I have eaten here three times, and each time have found it a little less satisfying. The portions are large, the sauces delicious, and the service superb. However, the chicken tastes industrial, the shrimp second-or third-rate, and everything is just a tad disappointing. Too sweet, too undistinguished or too bland. If they just tried to make every dish superior, even if they had to raise prices10 to 20 percent, I would return regularly. As it is, i may give this restaurant a miss for a few months, at least until I find myself craving their delicious I am sad about that as I love Indian food and appreciate their efforts. read more

I've been spending a lot of time in Torrance lately and was looking for authentic Indian cuisine. This place was fantastic - the Grilled tandoori platter is my go to dish and my vegetarian husband orders the sides. We tried a few new things - the potato samosas were fantastic and their green sauce should be available to purchase. The Malai Kofta was something we've never tried and it is now a new favorite. We ordered MED spicy and they nailed it. The Baigan Bharta was also spot on. So glad to have found this gem. read more

My husband and I really like this place. We are early diners (arriving around 6pm or a little earlier), and we never have issue being seated. The staff is super cordial, and we see lots of take out being picked up. We always order the same thing - chana palak with medium spice and chicken biryani with mild spice. We have come here numerous times over the last 2 decades. The food comes out HOT and their portions are plentiful! One of the nice things about this restaurant is this, just before your food is brought out, you get a warm plate set in front of you. Great idea to put hot food on a warm plate! :) Addi's Tandoor is easy to drive right on by if you don't know where it is, so be watchful. The parking is tight due to the Martial Arts place in the same center along with other businesses. Generally, you can find parking, you just may have to walk a little further. This restaurant is a very nice place for a cozy and intimate dinner. My husband and I came here sans children. Indian food is best shared in a group so you can enjoy a variety. For just the 2 of us, we get a meat entree and a veggie entree to share. Then, we end up eating it again the next day because there's plenty leftover. I love the simple yet elegant decorations. They have a small display where you can see some Indian instruments like the Sitar and Tabla. Reservations are a good idea, especially for dinner. We have NEVER made a reservation and have not had a problem getting a table. We don't usually plan ahead, we hop in the car and find something along our way. I always get a Mango Lassi at Indian Restaurants. I think they have the best Lassi!! A lassi is a yogurt milkshake, which doesn't seem appealing, but when it has mango in it, it is yummy!! On this evening, we ordered the Mixed Tandoori Plate, Rogan Josh, and the Mattar Paneer. We also had Naan, a little cup of dal, and a small bowl of rice. All of it was excellent! The meats on the tandoori plate were tender & moist! We were asked how spicy we wanted our food, so we said, "As spicy as you can make it". It came out medium... after all the times we've been here, they don't trust that we can handle it. It had been a while since we'd been here, so they probably didn't even remember us, or they have new waiters. The Rogan Josh is a lamb curry cooked in the traditional Kashmiri style and the meat is super tender, not even chewy. The mattar paneer is peas and homemade cottage cheese cubes in a mild curry sauce and is my all time favorite! It is so scrumptious! Now, if they could coordinate their food and waiter service, they'd have gotten 5 stars from me! I don't know if he didn't want to bother us or if he just liked standing in the distance and watching. My husband's water glass was empty for most of the meal and the waiter came by with the pitcher to refill as we were ready to settle the bill. A little late. From their website - * All our dishes are free of preservatives, MSG and animal fats. We specialize in a low-fat and low cholesterol cuisine.* This was posted under the vegetarian section, so I think it only applies to it. But being preservative & MSG free could apply to the other dishes also. It is unclear. The prices here are probably comparable to other Indian Restaurants in the South Bay. With that being said, it is still pricey. If we only got ONE Dinner with a meat entree & a mango lassi, it would have cost about $27.50, give or take a few cents and not including a tip. The strangest realization that I have had recently was that, I had never tried Indian food, even though I thought I have. I suppose I was thinking Ethiopian or Thai, which could not have been further from the truth. I was excited to try Indian food since I like spicy and sweet. Also, I know that Indian food is Vegetarian friendly and that meant I had plenty of choices! To start the dinner off, I believe we had Veggie Samosas, which were SO DELICIOUS! It was the fried pastry filled with potato and peas! It was served with two types of sauces, one was this green spicy savory sauce and the other was a red cranberry sweet sauce. Either one or both complimented the Samosas very well! It was delicious and super filling! For the main course I had the Shrimp Briyani and Saag Paneer. OH MY GOSH, the Shrimp Briyani was everything I love about a