I told her on the right side just move the ear portion at the tip up slightly. Hello, I had a disappointing experience during my first…read morevisit as an independent adult, and haven't been in years . At check-in, I gave my insurance details (I'm double-covered). The blonde woman at the front desk asked me to sign for an Optima eye exam without clearly explaining that it was optional, and I felt pressured because they highlighted their latest equipment, and I assumed it was standard. Five days later, I learned from a family member that my deductible/copay had already been met, so I shouldn't have owed anything. When I called to inquire, another staff member told me that "a copay and deductible are separate," which came across as dismissive and made me feel foolish for asking. In reality, once the deductible is met, additional copays for covered services shouldn't apply in this way. The lack of clear communication about the optional nature of the exam and the billing left a bad taste. If patients are going to be made to feel uninformed or stupid when they question charges, I won't be returning. P.S. As a 19-year-old, I also found it strange to be recommended (and charged for) this extra exam when I've had no prior eye issues. It left me wondering why it was pushed so strongly at my age.

The removal caused permanent hearing loss and facial paralysis. The facial paralysis caused horrible eye pain. So much so most nights she cried. We have Kaiser insurance and those that do understand the lack of care. My wife kept waiting for an appointment to see an eye surgeon. Waiting and waiting and waiting. Nothing. Then one day I had enough. I researched Bakersfield for an eye surgeon who specialized in the treatment she needed. I am overjoyed that I found Bakersfield eye. I walked in without an appointment, asked for an administrator and from that conversation my wife's tears dried up. What Kaiser couldn't/wouldn't do in 5 months Bakersfield eye solved in three weeks. Compassionate professional care plus real people honesty. Can't thank them enough.
