$30 for a Burger and Salad! Need I say more... I feel like I just sold my soul to Active Culture.

Their wholesome bowl is amazing. This place is always busy so at lunch time, I would suggest calling ahead and ordering to go.

I really love this place besides its trendy price tag but it's the only place around to get alternative smoothie with fresh healthy ingredients! That part I do love. Oh, Velvet Yogurt. You keep me coming back for so many reasons. Your unique yogurt flavors (acai) and toppings (mochi, honey). Your little signs asking us to recycle (including one by the city garbage can outside, asking pedestrians to recycle their trash inside!). Your thick wooden tables, chairs, stools, and bar, where I can appease my sweet tooth while watching people run on the treadmills at San Clemente Gym across the street. Really great customer service--exactly the demeanor you would expect from someone who works in a yogurt store: sunny, happy, friendly. This place has some really great choices for yogurt and toppings. The yogurt is very creamy and yum. I like the tart and the strawberry. I have not been to their new location so I can't say much about that. read more

Good portions, great atmosphere, location, and people. Love the fresh veg, but little too biased on the vegan/vegetarian side of dining. They have free range eggs which is awesome but they are only featured on the breakfast bagel. For those that don't like grains/beans/cheese options are very limited. Love the name of the cafe for many reasons, although wish there were some more 'active culture foods' (kimchee, sauerkraut, miso etc) to back it. read more

Eh. I was really excited about this place only to be let down. It was way too hipster. I mean, you can be a health foods restaurant without the pretentious, stuffy air and rude cashier who clearly thinks he is better than everyone. I was also disappointed that though they had some gluten free options, they did not have gluten free granola for the acai bowls :( read more

I'm a believer! Found this spot on Yelp because I needed to meet a vegetarian friend near Dana Point. This place definitely hit the mark. I had the breakfast bowl with a trilogy kombucha and the salted caramel yogurt as my finishing move. I used to come here when I worked in San Clemente because their coconut shake is AMAZING.. wait no, scratch that. Not just amazing.. it was UH-MAZING. Unfortunately, tonight they ran out of their coconut base. Broke my heart... or that could just be the heart burn talking from when I had Pizza Port. But regardless, I still love this place. Decided on the strawberry something-or-other shake. I don't remember exactly what it was called, it had some funky name. Not as good as the coconut shake, but still ok. Very fresh and natural-tasting. I'd rather just come back for what I know I like though. read more

Absolutely one of my favorite places to go to! The only reason why I give it four stars instead of five is because sometimes the fro-yo can be a little frozen and chunky. You defiantly have to know what k's fresh! However, when the mint fro-yo is fresh, it is sooo good!! I love the toppings here as well! I will keep going back here for sure! read more

My first time here. I was looking for a place similar to native foods and this one is much closer to where I live. It is a lot more organic the native foods it doesn't seem like they fry anything. I like that they offer frozen yogurt as well which I will try next time. kind of expensive but the quality is very good! Ingredients are very fresh and the drinks are fresh as well! Great shakes and acai bowls. I really love everything about this place because it's one more healthy option we have when we want to go "out" to eat. my goodness I love mixing their yogurts... I always find the best combination. I don't know if they just have better ingredients, but this is the best yogurt shop in all of San Clemente. Plus, you can recycle their cups if you throw them away inside. Yay! read more

I can't say enough good things about this place! Went in for the first time a few days ago and ordered the lentil burger and the burrito (can't remember the name of it) and was very impressed. The burger had the most amazing flavors, truly delicious. And the burrito was huge with fresh, delicious veggies. Even my meat & potatoes man loved it! The service was friendly and fast. I love this place! Very good sized portions. Everything I've had is so fresh. All their sauces and dressings are flavorful, I love it all! Not to mention their smoothies, their smoothies are amazing!
