Worst Company Ever! Had a disconnection earlier this year and tech fixed it in 15 minutes. Now months later they want me to pay $375 when I WAS NEVER TOLD ANY COST FOR REPAIRS. I was also conned into $1500 for install when the location already had ADT from prior occupants. Further, the camera systems were not the same live cameras I had with them prior. They are only activated with motion detection and detect EVERY CAR that drives by so camera memory gets full fast. So then I have no cameras for 1/2 the month, but am being charged for service. The tech decided best places to install so HE made the choice to install camera on side yard, but again it records all cars driving by. When I called to complain the cameras memory are full they said it's an extra fee to upgrade memory. EVERYTHING IS AN EXTRA FEE. DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY. And if you try to cancel you will go unanswered and have to follow up a million times. By the way they locked me into a 5 year contract that was past my lease term and had an employee sign the contract when NO-ONE but me was authorized to enter into a contract. They held me liable and then forced me to transfer service and then locked me into another 3 years. I rather have no security than deal with this disorganized, shady company. read more

He is extremely knowledgeable in his industry and personally in just one visit analyzed our newly opened business location's existing security system. He then had his team to perform the latest software update, upgrade to more modern hardware as needed and they had the service active quickly. We at A&J Postal+ are highly satisfied with ADT and we've trusted them with all of our business and residential security in the Las Vegas area for the last 9 years without fail. We've had a couple of accidental false alarms and we're impressed with their reaction times for confirmation calls from Dispatch & patrol response on site in a matter of minutes. We had their outdoor camera installed due to theft in our yard and low and behold...AGAIN, my sons Mongoose was stolen out of the front of the yard. Not only did their outdoor system not pick up any clip at all due to no motion (so we have nothing to present to the police dept.) but when I called asking for a resolution no one wanted to give me a supervisor and the only ones paying for my sons stolen bike(which was about 10 feet from the camera) is my fiance and I. Save your money; keep your money. Their security is a joke. We signed a 3 year contract, paid to have their service installed and now we are paying to be robbed not only by the thief that stole my sons bike but by ADT too. read more

I wish I read the reviews before I started my services and my contract with ADT. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND NEVER SIGN UP FOR ANYTHING WITH ADT. I purchased this system for my rental property and I thought that just because they are really expensive that they are the best, it turns out that there are the worst. A piece of malfunctioning equipment was installed into my house and The alarm started going off around 6 AM which woke up my renters they were calling me and really harshly complaining to me about the sound. Immediately I called ADT and they were "so nice"to schedule me appointment with four hour window 8 AM to 12 PM. I said the people are freaking out right now it's 6 o'clock in the morning and they can't do anything in the house because of the horrible noise that can't be stopped. Somebody showed up at 10:30 AM. and supposedly fix the issue. After a couple of hours alarm started going off again, and as it turns out it was another piece of bad equipment that they installed into my house. I had to end up refunding my guest for the time of their staying because of this issue. Nobody from the customer service was understanding what we are going through. Nobody offered anything and at the end I was offered to be refunded for the month of January which is $47. I was kind of disappointed but I accepted $47. February 1 I was charged for the month of January anyway and when I called the customer service billing department they said that they can refund me only for one day that my alarm was going off. Are you kidding me I just refunded my guest thousands of dollars for their inconvenience and you were offering me less than two dollars refund for the same inconvenience that you created. I just want out of this company, this is the biggest shame I ever experienced. This is not my only review and it's not going to be the last one. Although the field technicians have been top notch during the initial installation and subsequent upgrades... the customer service (dealing with anyone on the phone) in general is terrible and often downright rude. We've had issues with the original setup contract, ADT using the correct contact number, alarm service box updates and billing. This is a company resting on their laurels... just look at the ratings here. Apparently they could care less. We're switching to Cox. read more

I have been a customer for over 12 years. I had to relocate and that process was horrible because I was told several different things as well as my husband. They finally ended up taking money out of our account until we could give them the address of our brand new home that was being built after we offered to pay monthly while we were waiting for a house to be built. After unfortunately my husband signed a three-year contract with them we don't have the same service that we had at our other house because unfortunately he was not told that he needed to sign up for Plus. So they wanted to charge us more money to come out I reached as high as the corporate offices of customer service and basically they told me since they listen to the sales call and my husband had no idea after he told them that he had equipment here about the plus that we would have to pay the money. And we're stuck in a three-year contract don't ever go with ADT. read more

