Adam Auto works is a solid, family owned business that predominantly does car maintenance, inspections, and other service. I was recommended by family. Went for a routine (synthetic) oil change. I also had minor car trouble, steering wheel shaking as I drove fast, and wanted to confirm the cause. Parked in lot and presented car keys at the front desk. I chose to wait in, maybe I should not. It took a long time because it was weekend and they had a lineup of customers and cars already in line. After close to 2 hours the synthetic oil change was done. Before that, repair man called me in to garage where my car was hoisted up, and he confirmed that nothing else is wrong with my car, but he peeled back tires and could see the inside was scratched up. It's a cheating auto services I've experience. 2 years ago, I went for state inspection, they told me my tail light wasn't workin. So, I let them change it. The following year, the same problem happened again. I was doubtful about it, I knew something not honest was happening but I still let them fix it, just to get it out of the way. Last week, I went to get my state inspection check again. The reason why I went to that place even though I'm not comfortable regarding honesty, but it usually takes about 1 hour for the service to finish. Anyway, coming back to the story, I changed my car wiper blades right before I went for inspection, however, they told me one of my wiper blades needs replacement, my tail light is not working again, and one of my tires needs replacement. You know what they did, someone pulled part of the blade off of the wiper, it looks like it broken. I can keep writing my experience, but to sum up, this place, Adam Auto Shop, is not an honest place for anyone to go. I've been going here for years, and I refuse to go anywhere else except for an alignment which they don't do. They have saved me thousands of dollars from doing unnecessary work. Where other mechanics have told me things are broken, need replacement etc, I would bring it to Adams and several mechanics would take a look and show me its not broken/needs replacement. I called last week on Thursday and talk to Malik at this shop for my car work. He said that they are busy Thurs and Friday. He said you can come on Monday morning and they would take care for us. I could not go on Monday and sent my wife there was a lady on the shop which was very rude, even in front of other customers too and said we do not have time today for your car. She pretty much insulted my wife and while my daughter was with her. She was on and on. This lady does not have any customer service skills, I would not go there ever for car repair work. read more

Recommend to them , fixed my car so they said but told them before you repair anything contact me first they did not now charging me over five hundred dollars. Told me after 1 week my car had been there for a month. Sounds like they are trying to get as much money they can and rip people off. read more

This place is just the best. The woman who sold me her car also recommended this shop to me. Every time I have any problems I come here (unless the distance prevents me - I live in Centreville and go out of my way to come here). the 1998 VW Beetle had a window that perpetually got stuck in the down position (fellow VW owners will probably know what I'm talking about). the part was expensive to replace since the car was pretty old (and a VW). When it broke down a few months later, they replaced it without charge. They have the cheapest oil change too. I've never trusted a mechanic in my life except for these guys. They do get really busy on Saturdays, so come early on the weekdays if possible. read more

