I truly wish I could rate this location as less than one star. I called to bundle my insurance policies (automobile, earthquake, and home owners) and Danielle Braunstein "helped me" do this. She made it seem as if it would all be so easy and never gave me a timeline as it relates to canceling the existing policies I had. I waited about 45 days to cancel my existing insurance and did so with the help of another AAA staff member who said the notes revealed that our policies had been approved. In fact, this staff member even called my mortgage company with me on the line and helped me to get everything set up to be paid through our escrow account. One month later, I get a letter saying our homeowners/earthquake policies will be canceled because we live to close to a commercial business. This was something that could have been investigated with a simple google search of our property before the policies were set up and deposits were given. I contacted Danielle and she told me that she ALWAYS tells her customers to wait 90 days before canceling! However, if this was said, I wouldn't have canceled my other policies. I thought I was making my life easier by attempting to get all of our insurances with one provider. I then had to return to the former agent and now my insurances are split. Of course AAA wants to continue to keep my auto policy and charge be a FEE for early cancellation. This is TRULY THE WORSE INSURANCE EXPERIENCE IVE EVER HAD!!! I contacted friends I have who work for AAA and they were convinced that I had a representative who was interested in commission only. Here I stand, angered and disheartened. He took the time to answer all our questions on specific policies (and we had a lot!), often following up after hours or making himself available around our busy work schedule. We had called AAA previously for quotes and never felt comfortable enough to move from our regular agent at Farmers, even when the quote was competitive, but after working with John it was an easy decision to make the switch. The only problem I have had was when I took my '94 car in to have it smogged. I had to sit there for 4 hours while they " took care of it"! During those hours, I watched everyone bring their cars in, and leave. At almost 90 years old, that was too much for me to handle. I will have to find another place that knows how to take care of my car. read more

I booked a trip to Hawaii through the Travel Agency. I haven't even been on the island for 3 hours and it's been nothing but a hassle. The itinerary was placed under my Goddaughter's name. She had nothing to do with the booking. She's not even old enough to check-in!!! Even AAA doesn't know how that happened either. So how did that happen?! So, finding my tickets, transportation, and the hotel was a real pain. When we arrived, the transportation company that AAA setup for us to take us to the hotel took about 45 minutes before a bus showed up. FYI - this company that they booked, Robert's Transportation, charges $23/ person (times 3 that's $69 total). An Uber for 3 - $26.00, Extra Comfortable - $54. When we arrived at the hotel, the second room was under my other Goddaughter's name but they told me that they had no idea that we were traveling together... even though I called and spoke with them, the AAA agent spoke with them, and so did the vendor they dealt with sent them an email. When I checked in, they repeated what I was told last week... they did not know we were traveling together... how is that possible when they had 3 different sources tell them otherwise??? I spent thousands of dollars for a hassle free experience. It's been nothing but a hassle and I just got here!!! I was better off booking this trip through Expedia or Costco Travel. BTW, Costco Travel has deals where the resorts they have will waive the resort fees. I would give no stars to AAA Travel if that was possible. read more

What a bunch of Idiots on the AAA phone lines. I have received 4 different answers from 4 different people regarding my homeowners policy. Now all I want is to call the corporate headquarters to file a complaint, but I cant even get that number. I have been a member for 10+ years and now this makes me very nervous if I ever need to file a claim. I was promised a return call 32 days ago...I am still waiting, and waiting and waiting. Have I been living under a rock? I was super excited to find out that if you are a Triple A member you can get movie tickets here, so I headed over after work yesterday. You can get tickets to Regal, Edwards and United theaters for $8.00. If the movie is over 2 weeks of being out, it is $7.00. The first purchase is a minimum of 4 and over that you can buy as many as you want. I checked right in and within 5 minutes I was at the window. The guy who helped was very nice, seemed like all the people who worked there were very friendly and patient. To me, this is a better deal than purchasing tickets at Costco for the wait in line. Super happy, as a movie goer and the summer coming, this is a great deal. Pleasant experience and good customer service. read more

