If I could put no stars, I would. AAA is only good for towing your car and maybe fixing a flat tire. But that's where the usefulness stops. I have been a customer for over 20 years and have my house and cars insured with them. A few months ago we had a lot of rain and a huge storm in LA which is unlike our normal weather. Unfortunately, my roof and windows leaked causing major damage in the house. I made a claim with AAA, hoping they would do what they're supposed to do but I was wrong. They sent an adjuster to come take a look at the roof, to see if it was going to be covered or not. I found out that the adjuster actually works for AAA, so clearly they are bias. It should be an independent contractor so that it's not always done in the insurance company's favor. After he came by the house, he said my claim according to my policy is invalid. So what is insurance for then? Anyway, he went on the roof to review the damage and BROKE SOME TILES. You read that right, AAA came to my house to deny my claim and BROKE TILES ON MY ROOF. He said we will pay for the damage he created on the roof. After MANY CALLS to AAA, I said they need to come and fix the tiles that AAA broke. To add insult to injury, they sent me a check for $53. How am I supposed to fix my roof with $53 to fix the DAMAGE THAT AAA CAUSED??? I am not a roofer and it is not my job to FIX DAMAGE THAT MY INSURANCE COMPANY CAUSED. This wasn't damage from the storm, this was EXTRA from them coming by and looking at the roof to just deny my claim. Wait, something important to know. The check was only $53 because the damage that the AAA rep caused was $553. So, they sent a check after my deductible. You read that right, THEY CHARGED MY DEDUCTIBLE FOR DAMAGE THEY CAUSED TO MY ROOF. DAMAGE THAT AAA CAUSED TO MY ROOF. And LIE after LIE with all the calls and different managers and supervisors. They said they are going to send me $500 to cover the deductible but THEY HAVE NOT. Instead what they did, after realizing how illegal it is to charge me a deductible for damage they caused, they send $500 to the roofer to fix AAA's damage. I spent thousands of dollars to fix the REST OF THE ROOF and items that should have been covered under my insurance policy. To summarize: AAA denies my claim for roof damage, claiming roof damage is not covered by my home owners policy for some unknown reason. The AAA rep goes on my roof to review the damage and BREAKS TILES HIMSELF. He claims that AAA will cover the cost. They send me a check for $53 and use my deductible $500. So AAA breaks my roof tiles and subtracts a deductible as if it's a claim. I left several messages for the manager, Shelly Macintosh and she NEVER RETURNED MY CALLS. read more

I have AAA for Auto Insurance, which I think is great, as well as roadside coverage which is the best deal you'll ever find. I am taking one star away for the customer service sales reps and one for their high rates. Back in 2003.. I was rear ended while parked at a stop light. AAA was great and waived my deductible since it was clearly not my fault. Later, I totaled my Honda Civic on the 405. AAA cut me a check almost immediately, pretty much in the same amount I'd paid for the car two years earlier. I was amazed. Points for AAA. The bad: My auto insurance rates more than doubled for the next three years, so I basically returned the money they'd given me for that Civic. Oh well, I think any policy would do the same thing. Also, they took CPA's off their "professional discount" rate which sucks for me. Flash forward to today... I've been listed as a driver on my sister's policy for the last year and called AAA to ask if I bought a new car, if I'd be covered. They said no. I called around and only AAA would do auto insurance over the phone and was open on Saturday, so I was forced to use them if I wanted to buy a car on a Saturday and be able to drive it off the lot. I figured I could always cancel later if I find cheaper insurance. At the dealership, I call AAA to set up my policy, which takes WAAAAY longer than it should have, and the guy tells me about this 11% early cancellation fee. I think, crap, but oh well, I'm stuck. Hang up and the dealer tells me it's California law for me to be covered under my old polcy, even if I was just listed as a driver. Fail to the rep that lied to me. So on Monday, I get the insurance documents emailed to me and it says IN THE DOCUMENT that I have 60 days in which to accept or not accept it, and if I choose not to, I will be charged for the insurance a pro-rated # of days. Woah, does that mean I CAN cancel in 60 days without a fee? I call my sales rep to ask and he gets SUPER defensive and is like "where are you reading that" and says he's never seen that clause before and he's not a lawyer and can't interpret it anyways. He repeats to me about five times that he told me about the 11% fee on the phone. I say that I know that, I'm just trying to understand the disparity in the document he sent. He says he doesn't know. There's silence and I ask if maybe he can check with his supervisor or someone. He eventually calls me back and says that despite what the document says it's what he told me on the phone. Ok fine whatever. I'll give him that only because he DID tell me on the phone about it. I then ask about why I didn't get a professional discount for my CPA and he proceeds to list all the people that DO get the discount. I say, what happened to CPA? He renames the people that get the discount. I repeat, what happened to CPA,I used to get a discount. He says, no you didn't. I'm like uuhhh I had AAA for like 5 years and I did. He renames the people that get the discount. I was pretty irritated at this point (and I'm pretty patient) so I just stopped talking to him. Vent complete. Long story short: don't expect the sales reps on the phone to know anything, or to be particularly competent, but the coverage is pretty good. read more

