I feel like this is one of the best Mexican food places I've been to in Omaha but that's not saying much... Plus it's fast food Mexican food. And every time I go it's kind of hit and miss. We have actually been coming here since it was "Alvorado's". Abelardo's bought them out a few years back, and the food and service are just as good. Many Mexican restaurants are either very authentic or very Americanized in their recipes. It is truly brilliant that Abelardo's effectively mixes the the two flavors and cuisine cultures into each menu selection- at least the ones that we have tried. The chicken quesadillas are our personal favorites here...they are loaded with cheese, as big as your head, and they weigh at least a pound each. We have also had the huevos rancheros the beans, the rice, and bean burritos. All are very good. Only four stars, because they do not clean/devain their shrimp- I know in some parts of Mexico that is standard, but that's a deal breaker when it comes to shrimp dishes for me. read more

I found this place while in town by searching Yelp, and was not disappointed. I liked the mixed fajita platter and also enjoyed a Make Your Own salsa bar. Fast and friendly service was a big plus. When your drunk, starving, or gambling on making your toilet your new best friend for a good day and a half, I highly recommend this place. The food is A1. Awesome. The authentic taste, the scare of possible food poisoning(never have had happen to me), and the ambiance is what makes this place wonderful. The food is great here! Authentic, fresh, and fast. I have never been disappointed, and have eaten there with my family over a dozen times. The only reason I cannot give it a 5 stars is that it is sometimes not the cleanest place I have ever seen. Not dirty, but not clean. The bathroom is outside, and pretty gross. The owner brings her kids in and allows them to run all over the restaurant. They stand up on tables, than I can guarantee you will not be cleaned before someone sits there to eat. While we were disappointed with the food at Romeo's (based on the current 4 star rating) overall the experience was ok/mediocre. The restaurant is clean and the workers were friendly. Their free chips were good and did come with free salsa (I saw a review where they commented on paying for salsa but that wasn't our experience). The fish tacos however were not very good. The fish didn't taste like any fish I've ever had and the consistency was almost tough, not flaky at all. The beans were quite salty and the rice didn't taste fresh. The chicken enchiladas were ok, not bad but not great. While it was ok for a quick meal, if you're looking for good Mexican food in a similar setting, there is a restaurant with a very similar menu that offers much better food just down the road. read more

Worst Experience ever! $1200 FOR TWO BURRITOS!!!! ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?!?!? Ordered two burritos, they gave me something entirely different. The guy at the drive-thru kept insisting this is what I ordered and had an attitude. Wasn't willing to change the order so I asked for a refund. He ran my card but said it has issues to he gave me 12 dollars in cash which was the amount of the transaction. 10 days later when I checked my bank statement, it had a $1200 charge. I went back there to ask what had happened. It was the same guy that had taken my order originally. He said, we had "accidentally" refunded 1200 so we charged you 1200. I kept explaining to him that I only see a charge and not a refund. I showed him my bank statement also. He wasn't willing to listen and called the cops. Yes, you heard it right. He called the cops cause apparently I was harassing him...lol. (It is funny cause he was twice my size and taller then me and had all these tattoos ,which were suppose make him look tough). Anyways, the cops came and asked me to talk to the bank or get a lawyer. I have a claim filed with my bank and they said they could get my money back. Fingers crossed!!
