What took me so long? I've been reading reviews from fellow Yelp friends and had this on my radar for awhile now. It's my birthday weekend so I decided to treat myself to something new. Tucked away in the corner of a strip plaza, I used the GPS on my Harley to guide me in. Parking was a breeze and seeing 2 cop cars pulling in with me gave me another sign the place was probably pretty good. We were seated right away at a booth in the back. Very clean and nicely appointed I liked it already. Our waitress handed us menus and specials then off to grab our coffee and waters. Soon thereafter I noticed a lady walking around checking in on guests, I assumed the Mgr. She made her way to our table and asked if we'd been there before. Once she knew we were virgins she gave us the whole spiel about her daughter doing all the cooking, some cafe favorites and specials and made us feel warm and welcome. I had to try the homemade corned beef hash and eggs, wifey went with the pancakes. Mine came with choice of hash browns or grits and toast or a bagel. After listening to Ally's mom I changed from the hash browns to the creamy grits. Holy Toledo's you should see the size of the pancakes! Humongous! The corn beef hash was authentic and amazing. They only make it on the weekends and its truly freshly ground with nice big chunks of corned beef. Ally, you nailed it with this one! Wifey loved the pancakes,maid there was a hint of cinnamon and too my surprise they were too much for her to eat. We'd enjoyed chatting with Ally's mom as we learned of some next week specials. The Monte Cristo sounds amazing, we'll have to try it on a future visit because we won't be around for a couple weeks. We definitely found a new breakfast spot. I overslept and missed church this morning so I think I got here ahead the crowd but we'll make this a regular stop on our Sunday breakfast routine! Awesome job Ally, mom and crew.... read more

A VERY very quaint place. Heads up, we came here on the weekend for breakfast and it was rather busy but the wait wasn't terrible. One of those, sit, eat, and go type of function. You can tell because they would leave your check on the table early and you get up-then-pay up. We weren't looking for a dense meal but it seems as though that's not a option here. Spoiler alert, I couldn't finish my meal. We ended up settling for our cravings with fresh orange juice for beginners. My honey had the sausage & biscuits and I had their original Ally's eggs Benedict. Let's start with the S&B, the gravy was quite endless. Yes, endless. If you wanted to personify biscuits drowning in gravy, this is just that. Though you probably wouldn't help resuscitate because you'll soon be devouring them. Tasty and filling. Their eggs ben, like stated in the name is definitely original. Your English muffin is now your potato pancake and your ham is your fleshy tomato. All topped with your poached egg and again, drowning in Hollandaise sauce. Very savory, but at my expense, the amount of sauce was quite overwhelming. Arguably this is my negative connotation because potato pancakes don't soak up liquids like biscuits do. However my honey enjoyed the excess sauce so it could be your hit or miss here. A foodie gem hidden in a run down Plaza! I never knew this place existed and I drove by it so many times. Everything I had was orgasmic! Their specials menu changes every weekend. Their regular menu has many options as well. I got the homemade corned beef hash with two over easy eggs and home fries. The corned beef is so flavorful and seasoned wonderfully. It had fatty parts and lean parts which complimented each other perfectly. The home fries were good as well. My eggs were done exactly how I like it the server was a bit rushed and made us feel like she was in a hurry to turn over the table... But she did butter our wheat toast nicely. My friend had the country fried steak and eggs. The steak was fried crispy but the center was still tender and juicy. Amazing! We shared a Buttermilk Pancake and it was huge!! We stopped in here while visiting my son in Sunrise. We ordered breakfast which was very good and cooked perfectly. The food came out very quickly and the waitress and staff very friendly. We enjoyed it so much that we stopped back in the following day and again ordered breakfast this time with a mimosa for me. My wife didn't want OJ with champagne so the waitress offered a splash of cranberry juice. Perfect. Definitely recommend and will definitely be back when visiting in Sunrise. read more

