Which is probably why the original owners attempted to convert it to gas. We wanted wood, not gas, and we wanted to get the 26% federal income tax credit. So we visited A Fireplace Store and More and spoke to the woman working there. She set up a date for Rony to come out and give us an estimate. Rony showed up on time and we settled on a modern high efficiency biomass fireplace insert that qualifies for the credit. Parts and labor was not cheap, but we wanted a quality appliance and this business has decades of experience, which we also wanted. We put down a deposit and set the installation day, which was today. Rony and his team showed up on time, worked quickly, did good quality work and cleaned up afterwards. Rony explained how to use the new fireplace and was all done in a matter of 3-4 hours. Very happy with our purchase and service and we can't wait until we can use it this winter.

I had them relocate it into my finished basement. Because it has a big pipe vent that went out through my cedar shake shingle siding, some residing needed to be done as well as patching the exit hole. Drywall work, residing and all the small details were completed with precision as well as repiping the gas line. I'm very happy that I chose NWMC to work with again this time. Warning- a lot of painters will tell you they can do it, but you want to find someone who specializes in brick staining. It's really more of an art than I realized- creating the effect of natural brick. I can't remember how I found out about Brick Transformers but all I will say is Harry and his crew are THE premier brick strainers in the Chicagoland area. He pretty much invented the concept and has been doing it for decades. He's honed his craft. Be forewarned, he's very booked up, so you might have to wait a while for him to get to your project, but it's so worth it. He's great to work with, listens to what you want and the results will exceed your expectations.
