Friendly, fun, great location in the heart of Petaluma's downtown. Adobe has multiple tiered options for wine tasting which start at $20 and run you to $40, as well as some premier tastings of wines which you can spend a few hundred dollars on to get a case. The winery is owned by a race car driver, so they have a series of wines with car themed bottles (Ex; bottle top looking like a stick shift with gears) which I thought was fun and different. My favorite was their reserve Cabernet Sauv, but they have lots of red varieties to try. We decided to visit Petaluma for my birthday and came across this winery. I live this place! They are know for their cab selection and I can say now, I know why. There were two that I really loved - one being so amazing I almost didn't want to drink it; just stare at its glory (2016 Beckstoffer). I did also love the blue dog but they only sell it by the case. The service was amazing! We were helped by Tony who made us laugh and walked us through the wines. He also took a really fun picture for us to help mark the day. I have been here about 4 times since June 2019 and have always had a great experience. They are open until 7pm but make sure you are there by 6:30 to do a tasting or you'll be rushed or may not have enough time if it's packed. I've been served by Lisa and a couple of times and she was absolutely fantastic. She took the time to show me some techniques on tasting that really help me to appreciate and understand the wine and how to taste. That is def something I really appreciate when I go wine tasting, a person to take the time and give me pointers on how to have a better experience with wine. Let me start by saying I am not an expert in wine but I have struggled to drink red wine until this place. Their wine is really delicious and I enjoy many of their bottles. My favorite bottles so far have been: - 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon: Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard, Rutherford, Napa Valley - 2016 Apex, Sonoma County - 2016 Redline, Sonoma + Napa County - 2017 Pinot Noir, Roberts Road Vineyard, Petaluma Gap (Delicious) - 2017 Sauvignon Blanc, Sonoma County - Shift PROS: - Location is right in the downtown area in a building with other places like 24-hour fitness and the Goat Bistro next door. I believe you can get a discount if you order from there to take back to the tasting room, but not 100% sure on that. - They are going to be opening a newer and bigger place with small bites in the future. - Wines are really delicious - Staff is super nice and they are very knowledgeable about the wine - Seating is comfortable - I love the grape-growing map on the wall near the bar area. It's great to reference when tasting and reviewing the wines - Lovely windows to bring in the light CONS: - Hard to find the place. There are no real signs or ways to really see it. - Very small tasting room. It's always packed when I come here, but that's okay - Parking can be a pain so be prepared. Luckily walking around downtown Petaluma isn't rough - I forget to ask but I don't always get those little breadsticks from the one pouring when I go in for a tasting. This was the shop right in front of us when we stopped in downtown Sonoma, so we decided to get a wine tasting here. We seemed to overwhelm the shoplady a bit, although all she did was pour us wine, so I'm not sure what her deal was. Shop was cute though, with a bar area and a picnic table for communal wine tasting. $15 for 5 wines (pre-selected). I wasn't a huge fan of any of them, to be honest, and it was kind of hit-or-miss for the group. I'm sure they're aware of this, but the wine tasting is free if you end up buying a bottle, and one of their wines was $15/bottle (the Grenache), so obviously everyone walked out with a bottle of this. Adobe Road Winery was the 4th, and final stop, on our wine tasting adventure. By the time we arrived here, my memory and taste buds were no longer at their optimal level. I was also pleased with the spacious tasting room and large bar area. I finally took a seat while tasting. I opted to stand at the previous 3 spots. I was long overdue to sit down and rest. My hubby was familiar with this brand due to his motorsports background as a racecar driver, driver coach, and racing series director. If you read about the history of how Adobe Road came into fruition you'll understand why I'm even mentioning motorsports. He and our sommelier talked about racing and she was very friendly and easy-going. Back to the wines - I can't remember if there was a tasting fee or if it was waived because of our purchase. As mentioned earlier, this was our 4th stop so I wasn't exactly paying attention to detail. I tasted several wines but only 1 stood out - 2006 Petite Sirah, Knights Valley ($40). This full-bodied wine had an intense and long-lasting flavor. I also enjoyed their table wine, known as Redline ($25). We purchased both bottles. I obtained those prices from the Adobe Road website however, when I checked my receipt we paid far less. Maybe they hooked us up?? =) Most of the bottles are etched and have a nicer look and feel overall. These wines make great gifts with a delicious flavor to back it up. read more