dish. It was flavorful, it had shrimp, it wasnt dry and it was rice! I didn't have to season or drizzle a sauce over it, which I normally do since I am a big fan of black pepper and condiments! I couldn't stop eating, I wished I had four stomachs because the portion was so large and it was beyond delicious! It was sweet but balanced with spice and complimented the shrimp very well! I am in love with their Shrimp Briyani! I had a taste of their Saag Paneer and it was delicious as well! The fresh spinach was welled cooked and it was this yummy texture that I love when spinach is sauteed. I normally take pride in finishing the dishes that I have ordered and I wanted to finished both the Briyani and Paneer but I couldn't! They are so generous with their portions, its eye opening! I took it home and had it the next day for breakfast and lunch. The Paneer, I could not put down! I didn't even heat it up because I was starving and I actually prefer it cold! There were tiny pieces of potato which was a awesome surprise! The Briyani was still delicious and at this point, the sauce around the rice was thicker and it was yummy! It was a great breakfast and lunch! The decor is beautiful and very intimate! It is a few blocks away from the beach which is also convenient! They have these beautiful silk drapes and well painted Indian portraits that intrigues me because they were so pretty! The place is decorated in a way that shows the true pride in the Indian Culture and Cuisine that they provide! It isn't loud either! The staff was beyond gracious! They welcomed us right in and gave us our tables and they connected with us! I didn't have to ask for water once! That is one of the most annoying actions a customer has to do. They have to pin down a waiter to ask for something but I did not have to do that once! Also, their glass has a tin of blue which made the water so much more appetizing! I went here with my colleagues for dinner one evening and everything from the food to the service was great. We ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, Beef Masala, and one of the vegetarian curry that had some amazing cheese with it. You can choose to go a la carte or dinner. Dinner comes with a bunch of other things but the curry portions are smaller. Since we would be sharing, we went with the a la carte style. Also, we had two orders of Nan and an order of rice. I love nan and originally was worried it wouldn't be enough but between me and one other person two nan were perfect! We went for dinner to this place that usually serves great food. Worst dinner ever. The vegetable shashlik had heavy red food color. It's supposed to be tomato, not red food color chef! The waiter assumed we wanted ala carte. The dish came with rice, lentils etc. Did not get it. He took the order for vegetarian samosas. He brought chicken samosas and served them to a couple of vegetarians. Excuse was they looked the same. Minimum wait to get a table 10 minutes. Time to bring the menus 10 minutes. I live just a few miles from Addi's but never would have thought to go here if it wasn't for yelp, so, thank you again, yelp, for helping me to find a great restaurant! It's hard to find Indian restaurants that aren't buffets or take-out type places (not that I have anything against those types of restaurants, but sometimes it's not what you are looking for), so I was happy that this was a sit-down-and-order type place. We went on a rainy Sunday night so there was hardly anyone there, which was great because we were seated right away and the service was really attentive. I loved that there was a parking lot for the "strip mall" which was a lot nicer than I imagined when I read "strip mall". Everything that we had was absolutely delicious. You can either order entrees as a full dinner which comes with naan, rice, etc. or you can order a la carte. We decided to order a la carte and do it family style, splitting the Baigan Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, an order of garlic naan, and Peas Pulao (rice with peas). One order of naan comes with two HUGE pieces, which was enough for two people to split and have some leftover. Actually we left with a ton a leftovers.. the portions are quite generous. You can choose the spice level, and based on other reviews I read here, I opted for medium + rather than spicy and it was a good amount of spice. Not too much, so I think spicy might have been okay for me, but I was happy with the medium+. I am looking forward to having my leftovers for lunch tomorow! read more

Saag Paneer was great. Prawn Kanyakumari was just okay. But I'm not a bell peppers kind of person so my opinion could be biased. The lamb tikka masala was okay. Maybe I should have gotten the chicken like everyone else recommends. Mango lassi and sweet lassi were delicious and delivered in a super cute drink. It almost felt like I should have been on a tropical island. Overall everything was good, but it was pretty pricey. I don't think I would come back. There wasn't anything that would really make me come back if I were in the area either. But if you're interested in this place, it is pretty good. They also take reservations. If you're eating here while it's close to when the sun is setting don't sit directly in front of the door all the way towards the bathroom. If you do, you'll get a bright flash of light in your face every time someone opens the door to either leave or come in to the restaurant. read more