Battery was dead in car - anytime to start the car it needed to be jumped. ANYTIME. The battery is from AAA and under the 36 months warranty - which according to them will be replaced by AAA for free. A service member came out, tested it and said the readings were fine and it was not the battery. I would find out today AAA does fraudulent testing when they come and test their batteries. This is a common practice done often by AAA so that they do not have to replace a faulty battery at their cost. This morning the car would not start (AGAIN) and was taken to a repair shop where indeed they also did a reading and in fact it is a bad battery. I first became a AAA customer and member in 1982. Recently I switched from State farm to AAA handing insurance for our cars, our home and potentially our business. All seemed to be going along smoothly until I received a letter from the Underwriting Department informing me that our homeowners policy was to be cancelled after a month as their home inspector claimed to be unable to verify the condition of our house despite having inspected it it person. She noted an inability to verify bolted foundations (ever hear of shining a flashlight into the crawl space? Our home has been foundation bolted for well over a decade). She noted she was unable to verify new plumbing and roof, both of which were replaced in 2016 with city permits on file and visibly in A+ condition. I contacted Edward Mendoza of the Underwriting Department and his manager David Kimora to ask that the record be corrected. Neither bothered to return my phone calls, so I contacted the California Department of Insurance and filed a claim against AAA and cancelled all my business with the company. That caught someone's attention and the rep who originally sold me the policies called asking me to reinstate. I declined having returned to State Farm. I should note that it took further calls to AAA to insist they cancel my auto insurance and just today received a bill from the company totaling nearly $2000.00. I'd always held a high opinion of AAA but the slap-dash Underwriting Department changed that. I shall await a ruling from C.D.o.I. in hope I can get some of my money refunded. read more

This AAA location is conveniently located just a few blocks away from my house. I come here for all the DMV things I am able to do here, have had a membership for years, and get my car insurance through them. Usually when I go to this location, everyone I encounter is professional, courteous, and helpful. My last visit (yesterday) however was not like this at all. Long story short, I got married in February and since the end of April/beginning of May, I have been trying to get the lien holders for my car to submit the paperwork to the DMV notifying them of the name change, so they could change the name on the registration/title. This was only just submitted to them on 6/7 and I haven't heard anything from the DMV yet. I went in to AAA to see if they could look up the name on the title/registration to see if it had been done yet, or what I still needed to do to get it all taken care of. I'm called up to a window, and this woman (did not get her name, but she was at least late 40s, early 50s with brown curly short hair and glasses) seems to have no clue what I was talking about. You would think I was the first person in the whole world to get married then actually want to change my name while I had a car financed. (She said they wouldn't be able to do this without redoing the loan...um what? I'm changing my own name, I'm not giving it to someone else) She told me that in her 25 years of work there, she had never heard of such a thing (Someone changing their name while they had a car financed?! How is it that rare?!). Anyways, after arguing with her about that for a few minutes (since I was not there to ask for advice on how to do that process), I ask her to just look up the car and see what it says because my registration is due in a week and need to make sure everything is taken care of. She looks up the car and then tells me the title name change is "in limbo" and that she has no idea why, or what I can do to fix it. FANTASTIC! Very helpful, lady - how the hell do you still have a job? When I asked if I should go to the DMV for more information, she said that she's in their website now and she's telling me all the information anyone will have (which is literally nothing. She was able to tell me nothing). So I leave, because obviously I will not be getting anywhere with this woman. Sitting in the parking lot, I call AAA Customer Service to see if they can be more helpful/accommodating. After a 5 minute phone call, they were able to tell me exactly what I needed to do to complete my title name change request by looking at the DMV information. It blows my mind that they were able to help me that quickly, and knew exactly what I was talking about, after my experience with the representative in the office. The only reason I gave this review 2 stars was because everyone else I encountered during my visit yesterday were great, and in the end I was able to solve my problem thanks to AAA Customer Service. read more