We've had their service for over 30 years. Our battery died. We got a new battery but couldn't get the old one out to put the new one in. The nuts were such that we needed better tools to loosen them than we had access to. We called AAA, and they absolutely refused to offer assistance. They said they will only assist with batteries if you buy one of their batteries. They offered to call a service station in the area to go help us, but we were told we had to pay whatever that service station wanted to charge us, and they couldn't tell us how much that would be. Or they offered to tow us to a service station of our choice within seven miles and dump us there where we could pay the service station for assistance. Considering it was night, it would probably mean over-nighting there at the service station waiting for someone to open the next day. Why would you tow a car with a dead battery just so you can pay someone else to loosen the nuts? Would it not be faster and cheaper for AAA to just have the tow truck they call loosen the nuts for us? It's far faster to loosen the nuts and pull out the old battery than hook a car up to a tow truck and tow it across town. AAA does not use simple common sense. Doing this will only raise everyone's rates due to the extra, useless towing of cars. Be careful in believing AAA will assist you when your car is disabled. All they'll do is assist you in paying more money to them or someone else -- and wasting lots of time doing it. Save your money. Don't buy AAA. read more

Have been with AAA for my Auto and Home insurance for 20+ years and have never had a problem in fact I have been extremely happy with their service until I had a slab leak about 1 year ago. Thats when I had to deal with Ashley Burroughs a claim adjuster from the Santa Ana office. She was contentious and accusatory from the first phone call. I was on the defensive immediately and had to practically beg her to take a look at my case. She made me feel as if I was trying to pull a scam to get money out of AAA, meanwhile this was my first homeowners claim ever. read more

I was insured with AAA for many years and for the first 5 years was very happy with the experience I had. After that I started having issues with my service. I requested to have a vehicle removed from my policy. I was told by the rep it was removed. About 6 months later when I received my renewal notice this vehicle was still on my policy. I called and spoke to another rep which promised this would be fixed and would receive my refund in a few weeks. A few months had past and still nothing. By this time I was beyond frustrated and called back. I requested to speak with a manager but was told they were all in meetings but she assured me that I would receive a call back by the end of the business day. I have never heard back from that so called supervisor. It took a full year and a half to get this vehicle removed from my policy. Very frustrating to go through this. I have talked to many other members/insureds of AAA and have found I was not the only one to experience this. I am no longer insured by AAA and have no desire to ever return. read more

I am a PLUS member of AAA. I have been a AAA member for 30+ years. I was on the freeway towing a boat on a trailer. I had two blowouts and called AAA for roadside assistance. I was told I did not have RV coverage, and I explained I needed roadside service for tire service on a boat trailer tire, not a RV. I told the AAA operator I had never been offered RV coverage, and I thought paying extra for the PLUS coverage would be sufficient. I was told to see the specific notice of RV coverage on AAA renewal forms, for $37 dollars a year. That reference on the renewal form states RV and motorcycle coverage. I do not consider a boat trailer as a RV and every insurance commercial or ad I see will specifically show icons or actual cars, atvs, boats, motorcycles, motorhomes and travel trailers. I used a private tow company which cost me $250 and AAA refused to reimburse me or offer any explanation how they consider a boat trailer a RV. I have dropped the PLUS option and will only keep the basic membership to use the DMV service which is just little better than making an appointment and going to the DMV. read more

The Claim Manager at this ins company gave me the worst experience i ever had with an ins company. So, their client smashed into my brand new toyota prius c, I told her that i dont want to repair it i want replace it with a new car. She said " oh depend on who you sell your car to not everyone check the car fax!" Thanks Carly( claim Manager) So she went on and on and on, i let her finished. Finally, when she did, i pointed how how ridiculous that sound and of course she started to give me attitude because she realized how stupid she sounded. The roadside "assistance" is a joke. Our car ran out of gas so we placed a call at 1:00AM. We were given an arrival time of no later than 1:40AM. No one came so we placed another call to check status at 1:45am. The arrival time has changed to 2:04AM. We then received a text stating the arrival time is now 2:40AM. Yes, another 40 minutes delay, so they said. So we waited and waited on the side of the freeway. No one showed up by 2:45AM. We ended up calling the CHP and they called AAA again on our behalf and got a tow truck to come after 30 minutes. AAA probably was never going to show up if we hadn't called CHP. The service was terrible and they couldn't explain why there were multiple delays. What kind of roadside assistance makes you wait 2+ hours on the side of the freeway? Absolutely terrible. read more

