I did a fairly rigorous search of potential vendors to revamp our audio/visual setup throughout our house. We contacted Alexei on the recommendation of our contractor a couple of years ago. We wanted whole house audio, WiFi, and a few other things in home. He visited the site and walked through it with us, listening to our requests, giving feedback, and presenting us with options to fit our needs. He was very detail-oriented and took great notes. After the meeting, he sent us a summary and a (very) detailed, competitive quote. We decided to move forward. There were a few delays with the project on our end, but Alexei proceeded with what he could and patiently waited for us to get back on track. Most impressively, he was never the bottleneck, and despite our delays, we never had to wait for him or his team. When the time came to perform the final installs, the AA team was fantastic. They were very respectful of the home and careful not to damage anything. Their cable management was impeccable and they used Velcro instead of zip ties, which I greatly appreciated. Attention to detail was also big... they made sure everything was centered, any flashing lights were pointed to be less distracting, no fingerprints were left, etc. Alexei took the time to explain the entire system to us and answer any questions we had. I'm glad I did a search for audio installers located in Burlingame. I found AA Customs and read their reviews. Seeing that they have almost all 5 star reviews, I figured I'd give them a shot. I'm glad I did. Alexei was a complete professional! He showed up on time for my initial consultation. He pointed out areas I could put my in ceiling speakers, as well as an in wall subwoofer. He pointed out areas that would be difficult, but he'd be able to do. His emails were always answered in a timely manner. On the day of install, he and his crew showed up on time and covered all the furniture, windows & doorways with plastic and tape. The install took a couple days and they had to crawl in very tight quarters, but ultimately did an awesome job! They cleaned everything of all the dust which was created by the job. Alexei came back on the third day to show me how everything worked. Although I picked out very expensive equipment, I know I'll be happy in the long run. The system sounds awesome! you know what's crazy? a contractor who shows up to appointments on time, does the work as promised and at cost. Insane right? but that's what AA Custom Audio did for our living room install. We got a new big screen tv and wanted a surround sound system set up. I had a receiver so basically just wanted a center channel, 2 book shelf speakers and 2 rear, in ceiling speakers. Got quotes from 3 different places and decided to go with Alexei from AA. They ordered the speakers once I put my deposit down and called me back next week when the speakers were delivered to set up an installation appointment. They came on time, got everything installed and left instructions on how to use everything. Finished on time and on budget and even took the time to come over when I had an issue with the sound settings. Nice guys, great work, competitive prices and delivered as promised. I had AA Audio install complete stereo, DVD, CD, Receiver and U-verse in my house plus outside speakers. They also did a surrounding speakers in our ceiling and worked with us since we wanted a large speakers. They were patient and explained the benefits of each systems that we were installing, set everything in the time they told us and did a great job. But what's more impressive is that I had couple of problems on the outside speaker due to leak in the switch due to the rain this spring, they came right away and fixed the problem. Since writing my earlier review AA Customs has done a number of additional jobs at my house. I was pleased to learn that aside from top notch AV/Home Automation work they also do electrical work. AA customs upgraded my panel from 100 amps to 200 amps. I had solicited bids from three other companies prior to finding out that AA Customs could do the work. AA Customs bid came in right where I wanted it to be. Knowing that their customer service was fantastic as well as the quality of work it was a no brainer to go with them for the job. Later on we did a remodel at our house and the contractor had his own electrician that he uses. Part of the remodel required re-wiring the master bedroom and bringing a new line to the panel. The electrician open up the panel--and instead of criticizing the previous electricians work (as contractor seem to always do--sales pitch I suppose) the electrician actually complimented AA Customs stating that the work was done perfectly and that they were very impressed. Not that I needed another's validation, but I must say I felt good knowing what a great job AA Customs did. I would use AA Customs for ANY electrical work. I highly recommend them. read more

We could not have been more pleased with Alexei and his staff. He was very conscientious in his initial design and executed flawlessly. We had several TVs mounted including a 80" in one of the rooms. They all performed well with connectivity to either Sonos on surround sound systems. Additionally, we brought his team back to install Control4 thermostats in the house as well. The most important aspect which earns them 5 stars is that they left the house in exactly the same condition before they came. Everything was cleaned, removed as if they had never been there. My experience with AA Custom Audio was great. Nik came to my house to give me an estimate and I immediately knew after meeting him that this would be a positive experience. They listened carefully to what I wanted are were concerned about meeting their customer's expectations. I had them install a flat screen on a very large entertainment unit. Other companies that came out had solutions for mounting the TV that were intrusive and would damage the unit. AACA came up with a brilliant solution to minimize the impact of the mount. They ran speaker wire around the perimeter of the living room, connected all components including: X box, Apple TV, Blu-ray, cd/dvd player, receiver, monster power box, two cable boxes, and an additional flat screen in the bedroom. This was quite a job due to all the wires and they did it without drilling any holes into the wall unit. Fans were also installed at the back of the cabinet to prevent the components from becoming too hot. A RGB connection was ran from the computer to the big screen TV allowing it to be used as a monitor. AACM installed IR receivers outside the the cabinet to improve remote control reception. Update: Aug 6, 2010 I bought a new Panasonic plasma TV from AACM at a good price. They delivered and installed it. I also bought a universal remote control which eliminated 11 remotes from my living room and bedroom. The only con was having to buy a new receiver because Dish Network box could not support the latest HDMI specs. This was not their fault was unforeseen. Would highly recommend these guys. read more

They are a highly experienced group that knew pretty much everything about everything. I've been looking for a contractor for quite some time. Most of them weren't licensed and the others that were licensed had a lot of "add-on" fees or subject to change quotes. AA Custom Audio (Alexei) explained to me exactly everything that he wanted to do, everything that he would do, and everything priced by line item with no hidden suspicions. The only somewhat downside was the price of his patching team. They're expensive but they sure did a good job. Aside from price, one of the installation locations had to be moved so now the room no longer looks symmetrical. Unfortunately I don't have the funds to have whatever it was in the wall moved. Oh well, it's not Alexei's fault. In the end, I'm happy with what they did. If I were to do this again, I'd talk to them about alternative solutions for keeping the room symmetrical, because presentation is a top priority for this type of project.
