The location is great. It's right in the heart of midtown near many other businesses, restaurants, and establishments. There are 60 free parking spots available and has an optional paid parking lot ($5) right next to the restaurant. There is also paid street parking available. It reminds me of a hole in the wall. The restroom is average looking so for those of who you care, reference my picture. It does not have the most luxurious interior if you are looking for a 5 star Il Fornaio type restaurant. The hype on this restaurant is through the roof! From Reddit to word of mouth, everyone talks about how this is the standard for Italian food in Sac. So you already know I had to come here and try this place out and leave one of my in depth reviews. The service was alright. The wait was almost an hour for our food! Our server was also a bit busy to check up on us regularly. I understand that they were very busy when we showed up (6PM), we were in a larger party, and they were short staffed. Also that the pasta is made in house which might take some more time. Just for the wait I had to remove a star but truthfully, the flavor out paces the wait. If I could leave a 4.5 star review I would. Just something to note if you are terribly hungry and don't want to wait too long. This food here is amazing. Authentic Italian for sure. The flavor of the house salad was delicious. It had fresh greens that weren't too crunchy and also not too soft. The bread was packed with flavor and crunchy. The bolognese pasta was fantastic. I don't think I've had a pasta that has more flavor, they made it with love. The chicken pesto sandwich...BANGERRR. It was literally the best sandwich I have ever had. I'm a huge pesto lover and it the flavor was so overpowering, I fell in love with the dish. It's like that ratatouille scene where it takes you back in time to where you were a kid. The prices are a bit steep. Don't expect to walk out of here for under $45 for a meal for two making this a ($$$) for me. The portions are on the smaller side. You will likely still be hungry after you finish your plate, might even have to order 2 meals or an appetizer. The flavor of the meal far surpasses the portions and price. Tried this spot while visiting a couple friends who live in the area. It looks pretty divey on the outside, but is nice on the inside. We went with the following: Bruschetta - there were two slices with each of the four spreads/toppings. I thought they were all tasty but the cheese and the onion ones were my favorite. My friend liked the pesto the best. My other friend said they would be good. All smashed together on one piece of bread lol Arancini - these are okay. They were too overwhelmingly seasoned with something that tasted more Mexican than Italian. I would not get them again . Bolognese - The pasta itself was a perfect thickness and tenderness and the sauce was extremely Hardy and well seasoned Meatballs and polenta - I didn't try the polenta but the meatballs were okay. They're not very dense but not very soft either. But they definitely have something in them that tasted more Asian? We think maybe fish sauce? Carbonara - I didn't try this but it looks good and my friend had no complaints Olive oil cake - I've never had olive oil cake before so I have no idea if this is a good one or not. It tasted fresh and very moist. The cream was supposed to be strawberry flavored but I didn't really taste any of that. This restaurant is deceiving! From the outside, you think it that might be a simple looking, slightly shady restaurant in a shady-ish area of town. When you enter, it transforms into a chic, cosmopolitan little space that looks very inviting. I would recommend getting a reservation especially if you are a bigger group because they were busy on a Friday night! Thankfully, we could get seated at the bar. The menu is well-thought out. It isn't extensive, but we liked that they offer some classics and some of their own culinary fusions. We think they are attempting to create their name in the Italian cuisine industry here in Sac, as they seem to have updated menu items, they serve wines from their family vineyards in Italy and are also promoting pasta making classes. I love that! Ok, onto the wine and food. I ordered their classic white, which was 50% Chardonnay and 50% blend and my husband ordered their classic red, which was a red blend. I don't know which component of my white was buttery, but the wine wasn't as crisp as I was hoping for. The red blend was better. Food wise, they did a good job overall. We ordered their stuffed cherry peppers as an appetizer, the gnocchi, and the four cheese ravioli. The stuffed cherry peppers were simple, elegant and delicious! The plate was a few cherry peppers stuffed with goat cheese served on a bed arugula with a drizzle of an excellent balsamic vinaigrette with some black pepper. The simplicity of the components made this plate even more delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed it! Highly recommend ordering this appetizer. Onto the pastas: the gnocchi was excellent - light, melting in the mouth with ample amount of delicious sauce. This is one of the best gnocchi plates my husband has had, and he is particular about his gnocchi! The garlic bread was a tad disappointing because it could have done with a more butter and garlic. It felt a little dry and didn't taste like fresh bread. Dipping it in the gnocchi sauce helped, but I would've liked better bread. The four cheese ravioli took some bites for me to like it. My main issue with it was that I thought the ravioli was slightly undercooked but my husband felt it was ok. The pastas are all handmade so we commend them on making the ravioli but maybe we needed to boil it for a couple more minutes? The sauce for the ravioli was very good - spicy thanks to the peppers, lots of pine nuts and