My husband came in today for a flat tire and was raving about what great service he received. We made an appointment online and were able to be seen in two days since our flat tire. Our mechanic was able to locate the hole on the tire, said it looked like a nail went in and somehow came out, and was able to patch it for $40. Said our tires are near perfect and thankfully we didn't need to replace them. What's better yet is that the tire patch has a lifetime warranty. I brought my car there to have my alternator replaced. Their website quoted me $539 for parts and labor, but upon bring my car there I was told the repair was going to be over $800 not including tax as they said this job would take 3 hours. I've replaced alternators in previous cars of mine, and i've watched YouTube videos of it for this particular car. This shouldn't take more than an hour or so start to finish if you have a lift, you slip off the serpentine belt, remove two bolts holding a bracket on, remove three bolts securing the alternator, and disconnect a wiring harness from the alternator and remove one nut on the rear of it. There is no way this could possibly take 3 hours even DIY on the street and without power tools. They refused to bring a tech out to look at the car and explain how it would take 3 hours. They refused to honor their own quote. They refused to let me talk to a manager about why the quotes from their website aren't being honored. I've decided to check some of their other website quotes, to replace my serpentine belt they want $200. The belts themselves are $30 and based on their $170 labor rate, they for some reason think a 5 minute job really takes an hour. All you do is put a long ratchet on the tensioner, slip off the old belt, route the new belt and put it back on the tensioner. If you want to be grossly overcharged, this Acorn location is a great choice. And unsurprising, all the reviews on their website are fake. If you leave one, it wont show up. And of all 46 reviews, all are 5 star. This is completely the opposite of Yelp, Google, BBB and any other review website which has plenty of bad reviews. read more

1 star would be too high of a rating for this place if there was a way to leave negative five stars that would be it. Several years back I brought my 2007 Honda Odyssey in for a front-end alignment and I purchased the lifetime option bring it in anytime after the first one we will do another alignment free. I'm the second owner of this minivan I purchased it in Arkansas so there is no significant rust underneath it and I only use it for summer traveling on long trips and for fall soccer season after it gets put away until winter is over. There is no significant rust underneath this vehicle. I was looking for new tires and I was interested in the Michelin defender 2's I had called Acorn up and asked them what their price was they quoted me $1250.00 I had other quotes from Discount tires for $840. If they would have been within a 100 to 150 I would have had no problem buying them there since I do have the lifetime alignment with them. But let's face it that price isn't even close. So I got the tires put on at Discount tires and brought it to acorn to have them do my free alignment. I'm a mechanic myself and I had just replaced the lower control arms including the bushings and ball joints sway bar bushings and the sway bar links that connect up to the strut tower. I had replaced the struts and coil springs back in the summer of 23 so I had the two bolts that hold the strut tower to the steering knuckle off and on when that work was done. So they put it up on the rack and tell me that the camber is way out of adjustment and they need to remove the top bolt for the strut tower and replace it with a aftermarket camber bolt kit ($12.50 part see pics). The cost will be $350. According to the Honda service manual the only thing that's adjustable on this particular vehicle is the toe in toe out Honda made no provision for camber and caster to be adjusted on this particular vehicle. If you brought it to a dealership they would start looking for bent components or possibly you may have to use this camber bolt kit if your car was in a front end collision which mine wasn't. They claimed the high price was because there was so much rust that the bolt was frozen and wouldn't come off. You mean the same bolt that I had off just a year and a half ago? A big fairy tale. So I walked out of there and told him to go you know where. I went to Firestone up on Skokie boulevard on Dempster where they threw it up on their rack and told me there's nothing wrong with my Camber it's within spec (see report pic) and just as I had suspected that the toe in and toe out needed some adjusting. Just to double check everybody's work I got a camber gauge myself I leveled the car out (see pics) and checked it and found my results to be very close to what Firestone came up with granted I'm doing this out in the cold and with some basic old school methodology. Let's face it most of these places will never honor their lifetime guarantees there's always going to be some excuse as to why we can't do the work your turn signal fluid is too low and we need to fill it for $350 otherwise it won't be safe? Cost me $130.00 at Firestone. Do yourself a favor and run from this place they should be closed down. These guys are scam artists and thieves. An issue with my car was misdiagnosed by Acorn while it was still under warranty. I was sure there was a problem and attempted speaking to the mechanics during that visit to have the item addressed, but they insisted there was no issue. The problem returned a few weeks later with an engine code after my warranty expired and I was left on the hook for nearly $5k in repairs completely out of pocket with no offer to make things right from Acorn. read more