Wow, after reading the reviews, I realized that I made the right decision to look further after talking to ADT regarding their services. To simply obtain info and understand the system took talking to 5 people and spending over an hour on the phone, one person actually suggested that I have someone come out as I had too many questions, I requested she connect me to someone else, as I was not going to spend my time with someone coming out if they didn't want to answer simple questions on the phone, she connected me with someone else, I finally told this person that if I was having this much difficulty with obtaining their services I didn't want to know what I would need to do if I had a problem, I then hung up. My 83 year old mother who had been sitting in the room listening, suggested I call cox, OMG what a difference!!! Last night our Alarm starting going off while we were sleeping and it was 1 AM, so of course we thought someone had broken in and its me and my husband and we have a 6 month old daughter. My husband had me grab our daughter and hide in the closet while he want to see if someone had broken it. At this time the alarm had been going off for about 5-6 minutes. After my husband had gone downstairs to check what was going on he realized that the door had blown open from the garage and finally got the alarm turned off. At this time the alarm had been going off for about 6 minutes. ADT only reached out via text and never called or sent anyone out to the house to check on us. When we purchase the system the reason why we purchase it was the sales agent said after 3-5 minutes of the alarm going off that they would send out a armed security guard to verify we are okay, but that never happen. My whole family was so scared and while I was hiding in the closet with my 6 month old baby all I could think about is if something happen to my husband while he went to check on the house. When we reached out to ADT in the morning the agent was very rude and tried to say they tried calling both myself and my husband but neither us of has any missed calls and also said they don't send out anyone to check on the house which was not what was told when we purchase the system. We pay over 60$ a month for a service just to have a alarm go off and send us a text. Also the agent had said a rude remark when we advised we felt unsafe which was he would "pray" for us. We wanted to cancel our service but they tried saying we have the service until 2021 but we have a 3 year contract which was purchase in 2016. The customer service and response is ADT is ridiculous and there agent has so sympathy and are very rude, basically acting like they don't care. worst ever! i'm shocked that others haven't taken the time to rate this place! i had an alarm with cameras put in and i'm going to have to call to cancel. the tech was rude, kept answering his phone while we were talking and putting his finger up telling me to wait! so rude! i think i could have let that go if he actually did a good job, but he was a slob and drilled unnecessary holes in my walls and ceiling and then told me that they don't patch! to top it off, he couldn't be bothered explaining things to me slowly, he was talking so fast that when i went to ask him to repeat something, he would huff! the views from the cameras are terrible and he said that, that's as good as it's going to get. really? for the huge amount of money i just paid? i called customer service and got no where, so i found the local number and spoke to this tech's manager and he was worse! he said that, that's the tech he sends on all the camera jobs and there's no way there's a problem with him! wow! no wonder the tech was the way he was, his manager taught him to act that way! how are they in business if they treat customers like this!? use another alarm company! read more

BUYERS BEWARE!! The contractors selling ADT products and services will say anything to get you to buy. They offered the Ring product with my package but did not mention that you will not be able to view recordings after 30 days. After the "trial period" ends you will have to buy another subscription to view any recordings. What good is a camera if you can't view the recordings. Horrible. Andrew An, The installer came yesterday. He was 30 minutes late, after the 2 hour window. His work order did not include all that we had ordered. He ended up installing all. He did not give us our lawn signs. He explained the system to my husband briefly as my husband was leaving. When Andrew was leaving I asked him to please show me quickly how the system worked. He said "I showed your husband" I explained that my husband had left and I needed to leave and activate the alarm. I told him we just got robbed a couple of months ago and I was still shaken up so I would appreciate if he showed me really quickly. I asked him "do I press an on or off button?" He said "Do you see an on or off button? Do you think you press on or off if those buttons dont exist?" I let it go and asked the next question "what does chime do?" He replied "Really? You never heard the word? Do I have to explain to you what a chime is?" I said " I know what a chime is, but I don't know what this button does." He said "ok, listen carefully in silence..." And he opened the door and there was a chime sound. He said "Wow! There! Chime!" I explained to him that that did not clarify what the button does. Does it turn the chime on and off? Does it change from chime to voice alert of door open? He would not explain. I then realized that because he arrived at my house late and unprepared, he was probably in a hurry. I told him that the sales person had assured me that I could ask the installer all questions and that he would explain the entire system. I then asked how to turn on the alarm, do I press my code and then stay or away? He played word games again and made unnecessary comments instead of just