I gave this place one star for their lack of customer service, knowledge and phone etiquette. I was referred to this establishment by a colleague. I was in need of a diagnostic for my Infiniti FX35. Called this place and a guy answered the phone. I explained to him I needed a diagnostic for my car and he says "have you been here before". I explain again that I have not been there before and I need a diagnostic. The guy says with an attitude"so this is your first time". I respond "yes, this is my first time". He asks what type of car I have and I promise I said the make and model about 10 times. I finally yelled " Infiniti FX35. F AS IN FRANK". He says "oh I've never heard of that model". Any shop that has not heard of a popular make/model shouldn't be in the car fixing business. On that note I went elsewhere. If you're not familiar with Infiniti's you definitely won't be working on my car. Please familiarize yourself with staff on different makes me models. read more

Car repair shops are infamous for being seedy shysters. The fact that Above Car Care has an average of five stars says a lot. I've been there for two jobs now, and both experiences have been excellent. Prices are reasonable, the jobs are done with high quality, the mechanics are upfront about what's needed, they don't tack on extra jobs to make more money knowing that you're captive to their work. Today, a smog check, I was told after several minutes that it should be done in half an hour; it was actually less than 15 minutes. They don't have much of a waiting room, but they're within a few blocks of Walgreen's and Dollar Tree if you need to get some things while you wait. It's such a relief that a good car repair shop exists, and right on the outskirts of downtown Concord. The problem is that these Yelp reviews may result in so much business to Above Car Care that you may not be able to drive in and out in one afternoon with no appointment. Long-short story, I was skeptical when the first time I went here to do oil change for my Scion Xb and the mechanic ( Will ) told me that one of the bolts that hold my front left caliper was stuck ( because the previous guy whom did an awful job on my break pads by forcefully tighten the bolt even though not fits ) and I need to change the caliper when I have to replace my front break pads. I did my research online and went around to couple mechanics and they identified it as the same problem with higher price quotes, added the worst part that one of those mechanics said I need to rebuild the whole front break system. Hence, I went back to Above Car Care and talked with Vinh ( the owner ) and he helped me out with the most reasonable price. Don't know how is their job performance is but what I know 100% that I just receive terrible customer service from front desk man / mechanic Maybe he close couple more positions not sure, But his customer service skills need huge improvement. Then I went to other mechanic shop, And I told them absolutely same thing Guess what, in 3 minutes I have the appointment and a reasonable price for this fix, without leaving my car for unknown amount of time and having unexpected expenses trying to figure out my way out of service and back Just for an estimate. I guess you have a lot of business and don't interested in new customers, you did a great job in that case . Good luck with your business, I will take mine somewhere else. Long wait times not able handle how to prioritize customer waiting vs on the phone. if you have a urgent needs don't visit this place since they take 1-2 hours to provide estimations. They could handle waiting customers in better way. Also labor cost for almost all changes are $180/hour, so this place is no different from dealerships. read more

So I go In for an oil change. And I come back with a battery change. My car is running on half the voltage with a cheap die hard battery. I didn't ask for a battery change. That was straight jacked. They are the last company to touch my car with my keys for maintenance. I live alone and I don't just give out my keys. EDIT: owner sent me a message to solve the conflict for my mystery battery change, offering to pay for the battery. I think that this gesture shows integrity on behalf of the business. Although I stand by the fact that they were the last company to have my car keys, this incident shouldn't reflect the reputation of the entire company, but there could be a shady employee. I've had good service here before and I think everyone should make their own judgements based on personal experience, so I hope customers continue to give this business a chance despite my experience. I have never requested a quote over yelp before, so when I requested a quote to a different auto place, they sent my request to this place as well as three others. This place is a lot further than I was willing to travel, so I never would have known about it. The other three places got back to me requesting more info and telling me I'll need to pay for diagnostics before they could quote me. This place however sent me a suggestion for a repair I could easily do myself... Which I gave it a go, and it fixed my problem! I saved hundreds repairing it myself, and so I feel bad that they didn't get my service, however that kind of help really spoke to me so I'd definitely recommend them and I'll give them an actual try next time my car needs some serious help I can't fix on my own. They caught a leak in my radiator and I actually went to a different shop to get it repaired because I didn't know they did repairs. What type of shit is this ? My former "trusty" mechanic finally tried play me smh . I used to go to ABOVE AUTO CARE in concord until today. So my girl and I go in for an AC panel control replacement. We provide the part . 5-1/2 hours later he installs it . On our way home we test out the controls and now it stays on heat . We call him and his reply is .. "You gave me a part and you told me to install it so I did you never told me to diagnose it" ... I was appalled.. He's a mechanic. Wouldn't you think he would test it out and then give me options if it didn't work ? I know exactly what the problem is. .. Anyways , he proceeded to belittle me and my lady like we were in the wrong but simple customer courtesy call like any other good mechanic would've helped just to let us know what was going on before he wasted our time in which he states we wasted his time when we are the paying customers .. . Our intentions were to make our AC controls work properly again not leave more f*cked up than it already was .. He "washes his hands" by installing our old part back on (in less than 30 minutes) and giving a refund and has the nerve to tell us don't ever do this to me again! Smh .. NOPE NEVER AGAIN! They didn't try to up-sell me anything but when I asked about my breaks (because they were squeaking), she explained that I should wait until all breaks were close to wearing down before changing them all at once. I have had my car serviced here a few times. I thought it was a good place until I took it to a specialized Infiniti mechanic who informed me that 1. The had striped and cracked some bolts when installing my slave cylinder 2. The bottom covering of my car was reattached backwards 3. When they put the tires back on the wheels they were not bolted in firmly. I am no expert on cars but it seems like these are major oversights from a lay persons point of view. I will definitely not be bringing my car back here. And of course I was not pleased paying for over a grand worth of work to discover these pitfalls. read more

Above auto care did a great job of replacing my lower control arms on my Toyota sienna van and while they were down there they noticed that my driver side CV axle boot was torn and leaking grease everywhere and since they already had the parts out they were able to replace it for a lot cheaper than it normally would be.