Just had the most vile nasty customer service at the harbor location on 6/2/15 at 1:00pm, where the receptionist went from nice to extremely belligerent the second I said I'm not a member. I was literally about to BECOME a member, but it got so heated because of how evil she was, that I had to complain to the mgr. She then lied to the mgr that she had offered me solutions which she never did, I called her out to him "no you didn't" and she changed her story and lied again, then the manager tried to get me to buy a membership get my DMV services, and then cancel it. Finally, I go up to two people who have been free for awhile and ask if my name was overlooked. She says she can help me but not trained in what I need. When I ask who is, I'm told no one there is trained in Maps! All I needed was someone to help with the route up Coast highway due to closures, and the best alternate route around closures! Really AAA??? I RARELY use my membership, and when I finally do, I can't get the service I have paid for over the years. No point in renewing this membership anymore. read more

This office especially messed me with an attractive multi-discount quote only to revoke the home insurance just a couple of months later because they somehow assumed the underwriter would ok (when they were not). Shady transactions and I am the one messed up. THE OFFICE WOULD NOT RETURN MY EMAILS and PHONE AFTER THAT. Shame on AAA. Oh, later, my car insurance went up because I didnt have multi-discount and they dont have a moral obligation to compensate themselves. We had the worst experience with AAA on May 29, 2017. Background: After having a previous horrible experience of our jet ski trailer having a tire problem and them refusing to help us because only our car was covered, which then brought on a $500 towing fee - we purchased additional roadside assistance that covered our boat trailer/RV. This is a family plan. Our son then turned 22 and they required that we give him a separate account - which we did and were paying even more money since we didn't get the benefit of the family plan discount. Situation: Our son is driving back from the River with our Jet Skis on May 29th. And he gets a flat in CA and calls AAA to come help him get the spare off our trailer - he is missing a basic wrench - has EVERYTHING else - spare, 2 jacks, etc. They immediately transfer him through to tow company to pay them for that service direct - not covered by AAA according to them. I am furious - I am paying extra for the trailer coverage - this should be free. I call AAA - the gal I talk to says- "oh yes, he is covered for the trailer, I don't know why they did that, we will call your son to get his location and take care of it". THEY NEVER CALLED HIM! So my 2 children ages 22 and 18 are beside a freeway and AAA never calls them to help them. After waiting an hour, My son gives up and ditches the trailer and drives to Walmart to get the wrench (and had the insight to buy two new trailer wheels in case the spare isn't good). He comes back to trailer and let's me know what's happening. I call AAA again - I am furious again! This rep tells me there is a record of my son's call "which your son canceled" - yah, because you were going to charge him for it!! And they have NO RECORD of my call, where the gal said my son WAS covered for the trailer and she would call my son and get his location. OMG - unbelievable. It's been several hours now and they are still beside the freeway in the dark working on the tire change. I insist they send someone out - as they were supposed to have done 2 hours ago! I pay for this service, we should get it. When tow driver showed up - he was polite, but frankly my son had already changed BOTH tires and was just putting jack in the truck. NONE of this should have happened - AAA was 1. wrong in his coverage 2. negligent in not following through with the second call 3. left my 2 kids beside the road in the dark for almost 3 hours. On my day off work, I decided that it would be a good idea to run some errands. I called ahead of time to ensure I'd be able to pick up a new registration sticker with ease. After waiting about 30 minutes, I was told I owed the DMV an additional $21 dollars. Annoying, but whatever, fine. At this point I just wanted to pay, get my sticker, and leave. I got my wallet out to pay and the girl tells me: "Sorry, we're cash or check only." ...What? What 21st-century person carries cash anymore? When I called prior AND when I checked in, NO ONE informed me that this transaction would be cash or check only. Had I had been notified prior, I would have happily brought my checkbook along. But no- no one notified me. So, after waiting for 30 minutes, I had to leave, get back into my car, drive to the closest gas station, and use an ATM because there is no ATM on site. Then, I return, and was told the wait would be 5 minutes. Wrong. I waited AN ADDITIONAL 25 minutes until I could get my f*cking sticker. Overall, it took me WELL OVER AN HOUR to get a simple registration sticker. I would have had better luck at the DMV. Finally David came to the rescue and was apologetic about my wait, which is the only reason why I'm giving this location 2 stars instead of 1. Advised her I was in a bathroom at a store, advised to her I'd call back and ask for her. Called back, a man named "M" answered, he refused to transfer me. I needed roadside assistance more than ever in my life and they kept rerouting me to different phone numbers trying to get me to renew this and that. I was on hold 3 separate times for over 15 minutes in a time sensitive situation. I was a long time customer. I was able to call the tire place I was going to, they found a tow driver, and got my tire on. AAA completely failed when I needed them most, I will never use them again. read more

