First it took for ever for them to come out of the kitchen .They were greasy and the chicken was stringy. I ordered the biscuits and gravy for breakfast this morning. Overall it was very delicious. However it really needs about half the salt that it has. The salt content was high enough to slightly burn in my mouth. Other than that the gravy was a perfect consistency and had chunks of sausage links aplenty. We've eaten here several times as it changed hands. The staff is nice, the place is small and outdated. Those I can look past but the continuous decline in food is undeniable. This last visit will be our last. I stick with the chicken salad, it's a safe bet. I however asked for my chicken salad on white bread with no onions and tater tots. From the moment I walked in I felt like I was in an elegant comfortable Cafe. The new owners have changed the restaurant in a way that it's comfortable relaxing and warm. The food was wonderful. I can't remember the last time I had an omelette where they sauted the ingredients before they put them in the eggs.The bacon was not the cheap bacon that you get at most places it with a thick cut of bacon and very tasty. My wife and I absolutely love this place. We went for the first time a couple of weeks ago and had a fantastic experience. We were greeted when we walked in, sat right away and received nothing but excellent customer service the entire time we were there. At one point the owner was making his way around to make sure everybody had what they needed and reassured everyone waiting that their food would be right up. We will most definitely be coming back here and highly recommend you try it for yourselves. Oh, not to mention, the food was delicious! The country fried steak is as good as I've had anywhere in the country being tender, fried to perfection and served with eggs cooked to order and sausage gravy that was great in itself. The fried grits were also a treat being two pieces with a honey honey mustard sauce for dipping. The corned beef hash was cooked just right. The creamy oatmeal was hot and fresh with brown sugar, butter and cream if you use it. The coffee was good and the service friendly, prompt and efficient. Fellow Yelpers, For me absolute best thing about ally's is the GRITS!! They are like no other grits I have ever had. I can not say enough about them. That's probably the only reason I go here. The space is a fairly small dining room with. It a lot of waiting area when waiting for a table. The decor is pretty basic and does not have anything hat stands out and makes them unique It's a bit dated looking to be honest. The menu has a lot to offer and also a daily specials menu is pretty big as well. The prices for the specials are a bit high The service is hit or miss. I have been there when the owner has been not so friendly and also when she was friendlier. But I seem to always remember about the not so friendly time more. The servers are ok. The food is good but not worth waiting a long time to seat for. Basic breakfast foods. Would I recommend Ally's? I'd say yes. I think there is a lot they can do to really be a much better business. Stopped here for pizza before heading to a show at BB&T Center. We were the only ones in the restaurant but the server was very friendly and not overly attentive. We tried the bee sting pizza which had pepperoni and a honey drizzle. It was amazing! The dough is excellent and they even have homemade hot sauce which was really good too. About time cafe formerly alys 2 is our go to breakfast joint. After alys sold the food quality went a little downhill so we stopped going. We heard that the place was under new management but kept the about time cafe name. We decided to give them another chance, and sure glad we did. The food is as good if not better than it was when it was alys, and has some really good menu options that they didn't have back then. You can now get mimosas as breakfast and beer and wine at lunch and dinner. The craft pizza is amazing, especially the breakfast pizza. The crust is made with beer and it gives it a nice flavor. If you go for breakfast the Florentine pizza is a must try. If you go for dinner try the Cajun wings and tots with beer cheese! If you were a former alys regular like we were, give this place another chance, you won't regret it. read more

Just left and had a server names Crystal who clearly didn't understand English, even though she spoke it very well. What part of cooked fried eggs no runny yolk is so hard to understand!?!?!? 1st time I said to myself "OK maybe I wasn't clear". 2nd plate exactly the same after I CLEARLY SAID NO RUNNY YOLK OVER MEDIUM. A friend and I stopped in for breakfast. We walked in and waited a few minutes before we went up to someone to ask if we seat ourselves or what. She seemed clueless as she thought we were waiting to check out. Anyway- when we sat down it was at least 5 minutes or a few more for a waitress to come greet us. We ordered our drinks and food together. We waited about 30 minutes for our food. They weren't even busy. The food was okay at best. Our waitress definitely couldn't multi task.