answering my question. I continued being patient and polite. I explained to him that I have worked with computers for 22 years and if he showed me just one time how this worked I would understand, but that he was just not wanting to help. He leaned on the wall with a sigh and answered what the icons meant for police and fire fighters. When we got to the arrows I asked "what do I use these for?" He said "arrows. These are arrows. The one pointing left is to go left. The one pointing right is to go right" I told him that I knew what arrows were, but were there any common uses of the menu options that display in the panel that I should know? He said he didn't need to explain this to me. He did not even show me how there is a code you type if you are in distress. How to turn the alarm on or off. I finally had it. I understand some people have bad days. But I realized the person that sold me the system is not an ADT employee. This man, Andrew An is an ADT employee and if he thinks he can talk that way to customers is because his company allows it, and I don't want to do business with anyone disrespectful. I told him "Andrew, you are unnecessarily condescending and disrespectful. You have given me an attitude since the very first question I asked you. You are a company representative and as such your behavior and lack of respect reflects on your company. What could have taken 90 seconds has now gone on for 5 minutes and you haven't explained to me one thing yet. At this time I am asking you to leave my house. I will call my sales person and report you to her and to ADT. Leave my house" he said " I'm sorry, let's try again" I said "No. I patiently tried for 5 minutes and you kept giving me attitude. I don't need to tell you that we got robbed, that I understand computers, that I have to leave the house, that I know what a chime is and what arrows are... You needed to kindly explain the system to me and leave, but now I just want you to leave". He would not leave!!!!!!!! I almost pressed the police alert buttons!!!!! I said "leave. My house. Now. Stop talking." I also told him "if you have a mother I really hope you are kinder and more respectful to her than you were to me, if she ever has a question" I told him I was going to cancel the service that same day because of the list of all the issues I had now 1. Late 2. Incorrect work order 3. No lawn signs 4, extremely condescending 5. Would not leave my house. He finally left and I slammed the door behind him and said "A..hole" because I was shaking with frustration that I could not get this man out of my house and he knew I was alone!!!!!! I am extremely patient and give everyone the benefit of the doubt because I know things happen and some people are having a bad day, or are burnt out because they are answering the same questions all day. I have had an ADT security system in my home since 2000. I wanted cameras installed, which ADT Security told me they do not offer. I had a different security company install a second security system, just so I could have cameras around the perimeter of my home. At the time of installation of the new service, I was informed that my current ADT system was not sending signals to ADT. The installation tech explained that my phone line is digital and my ADT system only works with land-line phones. My telephone lines were switched to Cox 10 years ago. ADT failed to notify me that my system would not work on a digital line, nor did they notify me that they were not receiving a signal. Ten years, and not a single attempt was made to notify me that my system was not working. They were able to get my statement to me every quarter for payment, but somehow did not think it was important enough to notify me that my system was not working. For 10 years I've been paying for a security system that would have failed me had there been an emergency at my home. I called to cancel my account, I explained my situation and they said they would send a technician out to fix the system. Now that I want to cancel the service, they want to fix it. I had to speak with six different people just to cancel my account. I requested that the account be canceled immediately and they said I had to provide a 30 day notice and I would be billed for the security system through the 30 day cancellation period. Unbelievable! I've paid for a system 20 years, 10 of those years the system wasn't working and I have to pay for an additional 30 days!!!!! The customer support staff I spoke with were incredibly rude and told me it's my responsibility to make sure the system was working. I have never been so disappointed with a business as I am with ADT Security. read more

Be very careful with whom you speak with when calling ADT. Get the persons first name and ID number and job number for the service they are scheduling before you give them your payment information. And if they say they are going to email you an agreement email stop right there and hang up. We made arrangements to have an upgrade done and they charged our credit card and said they would send an agreement via email. They charged our credit card and never sent the agreement so we called the number on the debit on our bank statement which WAS ADT and they had no record of the conversation or the credit for the charge that our bank account was charged. Our Bank will be crediting us back the money charged and will prosecuting the person for fraud and ADT's customer service relations dept are looking into this and will be prosecuting the employee that is abscounding funds from their company. read more

