So, I am joining yelp just so I can write a review on ABM auto, because they are just that good. I moved to Chicago in November 2010 and immediately had car issues. I was new to the city and most of my friends who live here did not own cars at all, so finding a mechanic was a challenge. So I went online and searched for mechanics in my neighborhood, when I came across ABM on Yelp and saw they had such great reviews. I gave them a call and found out that they had JUST recently moved out of my neighborhood :( but I thought, what the heck they sound so good, I will drive the 20 min there (and 45 min public transit commute home, boo). Adeel and his team have done nothing but take care of me from the get-go. Now that I have lived in the city 8 months, Adeel has taken care of my car about 4/f times (its old and needs work often-its 2000 Pontiac Sunfire). Adeel is always so nice, listens to whatever your problem is very patiently (even if you're not good at car-speak), and fixes the problem promptly. Thus far ABM has fixed wiring problems with my headlights, replaced my brakes, replaced my exhaust, fixed a overheating problem, fixed a tire with a nail and numerous odds and ends. He has found other problems that I've missed that has definitely saved me money and time for the future. He is never pushy about how you should fix your car and presents the options clearly. Something else I really appreciate about Adeel is that he always explains things so that I can understand them without telling me too much info or making me feel dumb. He has fair prices and I have NEVER felt over charged for something-in fact the last time I took in my car, I needed the exhaust replaced and numerous other little tweaks and Adeel was so kind and only charged me for the exhaust parts/labor. I don't say this to encourage people to take advantage of him-but to let you know he already runs his business fairly and honestly. The last thing I will say (and then I will stop rambling) is that ABM is always quick on their service too. I've never had to wait more than a day, day and a half at most, for even the biggest repairs they've done on my car. I would recommend their service to anyone and feel lucky to have found a trustworthy mechanic. ABM is still worth a 45min train/bus combo ride home when I have to drop my car off to them. read more

If you want to be yelled at and treated like dirt, then yes absolutely go to Adeel! This guy misdiagnosed a major problem with my vehicle and then wanted to charge me a few hundred in labor after almost begging me on the phone to bring it back after reading my negative Yelp review. He first insisted that the previous repair they did just had a faulty part but I insisted that wasn't the issue, told them what it was and sure enough, I was right (I found the answer on Google after 5 minutes and this dude who is paid to work on cars didn't catch it until I stated the problem, really?). I felt that to be charged all that labor was majorly unfair since I had previously dropped $400 on an unnecessary repair and because I had to tell him what was wrong for him to even consider it. Apparently this dude's fragile ego was hurt at this point and he started going on about how he believes in God and karma (ps: karma is a buddhist ideal, so which one is it?). There was a line in there somewhere about how cars are just machines, we're all machines, and "these things happen" (???). In the end he told me he didn't want to work on my car anymore (he acted like this was a big deal, like I'm missing out on this guy's work wow big deal good riddance can't wait to not get ripped off anymore...narcissists am I right?). HE then kept accusing ME of trying to rip him off (still not sure how?) and dramatically took $300 cash out of his wallet and slammed it on the desk like he was starring in his own telenovela saying "here's your refund". He probably felt really cool though I never asked for a refund, but I told him that dramatic $300 was $100 short so we stood there while he wrote us a check. He had me sign a paper that said I was refunded out of "good will" which we had a hearty laugh about later...what a savior! It's not like he spent the previous 15 minutes accusing me of being a scam artist just because I want problems on my car to be fixed the first time. How he feels it is appropriate to yell at his paying customers is beyond me. After doing some research I see that many of his 5 star reviews are from friends and family. Beware of this guy, he's a ticking time bomb whose fragile masculinity cannot handle any sort of criticism. read more

