The reviews les me to believe I was going to find an amazing restaurant in Aboca's Italian Grill, but my personal experience was something very average. Our experience started out on the wrong foot and did not get a whole lot better from there. The very pleasant person who greeted us told us to sit anywhere we like and she would follow us with menus. So, when we started to sit at a particular table a waiter flew across the room and told us,"No, not there, over here!". I guess he did not want us sitting at that table for some particular reason, but it was awkward at best, and unwelcoming. I am not one to usually play along with such games but for some reason I did this time, maybe because I have learned not to piss off people who are making my food. We ordered and I got the Aboca's Chicken, figuring a namesake dish would be a great choice. It wasn't. The garlic overpowered the other elements of the dish to the point where I could only eat a little less than half of it. Don't get me wrong, I love garlic, but this was too much. It was like the level of garlic where they might have forgotten they already put garlic in it and put more in...maybe even twice. I came with a group of friends during the lunch hour. It was not very busy and the service was good. Ordered the chicken marsala. Probably some of the best I've ever eaten. Overall, it has very good flavor and the chicken had melt-in -your- mouth tenderness. We ordered Italian cream cake, tiramisu, and cannoli desserts to share. The Italian cream cake was wonderful. Tiramisu was good, but didn't like getting a big bite of mostly liqueur. Cannoli wasn't really cannoli. Just look like it. Friends said the coffee tasted freeze dried. SEVERE FOOD POISONING: On April 10, 2026, I had lunch at Aboca's, including lasagna, a side salad and bread. That evening, I experienced severe food poisoning, including continuous vomiting, horrible stomach cramps, diarrhea, headache, chills and fever, and several panic attacks. The episode lasted over nine hours. I called the restaurant the next day and spoke with a manager who called himself Joe. He assured me the owner would call immediately. Three days later? Still no call. No concern. No apology. So: Joe? Liar. Aboca's should not be allowed to still be in business, jeopardizing customer health and safety. If my friend J. had been there too, she would have ended up in the hospital. I also found numerous public reviews also accusing Aboca's of food poisoning. How is this dangerous place still allowed to operate? If you care about your life, do not eat at Aboca's. read more

When I think of Italian cuisine, I generally don't really think about this establishment screaming exquisite, authentic, or groundbreaking in the Dallas Italian scene. I'm sure it's fine as a suburbia place to go, but as a visitor this place would get lost in the shuffle among the other higher tier offerings. read more

2nd time here, we ordered the chicken aboca, lunch special lasagna with fettucine, meat lovers pizza, lunch special diablo chicken, and chicken picatta. The food itself was really good, especially the alfredo fettucine and the chicken aboca. The alfredo was creamy and cheesy and the pasta was cooked perfectly. The chicken aboca had a wonderful fragrant basil spinach cream sauce and the chicken was tender. The meat lovers pizza was okay and had a large portion size, but nothing particularly special. The chicken picatta was a little sour as supposed to be, and the chicken diablo lacked a little spice for our taste. All food other than the pizza came with salads which had great dressing, and they serve bread and olive oil while you are waiting which is really good. I docked a star because service was really slow even though we were the only customers. The owner or manager offered us free refills on our entrees as an apology which was very kind, although we were full. Overall a really great place for good Italian food with super reasonable prices and portions. read more

I stumbled on this restaurant looking for restaurants near my home. It was within walking distance so I took a stroll to the restaurant. This is a very charming restaurant very family oriented, and you can tell that it is frequented by the neighborhood. The staff was friendly and attentive without being invasive, Haylie served me at the bar as I was eating alone. I had fettuccine Alfredo and a glass of Merlot wine. The fettuccine was fantastic! It had a little different taste than I was accustomed to, but it was good and different. Also, the bread was very fresh and the oil for dipping also was season quite well. Prices are very reasonable and overall I had a fantastic time. A great restaurant just to get together for a business meeting or to go out with friends for a good time. SEVERE FOOD POISONING: On April 10, 2026, I had lasagna and a salad at Aboca's for lunch and contracted severe food poisoning that evening. Nine hours of nausea, vomiting, severe stomach cramps, diarrhea, chills and fever and feeling like I was having a heart attack. I spoke with Joe the following day, who assured me that they had never had a reported case of food poisoning (a lie, according to multiple public reviews) and that the owner would call back that day (another lie). We plan on filing a lawsuit against the restaurant this week. If you or anyone you know has contracted food poisoning at Aboca's, please contact gatsbysgrail on yahoo dot com. You can't literally poison your customers, then not even offer so much as an apology. This was a horribly painful and terrifying experience. Also an avoidable one. Aboca's no longer deserves to be in business. It's betrayed its trust with its customers. read more

