What an amazing, exquisite, warm and welcoming place! Acqua is so beautiful with a cozy classy ambiance, but at the same time every one of the staff members on May 7th, including Patrick (our waiter), was so helpful, efficient, attentive, warm and friendly. This was a great find for us. We arrived a few minutes before our reservation so we walked over to the beach. Spent a few minutes and then walked back over to be sat at a great table outside. I really liked where we sat as it was in an outdoor pavilion right on the water during sunset. we got calamari as an appetizer, rollatino di pollo and pasta carbonara and entrees, and mango sorbet as dessert which equated to $74 which is not bad for a full meal that was delicious with great atmosphere. the only 2 things that bothered me was it was extremely dark, almost as if they kept lowering the lights on purpose it was hard to see. our server was very kind but not very attentative and it took a great long time for him to come around and check on us and I almost feel its as if its because we are teens and didn't look like theyre usual clientel so he didn't take us very seriously. Nice atmosphere with a predominantly Italian menu, varied with both seafood and meat options. I ordered a pork chop which was too dry to eat and I asked for another moister one . The waiter was told by the chef that it would come back prepared the same way- the sous vide preparation previously used was no longer used as it was too expensive to prepare that way - so they have an item STILL on the menu that should be removed , very disappointing! Specials were overpriced and nothing special. I ended up sharing my sisters pompano which was ok but sides(cauliflower purée) were very sparse (smear) I think $39 is too much for this fish special, but it's palm beach ,after all. read more

Eight of us met at Acqua Cafe last night. We enjoyed dining on their air conditioned terrace. We had Patrick as our server who was excellent and David the manager oversaw every detail. Told they can't guarantee outside but if table is available no problem.Arrive and hostess tries to sit us inside when we can see there are vacant tables outside. Hostess then informs us these are booked. Either you take reservations for outside or you don't. If an outside table is available then sit us.No manager or owner available . Wow! The entire experience was divine. What started as a quick meal before a movie, turned into 4 hours of non-stop delight. The bartender was a gem. She was accommodating and knew just the right amount of conversation. She steered us into the right direction with every move. The wine selection is impressive, eclectic, and affordable. The crab cake was the best crab cake I have ever had in my entire life and my guest agreed. Essentially it lump crab, with a dusting of breadcrumbs along the outside and it is rather large. Phenomenal ! The flavors compliment each other and make the tongue dance in appreciation . The octopus was again best I've ever had . It was grilled to perfection. The texture is firm, yet succulent. The Meyer lemon gel was the best compliment this octopus could have got. Truffle fries were delightful and nice to pick on while we enjoyed our charcuterie board. I will add the bartender knew so much about the charcuterie board. She knew texture of cheese , origin of both meat and cheese, and the enhancements. Very impressive! The lamb was cooked to an absolute perfect medium-rare. I was very impressed because I don't typically like when lamb is too gamey. This lamb was herbaceous in flavor and tender in a melt in your mouth sequence that didn't quit until the last bite! We each had gelato for dessert ! Delicious. Fun flavors. Pistachio, spiced apple. We shared a key lime cheesecake that gives some of the staples in the keys a run for their money. Bravo to Chef Theo (Anthony) I'm a groupie when it comes to the work this chef creates. On a short turn around business trip we decided to stop here (mostly because it was across the street from our hotel). I can't say enough great things about this place. The food was fantastic. We ordered a few things to split (there were 3 of us) and after we had that tried a few more. Patrick the bartender is probably the best bartender I've met in 47 states that I've visited. He can make you a drink with just a few questions that is exactly what you want. I know we were here before the snow birds all came back but man is this place a gem. Come in sit at the bar and tell Patrick what you like and watch a master work. No offense to the chef because the food was soooo good we all ate until we couldn't drink anymore. We've eaten here many times and have been very pleased. Their manager was attentive, server (Patrick) seemed to be there any time we wanted something and fade away when we didn't need him -- perfect. They served little complementary appetizers each time we came. Just a taste of something new. Great touch. The food was consistently very good, and the prices were reasonable. This last time though -- 5 of us on 4/24/21 -- we experienced some negative changes (except for the nice new black/aqua shirts) that we were told came about because of new management. The manager didn't visit any tables while we were there. I think that's been eliminated. The little complementary appetizers they always gave us were gone too. The menu looked the same and so we didn't scrutinize it. We just ordered our favorites. Our server was new, but very nice. The food was good. No complaints there. But we were shocked to find that the price of the wine we drink had been increased from $10/glass to $18/glass. 