Well, I will upgrade this review if my dealings with ADT ends up as I originally intended. After reading Yelp reviews of others, Im no longer optimistic, since they seem to have other complaints of a similar nature. This is a summary of what I find myself in the middle of with ADT: ADTs apparent practice: Apparently other customers, as was I, have been told a month to month contract is not available... Until the customer says they are not interested in service under an extended agreement. (Exactly what happened when I said no thank you to a 3 yr contract) At that time the Representative ADT has sent to your house makes a phone call for permission to make an exception. ADT approves this, in my case, I was given a 'rider' noting My service was month to month. 6 months later I called to discontinue my month to month service. ADT tells me that I would be charged for cancelling before 'The 3 year contract' was fulfilled. I remind ADT of my month to month agreement. ADT tells me 'Thats not possible because ADT does not offer month to month service' I reference the 'Terms and Conditions Rider' First I am told there is no such rider. I offer to fax it to ADT. The rude person on phone tells me he cant help me because as long as he has been with ADT, he has not heard of this. NEXT DAY: ADT calls to be sure I know that I have a credit that may be used when I restart ADT service. I thank him and share that at this point I am only requesting to discontinue my month to month service. I am again told I will be charged for ending my 3 year contract early. Again I explain I have a monthly contract and reference my month to month 'rider.' ADT acknowledges this contract rider is indeed signed and in my file. However this ADT representative tells me the ADT rep who signed it did not have authority to sign this rider. He further consoled me by adding, he was sorry but he didnt know what to tell me. It was not something he deals with. But all would be ok as soon as I re-signed up for 3 years with ADT for equipment (which we do not need) (Note to self: ask for the job description of ADP employee before speaking with any ADT rep). Soooo...my only option is to review my final bill from ADT and notify appropriate Consumer WATCH DOG TV station. To be continued.... Update: NO response or remedy from this company. Don't believe the lies of the sales agents if you live in Las Vegas. No police response until ADT guard confirms emergency...and it takes over an hour to respond. Customer service is horrible. After being on the phone for two hours and explaining what happened six times to six different people, i had one person apologize. Save your money. ADT offers no protection. I moved from one home they said I could not take all the equipment that I paid for and would give me a credit toward my new home and would transfer my contract. I moved to my new home had a couple issues with internet and delays on install do to them making appointments and having to change them because they were booked or they wrote down wrong time. Now I am in my new home found out that I am in collections with a law firm because they did not transfer my account they cancelled that one and signed me up for a whole additional 3 years. I am currently fighting the law office which also said they get this a lot as the local dealer and corporate fail to communicate properly. I have reached out to my sells rep and his boss about the extension of contract with out my knowledge and said sorry their is nothing they can do that I can pay an 1800 cancelation on the new extended contract. My new system with the camera that they talked me into for motoring fee of $60+ per month sucks and keeps giving off false alarms. I have called corporate they just keep apologizing saying they will escalate its just a mess. 0000000STARS!!! Horrible!!!! After being burglarized, I stupidly thought the best company to contact was ADT to set up a system. The rep was nice until he found out I had an internet deal. He insisted it did not apply to us until I brought it up on my computer, actually argued with me! So, he installed our system, then told us 'we couldn't use it if our dog was in the house because she is over 50 lbs. Bye!' I guess our coupon was his commission. Have not used the system since it was installed 2 years ago and yet they refuse to stop taking our money. They have ripped me off so badly and the only time I was able to reach someone while I was out of work and my husband's hours were cut down, living off of his SS, I was told that was our 'tough luck', finally they put a supervisor on the phone and she said she could off set us paying for 3 months, but that was it and she meant it. 3 months passed and it came directly out of our checking account with a $30.00 increase!!!!!!!!!!!! I have not been able to reach anyone but a recording on any phone number, including ADT's 800 numbers, because I am not buying, I want to cancel. Now, I can't even get a date on my 'end of contract.' Horrible customer service!!! After having the system for a year and having multiple customer service issues with false alarms, we decided to cancel our service when we moved. When they came to uninstall the system from our rental, they didn't do the job right and I had to finish the uninstall and shut down the system myself after waiting on hold for over an hour and no one even offered to have someone come back out to compete the job. When I called to cancel I was advised I had to pay 75% of the remaining contract balance despite my frustrations with customer service. But wait, they did offer me a $50 visa card. When I purchase a security system I want reassurance that I'll be taken care of and I absolutely have not had that. Got my home in 2012. As I was moving in an ADT rep caught me outside. He LIED to me and said that due to the location of my house (2nd house down from a main street where my adt sign is visible advertising) I qualified for an extra special offer that hes sent to only these select homes to get thousands of dollars of free equipment. He quoted me at 53.99 (went up automatically to 57.78) I later found out that my "special offer" had nothing to do with my house but was actually the offer that they were giving ANYONE that wanted their services! Was NOT told that it was going to be a 3 year contract and the