onion. The plain is $8 and all the other flavors are $9. I chose green onion and it did not disappoint. It was fluffy, soft, tasty with just the right saltiness. My slab was a side piece which meant I got a crust on one of the sides which tends to be hard. It's the luck of the draw when you come late morning - you don't know what flavors are still available and the chance of you getting a piece with an edge are higher. You're lucky if you a slab with no edges....that means all your pieces will be soft and fluffy. One thing I notice is that it gets hard quickly after a day - so enjoy the freshness while you can. I'm glad to see at least they didn't shrink the size of the slab you get which is about 12 x 8.

My dad used to bring home focaccia from Liguria Bakery when I was a kid! Onion was our go-to, cheese & jalapeño on a less frequent basis, but still a household fave. Recently I've been seeing social media influencers discovering Liguria for the first time; they must be doing their job right because I was influenced to visit a San Francisco institution I haven't set foot in in over 30 years (which is impossible since my millennial delusion tells me I'm only 25.) Liguria Bakery is a small North Beach spot, old school & well run. Their posted hours are til noon but it's rare that they stay open for that long, as they often run out of their focaccia slabs earlier. Expect a bit of a line, even on the weekdays. Their pizza focaccia is topped with a tangy tomato sauce & a few, sparse green onions; seemingly simple but also so easy to eat. I pop a few rectangles in the air fryer for a few minutes, rinse, & repeat, & soon it's time to buy another slab.

This is the best focaccia place ever! It's so fresh and there are so many different flavors. I love the pizza one as the sauce isn't too thick and the slices are big as they're cut into rectangles. 3-4 pieces is perfect for a meal as they're really filling. Definitely recommend coming here!

Liguria is simple and profound. Their historic focaccia is worth battling San Fran traffic for every time, but get there early or you'll miss out. The airy texture, fresh ingredients, and legacy recipes are uncontested. Grab a slab or two and head over to a Washington Sq park bench. Soak up the sun and a bit of old-world delight!

My homage to Liguria's "pizza" focaccia, created with nostalgia, respect and love for the genuine article that is no longer within my reach.

My family originated in the Bay Area. My mom was born in San Francisco in 1920 and by that time, Liguria had already become an established Italian bakery in North Beach for 9 years. I grew up in SoCal, but whenever I'd visit my Italian grandparents, who always welcomed anyone and everyone who stopped by for Sunday dinner, there would always be a big plate of "pizza" focaccia cut into squares sitting on the long table for appetizers. I became addicted to this stuff as a kid in the 1960's and came to associate it with precious family gatherings. Later, when I hit my early 20's, in the 1980's I got a job in The City and moved there. I would stop by Liguria on my way to work to pick up a fresh slab or two of pizza sliced and put in a paper bag, still warm, that I would eat for lunch at least once or twice a week. I left the Bay Area and moved back to SoCal in the early 1990's and I kid you not, I've literally had recurring dreams about this place. It is so etched into my life with great memories of family members no longer around, that I found myself with a deep, emotional craving for it and spent the next 30-years trying to recreate it in my own kitchen, since driving 400 miles to pick up a slab of the real thing isn't very practical. Well, with some careful sleuth work, I finally succeeded. I am now 65-years-old and still dream about Liguria Bakery from time to time, and the people who worked there, putting everything they had into creating an outstanding product with consistency and quality for well over a century, for generations of families like mine, to enjoy. This place is a San Francisco treasure. My own homage to the pizza focaccia is now delighting my own grandchildren and other family members, alike. All hail to the Soracco family! Long live Liguria Bakery!

No frills old school bakery selling focaccia (fresh and frozen) and balls of dough. There was a short line when I came by, but it didn't take too long. They were already out of a lot of flavors around 10:00am, including the Pesto Cheese flavor that's only sold on Saturdays. Out of the flavors left, I decided to go with the Pizza Focaccia ($9.00): +Hand wrapped in butcher paper and tied with twine, it was a large slab, which made it perfect for sharing. +I warmed it up in the oven for dinner, and it was light and airy with a slight crisp. -Didn't remind me of pizza: It was just topped with tomato sauce and green onions. -Tomato sauce was sour. -After unwrapping it, I noticed that the edges were slightly burnt. Side notes: 1.) Cash & credit cards accepted. 2.) No seating: Take it to-go. *Verdict: I wouldn't go out of my way, but if I was in North Beach on a Saturday morning, I'd drop by to see if they had the Pesto Cheese focaccia available.

Stopped back around 11:15AM on a Wednesday morning, there was no line. It looked like there was only one person working there, so I had to wait a few minutes before someone came out from the back to take my order. I got the garlic focaccia for $9, which comes in a pretty big piece. The focaccia is super soft and the garlic was very yummy. Would definitely come back again if I'm in the area again.

