Tan-Tan Veggie Ramen: Pretty good for under $6. Noodles had proper bounce and chew. The soup had some sesame paste flavor but tasted mostly like salt and miso and was not at all spicy--no sign of chili oil. Bok choy and tofu were fresh, but they could have heated up the tofu before serving. Nicely presented, garnished with nori, scallions, bamboo shoots. Portion size is snack or light meal but totally reasonable for the price and quality. If they just called this "veggie ramen" and didn't set tan-tan expectations, I would have been happier. Either that or crumble and fry up that tofu with chili bean paste as a topping and charge me more! A for effort, C for faithfulness to the dish. You're able to order half sizes of rolls (3-4 pieces), which I love. This lets you try different things! I had the miso soup, a beast roll, the tofu roll, and a hamachi roll. Great new addition to the neighborhood! Online ordering is easy - plus I live in the area so it was nice to do a quick pick up. Not sure if sister restaurant to the "sushi go round" aa sushi in Kirkland, but the menu is set up similarly...just no carrousel inside. My order was ready within roughly 30 minutes (a few more than the online system quoted, but no biggie). The staff are friendly and would certainly be up for eating inside next time around. My sushi order + tonkatsu ramen + edamame was all pretty good. Including tip, I paid around $40+ (this included a 15% discount by ordering online for over $35) My fave was the seared salmon. Perfect char flavor! Same with the salmon bomb...nicely cooked and great flavor. The dragon roll was pretty good. Spicy tuna is straight forward. I enjoy that these rolls come in smaller portions so you can try more of a variety! The ramen was alright...broth was flavorful, but nothing super special. I'd stick to the rolls. A great spot to try lots of sushi in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle! Located next to the Ballard farmers market, parking is street only. The miso soup is on par with most I've tried. The calamari was a small portion but had great seasoning. I would get both of these things again. The service was quick and helpful - they are happy to answer questions and check in throughout. What a great spot to get rolls! I feel like I typically hate getting rolls because you can only order one (or two if you're hungry), so there isn't a ton of variety. Here, though, they do half orders of rolls, so you can try a bunch of different varieties! My partner and I ordered 8 half rolls for takeout, which came out to around $50 which was a great price. The rolls were yummy! They do have a lot more options with imitation crab or shrimp tempura or cream cheese (not for me), and I was looking for more salmon rolls, but that's okay. The rolls are cheaper, but smaller in quantity, making it much easier to try more rolls. Haven't dined in, but every time I go to pick up, the staff is always smiling and in a positive move. On a summer day nothing beats the heat like a feast of fresh fish, and so I found myself at AA Sushi, a fine purveyor of Japanese aquatic delicacies and delights. This proverbial hole in a wall, found in the heart of Seattle's Ballard neighborhood, has been home to a sushi establishment before, but gone are the snobbish decorations and high brow leather bound menu designs and their matching price tags. Here you will now be greeted with warmth, humor, and professionalism and a bowl of miso soup that will burn your mouth and make you glad for it. The menu is extensive and they offer some creative off the wall dishes such as the sushi taco. An extra crispy shell gently encasing what I can only describe as an entire poke bowl. Food came out quickly and they will bring each out as it's made, no waiting around for every dish to be ready. Fish quality was excellent, the salmon was buttery soft and clean tasting. The eel was delightfully meaty and fatty and sweet. Portions are large so be aware you may over order and find yourself taking the shameful doggy bag home. All the classics are here and very well prepared, and while I recommend the specialty items, they are quite large and could each be a meal in their own right. When you hear the phrase " inexpensive sushi," you might get nervous like I do about the quality of the sushi. However, this must be an exception as the quality of the sushi was very high and the prices reasonably low. I hope they can stay in business at these prices! It is their second location so hopefully they know their margins. We got the sashimi platter, the seaweed salad, the miso soup, and a few rolls. The menu was extensive. It could be easy to be overwhelmed, but luckily they had images all over it so you could see what you were ordering, which I find super helpful as someone who does not have a big vocabulary of sushi items. The people near us got a saki flight that looked beautiful if that's something you like. The food came out so quickly we barely had time to talk! The service was fantastic. The restaurant had both outdoor and indoor seating. The music was a little loud, but overall it had a very nice ambience. Definitely have already been recommending this place to friends. I arrived at the time my pre-oaid to go order was said to be ready. I was told twice that it would be ready soon. . I waited over 45 minutes and.when I again asked about the status of my order, I was told that my order was giiven to the wrong person. Their order was sitting on the shelf and about 1/3 of the size of my large order for a party of 4. I was barely even given an apology and told that my order would take an hour to replace. I heard this place just opened and was worth checking out. I was excited to see a new sushi spot open! I was in the area around 5pm looking for some food and thought I would give it a try. I had miso soup, green tea, 4 sets of top tier nigiri, and 3 rolls and with tip it was about $45. I have been going all the way to Cap Hill for my sushi fixes, but will be visiting here more often. The server was very kind and helpful, she was the only one on the floor with about 8 tables going at a time, so if you come in be a little patient, it's worth it. Everything came out quickly, was great quality, and a good atmosphere. Just maybe not the "I have 20 minutes to eat" pace. I was in no rush and felt attended to without feeling like she was trying to flip my table and push me out. She checked in on me a few times to make sure I was happy. Ordering is simple and straightforward, you write the rolls on the ordering paper and hand it to the server. My partner and I split a katsu bento box and ordered four sushi rolls. Food came out in 10 minutes and everything was great! The sushi was very fresh and the proportions were perfect, simple and tasty. I don't love writing this, but we came here tonight for my birthday and the service was not great. The servers don't appear to be working in sections. It seems like every person is hovering around every table, and its not a very efficient system. Common things like greeting us, introducing themselves, seeing if we had a reservation, checking to see if we liked our food or wanted more food were not addressed. We never ended up receiving one of our rolls. It's nearly impossible to get a server's attention because this place doesn't slow down on a Friday night. Look, I've worked in busy restaurants as a server before and in my opinion, this place would be much better if they slowed down and focused on communication versus trying to maximize table turnover. I called Tuesday to update our RSVP from 8 to 10. It doesn't seem that my updated RSVP was even communicated. Don't come here with big groups. Come here with 2-3 people. They don't have the teamwork infrastructure to accommodate a big party. Unlike many places where I've seen management have requested individuals to move off property, they decided to give a to go bag of food to this person.
