Unfortunately, my experience with this company has been poor. I've never had a bad experience with another vendor of this type over the many years I've needed these products. I wish I had requested the insurance company referred me to a different provider before the first visit. They had no inventory of the type needed on-site. They will only bring very limited items from their San Diego location. They assure you that the poorly fitting items fit and look good, even when they are inappropriate for you, are nowhere close to fitting and look ridiculous. I had called in advance to see whether they could provide a specific model number of one item or at least provide a variety of options of that type. They assured me they could. In fact, they did not bring the model number or any items of that type. Instead, they brought the type I said I could not wear. They looked ridiculous one me and were extremely uncomfortable. They insisted that they fit. I was shocked that they had no idea how to properly measure. Even when I pointed out a basic fact about industry-standard measurement procedures, they brushed off what I said and got a measurement that was about 10% off, enough to make fit impossible. It took three visits and several calls for me to get items that I had to provide the model numbers for. I had never tried those on in my size and was uncertain whether or not they would fit me. The model numbers I provided were appropriate for my condition but didn't fit ideally. I accepted them because the staff at Active Life consistently pushed me to accept improper items that absolutely did not fit even close to a normal fit. Their reasoning was that the inappropriate items were cheaper. I settled. Beyond the inability of Active Life to provide a reasonable selection of appropriate items to try and the inability to measure for fit using industry-standard methods, I found other practices disturbing. First, they lied to me about which product they were bringing the second time. I'd provided a specific model number that was appropriate since they had not provided models appropriate for my specific condition. At first, they would not confirm that they would bring those models and had them in stock. After several queries, the "supervisor" Rosa claimed they would have those models at my second appointment. I came, but they did not have those models but rather a bargain-basement model that was of a type that I could not use. They wasted my time and disrespected me as a patient. Second, their solution to their own failure to provide the model number they promised to provide was to have me send it to them in an email, a clear violation of the HIPPA privacy laws. I felt I had no choice but to do so because of their unwillingness to provide appropriate options for my specific condition and body shape. Third, their attitudes of resentment at being expected to provide industry-standard service, appropriate products for my condition and body shape and size, and honest, HIPPA-compliant communication was shocking. Again, I have never ever encountered any company of this type who in any of these ways failed to meet minimum standards. My only complaint about any previous company was that some, but not all, tend to have out of date inventory. However, they will provide more up-to-date items if asked. They don't lie and try to force you to take things that don't fit. I would have asked the insurance company to assign a different company if they had honestly told me they would not provide what I needed. If I'd also known they lacked the professional skill and ethics to follow industry-standard methods and behave with professionalism, I'd have switched before starting. Honesty, respect for the HIPPA laws, professional skill, commitment to minimum standards of fit and quality, and basic respect for how what they do and how they behave affects the quality of life of each patient are non-negotiable for a company of this type. I asked for a conference call with the insurance company. I factually explained how Active Life actions did not meet industry standards, the Active Life supervisor said to me, "That's YOUR opinion!" She had offered no apologies whatsoever and promoted an attitude of disrespect toward me with the fitter. I wonder how they'd feel if they needed these products and were pressured to use inappropriate products. While initially thought this was a training problem with the fitter, I now realize it's a bigger issue with greed, providing the cheapest products---EVEN IF THEY ARE NOT APPROPRIATE FOR THE SPECIFIC CONDITION AND SIZE OF THE PATIENT. I gave the fitter one last chance to make this right. When I finally was able to try on a product that was made for my condition, it didn't properly fit. I accepted it but told her how it didn't fit. She showed no interest in looking for a product that fits and ushered me out the door. Worst experience ever with a company of this type. read more

Well Active Life Murrieta, you just lost a potential client--patient. My podiatrist Dr Greene referred me to you for diabetic shoes and inserts. I've been trying to get an appt for over two months now and all I keep getting is the runaround from Dani! First it's she needs my info from my dr, Medicare + supplement approval and so on and so forth... After two calls and talking to Dani and no word after about two weeks I called back and she told me she was still waiting on all the info and approvals and that it takes time. Ok so another two-three weeks go by and still nothing!! So I called again and she now tells me she hasn't heard back from my doctors and that it was up to ME to followup with them!! Now this is a lie because I was never informed of this and, in my opinion and experience, it should be her job to followup. She tells me she has a lot of patients and doesn't have the time to followup on all. I was very understanding and said I understand but you still never told me I was to do this!!! She proceeds to argue with me so I hung up. It's obvious she dropped the ball and didn't followup and was now trying to put it on me!! She has no idea what she's doing and shouldn't be in this job! Patients need to get in asap not three months after they first call! This is ridiculous and unacceptable. Good customer service is a priority with me so I will be taking my business elsewhere. Makes me wonder how long those other so-called potential patients have been waiting too. Not good business practices for sure! And PS my husband worked at the original Active Life in Glendale many years ago and this would have been totally unacceptable! Plus it was the office's job to