I brought in my Lexus RX300 to have 2 knock sensors and mass air flow sensor replaced. The cost of the repair was comparable to auto repair shops in the area and way much lower than the dealer. However, when I picked up the car the check engine light came back on after driving few blocks. I brought it back and he found that one VVT-I solenoid is bad. He proceeded to order the part and he told me that the parts will be delivered in 45 minutes. So I decided to wait in his wifi-enabled waiting area. After repair was made I asked how much do I owe him. He said that he will not charge me for parts or labor because of the inconvenience he caused of not fixing it the first time. On top of that he also tightened a squeling serpentine belt (I know about this problem but did not tell him). Parts and labor for the extra work would be at least $150.00. Okay there is more to the story. After a day, the check engine light came on again. So I called him and I said same code (bad KS) came up. He told me to bring it back so he can fix what is wrong. He found out that the wiring harness has an intermittent open circuit which is not easily detected. He fixed it and again did not charge me extra. What a guy. Not only does he try to explain to you what he fixed (more than I want to know or understand) but also show the parts he replaced. I would give 6 stars. I highly recommend this auto repair shop and will definitely go back again and again and again. By the way his name is Adeel. read more

I went to Abm auto repair based on it's good review's here on yelp, after my suv developed a check engine light.I talked to Adeel,who is the owner,and he told me why the light might be on.After a half hour he was able to locate the problem.(Vacuum hose elbow),and it turned out to be a simple problem,and inexpensive fix.Other mechanic's were not sure what the problem was and said it would take awhile to figure it out.I've had Adeel do my ball joints,brakes,shocks,tuneup,and paint my bumper,and it was done quickly,and for a good price.He even threw in a power steering flush for free.Before he did the work he showed me the part's that needed to be replaced,and why.Adeel recently replaced all of the timing chains on my truck(Big job.),and did it for a price far better then any dealer could ever charge,and did it fast and professionally.His fair price on this repair is greatly appreciated.I like the work they do,and I know it's not easy work.My impression is that Adeel really wants the customer to be happy with the work,and will go out of his way to help you out,and give you a fair price.I highly recommend Abm Auto repair.You will get good price's,honest work,with a quick turnaround time.Thanks Adeel. read more

Ever since I moved to the city I have been looking for a good auto mechanic and can say that I have finally found one in ABM. When my slow antifreeze leak became a flowing river, I turned to yelp because my past few car repairs at other shops had been unsatisfactory. ABM had a complete understanding of my issue just from my description over the phone and told me to bring the car in asap. When I arrived, they explained that they were backed up with other repairs but would fit me in as my issue was minor and because I needed the car the next day. The completed the repair quickly and for less than I had been quoted elsewhere to my complete satisfaction. Two weeks later, my car ran low on antifreeze again so I took it back to ABM. They not only again fit me in immediately to take a look at the previous work but then when they found out it was a minor hose issue with a part cost of $10, they did the repair and didn't charge me a cent. In my opinion, that is a perfect example of exceptional customer service. I will most certainly be taking my car to ABM from now on and suggest you do the same. read more

I have been taking our car to ABM for a year now. The first time was about a year ago - our car was making a "noise" - thankfully I had found ABM on Yelp, and everything was as advertised. Adeel looked the car over, and said nothing was wrong, but gave me a list of things that might need to be replaced at some point, but were not hurting anything now. Similar to others' reviews, I've never had a mechanic give me a list of things that can "wait". Our most recent visit last week was incredible. We knew there was an issue with the muffler - Adeel quickly identified the issue, and said that he just needed to weld a part back on (a casualty of the most recent winter, I'm sure). He didn't try to sell me a new part or something we didn't need. Best part - he charged us $40. Yes, you read that correctly. $40. I didn't know that anything on a car could be fixed for less than $200. This guy is the real deal. He could have charged us $150-$200, and I wouldn't have thought twice about it, but he didn't. We will always bring our car here, as I trust that he will always be honest with us. read more