A lovely restaurant with delicious food, Addi's is really a a great place. Service is attentive. Food is plentiful (wish I had asked about the portions, we had WAY too much food). Leftovers enough for 3-4 more meals. Nice to hear Indian music in the background...of the Enigma, Deep Forest type - instrumental, pleasant music. Ambience is casual with a sophisticated edge, white tablecloths, linen napkins, sparkly wine glasses. I love details like this. After dinner we we were outside enjoying the fresh air when we were approached by a homeless guy. Nothing overwhelming or threatening, he just wanted a light, my guy gave him a couple cigs and all of our leftovers. He was thrilled. No biggie for us, but I can imagine it was a big deal for him. The portions are good. It's not cheap, though, and I wish they would give you a little chutney for free with your takeaway order instead of charging the price of half a meal for each chutney, which comes in huge portions that you'll never finish with your meal. I Yelped Addi which is nearby the Torrance area and go to the restaurant at about 5pm. We were the first to arrive and got a nice table in a very clean and well decorated dining room. They start by bringing you chilled water and the menus. We ordered the chicken samosas which were excellent and came with ample servings of the tamarind chutney and mint chutney. For the main entrees, we had fish masala, chicken saag, garlic naan and papadaum crackers. They ask how you want the dishes prepared being hot or mild. We chose mild and everything was perfect. The serving size of the dishes are also very ample compared to other Indian restaurants. All entrees come with basmati rice. This is one of the better Indian restaurants that I have ever dined in and rate it a solid 5. read more

It's been years since I've been to Addi's. Came here for lunch with one of my friends who loves the chicken tikka masala. This Indian restaurant is more upscale, and it's not an all you can eat buffet lunch. You order off a menu. Years ago, they used to have a salad bar, but guess that was taken out a while ago. My friend didn't want to do family style, so we ended up both ordering the chicken tikka masala. The chicken tikka masala consists of white meat chicken in a tomato and ginger sauce. You can order it to your heat level liking from mild to hot. I went with medium. Comes with your choice of plain or garlic naan. We were first served with a small mixed green salad. It was fresh and okay. The tikka masala was tasty, flavorful and creamy. The chunks of white meal chicken was tender and good. The meal also comes with rice. I loved the nice warm garlicky naan. Lunch for the two of us was $40 and change. Service was okay, no complaints. Off street parking available. read more

I had a hankering for Indian food and decided to try some of my go-to options- Chicken Tikka Masala, garlic naan, and a mango lassi. I was greeted by Addi who is the owner and offered a drink as it is NYD. He was very personable. The food was just as delicious as everyone who has given this place great reviews knows. The sauce was just right with tender pieces of boneless chicken. The cool creaminess of the mango lassi complemented my dish. The portions were very generous. I cannot say enough good things about the food at this restaurant. I love Indian food and lamb dishes in particular. I ate them when I visited India and I've been searching for good Indian lamb dishes locally. I found them!!! The first visit I tried Lamb Korma. The curry sauce was creamy, tangy and a bit sweet. It was good. I knew the Onion Kutcha bread didn't really go with what I ordered but I had to try it. Both were so good tasting. Today I had Saag Lamb which was so good I couldn't stop eating it. The Lamb Tikka Masala had really good flavor too. I also tried the the Naan and Garlic Naan. The Garlic Naan was my favorite of the two. Give your taste buds a treat and Addi's Darbar a try!!! I came here for dinner with my husband after a few friends highly recommended this place to us. When we stepped inside, I was surprised by how nice it was. Dim-lit, ornate decorations, with a fancier vibe. Can be romantic enough for a date. I got the Chicken Tikka Masala dinner and my husband got the Saag Paneer dinner. All their dinners are served with dal makhani (lentils), rice, raita (yogurty condiment), and plain naan (but you can upgrade to garlic naan for $1.25 extra). Portions are very generous. It was a LOT of food and we had a ton of leftovers to take home. My husband really liked his meal and I enjoyed my chicken tikka masala but I just wished it was a tad bit spicier. Finally found a great Indian restaurant in the South Bay. I have strict standards when it comes to Indian food and this place nails it! The chicken tikka masala is just right and the lamb biryani was awesome! Good sized portions too! We always have leftovers to take home. We usually like things a bit spicy so we told them to make the spice level "a little more than medium". That was my bad. This place knows how to turn up the heat!! Addi's has continued to serve excellent Indian dishes over the years. I enjoy the ambiance of the restaurant which is intimate but still roomy enough not to be sitting on top of the next table. The service is outstanding, which just makes the perfect trifecta for an excellent meal. I cannot praise this restaurant enough. Oh, and do not miss the excellent wines which complement the meal.