I just want to say that this cafe is so amazing! Food and service was phenomenal! As soon as you walk in, you'll see the daily specials written on the white board. The hostess will offer you a booth or table, then guide you through their open dining area. The menu had some different dishes, like Ally's Benedict, so I definitely had to find out what that was about. Our server was new so she couldn't answer my question, BUT she did grab somebody else to fully answer any menu questions that we had. Turns out the person she grabbed was actually the owner's(Ally) mom, haha! Ally's benedict consists of 2 potato pancakes, tomatoes, poached eggs, and hollandaise sauce. Totally vegetarian and totally delicious! We also ordered the weekend special of pineapple upside down pancakes, super tasty! The pancakes were fluffy and sweetened lightly. While we were eating, both our server and Ally's mom came back to check in on us. She found out it was our first time and encouragingly offered us a taste of their grits. I'm indifferent towards grits, but my bf is a HUGE fan. He loved the grits and even insisted I tried them. The grits tasted like creamy liquid corn bread, yum! The dining room was packed, so for her to take her time and get to know us showed the restaurant's customer service level. First and last visit, unfortunately. We were seated quickly and were able to order quickly but the food was not that great. I got the homemade corned beef hash with a short stack of chocolate chip pancakes. The breakfast potatoes didn't seem to be seasoned at all. The hash was decent and the pancakes were awful. The texture was all wrong. My husband had an omelet and it was the saddest looking omelet I've seen. He didn't enjoy his meal either. This place does seem to stay busy so they aren't hurting for business but there are much better breakfast places. read more

It's a very sad day for Ally's. I'm a regular at their other location with over 27 check ins on Yelp. They used to have the best grits I've ever tasted and the best pancakes. The original Ally's had a homey feel to it, very cozy. When a business loses its focus on quality and focus on quantity you'll lose valuable customers. Our food this morning was warm borderline cold. And the waitstaff is very new shouting out to the guest if they need anything from a seated position. I think this was our last time at Ally's it was good while it lasted. This review is based more on the service and their loyalty rather than the food.....when it came time to pay, they have a loyalty (VIP) card that they gave me the last time we were there. It specifically says on the card: "Buy 6 entrees get the 7th FREE". There are no exclusions written on there. I handed the cashier the card and stated "4 entrees", she repeated back to me: "4 entrees, ok" but she only stamped one and handed the card back to me. I told her that she was missing the other 3 stamps and she said that she can't stamp it because it's 1 stamp per visit (nowhere on the card does it say 1 stamp per visit, it specifically says "entrees" NOT "visits". She then got the manager/owner, Scott and I told him that she wouldn't give us the 3 missing stamps for the entrees that we paid for and he stated that they aren't allowed to because the card is designed to bring us back. Which I then replied: "I will come back if you give us our stamps" he asked: "oh, an ultimatum?" Which I replied: "yes". His response was unbelievable. He said: "I'm ok with that." Fine by me....my boyfriend and I left. My boyfriend thereby left a review already and the owner, Scott, responded to his review and had the audacity to call us liars and say that we asked for 7 stamps and he says that the loyalty card does say one stamp per visit. I must be blind, because I don't see those words on it. By the way, I would have been completely ok with his original response being something like: "I can understand the confusion, the verbiage on the card is misleading so I will honor the 4 complete stamps this time, but in the future it is only 1 stamp per visit"...bam, we would have been happy, but his responses and lies about us were completely unethical and completely unwarranted. I can't understand a business that offers this level of service to their paying patrons. read more

This cozy place tucked in the corner of the Plaza is definitely more than it seems from the exterior. My friend and I were greeted almost immediately with one of the warmest acknowledgments I have experienced at any restaurant. Despite us being the hostess' first patrons for whom she wrote up an order, she was a quick learner, attentive and personable. She took the time to answer our questions about the menu and was patient as we finalized our order. What added to the experience were the customers that spoke highly of this place on their way out. The menu appears to offer something for everyone at affordable prices. I went to breakfast with my dad a couple of weeks ago, normally we stick to Lester's Diner or First Watch, but as we passed by About Time Cafe I mentioned I hadn't eaten there yet and wanted to try it. I ordered the sausage biscuits and gravy, and WOW was it yummy! The waitress was really sweet, but sadly I don't remember her name. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for good comfort food, but just keep in mind it can be a little pricey. read more

