It's hard to not rate this Abby's pretty highly, especially compared to the location in Keizer, OR. Typical Abby's pizza...thinish, almost cracker-like crust. Plenty of grease and toppings. They really do put a lot of pepperoni on our pizza, and whatever other toppings we get. The price seems to be getting higher and higher...for an XL pizza with two toppings, it costs about 34 bucks. One of the things I will say about this location; they keep my partner safe. She is Celiac and gets very sick from gluten contamination, but we've eaten here many times and she hasn't gotten sick yet, either from eat in, carry out, or delivery. One time I came here and they were closing down, because the heat at the time was around 105 degrees. They said the kitchen was too hot for staff. I actually see this as a good thing! Sure, it sucked that I didn't get pizza, but taking care of your people is more important than that. I'm glad the management/owner team made that decision and/or supported it. We've also walked in very close to closing time, thinking we had another hour left before close. The staff were all very friendly and told us to take our time and eat in, but we opted to take it home instead so we wouldn't be "those people." Still, they weren't in a rush to kick us out, or to tell us "the kitchen is closed." Meh. It's "okay" but a GREAT pizza is hard to find unless you set your bar low. We were staying at So. Beach RV Park just south of Newport, OR and started hankering for a delicious pizza on Monday. Ater Yelping and finding a place we wanted to order from (based on Yelpers!) and calling them, I found out they are closed Sunday and Monday. Bummer. We then called Abby's and ordered a 16" pepperoni, italian sausage, onion (we got "red" without specifying) and black olive on regular crust. We paid just a hair under $35 with tax and without a tip (hey! it's a takeout!). I asked how long until it was ready and he said about 20 minutes. I asked if they could delay the "cook" for 15-20 minutes so that I could stop at Walmart before picking it up because I wanted it piping hot when I picked it up. I am extra judgmental on my pizza reviews. First off, the sauce is non-existent; I mean almost "none". Yes, healthy portions of toppings and a nice, crispy crust are expected (and they had) but if you do not have a dynamite pizza sauce as your base to go with a decent crust, the rest is going to be hard to make up for that. My wife didn't like the cheese. She commented it was kind of 'creamy'. I agree but we had ordered takeout and had to reheat the pizza to crisp it up in the oven so I cannot take stars off for that. The pepperoni and sausage didn't have much flavor and I did in fact sample the ingredients separately. They must have cooked it immediately after the order was placed because when I picked it up 45 minutes later, it was cold. Pros: Nice crust Generous toppings The 16" was pretty darn big Sliced into many slivers of pizza (we liked that!) It finally showed up at 5:50. The driver was nice and made sure we had everything. When we opened the boxes the pizza toppings looked like they slid to one side, it wasn't hot, and the spuds were only seasoned on a little of the pieces. We were slightly disappointed as our regular pizza place is further away than abby's and it arrives piping hot. However... Everything was delicious! So, I have been coming to Abby's pizza since I was a kid, and I even worked at the Abby's in woodburn for like 4 years. So my family have been regular customers for a good 40 + years. But, not anymore!!!! I now live by the one in Keizer (literally like 30 seconds of a walk), and this last Sunday (July 16) my son went looking for me, per my boyfriends request, and well I was not there! He had decided he wanted to play video games since he was there. Then I got a phone call from one of the new employee's (Adrian); which is a great and awesome employee too, saying that the supervisor, or team leader, the short heavy set female with dark hair, was going to call the cops!?!?? I asked what for? And he had stated that I had abandoned my son there, which I did not since I was merely somewhere else from the beginning !! I then asked Adrian to tell him to go home! Remind you , I live literally 30 seconds of a walk from there , right behind the gas station by Abby's. And he went home. So yesterday (Friday the 21st) I showed up by myself to play a little poker and she comes in there, after I just got there and sat down, and started to go at me, chewing me out saying I have the right to 86 you and that I abandoned my kid ; which I said I had not because I was not there to begin with!!! So she was still yelling at me making me feel like a dumb shit!!! And embarrassing the heck out of me since there were like two other individuals playing video poker already!! She made a huge scene and embarrassed the hell out of me! Now if there was something she wanted to say to me she could have just pulled me out to the side or asked me to go over to the other side where there is no one around ! I don't know whether she got off on her power trip, but I hope the heck it was well worth it! Because this long time customer is never coming back to this establishment, nor is my whole family ( which there are a whole bunch of us)!!!! And also she had made a rude comment out loud! We have been there several times. We don't understand why we get our pizzas and 15 min later we have to go up and ask about our salads. We are almost done with the pizza and those who ordered salads are still waiting to eat. We always have to go up and ask and then they say they are coming up soon. Salads are good, pizza is good. Let me start with the pizza crust. It's as if someone took a giant saltine cracker, sprinkled it with water, but it in the freezer, thawed it out then threw on some pizza toppings. Just really awful. The staff was friendly and even pointed out a special to us. The "giant" pizza normally 30 bucks was on sale for 20. Still not worth it. But nice that they were looking out for us. I grew up with this exact kind of pizza sold through various parlors. It was considered perfectly acceptable in the 70's. Then we grew up and started appreciating fresh food. We've been spoiled by pizza made with quality ingredients and delicious fresh crust available at tons of places now. Abby's is a stubborn throwback to the dark ages of American pizza. This is just a personal preference and nothing to do with the dining area. Give Abby's a try if you haven't . My brother and his family came from Utah to stay at the beach. They wanted to meet up somewhere to visit and have dinner. Any time their in Oregon they like to go to Abby's pizza. I suggested the one in Dallas. It seemed to be more central for everyone involved. Anyhow, it was a lot of fun. The pizza was great. I love the thin crust. The bread sticks were really good too. Now, I'm no newbie at pizza. So when I go to a place with a name like, "Abby's Legendary Pizza," I'm expecting something... Well, Legendary. Now, not to purposely bring down your expectations, but Abby's wasn't Legendary, as it's named implied. However, it wasn't bad. In fact, it was good. But good only goes so far, thus the four star rating. I came late night, about an hour before close. Every thing was clean, well kept, friendly environment. Appearance was good. My girlfriend and I ordered, sat down, and waited for our food. Smartly, Abby's but some trivial facts and questions on these little pamphlets on the table, so were occupied during the... Ohhhh... 15-17 minutes it took for our pizza to come out. A little on the long side, as I used to be able to make a pizza in about 10-13, but whatevs, right? We got our pizza. The meal was good, as I said. Pepperoni was a tiny bit under cooked, but still good. Now, there are certain styles of making a pizza (i.e. thick crust, thin crust, etc.) Abby's style is to use a very small layer of dough. The end result is a very indistinguishable crust. I guess if you like thin crust, you could appreciate it, but I like my crust to pop up like a stripper coming out of a birthday cake. Just my preference however. For the price, they sure could use some better ingredients. Well, I guess if they lowered the price for the pizza, I could bump this to a high four, but as it is, it remains a low four. Very good environment, very nice people, mediocre pizza. Good, but room to improve. Try Abby's if you're hungry and close, don't make the extra effort to travel there. read more

We had dinner at Abby's Pizza this evening. The staff was very pleasant and attentive. Their salad bar was fresh and well stocked - a definite 5 star rating! We had the Abby's Special pizza which is a combination of pepperoni, sausage, beef, olives and mushrooms. Everyone in my group agreed it tasted great, and they weren't skimpy with the toppings, so again, a 5 star rating! We even played their claw machine and won a couple stuffed animals while we waited for our pizza to be served. It wasn't a lengthy wait at all.