I've been going to ABM Auto for about 6 years and Adeall has always amazing me with his honesty and loyalty, which is very rare in the auto business. Well the other day I just put him and his ( Pit- Crew ) to the test once again! This time he really had me in an aura about working on my vehicle. Well it's a beastly beast. 2013 King Ranch 350 diesel. I wasn't sure but when I called him and he said it was ready, I just had to get over and see this. I love all my vehicles to the point people ask who I love more! Well , that's for another day and time... bottom line is that The Pit- Crew from the little old hood in Andersonville now resides in Albany Park comes out smelling like ... theses guy's are that good and then some. No I'm not getting paid for this or any kind of deals , but it's something that you should be aware of that if you want great service on a silver platter than I suggest that you make your next appointment with Adeall... After some trial and error trying to find a mechanic when we moved to Chicago, a friend tipped us off to ABM and we're certainly grateful: the owner, as many other reviewers have noted, is very dedicated to providing great service, explaining everything thoroughly and offering clear suggestions about what level of urgency our car's needs really had. On one occasion the work we needed ended up being a lot more expensive than he'd originally quoted, but he discounted everything to ensure that we paid only exactly the original quote, and without my even having to ask -- the work has all been really high quality and done very promptly. He even stayed open last Thanksgiving morning especially for a few of us who had cars to pick up -- he didn't want us to be without them for the long holiday weekend. ABM was recommended by my friend Matt C. I got a great deal on a 98 4Runner and I knew it needed some work to get it though my cross country trip in 2 months. I started with the timing belt, and the price was really really good, surprisingly good, so I asked about all the other work I needed. Adeel the owner is very nice, personable, professional, and explained everything to me perfectly. I got everything fixed for about 1/5 the price of the Chicago Toyota Dealer up on Broadway where I originally went for the diagnostics, and all in about day and a half. They even drove me to the train after I dropped off the car to them since I wasn't familiar with the area. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and TRUSTWORTHY. AN HONEST. COMPETENT AND REASONABLY PRICED MECHANIC!!! When the dashboard emissions warning light on my 2018 Honda Accord with only 20,000 miles went on, dealer charged over $200 just to "diagnose" the issue and then told me I needed 2 new sensors for $1,200. Brought the car to ABM on a neighbor's recommendation. A valve with sensor needed replacement, at a total cost of about $320. He explained that this was a fairly common issue and showed me the part he had removed and replaced. Dealer also told me I needed to replace my radiator coolant. AMB checked it and said it was fine, no need to replace at this time. Saved me over $1,100. What more can I say? read more

Simply put if you want an honest and candid mechanic, that does not waste your time or money Adeel at ABM is the man. He is a true master of his craft and he does business with integrity and fairness. He took care of the repairs to my Chrysler Sebring expertly and on budget and for nearly 40% cheaper than Firestone and some of the other chain stores. He went out of his way to educate me on what was wrong and what preventative maintenance things I could do that would save me time and money. well i had a electrical problem with my 2002 volkswagon jetta...the battery would die over night and as time went by it would die faster so i changed the battery myself and the alternator but it didnt make a difference...i took it to about 6 shops before but i finally took it to adeel or adil at ABM auto i dont know how to spell his name but he diagnosed my car and found out what other mechanics couldnt...the radio and the aftermarket alarm system was drawing power..i had the car in less than 24 hours! i recommend this shop but if you dont believe me check it out! read more

This is my new go to shop. Adeel took care of me when my Ford Focus needed a lot of wiring help. I called other shops before I decided on this one and he was the cheapest. The only shop I know that actually charges you the hourly rate they say. At the end Adeel didn't charge me for 30 mins of work and gave me a discount after mentioning Yelp. Brought my car in because all the tail lights went out and it didn't look like the bulbs were blown. The mechanic told me it was a minimum of $90 to diagnose it. I agreed figuring it was going to be an electrical problem. He called me back about 30 minutes later to tell me the bulbs were in fact blown and he was only going to charge me $15. Very honest guy!