This is great company to deal with! I was with another insurance company and I was hit by an uninsured driver. The accident was his fault and and witnessed by a CHP. Mercury fought me tooth and nail to be reimbursed by my own uninsured motorist coverage. I eventually had to sue them to get my bills paid. Needless to say, I switched to AAA! When my son wrecked my car...they took care of the whole process. There were involved with from fixing the car to settling the damage. The rates increased for his coverage for three years at a reasonable rate. So, I feel that AAA has taken care of me when an accident happens! For generations, my families have used AAA services: Membership, Auto and Homeowners; until I was UNFAIRLY treated by AAA services. I had my auto for a few years and when I purchased my new home in 2013 of course, I used AAA. The turning point was when AAA moved into a new billing system. You did not track all of my payments. When I visited the Rancho Cucamonga office, then they through investigation found my new account number. However, they were not able to locate all the payments. The second issues was when I purchased another car and was transferring my insurance to the new purchase. When they calculated the insurance for the new purchase, it was less than what I was paying before. Then the following month I received a bill owing approx.. $122.00. I called and requested an accounting because I knew that I had paid my payment in full. Nevertheless, the manager that I spoke with stated that in fact that I did owe. I asked the manager, has AAA ever made an accounting error with customer's billing. He replied, yes. I thanked him for his honesty. My response, so why is it so hard to agree that in my case there be an ERROR! Here is what is simply WRONG: The next time I called, I was told that the account was sent to collections and that it was nothing I could do. I was out done. Per the person AAA manager, I thought he was going investigate the complaint. To no AVAIL, they sent this account to collection = WRONG. I did not pay because, I thought it was wrong and why should I pay for what I did not owe. After that experience I cancelled my auto and went to GEICO. The next thing I did was CANCEL my homeowners. I began to tell my family and friends. And one by one they cancelled AAA services. - keeping they AAA membership. I am still impacted by your UNFAIR practices. Now, this account is on my credit. It is impacting my credit. It's a 122 or so. I could be it, however, it's still WRONG. Now, I feel I being strong ARMED by AAA. I can not renew my membership because I owe a balance. Again, that wrong. I need your HELP! I would like to see if I can get the balance removed and a letter sent to all the credit agencies removing the negative item. If I don't get a satisfactory resolution, I will be forced to take this matter to the court of public opinion - leverage EVERY Social Media Outlet to tell everyone that will listen. Just Make Sure you have the amount in cash. No cards or atm accepted. I think they may accept checks but I never use them. Anyway it was much easier than the good ol DMV. read more

