First, let me say that the people at the front desk are great - very friendly…read more I was referred here ( now called LEGACY PROSTHETICS) by IEHP because my orthopedic specialist ordered a custom CMC (thumb) orthosis. At my first visit, I was given a prefabricated wrist brace instead of the custom CMC orthosis listed in the referral. When I mentioned it, the technician went to check the order and came back saying, 'Oh, you're right,' and asked me to return on a day when their custom specialist was available. I returned for my 2nd visit today. The prescribed custom CMC brace should have rigid reinforcement (usually a metal stay) to immobilize the thumb joint. What I received was not a custom orthosis at all, but a low-temp plastic wrist splint made in front of me in just a few minutes, with flimsy, detachable Velcro straps and no real structure. For a true custom device, the mold is typically sent to an off-site orthotics lab for proper fabrication - that did not happen here. The material is flimsy, the straps can be easily pulled off the plastic base, and the thumb section doesn't support the CMC joint the way a real custom brace should. It feels more like a temporary ER splint, not durable medical equipment. Per my research, it's a temporary wrist splint - not even close to what the Dr. prescribed. I can't wear it on bare skin without irritation - I was told I had to use an old sock with a hole cut in underneath. I pictured like high school football player. To be fair, the technician was polite and tried to be helpful, but the product itself simply didn't match the referral or my medical needs. I hope this helps other patients who come here expecting a true custom orthosis.

I had an odd experience. Went to Palm Springs office for ankle brace. Picked out style and color…read morefor custom brace. Said it would take 3 weeks. 3 weeks go by and they call to say no brace. Blamed my insurance (which was already pre-approved). Say brace is now on order, but they me what style and color I wanted, and I realized they no brace was on order. They give me a temporary brace which helped. Don't know why I didn't get it on first visit to their office. FINALLY a big heavy leather brace came in. It was so stiff that it rubbed a bloody spot on my shin. And the heal was so bulbous, I couldn't get any shoe over it. It was total waste. I ended up buying a brace off of Amazon that worked better than anything they did for me. Only reason I gave a 2 instead of 1 was that the practioner was very nice. Woman behind desk, not so much. She never made eye contact. I think she was embarrassed by the bad service!

It's tucked into grape street, it's a small but very nice clean building. The doors open automatically or the workers are super aware one or the other because I've never had to struggle with the door. I appreciate that as I'm sure others do as well. They usually have a calm video playing with relaxed music and scenery. I've never seen it anywhere else, it's a nice touch. They have a plug by two chairs if you need to charge your phone while you wait. Random but I thought I'd share that because I've appreciated that. The only reason I've ever had to wait is because I'm usually super early for my appointments. I never know with 78 traffic so I chose to come super early and wait. But each time like clockwork when it's time for my appointment, they call me. So from my experience they are always on time no waiting pass the scheduled time. So very punctual. ALL the workers are beyond amazing. Seriously. Amy at the front desk, the lady and gentleman there with her, so nice and genuine. I look forward to seeing them. The bathroom is inside the office but just ask and they will buzz you in no problem. Clean and plenty of space if you have a walking device. Water in the waiting room, sufficient chairs. Halls are wide and rooms are comfortable size as well. While I've only worked with the lady (she's so amazing! Cares so much for her patients and seeks to find solutions for mobility) both her and the male seem to have great rapport with their patients. She recommended the Richie brace for me and they talked with my insurance and took care of all that. I was casted to get shape n size and then weeks later came to try them out... I can pivot!!!! I've not pivoted with confidence since 2018! It's 2025. It'll take getting use to and stinks to have to wear a brace in summer and I dread having to chose daily sport shoes over flip flops (Spencos are great but my ankles are not so here we are... stinks BUT ligaments stretch out/tear etc and life needs to move on and hanger seeks to help their patients be more able to move on. I just came home in the Richie braces so I'm now day 2... they have you gradually increase your time in them then eventually I'll be full time in them. If there's red places or blisters that start then I'll go back in for an adjustment but other than that I'm off to regain some ground. I couldn't do inclines and turn without pain and damaging my ankles and I've got planter fasciitis in both feet so it is what it is, if you gotta get braces etc I sooooo recommend you check into this facility. They really do care! Sincerely.
