About a month ago, I dropped by this AAA location to pay my road service invoice. there was a short line and the first person to greet all of us was a delightful woman. She greeted everyone with common courtesy and basically asked each person the same thing. However, she made her interactions so personal. While I sat on the bench waiting for my turn, I watched her. This is for AAA Roadside assistance, since I can't find there main site on yelp, Newark takes the hit. Needed the roadside service today since my car would not start. Was told my membership had lapsed due to lack of payment. This was a surprise to me since I have a card in my hand that says valid thru Aug 28, 2019. Maybe we shouldn't send cards out until payment has cleared since the gonna be nazi like about it. Talked to 3 different people, all had a bad attitude blaming me for not paying my bill. Hello, auto renew exists for a reason! Wanted $75 expedite fee to activate my membership today. Glad I was only stranded in my driveway and not on the side of the road. - AAA member since 1989 - 3 insured cars (up to 4 concurrently with no accidents/tickets in 20+ years) - 1 insured home (20 years) I got my car back! Believe it or not, just hours after posting my review I received a call from the police. They had recovered my stolen car. Aside from some very minor damage inside, loss of personal items and being completely dirty inside/out, the car was left in relatively good condition. I've cleaned it up and now everyone can see exactly what AAA refused to acknowledge (please see photos). This is what AAA firmly insisted was worth less than $3k with a condition of "Unknown". A few other points: - Regarding AAA's July 7 response below. I followed-up that same day, July 7, and it took AAA two and half weeks to reply, on July 25. - On July 18, I submitted photos of my car to AAA, requesting they be added to my record. I never received a response to that request and had to repeat it during my call with AAA on July 25. - Upon notifying AAA that my car had been recovered I inquired about the $250 check I received for loss of personal property. I was told they would need to confirm. After a very brief time AAA called back. They voided the check. It should be noted AAA voiding my check was the quickest response I had received from them during this entire experience. Now, on July 25 and only as a response to this review I'm being told that voided check was in error. Again, it's this continued poor service that now has me seeking alternative providers for my home and auto insurance needs. read more

For the most part, their DMV employees are pleasant and great to interact with. I get one in particular, every once in a while, that doesn't seem to really want to be at work, but that doesn't stop me from leaving a review about how cool it is to be able to do DMV transactions the same day I need to!!!!!!! There are those customers that have gotten cranky, making it feel like a DMV office, but are you gonna do? I've had such a headache with AAA and they lagged on my claim for over a month and now I have to pay out of pocket for a rental when my adjuster just refused to help me and do his job. Got a flat tire on the freeway. Got off in Fremont on the Mowry exit. Spoke to an agent at 11:00pm that made me feel comfortable; she told me help would come anywhere from the moment we spoke to an hour. 45 minutes later I get a text saying they just got my request and a driver would come shortly. After waiting an hour and 30 minutes I called my boyfriend to change my tire. He came all the way from San Leandro to Fremont and changed my tire and AAA was nowhere to be found. Moral of the story I was very upset because I don't understand why I Pay extra for roadside assistance and no one shows up or calls with updates, even more so because I was alone at midnight at a random gas station. I'm very upset with this situation. read more

Got rear ended on the 4th of July. Major bummer. I know I'm a grown woman but I really didn't know what the process was having never been in an accident before. I contacted Erick, he explained everything thoroughly, and had me in contact with claims right away. He even checked up on me and my car's progress in a couple of days just to make sure everything was handled smoothly. In this day and age, amazing service from someone who actually cares? This review is for the Triple A office that processes DMV registrations and car insurance policies. At Triple A you don't have to wait in a long line or set-up an appointment for car registrations or stuff like that. That is a huge plus when you only have so much time ie. lunchtime. But you have to be a Triple AAA member approx $90.00 a year. I had to replace a lost registration and when I did the paper work I had crossed out some information. The associate at the counter had said that this is not permissible, I thought really this document is not scanned and plus it is a signed document. Not too happy so I filled out the form in sloppy printing. Also they do not accept debit or credit cards. Bring a load of cash or bring a check otherwise you will have to run to the ATM like I had to. The associates are friendly but just a heads-up. read more

