My experiences have all been good at this location, but my last visit was exceptional. When I arrived at the Emerald aisle, I was immediately helped by Mr. Jadon. He was kind, and quick to help. When I asked for a specific vehicle, I wasn't very hopeful. I usually do a quick search of the Emerald aisle and if there's no vehicle that I specifically want, I tend to just grab whatever. This time I required a four-wheel-drive.. Jaden did not have to go out of his way to help me find what I was looking for, but he did so anyway, and he did it with a good attitude. Maybe the bar is on the floor for most of my experiences with employees, but Jadon went above and beyond to assist me, I was happy to get the vehicle that I wanted, but I travel enough that that's not enough to qualify going out of my way to spend the time too right a review. His customer service was exceptional. I wish more people had his work ethic. It's rare these days. Jadon, if you're reading this, I appreciate you dude.

The valet was so kind to me because he saw the state I was in due to the issues with the rental I was having to swap out. (It had a flat tire and I was driving on a doughnut wheel!) I even asked him for a hug and let him know how much his kindness meant to me at that moment. The office manager was fast and professional and had no problem looking up my rental agreement and getting me swapped over into another vehicle so that I could get home back to Houston. Both of these guys redeemed the poor service that I received from the League City location where I initially got the first rental. I hope that corporate reads these reviews and follows up to recognize these employees!

When I arrived at the Budget location, there was a sign directing all customers to Avis. I went over there only to find a line about 27 people deep and waited 40 minutes just to reach the counter. When it was finally my turn, the employee looked up my reservation and told me there were no gas vehicles available--only EVs. I explained that I was driving to a remote area where charging infrastructure isn't reliable, so an EV wasn't an option. He then told me I'd have to go on a 2-hour waitlist for a gas vehicle, and even then there was no guarantee I'd get one. I reminded him that I had a reservation for a gas car at noon. His response? "The reservation is for the time, not the car." That completely defeats the purpose of making a reservation. I explained that I had an event to get to and was understandably frustrated. A supervisor came over, and after I explained everything, his response was, "What do you want me to do about it, cry or be sad for you?" I've never been spoken to like that by someone in customer service. It was incredibly unprofessional and showed a complete lack of respect for customers. They offered no solution other than waiting two hours for a vehicle that wasn't even guaranteed to be available. I told them to cancel my reservation. The employee said he did, but I had a feeling he hadn't. I called Budget customer service afterward, and sure enough, the reservation was still active--they had to cancel it over the phone. Thankfully, I opened Turo, found a vehicle immediately, and was on the road within minutes. Reservations should mean something. Stop overbooking vehicles and start treating customers with respect. I rented my car through Costco Travel, which is one of the best-kept secrets if you're a frequent traveler. You can find amazing rates through them if you have a Costco membership, and their system automatically applies the best coupon to your reservation! Use it if you have a membership! My plane landed in Austin early, and it was no problem getting my car. I took the long walk over to the car rental desk and got my car. It was clean, had very few miles, and was in good condition. Even the tank was legitimately full, which I appreciated. I had zero issues with the car during my week-long rental period. Drop-off was an absolute breeze too. Nobody really likes car rental companies and there are very few positive reviews (probably because people don't bother writing a review unless something goes wrong), but Budget is a-okay in my book! I wouldn't hesitate to rent from them again when I'm in the Austin area.

When it was finally my turn & I asked why & they said they had staff shortages, & Avis owns Payless. So it appears they need to increase wages. But worse was when I returned the car with no time to fill it with gas, & I assumed they'd charge regular rates to fill it. Two weeks later when overcharged, the billing department said it was because they charge $9.99 per gallon! This rate had NEVER been communicated to me on the website, in the emailed reservation, or at the counter, so shame on AVIS! This rate should be communicated & transparent to all customers ahead of time. DO NOT RENT FROM PAYLESS or AVIS!
