I had high hopes but they let me down. First, I called to place a takeout order and was on hold for quite a while (I think they forgot about me). I hung up and called back and was able to place our order. I ordered a chicken gyro with extra sauce. I got a lamb gyro with no extra sauce. My husband asked for tartar sauce but didn't get any. This is a newly open, extremely loud diner. The food is prepared from frozen for the most part and is as to be expected if such a venue. The waitstaff appear to be wearing their own personal clothing making them indistinguishable from paying guests. Table condiments from sweeteners to an empty ketchup bottle need attention. Evidence of the former sports bar should be replaced. Overall the flys were more interested in my meal than I was. read more

Abis is always a pretty good place to go. The food is always pretty good and the service is usually great. However I had a horrible experience there this morning. I was seated and nobody came to my table for 20min. People were being seated and getting served their food before I even seen my waitress. I should have left at this time but I gave them the benefit of the doubt because usually it's so good. When she finally came to me (only cause another customer said something lol) she took my drink and food order also apologized for taking so long to get to me assuring me it would be out quickly. It took forever to get my food and when it came it was cold. My daughter and I politely got up to leave I never even said anything about it being cold and my waitress asked did I want her to take it back and warm it up? That tells me she knew it was cold when she served it SMH... anyway to make a long story short they still made me pay 15 dollars. I don't make scenes so I just paid and left. Ended up going to crap Donald's where at least the food was hot! Will not be going back to Abis ever. One other time I was there there was black ants all over the place but they did take care of that problem. read more

Service was really good and attentive. Covid procedures are followed with everyone wearing a mask and the place was clean. This food isn't anything special but it is good. If I don't have any issues I give 5 stars to small businesses and I had zero issues in here. You get really good portions, the food is good and reasonably priced. Good food/bad service. Came here for lunch, was given a menu, later saw others with a specials sheet, it was not given to us or mentioned. Server took order, came back 10 minutes later and said "oh, I forgot your salad". Brought it out, 3 minutes later, brought out our burgers. Hubby asked for mustard, she never brought it back to him but she had time to sit with another customer. Food was really good, huge burger, fresh toppings, bun was a tad big (very large Kaiser roll). When I went to the counter to pay, I told her we were not going to tip her because of the reasons above. She seemed surprised, but I am not going to tip for bad/no service. This place is popular with locals, we are local, first time here. Perhaps she thought we were tourists (many in this area). Not sure we would come back, many other diners in the area have the same food (and almost the same huge menu) with much better service. read more

If I could leave a negative review I would. My great aunt used to go here all the time and loved the place. So when our family visited Ocean City for a memorial for not only my great aunt Ginny (she passed 2/20) but my mother as well (she passed 11/20), so of course we had to go to aunt Ginny's favorite restaurant. We had the waitress from hell. Our mom was a server for about 40+ years, I've been a server, as well as my sister and niece, so we know how things are supposed to be done. When I say this was the WORSE server we've ever had,that's putting it nicely. She totally ignored my little sister (who's 40 and was a server), ignored myself, and was extremely rude to my other aunt. She picked up my cousin's plate to clear it as she was eating her food still. Then the server told us she could tell we weren't from around there. She was pretty much yelling this so the whole restaurant could hear. She then told us to leave and not come back. At first we tolerated her abuse as they were busy and short staffed, but at the same time that's not our problem/fault. We asked for strawberry jelly and our waitress replied "if it's not on the table they obviously were out." Asked another serve for some and was brought a handful of packets and told that there was a bunch in the back. We asked for ketchup and a refill on drinks and were ignored. I could never imagine speaking to a customer the way this serve spoke to us. I went to speak to the acting manager, who was very nice/sweet, but all she could do was report her to the owner. Honestly I would've fired my employees on the spot no matter how short staffed we were if my employees acted this way. read more

Well DH and I returned for another breakfast at this restaurant. Service was prompt and our meals came out quickly. More crowded then our previous visit. DH ordered three pancakes (crash mats) with a side of sausage and I ordered the country benedict. The country Benedict is poached eggs on an English muffin with sausage and country gravy. Well the mats while they tasted good were over cooked on one side so DH had to cut them with a knife. As he states mats should not need a knife. They did come with plenty of real butter which is a good thing. My meal was good just not as hot temperature wise as I like. Something was cold, either the muffin, eggs or the gravy. It came with plenty of home fries. We will return to this establishment to try other items from their menu. read more

