    Chicken tikka masala

I ordered chicken tikka masala and veggie curry take out earlier tonight. Walked into a very classy and busy restaurant. Every table was full and everyone looked satisfied with their meals. Our food was excellent and flavorful. We are glad we ordered rice as our curries did not come with it. Portions were large and we had leftovers. Highly recommend this spot for Indian food if you like curry. Looks like a nice spot for a date as well.

Ingredients are fresh and dishes are solid, but rice and naan cost extra. Plates run $20-30, a little on the pricier side. Ambiance works well for a social night -- tables are nicely spaced. Easy parking in the lot. Diverse crowd.

So my friend has been raving about this place and we finally got to go. Well, I believe I'm spoiled after eating some upscale Indian in Manhattan with considerably higher prices. Service was good; rice complimentary which is nice these days. Portions generous i.e. I will have some leftovers to nibble on for lunch. But the Saag Paneer was a bit bland; maybe I should have requested spicer. The Chicken Vinadloo did not have enough kick to it either but was tender. The Garlic Naan was disappointing as it seemed more like pita. Come with moderate expectations and you'll be fine. Free parking available.

The food was really good and flavorful. I would definitely recommend the mango lassi, it's so good especially with the lamb vindaloo. The service was great too as the waitress would always check on us. The ambiance is good as well though I'd say the lighting was quite dim.

A friend highly recommended this place and I've been wanting to try it out and finally got an opportunity to do so. There's ample amount of parking all around (street and lot). The restaurant itself is quit fancy looking. It's def a place you can invite guest/family to. The service is incredibly welcoming and the owner himself greets you and serves you. It's def very personal and if that's your thing this is def the place for you 5 stars + Now to the food. We ordered the fish masala medium spice and lamb tikka masala spicy. The fish of the day is sea bass and it was very fresh and soft but it really lacked flavor and medium spice taste mild. Let's just say I ended up just drinking the curry without rice. The lamb was similar, lacked flavor but meat was fresh and soft. Spicy was mild as well but the owner offered to take it back and then it was pretty spicy. The garlic naan was good. Also order the mango lassi, it was pretty good but because of the price point, I had higher expectations. We really really enjoyed the service.

My favorite Indian restaurant, i came for both of my birthdays. The portions are big, if you're coming with someone i recommend getting different ones and share. The restaurant is a little fancy so wear something presentable, lighting is dim. Staff is so nice and welcoming, I really recommend coming!!!

We got the mild spicy chicken momos and the medium spicy chickpea curry (channa masala). If I could redo it, I'd probably switch the spice levels, go medium on the momos and mild on the chickpeas. The curry had a real kick, and I think milder would pair better with rice for smoother sailing. Overall, the food met our expectations. Interestingly, the momos actually tasted better the second day, the sauce felt more balanced after sitting overnight. We'd order from them again. Not a top-tier, must-save spot, but solid and dependable. My only real complaint is the garlic naan, $4.50 for about 1.5 smaller pieces felt skimpy. At that price, two full pieces would feel more reasonable. Naan is kind of foundational, like an Italian restaurant being stingy with bread. It just leaves a slightly off first impression.

For drinks I had the cucumber mint lemonade. It's their newest drink. So delicious! It's cold, refreshing, and delivers a burst of flavor in your mouth. A must try! For food I had the chicken tikka masala (mild), half rice, and garlic naan. They also give you a small side salad. The garlic naan was the best I've ever had. So moist and not burnt like a lot of other places. You can easily pull it apart with your fingers as it screams, "eat me! eat me!", with delight. The chicken tikka masala's flavor was amazing! I like to try things mild first to see how they taste. Some places serve bland food and mask it with spiciness. Not here. The flavor is all there. Next time I think I'm going to adventure on the wild side and try the medium and then possibly the spicy. The included salad was simple yet so satisfying. The dressing is definitely unique and packs a punch with the spice level but... I like it. *wink* *wink* hahhaa. The rice was perfection. I hate it when it's not cooked enough and too mushy or overcooked and hard. Originally I was going to eat half tonight and then the other half tomorrow but... I know myself. I would just go to bed, wake up in the middle of the night thinking about it, then not be able to go back to sleep until I finished the rest because it would keep calling my name from the kitchen. Hahahaha. I didnt get to see the inside because I got it to go but I'll let you guys know in an update. The staff there is great and they seem like a very nice family. As I've always said, I'm a huge supporter of family businesses. I'm soooo happy I gave this place a shot. I am not only coming back, I'm definitely going to have them cater some of my parties. Enjoy!

They're thick, they're flavorful, they hit you with the right spice. Normal spice is a white man's medium high so they got their base down which is more than half the battle. They cook the Paneer just right. And really enjoyed the Bartha! That The not so good: the chicken is way overcooked, I don't know if it's breast or thigh, but it definitely tasted like a dried out breast. Possibly using the tandoori and just dropping it into the gravy, but a perfectly cooked chicken thigh would take the chicken tikka masala to the moon. Second, the Paneer portion size was a joke. Maybe six cubes in the whole deal. Needs to be at least double. I'm ready to try again you gotta protect your meats!

The meal opened with Rooh Afza falooda and a mango lassi, each thoughtfully composed. The falooda was aromatic and layered without being cloying, while the mango lassi struck an ideal balance between fruit, dairy, and sweetness--refreshing and composed, not dessert-heavy. The transition to savory dishes was seamless. Pani puri arrived crisp and well-structured, with a pleasantly sharp, clean pani that avoided overpowering acidity. The chicken 65 followed--crisp on the exterior, tender within, and seasoned with confidence. The spice was assertive but controlled, allowing the dish's texture and flavor to remain the focus. For the mains, both the mutton biryani and chicken biryani were commendable. The rice was aromatic and distinct, the proteins well integrated rather than buried beneath spice. Each biryani stood on its own, demonstrating careful layering rather than relying on heat alone. The standout of the meal was undeniably the lamb vindaloo. Rich, deeply spiced, and unapologetically bold, it delivered complexity without heaviness. Paired with soft, well-cooked naan, it was the most memorable dish on the table and a clear indicator of the kitchen's strength with traditional preparations. The meal concluded with two varieties of dosa, both expertly executed--crisp, light, and evenly cooked, served with flavorful chutneys and sambar that complemented rather than distracted. While the service was a little slow, it felt more reflective of the care taken in preparing each dish rather than inattentiveness. The pacing ultimately allowed us to enjoy the meal without feeling rushed. Banana Leaf succeeds not by spectacle, but by consistency, authenticity, and technical precision. For diners seeking serious South Indian cooking with depth and integrity, this restaurant stands out as a reliable and rewarding choice in LA.