Came for a first-time tasting and took advantage of the yelp 2-for-1 and went with the reserve. Got to add in the Apex and sparkling rose as well. NoT a single wine I didn't like; the Chardonnay and Syrah were especially drinkable. They specialize more in reds but the sparkling was unique. Tony took care of us in the tasting room! Great car and wine guy to chat with both my husband and me. Definitely tempted to become a member soon! Love their new cozy tasting room in downtown Petaluma, just a couple blocks away from their soon-to-be-built establishment. Friendly staff and wine maker, open on the later side for a tasting room (7pm everyday), and amazing wines. There are different options for tastings that range from $15-$25 dollars. Love all their wines, but those that stand out to me are the Voignier, Chardonnay (90pts Wine Spectator), Grenache, Zinfandel, and all their Cabs. I fell in love with the Viognier when I first tried it -- smell, feel, taste, the works. The chard is well balanced with fruit and oak. Their Rutherford cabs drink like classic Napa cabs, beautiful and smooth. And plenty more options to choose from for all different tastes and palates! We've been members for about 2 years now, and we're more than satisfied. I appreciate their two bottle option with the ability to swap in and out. Complimentary wine tastings and 20% off purchases are great perks as well. Also, the atmosphere is very warm and welcoming. I would recommend to anyone thinking about joining. Super excited for their location in the works which will have a showcase of their Aston Martin race cars. You'll notice the logo on the wine glasses and photos on the TV screen. Ask them about it! Their 2009 Cabernet Franc (which is on the reserve list) is fantastic. We went on a weekend and it wasn't too crowded at all. Adobe is a cute, intimate little spot that has a tiny back patio that we used to drink 3 bottles of their Franc as we munched on cheeses and cured meats. The staff was friendly and made us feel welcome as we proceeded to spend out entire afternoon there without heading out to any other wineries. It was just what I needed; a kick-back, relaxing atmosphere with good food, good people, and fantastic wines. On the way out we picked up two more bottles of the Franc. It is GOOD! read more

Showed up to Adobe Road before our dinner reservation. We were greeted promptly and welcomed in despite there only being 15 minutes left in their day. It was a great idea! The tasting room is really comfortable and convenient for a pre-meal glass or tasting. I cannot speak to all of the wines. I really like Sémillon, so decided to just have a glass of that. It was dry with a wonderful nose and smooth finish, a really easy wine to enjoy. I'm looking forward to returning for a full tasting. read more

Walked around Sonoma Square today and noticed a new tasting room. Adobe Road Winery opened its new location: 481 1st Street West, Sonoma, CA 95476 last Friday. With four days open they really had a nice setup in their tasting room. They have around nine wines to try mostly from Knights Valley. We tasted their: 08 Sauvignon Blanc 08 Rose of Pinot Noir 07 RRV Pinot Noir 06 Dry Creek Syrah 06 Knights Valley Cab Franc 06 Knights Valley Cab Sauvignon 06 Knights Valley Petite Sirah 06 RRV Petite Sirah Their 06 Russian River Valley Petite Sirah was my favorite. Megan was our pourer and she was so sweet. It was nice to visit the tasting room so early on. I am excited to see how they develop. I wish them the best of luck. read more

Came in ..did the flight..left like I had done a flight with a bottle in hand... and come to think of it wished I had purchased a second bottle. Great place to hang, pet friend, wonderful atmosphere.. beautiful day.. ultra relaxing..and for just $10 you felt like you had experienced a spa. Adobe Road Winery also sponsor the infamous TRG Porsche race-cars so if you happen to know anything about racing, likely you know of this place.