spinach. The cheese inside the ravioli was decent, but just that - cheese, no additional flavors there. I had the same complaint about the garlic bread not being buttered/garlicky enough. I think this dish is almost there but needs a few tweaks. For dessert, we got the tiramisu. The look of it was disappointing because it was not made as a big portion but constructed in a jar. The look was aesthetically pleasing for a flair but this meant that the dessert didn't come together like a normal tiramisu does. It was also overtly sweet. The color was quite pale. We would've liked more coffee. We've definitely had better tiramisu desserts before. I think this is a great restaurant. Their service is fast, the servers are friendly and once inside, you forget how the outside is! They have some cool decor like the wall of $2 bills. Their food is definitely hitting the mark for the most part, but they need a few tweaks here and there. A few weeks ago, we went to Paesanos where we had a great experience. Between the two, Paesanos leads currently because of their garlic bread and the tiramisu but I think Adamo's has a higher quality of pasta. We will be back to try more of your menu! read more

Amazing Italian food and a great choice to stop by if you're in the area. Adamo's is a small restaurant so they do fill up quickly especially during peak hours. I recommend making a reservation during the weekend like we did. I'll get to what we had quickly because that's what you're here for. :) Summer Arancini - 7/10 this had a Mexican flair which was unexpected in an Italian restaurant. The flavors reminded me of enchiladas with red sauce and the aioli was cilantro lime which was good but again unexpected. Peach Salad - 10/10 refreshing and light. Perfect for summer with all the fruit, tangy goat cheese, and crunchy candied pecans. Bruschetta - 6/10 this came with 4 different kinds and we all only enjoyed the Chèvre + Jam. Caramelized Onion, Basil Pesto, and Divana Tomatoes all didn't taste like it had much of a flavor profile and absolutely needed some seasoning. Four Cheese Ravioli - 7/10 good however I think I would've much rather enjoyed a creamy white sauce pasta. Loved the ravioli just not a huge fan of the Calabrian chili. It had a good kick yet just wasn't a winning dish for me. Carbonara - 10/10 simplicity at its finest and will always be a winner in my book. Creamy, filling, and a nice meaty taste & bite with the Applewood Smoked Bacon. Salmon Piccata - 9/10 when they mention LEMON they mean lemon. I liked it but our friend said it was a bit much for her. The lemon flavor was very present and not overpowering where it made it tart. I loved how this was served with salmon vs chicken. I was looking up best places to get pasta in the Sacramento area to carb up for CIM. Adamo's is on every page, so I knew I had to come. And it didn't disappoint. We were the second party in line around 4:45PM, and the couple ahead of us immediately confirmed we made the right decision to forego the other pasta place we had in mind. Its definitely a neighborhood friendly joint. You get seated at the bar if you have no reservation, and apparently reservations are near impossible to get. I liked how many generations have been involved with this restaurant as I love supporting family friendly places. I hit a PR for CIM and I'll credit it all to Adamo's. We don't go for Italian very often, but the weather lately has been perfect for it, and we were very tempted by a recent photo and video spread from our buddy Alex T. on his recent visit to Adamo's. Last week we came in for dinner and had a wonderful evening. Everything was fantastic and top tier. My honey made us a reservation for 7, and this worked out well because the space is on the smaller side and it was busy on a weeknight. We were showed to our bench seat right away, and throughout the visit I felt that the service was attentive for the most part. One dish was cleared before we were finished with it, that's my only quibble. It was done so quickly I wasn't able to say anything in time without raising my voice, which I was not going to do, thank you. I'm sure it was an accident ...but it felt awkward. I ordered the vegetarian winter mushroom gnocchi (one of the only ways to get me to eat squash) and we ordered the bruschetta medley to share. Both were perfect. Dinner entrees come with fresh garlic bread and a side house salad (yay pickled onions!). I loved the different bruschetta, especially the fresh tomato and caramelized onion versions. I don't think I've ever had better gnocchi in my life. We each had a glass of red as well. My Sangiovese went well with what I ordered, and the pours were generous. All in all, this is a solid date night spot, and the food tastes like it should cost twice as much in my opinion. I would definitely come back to try some of the other pasta offerings. Bolognese pasta and carbonara pastas were ordered. My party of two arrived on a Monday evening, and it was quite crowded. We were seated at the bar. Service was incredibly mean and unfriendly. There was one server in particular who sat us, but didn't greet us or even look at us in the face. She also didn't check on us throughout the meal and provided very little welcome. this was a takeout experience. Order ahead was easy as pie. We didn't have a reservation, and we were not sure about big group dining so we ordered takeout as a result to avoid challenges. However, it appears that they can accommodate larger parties with relative ease. There is a paid parking lot adjacent the restaurant and street parking as well. The ambiance inside appeared cozy and intimate setting. The food took about 10 minutes longer than requested to be ready, but it was not a big deal. We ordered the caesar salad and realized there was absolutely no dressing. We were so disappointed because we ordered