Best darn focaccias you'll ever try in your life. Guaranteed. You have to go early in the morning to purchase them though, because they're normally sold out by noon.

Does anyone know if Liguria's open 12/24/20 and/or their winter holiday closure dates? Thank you!

They're usually open through December 24th 7am-1pm. Closed December 25 through January 2nd. Open on the 3rd. Hope this helps. Merry Christmas 🎅

SF native, I've always loved Liguria, and I remember that Andronico's used to carry their focaccia, but that was before Safeway bought the chain. Does anyone know of other places that carry Liguria Focaccia, besides the bakery itself?

    Guerra's now sells their focaccia

Does anyone know if there is cheese in the focaccia? Would love to try the pizza but can't eat dairy.

It does not. The pizza version has bread, sauce and green onions

I was gifted this fantastic focaccia from Liguria-- both the garlic and the pizza. Should I heat them, and for how long, or are the best served at room temperature?

Does anyone know their vacation days for 2018?

I stopped by Saturday and they are on vacation until the beginning on September.

Dose any one have their recipe? I'm the second generation that's has been raised on their amazing focasa bread but have moved to Kauai, HI and have missed it every Christmas…

Fly me over. I'll bring some. You could have exact recipe but it is their ingredients and those ovens that make it what it is

I tried the regular croissant, the almond croissant, and the kouign-amann. My favorite was 100% the almond croissant. All were amazing but the flavors and textures were truly exceptional. For someone to stake their cred on the line and vouched for the kougn-amann, I am def up for this challenge. We took a Waymo which is the coolest car I ever rode in. This bakery location was pretty far from the hotel, but since our friend said this is the one she often visited, so off we went. The surrounding area for this location was nice and seemed to be in a good neighborhood. Since there is no seating (which is a pity), I bought a cup of hot chocolate from next door and we sat at their seatings. Hence no eating of ambiance here. SERVICE 5/5 I have to say the staff here worked really fast despite the line. They were very efficient but not lacking the basic friendly vibe. FOOD 4/5 Kouign-amann 3/5 Sadly, my friend's cred was gone. It was just an ok kouign-amann. There was not enough sugar and I def have better kouign-amann elsewhere. Mademoiselle Louise in Houston had one of the top kouign-amann I had evereaten. It was in year 2020 and I could still remember the wonderful kouign-amann there. Savory scone 5/5 Luckily I got to try the savory scone which was very flavorful and scrumptious. Highly recommended. Our friend took a bite of the kouign-amann she bought to bring home, she commented yea it was not very good, tasted diff. My brother had a butter croissant, and commented it was flakey and pillow-y at the same time. However, it lacked of a good butttet taste. Perhaps that was the reason the kouign-amann I had paled in comparison to those I ever had, which were usually made of French butter like Elle & Vrie and other gourmet butter. I would still recommend this bakery and the best time I would get the savory scone.

I have been to Butter & Crumble two times now: once while waiting in line for an hour and a half, and the second time with one of their limited pre-ordered boxes that I got lucky enough to claim. First off, I want to say that I love how Butter & Crumble is not only a woman-owned business, but I also appreciate how you can definitely tell through its whimsical decor in their small storefront. While there is not any seating inside, there is still a lot of personality packed into the space with their pink disco croissant, pretty Instagram-worthy tiles, and the aesthetically pleasing transparent divider between customers and their working team (for patrons to watch the art of making a flaky pastry!). I truly appreciate how their menu changes every month and that all of the bakers who work there are able to showcase a specialty item. I was very bummed that I missed the prime rib and Dungeness crab pastries, so I'm hoping they bring them back again soon! Since I got a pre-order box during my last visit, the pastries were already pre-selected, so I was not able to choose what I wanted. Regardless, I was happy with the selection. I got some of their signature pastries, including: *Morty P Croissant: Salty pistachio pesto with mortadella meat, giving an Italian sandwich type of vibe. *Pistachio Cardamom Croissant: Generously filled with pistachio cream with a slight hint of cardamom. It was sweet and tasted like a cannoli, but with flaky butter pastry. *Mocha Cruffin: An excellent blend of both chocolate and espresso. It was really balanced and worked well with the cruffin shape. Mine leaked out a bit (it was stuffed more on top) and got everywhere, but I enjoyed the flavors. *Herby Olive Twist: Savory and cheesy from the Parmesan, and I enjoyed both the olive and olive oil flavors paired with flaky sea salt. Overall, do I recommend Butter & Crumble? Yes. However, I do want to call out that I wouldn't recommend waiting an hour and a half in line on a regular basis to get it, even though this spot is delicious.