3 of the 5 of us drank 7 glasses between us - $136. Really? We expressed our disappointment in the outrageous increase and were told that the price was on the menu. They're right, it was -- but who expects that kind of increase over a period of a couple of weeks? Not wanting to affect their business with a negative review, I contacted them through their website once again expressing our disappointment with the changes. So far I haven't heard a word from them. It's too bad. I would have liked to give them another chance if they were in the throes of some kind of change. But their non-response to fairly regular customers is a response in itself, no? I ate at the Aqua Cafe on 05/11/23 - the food was excellent, the service attentive, but not annoying. I had the Caesar Salad which was fresh, crisp and delicious. For the Main Course I had the Cioppino which was loaded with seafood and a delicious broth - served hot. For dessert, I had the Mango Sorbet. Made the order and took the advise of the hostess. Smart hostess! Started out with 3 different salads tried a bit of each. Each was unique and could stand on their own. Appetizers octopus and crap cakes, perfection ! Main courses lamp chops, yeah I know an Italian seafood restaurant, but it was delicious. DO NOT let your child work there. My daughter was given a job there as a hostess and when she asked if she should fill out paperwork the manager Anthony Theocaropoulos told her not to worry as she would be paid in cash (first red flag). After three weeks of asking for money every week and been given the run around she quit. I then contacted Anthony Theocaropoulos and he apologized and said it was an oversight and he said would mail it right out to me to give it to her. After contacting Mr. Theocaropoulos for a month he kept telling me he forgot and it would be in the mail. I have now written a letter to the labor board as it is illegal to pay people in cash or should i say not pay them. I now have my attorney involved and will see Mr. Theocaropoulos in small claims court. Most people that know me it's not about the money but the principal and dishonesty. What a DISASTER !!! I would give NO stars if that was an option. I went with my wife and a few friends to celebrate my wife's birthday. Everything was terrible. The waiter was inexperienced, but at least tried. Nobody knew what wine they had - all we wanted was a bottle of California Chardonay. I chose one from the menu. The waiter offered us a taste. We didn't like it. Then the waiter announces that the sampled Chardonay wasn't the one requested !! So why didn't he say so. The manager was friendly, but didn't know what wine they had. Finally they offered us a bottle of more expensive wine, at the same price. Great. However we ordered a second bottle - after a while the waiter said they had no more, nor did they have any of the original wine offered !! I gave up and said to forget it - we drank water. They tried to pacify us by providing, on the house, fried calamari, which was rock hard. The accompanying tomato sauce was good. Next disaster. The manager, trying to appease us, offered us all a glass of champagne. The waiter arrived with 6 glasses on a tray. After placing 2 or 3 glasses on the table, the waiter dropped the tray behind my mother in law, completely dousing the back of her blouse with champagne and smashing all remaining glasses on the floor. Needless to say, she wasn't a happy camper. The manager didn't even offer to pay for dry cleaning. On to the food. The soup was good. Then it went downhill. We were given 2 different menu's. One had Chilean Sea Bass, the others had Halibut. The waiter couldn't tell us why. Three of us ordered Halibut, medium. We received Chilean Sea Bass - all UNDERCOOKED - and priced higher than the Halibut we ordered. One was so raw, it was sent back, the other two didn't waste their time to send back to re cook. Pretty average taste. One salmon was ordered. The menu showed Atlantic WILD salmon. As everyone knows, only farm raised salmon comes from the Atlantic. The waiter had no idea and the manager gave us some convoluted explanation. Anyway, the salmon was ordered medium, but came mushy and tasteless. We love sushi, but this was half cooked tasteless mush. Another guest ordered a hamburger, medium. It came very well done and tasted of pure salt. After a few bites she gave up. Only one guest was happy - she enjoyed the grilled octopus. We obviously won't be back, which is too bad. The restaurant has a great upbeat look and a small, but interesting menu. If the waiters are better trained and a new chef hired who knows how to cook, maybe the restaurant can be "saved". Bottom line - there are numerous great restaurants within half a mile of this restaurant - go the any one of them them and enjoy great food. read more