I went here with my family, there were 8 of us. We went here as it was my Great Aunt Ginny's favorite place to eat and I was there a few times with her. She passed in 3/2020 and we were in town for a memorial for her. The food was amazing, but the service was the worst I've had in my entire life, and I'm 61 years old. The waitress was rude from the get go. When we asked for anything she made a grunting sound. We asked for strawberry jelly, and she said if it's not on the table we don't have it. Another waitress was kind enough to bring us about 6 strawberry jellies. Our rude waitress kept saying she had 3 tables and was busy. Which we understand, but you don't have to be rude. She tried to take my cousin's food while she was still eating and got rude when my cousin said 'I'm sorry I'm not done'. She brings the bill out and when we said we wanted desserts she grunted like she was pissed and said she was busy and it would be awhile. We wanted them to go so we said 'no problem we will wait' as some were still eating. It got really ugly when she told us she knew we weren't from around there and we were the worst customers she had ever had and she wanted us to leave. My mom was a waitress for 25+ years and taught us to tip good and say thank you and please , which we did. The bill was over 140.00 and though in the beginning we thought the person who waited on us is about to get a big tip like 30% or more. We left her nothing. She had 2 of us crying and one so pissed off she left. I usually visit once a year and I have family there who owns a business. It's unfortunate that one bad apple can ruin it for you. We won't be back nor will our ocean city family. It was an horrible experience. I will say the acting manager was nice and food good. Just won't go anywhere that makes you feel like you are the scum of the earth while we are spending our hard earned money. read more

Food was perfectly prepared versions of your dinner classics, and the portions are far too large for one sitting. I recommend splitting a dish if you don't want leftovers. I have been here twice, came the second time because the food was fresh, good and well prepared. I had the stuffed flounder the first time, and broiled seafood platter the second....DELISH! My son had the chicken fingers which he enjoyed, comes with enough chicken and fries to last the week. The atmosphere/decor is rather dull feeling more like a public school cafeteria and I hate swatting at flies when I am eating but I have found this to be a common theme on the shore. We've been looking around for a breakfast spot in Berlin or West OC for some time now, and by luck passed by Abi's after launching our kayak and looked up the menu the next weekend, and thank God, what a Great find! I had the Florentine omelet and my wife had the Veggie omelet, and there was so much feta cheese and fresh spinach in my omelet and my wife couldn't finish her veggie omelet and she's a big eater even tho she's only 103 lbs! Many times she finishes what I left on my plate. ;-) Well, we have a condo in the center of OCMD but whenever we go to the outlets, Bed Bath & Beyond, etc., or kayaking in West OC or Berlin, we will definitely hit Abi's Diner before we start our daily excursion. There is a large selection of American style food on the menu at Abi so I would definitely come back, but my crab cake melt was just okay. I could tell the crab cake has a lot of filler and there was too much cheese on my sandwich as well. My grandmother got a Rueben melt and while there was a good amount of meat on the sandwich she felt there was too much cheese too. We were vacationing in nearby Ocean City, drove past this place and decided to stop for a late breakfast. The place had a few booths with older patrons enjoying their breakfast. We had to wait a bit to be seated, although they weren't busy at the moment. The hostess seated us finally and after 15 minutes of waiting we called her back to the table. We asked why people who had come in after us had already been waited on and were being served and drinking their coffee. She had a quick talk with the waitress, whom apparently didn't want to wait on my man who is black. He was in fact the only person of color in the diner. The hostess was extremely apologetic and uncomfortable. The waitress, however, was not going to wait on us. We left. I was shocked by the lack of basic human decency. Who cares about the quality of the food when a place has at least one employee who apparently feels secure enough in her job to blatantly reveal her racism. I wish I could give this place 0 stars. My family went here the first time about a year ago and had the worst service ever. The waitress had no idea what she was doing and forgot about our table consistently leading to us spending nearly three hours there. I have had a decent breakfast here several times, so we tried dinner tonight. Shrimp salad was supposed to be made to order. I asked for little to no mayo, since you need a little to hold it together on plain rye bread. It took almost a half hour to be served, the bread was stale and hard and there was a thick layer of mayo with some shrimp hidden in it. Honestly I would say less than a 1/4 cup on the two halves. When the waitress came by to check on us I showed her the stale bread and she took it saying I am going to throw it at the owner this is terrible. She asked if I wanted some other bread but I did not want a bread sandwich, I wanted a shrimp salad sandwich so I declined. When she brought the bill she was apologetic, but charged me full price for the sandwich. I was very disappointed. I have brought ten different people here to eat (breakfast) and now I am down on this place. The owner needs to learn how to address their poor quality food. Server was nice and friendly. read more

We have an active toddler and 2 out of 3 high chairs had broken straps, so that is something I'd like to see fixed. The food was alright, nothing remarkable but not bad either. We have eaten here many times. I think that the prices are great for what you get. The lunch and dinner menu has a very wide selection. The portions are larger than many places I go to for breakfast and the food tastes really good. I like their French toast platter with meat and eggs.
