I ride both road and mountain bikes and have been to this shop several times. As far as bikes go, this shop focuses on mountain, gravel, and bmx bikes. They also have a section for skiing and offer ski and boot rental. Every time I have been in, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Most recently I brought my road wheel in to have the tubeless tire replaced. One of the guys jumped on it right away and quickly replaced the old tire with a new one. Would highly recommend this shop! I'm new to the bike world and just wanted to get into it by buying a cheap Walmart bike to try out. Called them to see if they could do a once over on it and make sure it was put together correctly and safely and they were able to squeeze me in same day! Took my board in for a hand wax. Dropped it off Friday and picked it up on Monday. Upon pick up I notice a light gouge on the bottom of the board. When I asked what happened, I was told "well we didn't ride it". I asked if it's possible that it got dinged up in the back and was told no. "People look more closely at their boards after a wax". This light gouge on the bottom of the board was not there when I dropped it off. So to be told "we didn't ride it" and "people look at their boards more closely after a wax" is ridiculous. No ownership was taken and the guy basically made it seem like I'm the crazy one noticing the mark. read more

I found Action Rideshop through a manufacturer's website and they were the only shop in the valley that had the exact model and size of the bike that I was looking for, so I walked in ready to drop six grand on a bike. I checked out the bike that I wanted for five or six minutes and couldn't get the attention of any of the three dudes behind the counter, even though there was only one other customer in the shop. Walked around the accessories section for another five minutes and still nothing... Finally walked towards the counter and as I did two guys walked to the back of the shop and the remaining guy started staring intensely at the computer. Instead of groveling for someone's attention at Action and assuming that this would be the same level of service that I'd receive after the sale, I decided to drive to Scottsdale and buy not quite the bike I wanted, but from a shop where I knew that they'd appreciate my business. read more

I had them retape my rims and one started leaking. I brought it in and while I waited they repaired it at No Charge. Tape fails over time, it could be considered a wear item. They could also tell me to pick it up in 24 hours or worse. But they jumped on it. I owe these guys a pizza for doing business old school. I took some skis I found in a thrift store. For a tune up. The skis bindings were improperly mounted and almost impossible to salvage. The guys at Action RideShop were able to get the bindings properly mounted and tuned to my settings in 30 minutes. The cost was only $15. In the 8 years I have owned my mountain bike, I have had to take it to at least 5 different shops because each one has closed or merged with another store. When I last went to go visit Adventure, I was literally mortified that they had closed but saw a sign on the door stating they had moved to Action. However, upon my initial visit, I was not impressed. I came in to buy a spare tube and it literally took me a long time to find someone to help me. Additionally, when I got to the repair counter to ask for a quote on a tuneup, the technician was on the phone and did not acknowledge me (Not even, "I'll be right with you). A bit of a drive from most parts of the Phoenix area but worth it if you want good prices and great service. I rented a ski rack for an overnight trip to Flagstaff. Even though I picked the rack up the day before my trip and dropped it off the day after I returned, I was only charged for one day's rental fee. Note: be sure to check operating hours with the associates when you pick up your rental. I was told they were open til 7pm on Saturday (even called on the way back into town). Got there at 15mins til and they were already closed. I let management know about this the following day when I returned the rack, but it was a hassle to drive out to Mesa an extra time. read more

I went into the store last Monday to purchase a new snowboard for my son. This will be the first time we purchased a snowboard and gear to go with it. So to say we were basically clueless would be an understatemen. I cannot say enough good things about Lance who was the one that helped up with which snowboard style would work best for my son. He was amazing, patient and incredibly knowledgeable with what my son needed, and what would work best for him and his needs. He gave us options, and was completely honest. He didn't just show us the most expensive options which I appreciated. Lance was so kind and put the bindings on my son's new snowboard for him as well. He also made sure that my son was comfortable in his new gear before we purchased it. We can't say thank you enough to him for all of his help.