it for their "house anchovy dressing". House salad - they pre-packed these with their dressing. They were stored in the fridge altogether so the olive oil solidify in the cold as a result. This took some time to thaw and soften. TBH, I didn't even add the dressing. The onions and pepper were pickled and added flavors to the salad. Risotto - this was delicious and well executed. the grains are al dente. the flavor is rich and creamy. Gnocchi - the current menu's versions is light and spicy, the ricotta goes so well with it! This cozy little family owned Italian restaurant nestled in the heart of midtown is serving up some of the freshest homemade pasta in the area. I came in with high expectations and they didn't disappoint. As you walk in, you get a little vibe of Italy with giant pictures of different t places in Italy and the smell of fresh mozzarella and pasta flowing throughout. Really lovely restaurant that has an authentic Italian feel. The service was friendly and quick but the food is the real win here. We got the octopus and it was so tender and melt in your mouth. I ordered the vegetarian panini and it had so much flavor with a delicious crunchy bread. My partner got the chicken Alfredo and the pasta was homemade and al dente. We had a reservation here for our Anniversary on a Thursday evening we were seated quickly and the service was good. We ordered the Arancini which lacked flavor I felt like I had to put the whole salt and pepper shaker on it to eat it. However it was crispy and the Rosita was cooked well I just which it had more depth. Would NOT recommend. The house salad that came with our entrees was delicious but I felt like I was fighting my fork to get it in my mouth. The tomatoes were delicious though. I ordered the Salmon piccata which was well seasoned and very lemony. The fish was cooked a great. My partner order the bolognese which was pretty good. Adamo's Kitchen is located on P St near 21st St. Thankfully, they take reservations because this neighborhood restaurant gets packed on evenings! Not only do they make fantastic pasta dishes, they offer pasta classes!! There is a small parking lot on the East side of the restaurant but you might need to circle around the block to find street parking. There is a large communal table, a bunch of smaller tables, and counter seating which I personally think are the best seats in the house because you can feel the energy with the bustling waitstaff and boisterous patrons. I've dined at Adamo's a handful of times. They simply make divine gnocchi and pappardelle. At our most recent visit, we had their Bolognase (pappardelle, beef, mirepoix, San Marzano tomatoes) and Beef Rib (1855 Black Angus beef rib over mashed potatoes with red cabbage slaw and sautéed leaks). The Bolognase dish was outstanding - balanced flavors and perfectly al dente pappardelle. The Beef rib was fall-off-the-bone tender and absolutely delicious but quite oily because it was so fatty (which isn't really bad thing because it's partially why it was so delicious). We already have a reservation booked to visit again. This time, we're dining earlier so they (hopefully) won't run out of desserts like they did at our last visit. Last but not least, their Ceasar salads are also excellent! We substituted their side salads for a slight upcharge because it's worth it! read more

When I want pasta this is where I want to be. This was our second time here. We started with the sweet stuffed peppers. She had the pasta Bolognese. I had the Spaghetti carbonara. We loved our meal here. I tasted the Bolongnes. It was really good. The carbonara was wonderful in a rich garlicky cream sauce. The spaghetti was perfectly al dente and the sauce was amazing. It was quite rich but very garlicky. I had a glass of Sangiovese that paired perfectly. We shared the lemon cake with strawberry cream. I don't remember what the cake was called, but it was made with olive oil. Sometimes cake can be dry. This was perfect. Moist and flavorful. Made reservations here for the day before valentines and was seated promptly. Small inside, cozy, possibly a little warmer than anticipated. Risotto was decent, but it felt a little flavorless. I salted it but it still felt hollow. I thought the risotto would be more wet. The carbonara was okay, but very saucy. The garlic bread was good with a crunch and I like the texture of the noodles. I've had similar carbonara, but didn't feel like something to write home about. I thought this place would be much more than what it was, so just temper your expectations and it'll be fine. Food was tasty, but almost looked as though they juat quickly threw in the food without careful packing. All the toppings were everywhere, splattered. There were beautiful vases on the top windows of the front of the building that we talked to owners about. Everything was done in a timely manner. We were greeted and checked on multiple times. We both added some salt and pepper to our salads to taste but it was a beautifully simple house salad. The pickles onions and aged tomatoes were a flavorful touch. I asked the server what wine would be recommended with the salmon piccata and it paired beautifully. I tried my boyfriend's bolognese pasta and it was delicious but could have used a little salt personally it I range on the saltier scale. The salmon piccata was beautifully lemony but I can understand why others might feel like it's overpowering but personally paired with the salmon and wine it was perfect. I'll admit portion sizes weren't that big but the meal was delicious regardless. The cannoli was yummy. It seemed like a slightly lemon filling with a very rich chocolate filling with that was great to me but my partner didn't quite enjoy the chocolate part as much. The pastry was deliciously crunchy and fresh. Overall I would definitely visit again. 