Driving through Bishop and needed a place to cool off in the 90 degree heat. We walked in right when they opened at 11 AM. The service was good and friendly. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. I ordered the Texas Hamburger with BBQ sauce and onion rings. Best onion rings I have had in a long time. Hamburger was good. They had great iced tea too. My wife had ordered a Reuben sand which which tasted good but the bread fell apart into a soggy mess. Great place to stop for lunch. read more

Stayed in Bishop while we were offroading for the weekend, so we had the chance to finally try this place out. Dine in was available at the time we went but it was pretty busy on a Saturday night. We were so relieved we ordered ahead for to go, online, directly from their website. Easiest and fastest. There was a huge line just to order when we got there to pick up. Stopped by on a Sunday at 2ish. Line was out the door (maybe 8-10 orders ahead of us) but we decided to wait. We didn't realize how long it would take for each person to order. After 15ish minutes they took 2-3 orders. I looked at the website and ordered online. I kept an eye on our place in line and it was another 25-30 minutes until we would have ordered. Online order was later than it said but I understood they were busy so we didn't really care about that. Got our online order and asked for 4 water cups but the angry server refused saying they didn't give water with online orders. We spent $80+ for 4 burgers/fries and 18% tip and you won't even give us water to eat our food with? Food is really good but doesn't taste as good with nothing to drink and definitely doesn't make up for the awful service. read more

Loved coming through here on the ride from Mammoth. The food was great and the service was really fast, which was impressive since I came with a group of about 20 people. My side of the table split sweet potato fries, the fried cheese curds, the teriyaki burger, the Inyo mouth burger and the hotshot burger. The teriyaki shot burger splashed all over my face with every bite. And i mean that in a good way. All of the burgers were stuffed to the brim and served on delicious rolls. We also got giant root beer floats which are served in flagons. This is the place, that's kind of like the way Sizzler used to be, where you line up at the register, order and pay, then they bring it to your table. You fill your own drinks oh, and you get your own refills. It's also kind of like a big ole Sports Bar with lots of TVs and plenty of beer on tap. So you're looking for a burger and a beer and the game this could be the place you want to go, many other people seem to like that a lot. Renovated Sizzler. I miss Sizzler. This space has sat empty for years and maybe should have stayed empty. I was really thinking it would be a nice steakhouse feel but it really feels like bbq truck trying to be a restaurant. You order in line and get a number to put on your table. There are no servers to take an order. When I walked in to join my party who was already sitting the girl at the order station shouted that I needed to get in line to order. I went to the table to review the menu that was laminated and falling apart. The family decided to go with the chicken. When it arrived it was identical to El Polo Local but bad. The chicken was rubbery and very dry. They serve it with tortillas cut into triangles. Why cut them into unusable sizes? Leave that to me focus on the meat. We got the rice and corn salad. The corn salad was corn poured from a can with cilantro chopped in it. The rice had to be cooked in an insta pot it was more like couscous. Self serve soda fountain and sweet tea!! When we were half way done the bus lady came by with her bus box wanting to load up our dirty dishes while she held the box. Very odd time to ask me to help clear my table and the style...there was none. If you are into atmosphere for dining this place lacked atmosphere. I felt more like someone really looked too much on Pinterest for ideas. I'm not sure what we were trying for and I'm sure the TI would be huge to convert an old Sizzler into a smoke house. We happened to be there on a Friday when the music man came to entertain. Not a fan of harmonica and electric guitar but that's just me. So all and all maybe I should have spent money on a streak and set my mind to harmonica re model Sizzler smoke house. Oh well read more

Went on a road trip from San Diego to Owen's River to do some fishing. We usually stop at the same Mexican place every time we're in the area so this time we wanted to try something new. Man was that the best decision. This place is great. The food is absolutely delicious. I had the half rack of ribs with a basket of garlic fries and oh my were they incredible. I must say the reviews on the burgers they serve are spot on delicious. However I will not rave on the Reuben sandwich. The rye bread is very soft so when they throw it down in grease on the grill it becomes a greasy soggy mess. Not enough sauerkraut so no flavor from that. If it were dry grilled so it actually toasted the bread maybe it would be better. Stick to the burgers. read more

So the Roadhouse was chosen. Outdoor COVID seating was decent, as there were misters (?) to help keep us cool. It was crowded, though, so we ordered to go. I ordered a 1/2 Turkey Gobbler sandwich. Actual real sliced turkey, roasted perfectly, , and the cranberry mayo was a unique and welcome touch The shepherds bread was delightful! Soft as a cloud in the middle with a nice crust. The serving was huge- thank goodness I didn't get the big one. Onion rings (from scratch) were excellent and charmingly irregular. My husband loved his burger. The bun appeared homemade. The fries, though lightly battered, were surprisingly quite good. (You can tell we do not usually approve of batter!) I really enjoyed the potato salad with its touch of bacon. My friends and I ended up eating here twice during our fishing trip. Service was really good and the atmosphere was also fine. The food was hit or miss with my chef salad being the worst I have every had both in taste and presentation. The chocolate shake was also dismal and would not recommend. Now my two friends both said I should not have ordered a salad at a BBQ place but I was trying to eat healthy at least one day while we were up there for the week. The second time we ate here I ordered the Backyard BBQ pork sandwich which was good, not great but good for bishop. My friends always ordered the burgers and raved about them. Wonderful chef salad with shredded turkey . The hamburgers were very juicy, if on the smaller side . The reason for 4 stars would be the no lettuce wrap available. However they may be able to put your burger in a bed of lettuce. Avoid the Chardonnay, the others are good . We have eaten here a few times on our overnight stays in town. They have live music, but with Covid ( or it being a Monday night) there was not any this trip. They close at 8 pm . read more

So I took away one star because within 60 seconds of paying and sitting down I decided to have onion rings instead of the fries with my burger, and the guy at the counter said it was too late to change. The rotisserie chicken is amazing. One of the best we've had. So juicy, tender and flavorful. The couscous salad is delicious as well. The ambience is nice as well as the service. My only complaint is the ribs. It looks like they were boiled, and they came out cold on the inside and had absolutely no seasoning on them. I understand there's bbq sauce on the side. But no seasoning? When we sent them back because they were cold they took them back to reheat. The waiter returned and said they went in "the steamer" for a bit longer. But who steams ribs? And they were still cold on the inside. I would've eaten them anyway if they were any good. But they weren't. Almost inedible. Overall though I'd return for the chicken. This is my go to place in Bishop for food. I come to the area a lot for working typically staying several days. The menu has lots of options for lighter fare if you're not feeling a meat heavy meal. When you are staying in Bishop the options are limited, especially during the winter season. This place just happened to be next to my hotel so I went in twice. The second time I went was only because the 3 other places I tried were closed. There food is good, and the beer selection was about what I expected, not bad, but not great. I think I judge places like this on if I will go back again and the answer is yes, when I am in Bishop again, I will go back. read more

One of my favorite places in town. The gobbler sandwich is a classic and long time family favorite! They do great burgers, fries and sandwiches. I don't stray much from that. My boyfriend has enjoyed the ribs and chicken but they are small portions. They always have wonderful friendly staff that's eager to help you and make you feel so welcome!