equipment was so outdated. The rep didnt sign any of the receipts or put his name on my paperwork where it indicates rep signature and name. I work in a casino that shut down a dept and terminated an entire staff of ppl. I never used the system ONCE since my roommates n I work different hours. I called and asked politely if there was anything I could do to cancel. They gave terrible service and zero sympathy, then I just happened to mention my situation and they very rudely said "oh you lost ur job? Ok well why didnt you say that? What do you want?? Here, ill give you a month off, there!" He would NOT allow me to speak to a supervisor! Every time I call them they sound like they dont freaking care no matter how nice I am! **COST OF CANCELLATION IS MORE THAN PAYING TILL END OF CONTRACT** Finally Got 4 months left (231.12) The cost of cancellation is 260.01!! For fee of termination!!! So if youre only a year in or so, imagine how much thatd be. Which is why I guess theyll tell you anything to sign up and how they make a profit whether they provide decent service or not. Spent about $2,000 on something outdated, low quality and that I never even used and got deceived into getting. I hate them so much, feel completely ripped off my hard earned money! Cannot wait to switch to VIVINT!!! Definitely did my research and theyre 100x's better. Only bad reviews they hav is due to having door to door reps (who likes any door to door anyone?) but theyre actual systems are AMAZING, hi-tech and automated to be controlled via smartphone, sooo much more worth it and phenomenal service! Adt has missed 5% of alarms (wtf) and vivint has missed 0! I've been in contract with ADT for almost 2 years and never had an issue simply because my alarm had never gone off. I have motion sensors that I set at night and one night they were set off. When ADT finally called, they told me they did not send anyone to my house because I did not let the alarm sound for over a minute or something like that. It was going off for a good 45 at 11pm at night. ADT could not tell me which sensor went off because the tech that installed it wired all 3 sensors to the same zone. They proceeded to interrogate me about whether I set off the motion sensor and then told me the system must have malfunctioned. What? I set it every night for over a year and it never went off. Suddenly, when it goes off, it is a malfunction? They had me run 2 system tests to find an issue that was not present. We told them that we wanted answers and needed someone to come out and assign each sensor to its own zone. They said someone would come to my house in 5 days. Long story short, ADT is horrible. They keep increasing my monthly rate and have done nothing for me. I am in the process of finding a new company because I do not feel safe, monitored, or respected by this company. read more

I called and purchased a system from an ADT authorized dealer (Defender's protect your home) 866-839-7848. No one tells you that they are not ADT, but they represent themselves as if they are. They offer a 100.00 rebate for purchasing the equipment. They are supposed to send you via E-Mail a form to complete to receive your rebate. I called them repeatedly and ADT and received the constant run-a-round. The system had a problem and ADT did send someone out and they did fit ix and tried to charge me a fee for it breaking. Did not even have it for 5 months at that time. I called again today as the battery that was to last 3 years in my outside alarm stopped working after 8 months. Again they attempted to charge me. Both times I was not charged after speaking with a manager. Had I broken something, I would have no problem paying for it, but in this case it was a battery with a 3 year life-span and a connection in my garage which we almost never use and is up high, so when the install was done it was to close and after a couple openings and closings it rubbed itself apart. You have a bunch of other options and I would suggest you chose them as they are less expensive and will preform better. read more

As I look at the other reviews It only made it that much easier to write a review on my experience. My wife and I just bought a home and while renovating I had a rep from ADT at my door EVERYDAY! I had contractors in my home painting, installing, and having tile and new carpet put in. Everyday they offered me a new package that only (of course) got better and better and hard to refuse. What sold us was they specifically said we didn't have a contract. I would've of NEVER signed if they did. So as I'm painting and doing things in my home two men stood in my kitchen filling out paperwork. When it was all done they went over a few things with us and had us sign. Now, it's indeed our fault for not reading the paperwork. But I trusted them. We just bought a new house, and had a lot going on. So just this week my wife called to talk about our monthly bill. Seems to keep changing and adding new fees. So we call to talk to someone in customer service and she was quick to let us know that they didn't have anything to do with the charges because it was sold to us by a 3rd party and that we had to reach out to them. So we call them and we were told that we would get a call back from a manager as soon as one came into the office. The next day we received a call from a woman that said she was the VP of ADT and that the paperwork we signed clearly stated that it was a 3 year contract. Now being that I've worked in customer service for 17 years as a store manager, I would NEVER make a customer feel nor talk to a customer the way she did to us. She said we needed to deal with the 3 years or pay the 75% of the bill and we can no longer do business with them if we wish. She was rude, condescending and straight out disrespectful. ADT is a big company and you would think that they would have the decency to speak to their customers with respect. She told us we can call whoever we wish and write whatever reviews we would like. She wouldn't even hear out our question. If I treated my customers in this manner the company I work for wouldn't have me work for them. I'm still in shock in which the matter was taken care of, and I won't be stopping here. I will be making phone calls because I do have the names of the reps We spoke with. Now I understand why I was told not to do business with ADT but the reps that came to my home were nice and friendly. It all sounded good. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! they transfer you from department to department and they do not do anything to help you out. I spent hours with them on the phone the past month, employees are very rude and they do not care. my first year with them was good , after I transferred the service to a new house they increased the price by almost 20 dollars without letting me know until they sent me the contract by email. After I called them they said the had to add more things and the area I live in charged more, so I was like fine as long as my kids are safe. They left the alarm on silent, I had a security jump from the back yard inside my house because they got the signal the alarm was on but my mother could not hear it because it was silent. The security scared my mother that was home alone with my kids. I called adt and they fixed that. A few weeks later we went to sleep after we turned on the alarm with the from sliding door open. I do not know how we could turn on the alarm with a door open. So I called them again and they sent a technician that could not fix the problem. My sister has a video of the door open with the alarm on. After that I moved to another place and did not transfer the alarm because of they were not protecting my family like they should have. they said that the only way I could get out of the contract without paying fees was for them to come to my house 3 times if I had a problem. So put your family in danger 3 TIMES!!! then we will cancel your contract. After I gave my 30 day notice on oct.2, the alarm went off on the new home owners on nov.6. they called me and I told them I did not live there anymore and I had already given my notice, well they transferred me to like 10 different employees to finalize the cancellation, many of them very rude. The last employee said I had 30 days to pay 1000 dollar cancellation fee or they would ruin my credit by sending me to collection. STAY AWAY from them!!!!! read more

ADT has the worst customer service that I have ever been forced to deal with! I recently moved into a new house and on the day that I get my keys, I should feel nothing but glee. ADT was sure to take that away from me. I recently bought my house in which I had to go through probate court which means that the previous occupant passed away. When I finally received my keys, I was thrilled to start moving in. While cleaning up, the alarm system that the previous occupant installed went off and asked me for a security code. I called ADT and explained my situation and they asked me for the code. Obviously, I just got the keys to the house that took months to buy, why would I have the code? Then she asked me for the emergency contact numbers, why would I have the emergency contact numbers for the previous occupant. I asked her what I need to do to get this resolved and she said that she didn't know and then silence. OK well then I guess I will always have an alarm going off forever. So to this blatant show of apathy, I asked to speak to the manager on duty. I waited 10 minuted for the manager to hang up on me. So now even more upset I call again and they transfer me to the same technical support where I explain my situation again and asked to talk to the manager and asked them to expedite the wait as not my alarm is going off and I am sure that my new neighbors already hate me so and at this point, I have to go to work so now my alarm is going off and now I have to leave. The manager then comes on and then hangs up on me again! Now I am livid! I called ADT again! I went off on the operator as asked to speak to no one other then the manager. Some guy named Lavel finally gets on the phone and asks me for the same information. After reiterating why I wouldn't have that information as the previous occupant died, he then asked me to send him a death certificate. So let me get this straight, as a new owner, you want me to call my realtor to call the seller's realtor to call the executor of the will to get a death certificate to a stranger that they don't know so ADT is happy. How dare you! What an insult to this man and his family. I then told him that this is a silly request and what else can be done. This apparently stumped him and he didn't know so I told him that I doubt that this is the first time in ADT history that this has ever happened and that there must be something that can be done so he transfers me to billing. The billing agent who is clearly 12 years old answers the phone so cavalierly. I asked if the "manager" filled him in on whats going on and he alluded to not really. I then questioned that and he could tell that I was pissed and then he said well they told me a little bit. So I asked him what he needed to prove that I owned the house? He then said that I should have proof. If you have ever boughten a house, you know that you fill out a stack of paperwork about 3 inches tall with you whole life story. As I do not want my identity stolen, I am not going to blindly send 100's of pages to a teenager at ADT billing so I asked him what I specifically needed to send. He then said hold on, without asking me if he can, he just said "can you please hold" and click. Before I knew it the phone was answered by a sale agent who had no idea what was going on so now I get to explain my story AGAIN! The sales agent was the most helpful as he provided me a work around as he was the only person who listened and answered like a human.