We recently had a really unusual bad storm affecting Lancaster, where I live. We had winds recording 70 to 75mph along with heavy rain. I carry AAA insurance, had damage to my roof and indoor ceiling. AAA sent out an adjuster who told myself and my brother it appeared a couple of tiles had shifted along with damage to the sealant around the flashing. However, he did not put the shifted tiles in his report AAA told me, so I received a denial letter from AAA. This is ridiculous because if this is not wind and rain I do not know what it is. AAA was known to be a reputable insurance carrier. This adjuster showed no proof of roofing experience, no contractors license, etc., and the fact he lied to AAA, and they did not even send out someone for a second opinion is just totally unfair. I realize they probably had many claims but that is no reason to just decide to refuse legitimate ones puts them in my opinion a lousy category and I am going to have to fight their decision and should not have to. The employee at the Costa Mesa office was a knucklehead, Oliver Carrillo-Gomez. All information on the documents for my daughters policy was WRONG; birthdate, first licensed. I submitted correct information but he changed it. It was a huge mistake to switch to AAA. What a mess; when time came to make a payment, the price was different from what he quoted me, my calls weren't answered nor were they returned. No one could assist me. I will definitely NOT stay with AAA. Seems as they hire numb-nuts to deal with the public, someone who can get an application completed, LIES AND ALL, for their benefit. They will give you a bid close to your current insurance (NOT LESS like all the commercials say) then when they do an onsite physical inspection it will immediately go up by 30%. Their contract requires a year lock-in and they don't do the onsite review until you have switched to their insurance (irritating your previous insurance company.) PLEASE don't get scamed. I've been here twice in the past month to pay the registration on two different cars that I waited until the last minute to get smogged. Even if you never use the towing service, your membership pays for itself if you are like me and wait until D-Day to pay your auto registration. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! From first walking in the door and meeting the friendly people at the service desk to walking out and them telling you to have a great day ....... tis an awesome place!!!! They have a DMV service center where you can renew your tags and do NOT have to wait for hours upon hours like you do at the DMV! It's cash or check for DMV services (no ATM) and it's open from 9 to 5 so the hours are awesome! They also have a travel center (I haven't booked travel, YET) ANDDD they have an on-site smog TEST ONLY center in their parking lot. I have been a AAA member for 23 years this year and I have NEVER had a bad experience with them. I used to carry AAA auto insurance but switched when my (then) employer offered it direct billing from my paycheck - never had to worry about a late fee again, but I did KEEP my membership! I'm thinking of switching back to AAA insurance since I'm not at the previous place anymore! I have used their Travel Center for the free maps and travel books for members and for calling in the middle of being L-O-S-T!!!! Their emergency roadside assistance people are THE BOMB! Always polite and willing to help, even when I'm seriously lost! But above all of this, I have to say that I have never seen a better representation of CUSTOMER SERVICE, their attitudes and their customer service is just amazing, it's miraculous! Other companies would do well to emulate AAA's Best Practices - and their tow service guys are just amazing! I lock my keys and or my purse in my car on freaking average of 3 times a year and I've called the AAA Emergency Road Service - they are wonderful and have sent awesome guys to come to my 'rescue like knights on white stallions' lol..... seriously, and I've usually tipped the guys 5.00 because they are just awesome! Most of them don't want to take it so I leave it on the seat in their truck before I pull off in my car. I just had to write this today because I LOCKED MY KEYS IN MY CAR AT AAA!!!!!! LOL... how's that for classic! Also, when I got into a wreck and the CHP wanted to call a tow I said NO THANKS, MY OWN AAA driver is on his way!!!! You know you can trust a shop or tow company that is AAA Certified because they are all inspected and undergo SEVERAL reviews a year to keep their ...... hmmmm ... preferred?? status..... they just ROCK! Also, their drivers ask me 'where would YOU like to take the car' and aren't trying to get some sort of 'garage kickback' by recommending a place, I just hate that because it's bad enough to be broken down or in a wreck w/o having slimy jerks show up to 'help' you out, grrrrrrrrr..... Anyway, if you have a AAA membership and ask companies, hotels, restaurants and other shops in Orange County, web purchases and just about anywhere if they 'OFFER A AAA DISCOUNT' and they do, the discounts MORE than pay for the membership fee! My parents purchased my first AAA membership for me for my 21st Birthday, and tomorrow (Halloween) is my 44th birthday CELEBRATING with an AAA card in my wallet....... I even purchase AAA memberships for my now grown kids as part of their Christmas presents........ since they've been driving and now they are 23, 26, and 29.... so it's something all parents could do for their kids to ease their anxiety level when their kids are out driving around (especially if you have grand babies riding with them!!!!! ) Anyway, after today I just had to write and share about this AWESOME company, AMAZING service and I don't even have a word to describe their customer service other than OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!!! On July 12, 2018 I paid $569.29 for six weeks of Mexican auto insurance. It was NOT a deluxe policy. It was pretty basic. It's just very expensive. I have a warning about buying Mexican Insurance from AAA of Southern California. They take your money very smoothly and conveniently over the Internet, and they create an account for your Mexican insurance, complete with AAA user ID and password. But then when you try to use your ID and password, you're out of luck. At least, that's what happened to me. They claimed they don't have access to the records of my account, even though I paid them $569.29 just eleven days ago. Lorena's anonymous supervisor And when I asked to speak to a supervisor, the supervisor wouldn't talk to me. I asked for the name of the supervisor, who was "handling the investigation" into my account, Lorena told me she has no idea what the name of that supervisor is--even though she just spent over ten minutes talking to the supervisor. I can not even print out the policy. I am driving in Mexico with no printed policy, and AAA of Southern California, Costa Mesa call center, tells me neither I nor they can access my account because of "privacy". Apparently the person in charge there is Angela Brown. But I am not allowed to speak to her. I said to Angela's subordinate, supervisor Sophia Shack, "I authorize you to access my account." She said, "I can not use your user ID and password to access your account." I said, "Even though I authorize you to do so?" She said NO. Then suddenly, after an hour on the phone, Sophia told me they had sent me a pdf of my policy. Angela Brown, why did you leave me and Sophia hanging for so long? ...UPDATE: It turns out you might be able to access your policy if you spend an hour asking to talk to supervisors and explaining that you need a copy of your policy. But you have to be very, very insistent. I finally got a copy of my policy exactly ONE HOUR after my call started. It's good I have a special Mexico phone plan or it would have been prohibitively expensive. read more