The people inside the building are very nice. however, no one ever answers the phone. i have called every number they have. only to be left in automated purgatory until i just give up. It's been 20 minutes so far and the same looping crappy music. Also, they offer smog checks but you can never get a wait of less than an hour no matter what time you show up. The are slow as shit and completely unhelpful out there were they do the smoggin. F this place. i am not renewing my membership. First we had a problem with their auto pay- then celled in to fix the problem with the auto pay three(3) times. then received a cancellation letter and it was paid. called, talked to shawn but asked for a supervisor- this shawn person had to tell me everything, repeated my request for a supervisor just to have this shawn tell me that he will have to inform me on what going on with my insurance. asked several times for a supervisor but shawn had to tell me-I repeated asking for a supervisor and I did not want to talk to him. I hung up on shawn just to have him call me- t informed shawn that I do not want to talk to him- I wanted a supervisor. I hung up again- just to have him call me again. I called AAA again just to hear the run around again- talk to chris the same supervisor I talked to before and he played stupid about what we talked about on the 13th of this month. if you like problems- AAA is for you- if you want good customer service best to keep looking!!! read more

These people are completely business illiterate. Tried to simply add a car to my policy and the first person I talked to at the corporate office on Fairview would be a fit at the local DMV office. She was rude, snarky, and all around overly authoritative as if I'm doing them some kind of favor by calling. She presented some expensive new policy, when I said I just wanted the same policy as before she told me I HAD no choice and must the more expensive policy. When I pressed for a reason why she then backtracked and said I didn't have to have the more expensive policy. WTF!?!?. Once I finally got the policy I needed I went to the Harbor Blvd location. I went in and lo and behold had to deal with the same bratty, indifferent , snarky attitude with some girl with purple hair and a slew of tattoos. Hey guess what YOU ARE NOT THE DMV. YOU ARENT DOING ME A FAVOR. SO PLEASE CHECK YOUR BULLSHT ATTITUDE. I req'd Dec forms for my new car and after waiting 10 minutes she brings up the wrong forms!! I finally had to wait for the branch manager , explained what I needed and he said they would be available first thing the next day. Fine. Lo and behold today comes around and they are not ready. Was told that their " systems are down ". LOL . Figures. You guys are a joke. Please take some pointers from your south county counterparts and learn how to act & operate. read more

Horrible customer service. I had signed up for renter's insurance because my apartment complex requires it. I live within my means and don't own anything super expensive. Speaking with their staff, I told them I wanted the minimum coverage. She told me it would cost me at least $160. I found that kind of fishy because my friend only pays $80 with Geico for their lowest premium. I call up another AAA to get a quote and the agent tells me I can get it for $60! Seriously, shame on you for LYING to your customer's face. Good thing I saw through your B.S. Unfortunately, I had paid $160 at the time to get this B.S. renter's insurance over with. I've since switched to the $60 plan, but it's been almost 2 months now and I still haven't received my refund! AAA of OC = DISORGANIZED, POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. read more

I was interested in a vacation to Cancun and came very close to purchasing a trip through Costco travel until a friend told me to get a quote from AAA. Best a decision I ever made! Costco was going to charge me 4,400 for 5 nights in Cancun at a Four Star hotel with air fair. Sara Van De Mortel at AAA got us a five night stay at a Five Star Hotel in Cancun for 2,200 with air fair. Sara and the team has excellent customer service. We had an incident where one of our tours didn't have a reservation we paid for & they were able to handle it in no time even from the US. They refunded me for the excursions mistake. I'm going to book all my vacations through them. We were so happy with our trip! read more

I must acknowledge the effort and thorough job by Mr. Joseph Rhee that I experienced when I discovered my vehicle insurance was cancelled. The mix up was due to paperwork that was already on file, therefore my insurance should not have been cancelled. Fortunately, Mr. Joseph Rhee was persistent in ensuring that this mistake was corrected and my insurance was reinstated. I would also like to make special mention that on Sunday I received a follow-up call from Mr. Joseph Rhee which was completely surprising to me and very much appreciated. I must say after the cancellation I had my reservations in staying with AAA and going back to my former broker whom gave that small business attention. Mr. Joseph Rhee's leadership and ownership of my situation changed my mind in leaving. I look forward in doing business with Mr. Rhee for all future needs in my coverage, thank you Mr. Rhee. read more