I went to their location at 6200 Licoln Ave, Chicago and was totally ripped off. Not only are their prices high, but they did NOT fix my rear driver's light. They charged me $340 and one month later the light burned out again. Then I went in because I had a 'whirring' noise in my AC and then it stopped working after they inspected it. They quoted me a starting price of $2700 - 4200 because they might have to replace many components. I took it to a mom and pop around the corner and added some freon and it works just fine. I use to work in a bicycle shop and the certain customers never took my word until they were spoken by a man. This place is a hidden gem, it's was fast, reliable, and affordable. The waiting was different but understandable since everyone is experiencing staff shortages. I purchased the service and set the appointment for a different date. My dad did bring in the car and he waited a while and I received a phone call stating it was ready when my dad was there. Very friendly customer service. They squeezed us in to switch out our tires and change the brakes and rotors on the entire car...completed on the same day as dropped off. This place is NOT professional. I scheduled tires installation with them at 5pm on 9/22 through Goodyear. The guy who helped us (Estrada) was in a hurry. After taking everything out before the installation, he wasn't able to fit the new tires and told us the tires couldn't fit. I asked him to put everything back in because the tires we need were not available at the store. Right after that, my girlfriend found out something was missing (a metal piece) and I told him. He said sorry he forgot to install it. He got back to rework on our car (I'm not sure if he forget anything else). The car made some loud noises that night and we had a flat tire the next morning on the way to work. I called the manager and he didn't seem to help (He said nobody he talked to touch it which is totally wrong because I have the invoice with the work #583605 in front of me). I have been a customer of there's for about a year. People and staff are nice but unfortunately the service and quality of work is poor. They installed 4 brand new tires and I had to go back twice due to slow leaks from the valves. My cars tire pressure system still doesn't work after the installation. To top it off we just got a flat and the roadside assistance guy struggled to get one lug-nut off as he said whomever installed it had damaged it. The thread must have been messed up on install. Anyways we take it to Acorn to get a new tire and they snapped off the lug-nut. They now are charging to replace it which to me is unethical as if the original tire was installed properly thus never would have happened. Choose another place that stands behind their work. To me to seemed like an obvious case to fix at no charge but Chris the manager didn't agree. He basically was in denial that they would have damaged the lug nut on install. Also I had to chase them with calls 3 days in a row as I never got a call back as the front desk guys said they would. My dad needed 4 new tires on his car and he went to a competitor who came back with a crazy high quote. We brought the car to Acorn and they were very competitive and a much better deal than the other tire place. Got the tires installed the same day as they said they would. It was 90 minutes before they closed and they still got it done. They just did some work on my other cars and they always do great work and I have never had to come back for due to bad work. I trust these guys and they have solid follow up and really let you know where costs are going to be. At the end of the day, they are reasonably priced and do great work. I had an appointment, and dropped off my car for an alignment. Dmitri, the customer rep, told me 1.5 hours, so he'll call when it's done. I told him I will be in the neighborhood shopping around at the local stores. Two hours later, no phone call, so I stopped in to see if it my car was done. Dmitiri was not there, so another customer rep attended to. After a few minutes of not finding my car in the computer system, he finally found the paper work. Came in with a slow leak tire. Was told they would check it and call me on what was going to be done. 1 hour wait. Came back to a completed tire! Patched. Charged $48!!!!! Was told that the nail was in a bad place and that it was a special patch job. Normal price was $25 but I was charged $10 extra for a special grind cause of a bad angle!! Charged $10 more for special patch that is needed to fit the bad angle!!! $45 plus tax! I said I bet you will all high five each other when I leave for collecting the highest price ever charged for a patch at a Goodyear store!! He laughed and said that at least it's done and I'm not stranded in the 12 degree weather!! Acorn sells used tires for $40!!! 17" tire $40 dollars, 2" patch $48!!!! I was supposed to get a diagnostic analysis of what is wrong with my truck because my check engine light came on. I went in with a free coupon that is on a website. I came out paying over 100.00 dollars! Which apparently is not a lot of money according to the person ringing me up who could not speak English well. I was expecting a computer printout analysis/diagnostic and instead I got an estimate for 760.00+!!! For this much you can rebuild an engine! They went over how my truck needed new spark plugs and all kinds of stuff. Right after this incident, I took my truck to get a simple $39.95 oil change and a new air filter and my check engine light turned off. In response to Frank A's comment below my initial review: Sir, you obviously didn't do your homework correctly. If you had you would've seen the brake repair as stated in my last review and the set of four tires I purchased in the last six months. Additionally you may have also found that my relations have used your service as well and have had tire work and other miscl repairs here for over a decade. One of the families you speak of in the business owner comments. I could go on and on, but I'll stop. Since he took the time I guess I could write an update, last visit was decent. I came back some months ago because I needed a new set of tires on my ride before selling it. It's laziness and helping the neighborhood business that I decided to get tires here. That and I'd already gotten quotes from local tires shops and here was the price and quality of tire I liked most. Firestone has always been a nuisance and it's hard to go back. Also Acorn was able to take care of me at the time I really wanted to get the tire work done. I opted for their standard grade all weather tires, since I was selling my transportation there was no need to get extra special. They gave me a quote which matched the final price, quoted some repairs which I skipped on and gave me the car at the time they promised. For that it was a good experience. P.S, its good to get the extended warranty thingy (tire insurance) they offer on each tire, I think it's $10-$15 +/- dollars per tire? I can't remember I know I have purchased that from here in the past and in one case with a faulty tire it benefited us to have that tire insurance. Like I stated in my previous review I haven't a problem with their tire service, it's getting any other repair that has blown my mind away. And that really depends more on the associate selling the repairs I think. Those guys come and go as do mechanics, that's just a standard observations of all automotive shops. Like with any business you use for major work it's best to get a business card or try to work with the same person on a first name basis repeatedly if you liked their service previously. read more

I ended up getting a flat tire (actually, the tire was torn to shreds so I was driving with the "donut"). I wanted a Goodyear tire and I found out about Acorn Tire after doing a quick Google search. Bernie Aufegger was the gentleman that assisted me and he was very professional. I waited in the waiting area and he came by TWICE to update me on the status of my tire change. The price wasn't too excessive. I could have gotten it a bit cheaper in the South Side but I'm not gonna squabble over $10, $15 bucks. Also, the excellent service made up for it AND they threw in a free umbrella. The only reason that I didn't give them five stars was because instinct told me to check the trunk to see if the donut was in there. They forgot to return my donut. I went back inside and informed Bernie and he immediately returned with the tech that changed my tire. The tech took me to the back of the facility and the donut was in a dumpster. I was a little surprised. Why would the tech think it was necessary to discard it? Other than that, everything was great. read more
