Very new to the area having recently moved from Chicago where there are lots of Mexican restaurants and taco stands. I ordered the carne asada that is typically a skirt steak and what I received was a very thin, chewy piece of meat. The black beans were good, although way too much salt. Overall, very disappointing and I will keep looking for a decent Mexican food spot to go to. read more

ZERO STARS: We got absolutely awful costumer service after them getting our order wrong on several fronts and wouldn't make it right. It's a shame because I actually like this place but feel like the manager doesn't know what he's doing. Stopped in with two other people for dinner. Two of us ordered a draft beer (has to be the first time I have ever been served a room temperature draft beer). I should have left then, but went ahead and ordered food. I ordered chicken fajitas with a side of three fresh jalapeños. The fajitas were far from sizzling upon reaching our table, the onions and peppers were soggy. As of the side of jalapeños, I received a cup of sliced jalapeños out of a can or jar. My wife ordered the Carne Asada, the steak was almost as thin as a steak-um (for the bargain price of $15.00 and tasted terrible. Cheap drinks, but the service is horrible. Even when it's slow on a Monday. Also the sever asked if we wanted a drink, we said yes. However, I believe she was clocked out. Stopped in tonight and fajita ala mex which is always good. My husband had a giant burrito and like it very much. Tuesday is 1.00 tacos which attracting high school kids and they were very busy. We saw several teens be served by a young girl they knew who served them all margaritas "no id". Hope management notices. Bland salsa, dry tacos, and a poorly configured layout pretty much sum up this spot. We hit it up On "Taco Tuesday" and it was packed. Not sure why though as "Dollar Monday" features the same special ($1 tacos), however, also includes things like enchiladas for the $1 price... The queso was ok at best and the tacos really lacked any flavor at all. No sauces were available (other than tapatio) and the tacos were so dry they were barely edible.. The "drink menu" was short on options and the service was ok. That will be out last taco Tuesday here....I'd rather hit up Taco Bell (and not because I'm a fan). Update: Feb 13, 2018----So, we decided to give this place another shot on Taco Tuesday. Surprisingly, it was much better than our previous visit. Tried the chicken tacos this time and that made all the difference in the world! The chicken was much more flavorful than the beef....and has us wanting to go back! we stop here every time on the way to Boca Grande for lunch. We have friends that live nearby. Great way to catch up and enjoy a nice meal. The restaurant is clean and the staff is very friendly and attentive. We enjoy their authentic Mexican dishes. can't go wrong with their chicken burrito or the huge wet beef burrito. portions were large. salsa and chips were nice to snack on while waiting for lunch. highly recommend to stop in if you. get the chance. read more

I don't know why this place is lowly rated but their food is so tasty. Everything tastes so fresh. Especially their guacamole and sour cream. Their salsa has so much flavor. It's like a bath bomb for your mouth. If you're a Coke lover, their Coke is perfectly carbonated to perfection. It's delicious. Mexican is my favorite and I eat it all the time. I'm hard to impress, but this place is off the chain. You won't regret eating here. Some weekdays are a little slow in service, but they've been hiring more staff so it's much quicker. Everyone is welcoming. Definitely delicious and a hidden secret! Also, their dining room is beautiful as well. read more

Very sad to see bad and unreliable reviews! Moved to LWR last year and wasn't sure about trying it. Went tonight with low expectations and I have to say our minds were blown! It was amazing! First off the bartender was incredible, Ebony was very knowledgeable and attentive and drinks were perfect. We had the appetizer sampler which was so good, loved everything. Hubby had 3 steak tacos and black beans that he loved, I had the combo chimichanga and quesadilla both very good. Chimichanga beef reminded me of an amazing slow cooked beef chili. Prices were great and service was fantastic! I'm so glad it's so close to home, I will def be back! read more

Just moved to the area. Looked inviting from the outside. Resembled the look of a sports bar on the inside. Wife and I sat at a table and ordered Sangria. Turned out to be more fruit juice then wine. Visited this restaurant on a Monday and we're told a 10 minute wait as they said it was very busy and they didn't want to over load the kitchen with tables. We waited about 25 minutes and then the hostess rushed over apologizing that she forgot to seat us even though we were sitting right in front of her on the benches. We went and sat at the table that was sticky and felt gross when the waiter came over with the bowels of chips stacked on the top of the salsa making a big mess of salsa over the bowels of chips now sitting on the table. When our drinks arrived the waiter had the drinks stacked up in his hands with his hands touching the rim of the glasses. I had a frozen margarita that was almost complete liquid and watered downed. The bathrooms were dirty and the men's bathroom had a toilet completely clogged with crap. Food arrived and it looked like dog food. It was sloppy looking and tasted horrible. I'm not sure how this place even passes inspections because its not come off sanitary nor does the staff request health and safety. I would not recommend anyone to go here at all read more

I was very disappointed in our experience at Acapulco. Right off the bat, I noticed the chips were stale. I ordered cheese dip, and it oddly tasted like lettuce. I got the chicken fajitas and the chicken was extremely dry. The "guacamole" was clearly from a package and tasted like plastic. The tortillas were overly toasted. I was clearly finished eating very quickly, and our server didn't come back for 20 minutes, and only after I finally got my credit card out at the end of the table did he show up. We won't be back. Save your money and time and go elsewhere for much better Mexican food. read more

I'm picky about Mexican because I grew up in California near the Mexican border where the food is AMAZING. This is not that good, but it's the closest I've come since I moved to Bradenton. Service can be slow in the main dining room (probably due to staff shortages) so if you're in a hurry sit at the bar. It's kid-friendly and the food, so far, has been consistently good. Their salsa is the bomb - very authentic with the exact amount of cilantro a salsa should have. I highly recommend the tacos Del Mar with grilled tilapia. Delish!!!! I've been going to the Acapulco for about seven years now without ever writing a review. I thought I would today. I've always loved the place especially the bar where I met DJ. She's probably without a doubt the best bartender south of Tampa with no exaggeration she's very personable and always makes sure you're taken care of. Her personality makes the place you should give her a big fat raise to keep her. I've tried just about everything on the menu but last night I decided to have shrimp tacos. Well I've gotten into shrimp tacos lately after trying them at another local restaurant so I thought I'd ask my friend DJ if those were on the menu where she of course replied "No But we can make anything" so she came up with a concoction of a taco with plenty of shrimp in it using the sauce they put on fajitas EPIC!!! Is all I can say. Thanks Junior and the rest of your family and congratulations on a successful restaurant in Manatee County.. The only drawback is the size of the bar. Sometimes you go and there's not enough seats for the butts that are waiting. But then if you get any bigger you have to have two bartenders and I know Junior is probably too cheap for that. Ha ha just kidding down boy down! I want to give a shout out to Christian who's been working in every aspect from pouring drinks to cleaning windows for quite a few years now. He graduated high school last year and moving onto technical school I think to be an electrician. I guarantee you he will have trucks and vans and his own business before you know it. Going downhill faster than the Titanic, Used to be good food and service...didn't get either tonight (nor will we in the future as we won't be back). The place was not busy. We were told there was no queso dip. After some discussion the dip was found and brought to the table. Chips were overcooked. Drink orders were not correct. The food was all brought to the table cold. My quesadilla had no real taste except for salt. After all that, we were denied use of our $10 coupon (with a $20 purchase) supposedly because we bought the 2/$22 meal. Was this not over $20??? We also each ordered 2 margaritas. I wonder if we had ordered 2 $10 meals we would have been able to use the coupon??? The server said come back next week when the other manager is there and our coupon would be honored. What????
