I began the difficult process of researching memory care facilities. After touring many facilities, we found Aegis Living of Kent to be the best of the bunch. The staff is amazing, the flow of their facility is wonderful and their apartments are much nicer than any of the other properties I toured. They have have fun events for residents and their families, they have their own bus for group outings. Their secured outside grounds for residents is beautifully maintained (my mom loves to be outdoors when the weather is nice). I valued finding a facility that is fully focused on memory care, and not a hybrid property where you have both assisted living AND memory care and the staff rotate between both. At Aegis Living of Kent, the entire facility is focused on memory care, so the staff is experienced in this area. I highly recommend Aegis Living of Kent if you are seeking a memory care facility for a loved one.

These folks have a HUGE selection of gently-used manual wheelchairs, motorized wheelchairs (I…read morethink!), wheelchair cushions, hospital beds, toilet chairs, bedpans, portable urinals, laptop tables on wheels (to use with a hospital bed), recliners, etc. I needed a wheelchair because my back problems are getting worse and I kept falling, even with using my rollerator. I didn't want to wait for Medicare/Medicaid to approve a wheelchair purchase b/c they take too long and they usually spend the least amount of money for a person's medical needs. Instead, I paid out of pocket for a nice wheelchair that was originally $300. I paid $85! And the service was great, too. There's a guy named Bob who fixes wheelchairs and other mobility devices. He was friendly and thorough! He made sure that my wheelchair had everything it needed. He swapped out some parts for better parts and fixed the two footrests about two weeks later because one of them kept falling off. All of their profits from sales go back into the Multiple Sclerosis community to help people pay rent, get jobs, etc. I am glad I could help out by buying one of the wheelchairs. I plan on returning in a month or so to buy some more used accessories for my wheelchair. There WAS a weird woman who kept pestering me about things I was looking to buy. At first, I thought she worked there but she was just an obnoxious customer. She kept trying to touch my hair! My caregiver had to tell her to back off! Thankfully, she wasn't there the second time my caregiver and I went there. Anyway... ;-)

There is now no parking available unless you're among the lucky first. The parking garage, that used to always have room even on busy days, is crammed full and street parking all along Aloha is full too. If a cancer patient drove their own self they can park half a mile away and hike multiple blocks up a steep hill. Just the sort of stress and exertion someone needs while fighting cancer.

It's scary to know you need a place like this to care for a loved one. But, if you have to have cancer treatment and disease management, this medical clinic is amazing! They can co-ordinate care with other providers outside of SCCA, and even if you require care in another state. They are now going to be partnering with UofW, and they are also expanding the clinics on the Eastlake Campus. If you have a loved one with cancer, go here first. If you have been to another medical facility, get a second opinion here! We are extremely fortunate that the amazing staff have chosen to dedicate their time and care to the PNW.

Since my present hospital bed is breaking down, I had the owner of my AFH contact them for a replacement. After months (and doctor visits) after getting the prescription approved, they *finally* contact the home to say that they did not get the prescription approved in a timely manner, and since they no longer accept my insurance, they were unable to fulfill the request. This, after they delayed for months until such time as they no longer took the insurance certainly sounds fishy, to say the least, especially since we faxed them the prescription the moment we received it from my primary care doctor. I have suggested that our home no longer use the service, and also suggest that you do likewise.
