He used some kind of high-tech equipment to measure our floors and figure out how much our slab was off, then walked us through all his findings in plain English. Turns out we didn't need any major foundation work right now (which was a huge relief!), but JT still gave us some great tips on how to prevent future issues. I really appreciated how honest he was -- no pressure, no upselling, just straightforward advice. Gave a hour and a 10 min notification of arrival. He walked the exterior and interior of the house. He pointed out possible concerns. Eventually brought in a machine and took multiple measurement throughout the house. He explained what was considered acceptable. His crew worked all hours of the day until the evening for 3 weeks. We replaced our subfloors and had original hardwood floors which they salvaged 60% of the original floors. We decided to go with a lighter stain rather than the dark that we had, and it makes our small home look so much bigger. We also replaced some joists, pier and beams from our crawl space and they cleaned out our crawl space and put plastic down to encapsulate it with new vents that open and close with high or low humidity levels. They cleaned up all the leftover mess of wood and bricks which was much appreciated. It was a big job and everyone worked super hard even on the weekends. The price we got quoted from 4 other companies were ridiculous, and Shaun had the best rates for what they did. We got 3 estimates in that each of the three companies sent their staff to the house in reviewing and preparing data for estimates. The estimates from the 3 companies came back with wide range of recommendations and costs. Tony from Star Techn came to do the estimate. He was very professional and informative and answered all of my questions. We picked Star Techn. Foundation Repair because of their estimate and recommendation made sense and not upselling with so many different options which added more costs. Flor was great in her responsive and constant communications with me from the beginning and throughout the project. Flor and Henry were able to work with my schedule to start the project. In addition to keeping the work around the house free of trash and organized, the crew really worked hard and well together in getting the project done in such short amount of time which exceeded my expectations. We have 2 large oak trees close to the front of the house. During the digging of the holes , the crew cut lots of the roots with some as large as one foot in diameter. Apparently, these tree roots have been moving towards the house causing the elevation and foundation issues at the front part of house. Because of discovering this issue, Flora informed me and recommended the metal tree root barrier service that they can do. After reviewing the process and considering protecting the investment of the house foundation from further future damage, we proceeded with the metal root barrier service. Glad we did this since we discovered more large roots encroaching the house that the crew had to cut off. We first reached out to Star Techn to help us with the inspection of the home we planned to purchase. The inspection report noted some leveling issues with the house so it was clear work needed to be done. Star T immediately responded and provided us an initial estimate. This proved to be critical in helping us negotiate during the option period. Then when it came time to begin the work they stayed in contact with us the entire time. From start to finish, the team was incredible. They kept us in the loop the entire time during the project and were candid when they spotted issues or uncovered things that needed to be fixed (like plumbing). The biggest thing for us during this project is that we truly felt like we were receiving an honest assessment and fair value for the work being performed. On day one I never imagined how much digging would be taking place around the foundation but I have to say the quality of the work and the way everything was restored to normal in the yard after everything was completed was extraordinary. I've had the old guy come out 2 times now and all he does is slap a level down on the floor real quick and say it's fine. Anything ya say he just makes an argument before you can make your point and actually yells. ya kinda want to let into your anger with him but then he's old and kinda, maybe unable to govern his mouth do to lack of impulse control? I am in the middle of selling a house and the decision to have work done is expensive in time, if not necessarily in cost, as any interior repairs would have to be done a month after the foundation work was completed, to let stress in the structure settle & relieve. One of the owner's, Frank, came out and inspected the foundation. He was extremely knowledgeable and discovered a myriad of things that I was not aware of regarding foundation work, such as the different type of piles and that because it was structural work, the repairs should be stamped by a professional engineer, and that if Continental did any work, his plans would in fact be stamped. In the end he determined that the foundation was good as is and that I did not need to go chasing unnecessary repairs at this point in time. Needless to say, that was great news to hear and shows what an upstanding company Continental Foundation is. Many other companies would have been more than happy to start digging around the house to perform costly and substandard work.