obtain the insurance info - just as it is in any other medical office I've been to!! Nope, not giving you my business. Followup to my review: I called another company after posting my review and the lovely lady made an appt for me immediately - for 1 1/2 weeks!!! She also took down my insurance info and told me she can login to the Medicare database to obtain all the info she needs! (Duh) I called my podiatrist office to have them fax over the prescription and this lady said she would even followup on it! Again, Dani has no idea what she is doing nor has any desire to know!! I must say we had some measuring issues in the beginning and unfortunately my FIL ended up loosing his second leg before we had a chance to learn to walk on one prosthesis, so there was a challenge now we had to learn how to do it with both prosthesis. My father-in-law ended up being admitted to Ballard acute inpatient hospital which specializes in physical therapy. Mike went out of his way and met with the physical therapist there to help my father-in-law get up on both legs and walk again. He was in a wheelchair for nine months and at first we weren't sure that he would be able to walk his 72-year-old Vietnam veteran. Ballard was able to get him up and walking with the assistance of Mike. Mike would go there after he was at the Redlands clinic and get the measurements from the physical therapist and working with them closely we were able to get him to prosthetic legs and now he can walk with assistance. Mike at Active Life doesn't communicate, he lies. Mike asked, "where is the pain." I put my fingers behind the back of my leg and said, "the pain is right here." Mike said, "the pain is in the front." Mike being the prosthetic expert, I the patient, Ok what do I know, I kept my mouth shut. I got a verbal wear schedule for my amputated leg the first of April. Mike said, "wear your prosthesis 1 hour today, 3 hours tomorrow." Now on 7/2/2020, Mike said, "on day 3 add an hour and on day 4 add ....." Mike never said anything about day 3 or day 4 in April. Today on 7/2/2020, I said to Mike, "you must of been talking to another patient." When I got my prosthesis the first of April, Mike said, "come back in a month, I will cover up (I would call it the ankle on the prosthetic). Mike covered it up with this hard mesh, masking tape and electrical tape. Mike never mentioned that you could just leave the prosthetic alone or cover it up with this foam piece. No communication. If you want to file a grievance with Active Life, you call the East Los Angeles office, speak to Lorena, she is a customer service rep, not a clinician. She is not interested in your grievance, she just wants to get your questions answered. Spoke to her in May and today, 7/2/2020, she said, "you get physical therapy and a wear schedule from your doctor, it is not Mike's job to tell you to get physical therapy or to get a wear schedule." I said, "this is my first amputation (hopefully my only amputation) how am I suppose to automatically know this." On 7/2/2020 spoke to Rosie at Active Life in Temecula, she said, "Mike will mail a wear schedule to your home address." Asked Rosie, "why didn't Mike give me a wear schedule in April when I got my prosthesis?" Received no answer. Lorena and Rosie make up the answers as they go along. Active Life's headquarters are at the Glendale office. On 7/1/2020, called asked to speak to a Manager or Supervisor, was told will be in the office next week, no Assistant Manager or Supervisor. They do not have a headquarters, corporate or main office. You can't get pass the receptionist, no Manager or Assistant Manager available. On 7/2/2020, called Lorena at East Los Angeles office was transferred to the Redlands office. I wonder how Mike is with his other patients? I hate people that lie. Mike said, "you have called every employee at Active Life and yelled and sweared at them, you have a sore, stop using your prosthesis, make an appointment so we can get ....... (Dr. Yeh said, "you need a new prosthesis"), move forward, we can discuss these issues when you come in, I told you, "you need to trust me." I said, "I have not called every Active Life location yet." It's not a sore it is a wound. I told Mike, "when my limb was bleeding that day in May, I called you and I stopped wearing my prosthesis." Mike is not going to follow Dr.Yeh's orders. I told Mike, "I can't move forward, you call Dr.Yeh and tell her that I do not want to go back to Active Life." I told Mike, "I don't believe you when you say we will discuss these issues." I told Mike, "You are a stranger, I don't know you, how can I trust you?" No customer service, no care, no communication. Employees/staff lie, THEY LIE. I received no written wear schedule, only a verbal, 1 hour today, 3 hours tomorrow. Mike swears that he told me about day 3 and day 4. Lorena who works in a different office said, "possibly he told you, he was not detailed enough, that you misunderstood, miss communication." Lorena did not speak to Mike, she makes it up as she goes along. Two Active Life employees give two different answers to the same question about a wear schedule. I did not even know it was called a wear schedule until I spoke to Lorena today on 7/2/2020. I hate writing reviews, I always leave something out or can't explain it good enough. I could not have been more pleased with this Active Life location. The staff was very pleasant. Mike contacted me immediately when I sent an e-mail to corporate regarding my bad experience in Riverside and that I didn't care if I had to travel to Temecula to get service that was covered under my insurance. He immediately contacted me and also got an appointment scheduled for me within two days. He was awesome and made things happen for me. I had a masectomy back on 7/26/2018 and I have been without a bra all this time. I went to the Riverside office back in October and had a terrible experience and it took me all this time to write a note to someone and ask to go to another one of your facilities. Mike, Donna and Marisol were fantastic. Even though I had to travel from Moreno Valley to Temecula and I have to return to get the correct bras because they weren't available, I would do it again in a heartbeat. This facility is excellent and the staff is exceptional. Hats off to the employees who make you feel like you are a human being who they actually care about. Looking forward to returning to their facility for my final fitting and bras and again when I need replacements. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You definitely made my day and start of the New Year 2019. read more