This place used to be pretty good, but, after last night I won't be back. $13.99 for baked penne, the salad is no longer included (which they didn't say) so when asked if I wanted a salad I said with house dressing. Add $3.99 for that. The food wasn't worth the money, my vodka sauce didn't taste very good either. My husbands dish which had mushrooms also very clearly came from a can. read more

OMG! What a wonderful place! My daughter and her fiancé went with me for dinner and it was great! Price point? About the same as a national chain like Chili's (in our case cheaper). Service point? Even very busy we were seated promptly at a clean table and our server came over and introduced themselves very quickly. Food? Holy Moly Batman! Excellent and presented with panache! Portions were large, so we wound up taking some home. The next day they were as wonderful as the first. Not only highly recommend, but will be taking my wife here for our Anniversary date. My husband and I love this place. It's become one of our favorites. The food is phenomenal and the portions are large. You can't beat the value. Great wait staff. This beats a chain restaurant anytime. We try to go on off hours so it's not too busy and we've never had an issue being seated. Highly recommend. Brought my elderly mom here for a nice dinner out and neither of us left particularly happy or impressed. The food was barely average Italian-American fare. Side salads and dressing were good, but the loaf of bread and butter was like typical mass produced sourdough loaves. For entrees, we got the chicken carciofi (artichokes, cream) and veal piccata (garlic, capers, butter, white wine). The artichokes tasted vinegary which does NOT go well with cream sauce. Chicken was thin and bland. Same with the veal. The pasta that came with the piccata was a plain pile of noodles with a scoop of red sauce on top that looked and tasted like plain tomato sauce with some seasoning. Both dishes came with under-seasoned steamed broccoli and squash. The service was mediocre at best. So incredibly slow with water, with requests, with food, we felt like our presence was fully forgotten between every interaction. The server mispronounced some of the dishes which does not speak well of their training or understanding of the menu. I also ordered coffee for my mom after the meal, which she really enjoys, but... we never got it. The prices are pretty cheap, so no complaint there. And from listening to other tables and watching the owner and staff, this seems like a local favorite with many regulars, but I don't get it. Tonight's dinner was a major disappointment. The food came out cold and not as ordered. Server was inattentive- actually had considered not leaving a tip, but we eat here seven or eight times a year for many years. We have been weekly regulars at Aboca's for 7 years, but may not return. A month ago we went to see our favorite waitress on her last day. The air condition was out, but bearable. A month later we go and no air condition again. I understand in this heat it is hard to get ac repairs, but if customers decide to stay and dine, make sure they have plenty of ice water. I also spent the whole meal balancing the table that kept wobbling so badly that I had to hold the glasses on the table. The owner needs to pay attention to the decline of this restaurant. I ordered three dinners for 4 - feeding 12 very hungry people - and some crostatas too. I served the food to my friends and the selections were delicious and certainly generous portions. I received - chicken aboca, manicotti, lasagna, chicken Parmesan and pasta carbonara and even beautiful fresh vegetables cooked perfectly. Fresh bread, dipping sauce and three different large salads also - the ceasar , spinach, and the Aboca's special salad were included with the dinners too. I have been a dine in customer for many years and this is the first time I have used them for a small gathering at my home. Aboca's will be my new go to restaurant for catering! I went with a girlfriend on a Friday night! I waited for her in my car but I panicked as a flock of customers kept on coming in for dinner. Afraid that I might have to wait for seats, I stepped in the restaurant and waited for my friend inside instead! The place was spacious but tons of people kept on coming-- now you know that the place serves great food! I started off with their shrimp scampi appetizer. It was ok. Not bad, not good. I had the Chilean Bass with the house salad and it was amazing! I was expecting a slice of fish but it was pan seared fillet which is very tasty and delectable! Their wine isn't bad at all! I got a good Malbec glass wine and it was superb! It's a BYOB place as well and they do charge a dollar per glass! I will definitely come back again and try their other entrees read more

This place is nothing short of amazing! The staff is great, anticipating every request. Definitely a family atmosphere as well. I accompanied my sister to a work dinner. We ordered the shrimp risotto and the cannelloni. Both dishes were amazing! My favorite was the cannelloni, stuff with scrumptious beef and topped with delicious melted cheese. The portions were very generous and came with salad. I got the Caesar and my sister got the house. The staff then treated the table to a delicious assortment of Italian desserts. Tucked away on S. Central in Richardson this local Italian restaurant looks like it's been there for years. And for good reason. The food is great, wine menu pretty good, byob is allowed. Service fantastic; great bread & oil. I had the Aboca pasta with chicken : lite oil based sauce, artichoke hearts, veggies. Could've eaten it with out the chicken it's so good. She had the Sea bass.
