When the server asked how was the food and I told him that the lamb was over cooked, he didn't reply at all. Just walked away. We have been coming to Addis for the past 10 yrs plus and we are never disappointed, it's just as good today since the day we started . Just enough spice for us , flavorful and plenty amount . Waited for a 2nd try to drop the review, but boy, do I not see the hype. All the food super bland, on the expensive side, and pretty stingy on the servings (particularly paneer). Makhani was just tomato sauce, no spice no other flavor. Baigan, where there should be so much opportunity for flavor, there wasn't any. It's next to impossible to find a decent Indian restaurant in any city especially in beach towns. So finding this restaurant is such a pleasant surprise. This is my 4th time here and each time, it didn't disappoint. I ordered the chicken tikka masala and aloo gobi. And both were infused with so much flavor without sacrificing the tenderness and texture of the dishes. If you eat at the restaurant, for lunch, they serve naan bread with your order for free. Addis is Amazing!! I Love the garlic naan and sea bass fish . Not to mention the wine is ALWAYS fabulous. The service is 100% it's like a warm family feeling when you enter Addis . His Kicthen staff has been cooking the food for 30 plus years !!!!! That's impressive, this tells you Addi treats his employees like family . The place is well maintained & clean . Plenty of parking and great access for carry out . I never really used to eat Indian food , I was under the impression that it had tons of curry and super spicy. Which I'm not a spicy food person lol . BUT Addi changed my perception of Indian food. So flavorful and everything just melts in your mouth . When I want a nice cheat meal or something heavy . My boyfriend and I no longer live in Redondo so we hadn't been here in a while and then last weekend we were in the area so we stopped in. The food and the service remains as excellent as it ever was. We split the butter chicken and the taaka dal. Both were incredibly tasty although we preferred the butter chicken. The garlic naan was the perfect amount of crispy and was so tasty. On top of the delicious food, we were really impressed by the service we had. They have a parking lot so parking is easy. Would recommend to anyone looking for some good Indian food where you will feel welcomed by the staff. read more

We were in the mood for Indian curry and our favorite restaurant was closed on Sunday. My husband turned to Yelp and found this restaurant with a lot of favorable reviews. When entering, the restaurant looked fancier than we expected. The tables were nicely decorated with white table cloths and real cloth napkins. There were a number of diners, so we figured it must be good. We ordered chicken curry, shrimp biryani and garlic naan. We asked for medium spicy, but the dishes weren't spicy at all. Maybe we looked like we couldn't handle the heat and they went easy on us. The garlic naan was nice and hot when it got to our table, but parts were burnt. The server was nice enough to bring us another order when we mentioned it. Prices were on the high side, but portions were generous. As we walked out, I turned and asked my husband if he'd return. He said he would, but only on a Sunday when our other favorite place was closed. read more

FINALLY! A high-quality Indian food restaurant in the South Bay!! Addi's Tandoor is a delightful little restaurant located in a small shopping center. While the restaurant may be a little hard to miss while driving, it's definitely worth a visit! We chose the Navratan Korma, Mattar Paneer, and Daal Makhani, all of which were delicious and very authentic. I thought the flavors were spot on and the best part was it wasn't overly heavy with oil, butter or cream. It tasted semi-healthy and definitely fresh!! We also decided to pair our flavorful veggies and lentils with the bread basket, a great mix of plain naan, garlic naan, and onion kulcha. Overall, this restaurant has a large menu, excellent quality food, friendly service, and a nice ambiance. This may have just became my go-to Indian food place :) Go on, dig in! read more