I have had my customer membership with AAA since 2008. I have the plus-member membership (which cost $95/year BTW). I really like the service where I can get discounts on certain travel package along with their perks of roadside assistance, towing, and their service where I can renew my DMV registration directly through AAA. This year (2012), my current registration is due for renewal, and I was glad that I have my AAA account. Little did I know of the changes that was recently implemented. there is a service charge of $4 for any DMV transactions. WTH. I pay my premium of $95/year and for the most part, I rarely use it (I mainly use for discounts at stores, also keeping it available just in case my own car insurance services is not readily available). Definitely have to think about NOT renewing my membership anymore. Every dollar, especially nowadays is very important. I pay my premium membership and then now, they even add more on top of it. This is in response to Jim D. who reviewed in May 2013: Hi Jim! I used to work at AAA in the DMV department when I lived in California. I'm really glad we were able to help you with your registration! The classic AAA membership in Northern California currently starts at $57.00 (as of 7/2014) with the plus and premier memberships offering more benefits at a higher price. All memberships come with the DMV service included. As for the form and the cash/personal check policy - these guidelines are set forth by the CA DMV and are not AAA guidelines. You can use your credit or debit card for other AAA services like paying your insurance, buying tickets and maps, etc. CA DMV does not accept forms with erasures on it, and had we accepted the form with information crossed out, it would have been rejected by the DMV office and we would have had to contact you about coming in to re-do it. I'm sure the AAA employee had your best interest in mind when advising you to re-do the form without crossing anything out. While I don't represent AAA anymore as an employee, I felt like it would be useful to clarify some of what you experienced last time you visited the office when I was an employee. This is a hidden gem!! I'm so glad I found this DMV inside the AAA Newark branch. I'm surprised that I get to use their DMV service even though I'm not a AAA member. I paid to renew my registration in August but never received my registration card and sticker, so I decided to drop by the DMV Helpdesk today. I was able to fill out the form and got my sticker and registration card in less than 5 mins! This is truly amazing, considering how efficient the regular DMVs usually are. I also got my sticker and registration card for free because it hasn't been 90 days since I paid for my reg renewal. Good to know! No DMV's has ever told me this. Thank you AAA Newark! I'm definitely coming back here for all my DMV needs as long as you offer the services. read more

I love AAA. I always manage to lock my keys in my car a couple times a year, or get a flat tire on the freeway, in the rain. My insurance agent, Erick Crawford, helped me save a ton of money on my auto insurance, when progressive tried to raise my rates. I also appreciated that the policy lasted a year, since I got a couple speeding tickets during that year, oops. He was patient in explaining the different deductible options and rates. He emailed me a quote within 15 minutes of my call, I was stressed out because my progressive policy ended the next day, he got my card processed within an hour. He also gave me several $20 gift cards (options include Amazon and Starbucks) when I referred a couple friends to him. In addition to insurance and roadside assistance, there's a ton of things you can get in the office, such as vending machines with travel books you can get free by scanning your card. Other bonuses include free credit monitoring with membership, discount movie tickets, fast service for renewing your auto registration (no DMV lines, yay). Friendly enough, but their hours are so inconvenient that I can never go in when they're open. Isn't Saturday (and Sunday) when people usually travel? Why are they closed then? I have been a AAA customer since 2002 . 10 years now and I am very sorry to say i will most likely not be renewing this year :(( It was never disclosed to me when I renewed last year and I never received any notice what so ever it was not until i went to go pay my auto registration that i found out they charge $4.00 per transaction for any DMV transaction . So if you had 2 transactions that would be $8.00 WOW !!! Thats just WRONG ! When you could make appt and / or go to DMV and get all done for FREE ! I believe that is wrong for several reasons two of which I highlighted below 1) I believe in my heart that is taking advantage of our Goverments current financial situation . ( DMV closed on Saturday's , Limited hours ,cut back DMV employees hours and laying off some ECT ) 2) Unemployeement rate is at an all time high and many are out of work and have been for years some have even dropped out of the system because they have been out of work so long . 3) Money is just tight and AAA should know that BUT have no heart and just out to make a buck and take advantage of others hard times which I think is just Wrong ! 4 CORPORATE GREED OF which I am against and this is a great example of Corporate Greed and how AAA is taking advantage of others . whether it's our Government , customers out of work , or others are having financial difficulties or what ever the case AAA Is making a profile on a free item and no longer offer that with there AAA Plan . This my posting on Face Book If you are a AAA member please join me and maybe if enough members voice their opion AAA will decide to once again honor there commentment to providing DMV free service .It will not help me but may help others . Not really a friendly place, no hi even when they make eye contact with you. They do get friendly once it's your turn, in front of them at the counter. I walked in, nobody waiting in line, had to wait a few minutes for the 3 ladies being the counter to finish up their conversation. Not saying they should drop everything and help, but they should at least acknowledge the customers; if it was an important work conversation, say excuse for a few minutes. There's a typical 'you need me more than I you' attitude, understandably because they are the only game in town (DMV is better but still slow). But that is not a good customer service. Think USPS... from owning the shipping game, they are super nice now, but it's too late. read more

Being the first time visiting an office on my own and not knowing where to go I was kindly greeted as soon as I walked in. I went straight to the auto services department and there I was helped by a friendly and warm face. She was able to look up my car registration quickly with my last 4-5 digits of the vin and my license plate number. What made it so much better than the dmv is the customer service and the fact that I was in and out of there in less than 5 minutes! I would definitely go back and I already told my husband to go renew his registration as well. read more