7/25 They have been on my radar for a while now. My friends and I had reservations to come back in I think March or April of this year but the morning of the reservation we got a call saying that some equipment was out and the kitchen was shut down. Fast forward a few months later and here we are. We came for sort of an early Bday dinner for someone in our group. It's nice that there's some street parking around the restaurant but right next to them there is also a decently sized paid parking lot. Anyways we started off with the arancini and some wine before placing our entree orders. I enjoyed their red blend recommended by our server. The arancini had a nice crunch and had pretty good flavor. Where I think things kind of dropped off, at least for me, were the entrees. I had ordered the gnocchi verdi with a brown butter sage sauce with pancetta, green onions, fried sage, parmigiano and I had added chicken. I've only had pasta with a brown butter sage sauce 1 other time before this so I don't have much to compare to. What came out was a generous portion of gnocchi with a good amount of chicken and pancetta as well. What I quickly noticed however was a pasta sauce that, at least to my eye, appeared broken or separated. It was like eating nice pillowy gnocchi that unfortunately were swimming in an oily sauce. Is that what brown butter sage sauces supposed to be like? The previous one that I had tried was creamy, buttery and flavorful, which theirs was not. Overall it was a pretty salty dish. I liked that it came with a piece of bread but when it comes to bread I like them either served warm/hot. Theirs was served cold on one side and crispy on the other. Was it supposed to be like that? I'm not sure but either way I didn't prefer it. Their strawberry cake (don't remember the exact name) was nothing to write home about. I can say that I had at least appreciated the portion size. Some things to keep in mind. It was pretty loud in there so I wouldn't call it a very intimate spot. They recommend on their website to make reservations especially for the weekend. This time we couldn't get reservations but luckily we were able to walk in and snag a spot at their community table. My husband was craving Italian and had never been to Adamo's so we decided it was time for a date night! We parked on the street around the corner and stopped in right before 7pm on a Friday night. We didn't have a reservation, but we were able to get a spot at the bar right away. The restaurant is pretty small and best for groups of 1-4 people, but with a reservation they could potentially accommodate slightly larger groups. The team here was so nice! From the moment we arrived until we left we felt taken care of and that they cared about our experience. We received cups of water right away and they checked in on us multiple times to see when we were ready to order. The menu is limited, but has seasonal items and it's all fresh. I had a really hard time deciding and asked our server for recommendations. We ordered the 3 Arancini ($16) as a started to share. The texture was great, but we both felt like the arancini could have been seasoned a bit more. It definitely needed the marinara sauce that it came in. It was cheesy and a great starter, especially doused in the marinara. I ended up going with the Four Cheese Ravioli ($26). It is described as calabrian chili and garlic oil, basil pesto and pine nuts with cheese ravioli. It was much more flavorful than I expected and the little flame next to it on the menu is no joke. It had some spice. I loved it! The portion was also a good size. My husband is an alfredo or butter based sauce kind of guy and was a little disappointed that there weren't more items that spoke to him. He ended up ordering the Chicken Alfredo ($27). This has pappardelle, Mary's chicken breast and parmesan cream. He said the chicken was delicious but was a bit underwhelmed by the sauce. I had a bite and it was a big contrast from my super flavorful four cheese ravioli dish. Our meals also came with a side salad which I loved. It's nice to have something fresh and crunchy along with the indulgent pasta. We each also enjoyed some Oktoberfest beers and the small restaurant makes you feel like you're enjoying a hidden gem, even though it's a well known gem. I would suggest checking out the menu before coming to make sure everyone in your party will find something exciting to them and making a reservation ahead of time if you can. They also offer pasta making classes which is so cool! They definitely know what they're doing so it's a great opportunity to learn from the experts. read more

The food is outstanding! My husband always gets the bolognese and loves it. I got the salmon picatta last time and it was also delicious.

Jon was a pleasure and a great cooking instructor - our group had so much fun with him and then got to enjoy our homemade pasta, along with salad, wine and dessert. Wow! One of the best Italian meals I've had in Sac! We came on a Wednesday night and it was packed, with a waitlist. We almost didn't stay but I'm so glad we did. We started with the Aracini, which was very good. The flavors are very mellow. We then got served the house salad that comes with the pasta, which was also good. The sundried tomatoes were awesome and worked well with the pickled onions. The salmon piccata was light and fresh. The salmon was cooked to perfection. The gnocchi was probably the highlight of the meal - so chewy and the sauce was insanely good. Very garlicky and the pancetta was a great addition. The garlic bread (Acme bread) was a nice treat. Overall, super pleased with this meal. The food coming out was on the slower side but they are quite busy so understandable. Limited seating inside and only open from 5-9pm, so I definitely recommend a reservation. TLDR: Amazing Italian where no choice is wrong! read more