Great place for breakfast! I was looking for a hearty breakfast before departing on a cruise. This was the perfect spot! It was easy to get a table at 10am on a Saturday. The staff was friendly. The pancakes were fluffy but not too light. Three slices of perfectly cooked bacon...not too crispy and not too limp. My eggs came out perfectly. Food was pretty good overall. Their link sausages are nice. Taste like they are either made there or they add to a commercially made breakfast sausage mix. Obviously hand formed as there is no casing and shapes differ slightly. Eggs benedict is good, except the hollandaise is the thinnest I've ever seen, but did taste good. The hash browns had a funky taste to them though, like they'd been cooked on a grill that had a lot of other stuff cooked on it, including meats, or grease was used that maybe should have been tossed. Pancakes were great as always. The biggest knock was service. Had to ask for salt and pepper, and butter for the pancakes. Waitress didn't offer, nor did she ask if I wanted ketchup or hot sauce for my hash browns. I didn't, but she didn't even bother asking. Only drink refill we got was from another waitress who refilled my companions tea, even went to get sweet tea as she had unsweetened when she stopped. She also ended up taking our payment. Our waitress never came back to ask if we wanted drink refills. When she was clearing our plates, she finally asked if I wanted more coffee. Nope, j was done by then. Would gave been nice if she had asked 10 minutes previously. I'd give 3.5 stars if I could. read more

What a little diamond in the rough!! I've been to both locations, but prefer the sunrise one-it's larger. All of the food has been delicious!! The Hawaiian pancakes-yum!! Two pancakes, as big as the large plate, loaded with bananas, macadamia nuts, and coconut sauce. The spinach and feta omelette was delicious. The grits are creamy and perfect. The sausage are fantastic-large and perfectly spiced. Chocolate chip pancakes were packed with chops and the kids loved them. Service was fantastic! First time visit with my boyfriend today and we have DEFINITELY found our new breakfast/brunch spot! This place is amazing...I love the service and the hostess was incredibly kind and cheerful. It's nice to go somewhere and just have a conversation with someone new and have it be genuine. We were sat right away at a booth...it was a Sunday at about 1:15 so not very crowded (they closed at 2pm) I can imagine they are packed at some point! Anyway, on to the food! They have a pretty extensive menu and an additional list of specials. Their pancakes are freakin delicious! My boyfriend ordered a banana one, and it was huge. He also had the bacon omelette, home fries, and toast, which he ate all of and loved! I had the veggie omelette and added spinach and cheddar. It was great! I also had grits, which were phenomenal and creamy, along with an everything bagel that came out toasted and warm to the table. Great, great stuff. Only thing that wasn't too good was the coffee...a bit burnt but I'll chalk that up to it being close to closing and and an old pot. It's really just incredible food and service at good prices... I have now eaten at both locations and I like this location better. The food is great in both places. This one is a little bigger and I think the service is better. We didn't wait as long as I thought we would for a table we were seated rather quickly. Our server was tied up with another table so the bus boy came over got us started with our drinks while we looked over the menu. He was friendly and happy to help us. Our server, she was a trip. She reminded me of a waitress in a NY diner. The food was fantastic. My mom said she has never had grits this good. They are made fresh, not from a box. Everyone had eggs, they were cooked just the way everyone order them. They came out hot too. My wife had a Greek omelette with avocado and no tomatoes, and I got the smores pancakes with my meal. The omelette was good but the pancakes were to die for. There was a marshmallow cream between them and chocolate on the top. I don't normally leave reviews, but I'm such a lover of mom and pop businesses and this is one of the best I've ever been to !! I regret being greedy and not taking any photos to share . The food was beyond amazing , and I'm and incredibly picky eating. Everything was so mouth watering delicious ! I was by several times while on vacation . The service I received is something your hard press to find these days ! The staff are such beautiful people , they're all so sweet and patient and made the experience a billion times better. Being from New York , it was such a breath of fresh air to experience this place . The ambiance was so relaxing and welcoming !! It gave a feeling of comfort , the vibe of kick off your shoes and stay a while , enjoy the company and atmosphere ( don't actually take your shoes off though ).