Autumn began to assist me with a vehicle title transfer when the DMV went down in their system, causing me an additional trip back to the store at a later time. We got all the paperwork out of the way but the title was not in My Name by the time I left the shop. Autumn maintained her professionalism throughout with a smile on her face, genuine attitude, and honesty. We are in Covid 19 lockdown and AAA says they will refund 20% of premiums because they "care" about their policyholders. Well, I got my check in the mail and it turns out to merely be 20% of premium of the two months of the year. That is only 3.33% of premiums paid for the year. This FRAUD or misleading advertising at the least. They just want to use the higher number for advertising. Other insurance companies are refunding MORE since they are refunding on a larger time period. For example, GEICO refund 15% of 6 mos premium period which equates to 7.5% of the years premium. Be careful to compare the numbers since They are lying and scamming the public on this issue. Very disappointed during this pandemic period. read more

This office has the poorest business skills I've ever seen both on the telephone and in writing. They are only good at creating problems and confusion. They have been accused of violating Business Ethics Codes, the worst customer service and lying. They have cost me $4,000.00 in damages and won't even respond to my lawyer. Their contract towing company is a joke! They would be good for demolition work and loitering. Even the police department is aware of their indiscretions. I've never in my entire life seen a group of "business people" behave in the manner that they have. read more

This was honestly the best service I could've asked for. I just moved from out of state and wasn't terribly clear on the entire process of transferring my title and registration to California. Not only was the person at the front desk helpful, but the woman who changed my registration was wonderful. All of it went smoothly and they explained the entire ordeal. What I feared would be a lengthy process including the DMV and a separate smog check facility turned into a single trip to the AAA. The smog check here was also good. It took a little longer than expected (30, 35 minutes?) but only because the station had engineers checking out the garage for future equipment set up. read more

I recently visited on wed may 1st 2019 and the staff was very rude. Unbeknownst to me i was standing in the wrong line and the customer service agent Gabby was being very rude, and speaking to me as if i was a child. After yelling at me for about 2 minutes for mot having anything but my id, Joshua stepped in and tried to help. However they both were extremely rude. Neither one made eye contact and they were both chewing gum which in customer service is outrageous. While Joshua was helping me a Air Force service man walked up to the counter and Gabby proceeded to be rude to him as well, he walked away and i was still at the counter she started to talk to Joshua and laugh about the serviceman's dead sister, thats sick if you ask me... wont be returning to this branch again. read more

Wow... Incredible... One of the most pleasant experiences, customer service speaker I have ever had. The office was well decorated for enthusiastic vacation seekers. Was inside door to door no more than 5 minutes to obtain license plates that the State of CA automatically destroys when delivered to an incorrect address. The gentlemen at the front desk who checked me in, and I believe the young lady "Amanda" were both so incredibly wonderful, friendly, and efficient. Strongly considering switching all insurance needs to AAA. read more

I was extremely disappointed that AAA offered no discount on membership due to the inability to access in store services, such as DMV, during the Covid-19 closure. I spoke with management, Josh in Membership Services, and it seemed as though my issue was insignificant.