This place is lovely. One of my aunt's favorite dinner spots in the South Bay. I can see why. The service was great and the food was very flavorful. My lamb vindaloo was delicious! Be warned though. It's got a kick! I enjoyed the spice. One thing worth noting though... The mango lassi was extra sweet, so if you're used to the homemade kind where you taste the yogurt and cardamom, you may want to pass on their version of this yogurt drink. Prior to the party, in the planning phases, I tried out the food at the restaurant and loved it. I decided to vet them out further for catering and asked them for a unique menu, different from the restaurant menu. He came up with a great menu option at a reasonable price. Additionally, unlike other caterers, the quote did not include gratuity. He truly wanted me to tip them based on their service. Fast forward, we had a 120-person party at the Catalina Room in Redondo Beach. Addi wanted to make sure he made this party special for my parents and shut down his restaurant for that evening so that he and his staff could personally attend to this party and make it a success. His setup and servers were great, and the food was beyond delicious. We got rave reviews from all our guests. Finally, at the end of the night, he asked for me to come back to the restaurant the next day to pick up the leftovers because he did not want to bother me with that additional task that evening. I went back to his restaurant the next evening, and he gave me 3 bags of piping hot, fresh-cooked food and gave me a gift of nice wine thanking me. Who does that? Today, I saw a new sign, "Addis Darbar"!! An employee at Bollywood (owned by Addi) told me that Addi was remodeling and plans to re-open. Yay!! ******* Addi's Tandoor is my Favorite Indian restaurant. Addi has been in the Redondo Beach community for decades. He creates the most flavorful dishes. Our favorites are the Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb (or beef) Korma, Saag Paneer, and Garlic Nan. For a special treat, I order the Mango Lassi drink! When Dining in the restaurants, there are a few extra dishes versus a la carte (take out). Dinners include Dal Makhani (lentils), Raita (yogurt sauce), and Nan. Garlic Nan is a little extra. We usually have left overs to enjoy the next day. My mouth is watering just thinking about their food. Looking forward to returning again soon. read more

The usual order: Samosa - vegetarian 5/5 Chicken Tikka Masala - 5/5 Aloo Gabi - 5/5 Mint & Tamarin sauces are tasty compliments to the meal. Lunch comes with Naan (reg or garlic) & a salad. A very classy, traditional Northern Indian dinner. Addi's Tandoor is an intimate/romantic restaurant on Torrance Blvd just west of Prospect (near Redondo Beach) that does not have a buffet. Dishes come either A La Carte or with a combo (daal, raita, regular naan or garlic (+$1.25), and rice). We decided on a Mixed Tandoori Platter Dinner for $22.95 before tax at Medium spice and the Baingan Bharta (pureed eggplant and veggies) a la carte for $12.95 before tax at Hot spice. Quick Tips: -Limited parking in the lot. Luckily Torrance/Redondo neighborhood/street parking is very easy. -Cozy and dark inside. Many tables squished together. Maybe 15 tables total? -Despite the romantic atmosphere, I noticed solo eaters and people wearing flannels. -Every table comes with two chutneys: sweet red chutney and slightly spicy cilantro chutney -Hot level spice is just enough spice for most people. Not overwhelming. On a scale of 1-Howlin'(10) it's a 4/10. -GET THE BAINGAN BHARTA. IT BANGIN. Taste Mixed Tandoori Plate 3.5/5 Two of everything. Good if you aren't starving. Our moderate sized dish comprised of grilled shrimp, chicken thighs with bones (tandoori chicken), and chicken breasts (chicken tikka) all on top of raw onions, cilantro, and raw red cabbage. Good, but the food wasn't hot. Chicken was cooked well. Spice level (Med Hot) was barely noticeable. Baingan Bharta 5/5 A delicious pureed curried eggplant dish with peas, carrots, and onions. We got it Hot and, while it wasn't hot enough for me, it was very enjoyable. I really loved this dish. Naan 4.5/5 A little more doughy than most naan I've had, but maybe this is regional? What are the differences between Norther Indian naan and Pakistani naan? Regardless, it was delicious. Only issue, coldish. Daal 5/5 Thin daal, very aromatic and flavorful. Loved this. Price 4/5 Portions are a little smaller than expected, but the quality shines through. $40 for 2 people is very reasonable. Service 4.5/5 Attentive (many servers running around filling waters and asking if everything tastes good) but distant. No one singular waiter. Personally, I like my waiter to give suggestions, but our waiter/s were uninspired. I suppose the service fits the intimate atmosphere. read more