This is the most TRASH service I have EVER received and I will be going into detail as to why. I went in to have a lightbulb changed and have my horn checked on a Saturday morning. The front desk lady (she is the only woman working in the shop and is always the one providing their "customer service") told me that it would take much longer to figure out what was wrong with my car horn and that I needed to drop my car off to be checked for Tuesday. Since they close at 6, i had to drop off my car in the lot and put the keys in the drop box, where i wrote all of my information and phone number. My coworker picked me up for work the following day. The shop opens up at 9am and by 10am, I decided to call because no one had called me. The front desk woman proceeded to tell me that she would make sure to call me by noon with the diagnosis and price. At 2:30pm, I called again as I had not received a call and she, again, told me she still does not know and will call me within an hour. By 5pm, I was extremely frustrated as she had STILL not called me and I had emphasized that 1. I need my car back by that night if they needed to order a part and 2. I NEEDED to know the price. At 5pm, I made another call and a man answered the phone and told me that the car was already finished and that it would cost me $150. I was furious and asked him why I was never informed and why it was done without a call. He then told me that the woman at the front desk was the one that informed him and that she had left for the day. I didn't want to cause a scene at work and told him that I would speak to him when I got there and that I would be there by 6pm (the scheduled business closing time). He told me that they leave at 5:45pm but that he would stay for me; this makes no sense since I am the paying customer and those were their scheduled hours, but I did not say much since I wanted to discuss this further in person. Five minutes after the phone call ended, I received more than 5 calls in a row from a number who claimed to be the front desk woman demanding that I call her back. When I heard her voicemail, I decided to leave work early because I already knew she was going to give me trouble. I mean how RUDE to call someone persistently when they don't answer and from her personal phone, how unprofessional! When I was on my way there, I called her and she instantly started yelling at me and telling me that she did me a favor by taking my car and that I have no right to complain....WHAT!? She told me I HAD to listen to her before I could speak and without any trouble, I literally let her speak. She went on and on about how she called me and I didn't pick up so she went ahead and did it. I told her she was wrong, that she could've left me a voicemail and waited until I called back. She insisted that I was wrong and at that point, I decided that this was of no use! This woman was being ridiculous and there was no way of getting through to her. So I told her that it was done and I would pay her when I came to pick the car up since it was already finished anyways, but proceeded to tell her that what she did was inappropriate, unprofessional, and that I'll be there before closing to pick my car up; but that's when she lost it. She literally flipped a switch and told me that I needed to be there by 5:30pm because that is when the shop closes or I would not get my car. When I tried to say anything, she continued to NOT let me say anything and then that's when I started yelling at her too. I mean, are you SERIOUS?! The guy on the phone TOLD ME he would be there until 6pm AND those are THE SCHEDULED BUSINESS HOURS POSTED FOR HER SHOP, but she INSISTED that that is not HER policy. I told her to take my card information to process the payment and leave the car outside with the keys seeing as I would literally be there by 6pm. She refused, told me that she would take the part out of my car because she is not "money hungry." I'm sorry lady, but you clearly are not only money hungry, but you have other issues too. When I got to the lot, this woman was with her husband and child in the car and told me that my car was there with the keys in it and that the part was removed from the car. She and her husband cursed at me and drove off with their child in the car. I'm being completely honest in this review and absolutely don't deny that I was rude back to this woman, but it was ONLY and ONLY after she treated me with the utmost disrespect and in the most unprofessional manner. This is the WORST service EVER and they are completely biased on who they want to provide with good customer service. The reviews speak for themselves on that! My only mistake was not involving the police on my way to pick up my car because this could've been a much more dangerous situation. read more

I've been to Adam Auto works for multiple minor issues. The owner Jamil is a friendly and very honest about the work needs to be done. He would tell you options to get parts and he would replace it for you. He is busy in the weekend and getting parking is a problem. So you would avoid the waiting time by either call him in advance or go in the weekdays. I have to tell you that oil change is not cheapest but for everything else you could definitely go there. read more

A friend of mine send me there after I complain about the rip off from "Virginia Tires" of Sterling. The labor cost is the lowest and he order parts from the cheapest source as well so you get a good deal. Every time I was there( I have 4 cars on my house hold) he was busy sign that peoples like his work ethic and price. If you go for an oil change and the mechanic see something wrong they will let you know but they never use scare tactic to make you replace parts if not need it. Believe it or not some time they do little fixes for free for you! I prefer to wait for an oil change or inspection to give the business to them rather than be first on line to bigger business that rip me off when in need for a repair. Unfortunately, I had the experience of going to this shop. It was one of the worst customer service experiences that I encountered for the past 15 years. I don't recommend and warn people to go to this place. The owner was not upfront with the disclaimers and blamed the provided parts for the issue that was brought up without even examining the issue beforehand. All he had to do was to listen and examine before any responds to my concern. What makes it even worse is the way he handled the criticism. I came to this shop for safety inspection because it is close to my work place.It turned out to be a BIG mistake. I was told it would take about 30 minutes.
