I brought in my fathers ford bronco to get a timing pointer installed and a sensor in the engine air filter got charged almost 200 dollars took them 3 days and they called me at almost closing time to pick up truck and when I left and got home they did no work all they did was zip tie a hose going to engine air filter took it back next day took then 2 days they put sensor in but no timing pointer took it again and finally they put it in the short Hispanic man in office also took me to the side and charged me cash and didn't want to give me a receipt be careful with this shop they try to scam you read more

After 6 months i finally get to speak the truth about this place. My dad brought his Lexus IS 350 for an oil change so after all its done...2 days later,i was driving the car on the freeway when the oil warning came on saying oil needed. How the fuck could that happen when 2 days ago, we took it in for a synthetic oil change? So we went back here just to find out..... THEY DID NOT PUT ANY OIL OR IN OTHER WORDS, ROBBED US. Not just that, the car was burning and running bad. I cannot believe what happened here!!! This place would've cost us more to get it fixed because its a total neglect! It sucks that I have to post an update but with time, things change. I have been bringing my cars here for over 20+ years. Within the last couple years or so, this business changed owners. i took my car a couple months ago to check the engine. Drove the car in and they couldn't help me. So I go in to pickup my car and that lost my keys. Didn't try to figure out what happened to them. Just went on with there day. So I get my wife to bring my spares and guess what? The damn car won't start. I bring it up to the mechanic and he says well it started earlier and that's it. I was fed up and I had to get it towed away to a real mechanic. I'm disappointed that I need to find a new shop but I will never go back here again. read more

I would not recommend this place to anyone, especially not anyone who is unfamiliar with cars. These people tried to play me for a fool, probably because I'm a young woman who they assumed knows nothing about cars. I went here to get a simple tune up. After several hours, I received a phone call from Xavier, the mechanic who told me I needed to replace the fuel pump, the coolant tank and also get a tune up. He told me the total amount for all three would be $900! This sounded a little suspect to me, so I decided to pick up my car and get a second opinion. Upon arriving to pick up my car, the mechanic Xavier repeatedly asked if I was sure. When they pulled my car out, he pointed out that my car was making a strange shaking noise, a noise it didn't make prior to taking it in to them. He tried to scare me into thinking my timing belt was about to break. When I took it to another mechanic, he pointed out that the casing around the timing belt had been taken off and not properly put back on. This is what caused the shaking noise that Xavier pointed out. Basically he was trying to scare me into paying $900 for them to "fix" my car when all I needed was a tune up. I wouldn't trust this shop anymore. The way they treated me was extremely unethical. If they did this to me, they probably do it pretty often. read more

Left my car off here for a second go around at a battery light problem. Hoping for the best.

I had my high mileage engine replaced with a "new" used engine and also had them diagnose and fix why my car would not start. The whole process took 10 days before I got my car back. When I picked it up at the end of the business day and drove home I noticed that something was wrong. The car felt like the auto transmission was constantly in 3rd gear. When I accelerated from a stop, it accelerated very, very slowly and I noticed that the transmission was not shifting. I also noticed that my back seat was out of its place. Apparently they removed the back seat cushion to access the fuel pump but did not put it back in it place with the seat belt latches put back in their respective holes. I brought the car back the next morning to have the acceleration problem fixed and also asked that they fix the back seat cushion. They called later that morning and told me it was ready. A fuse that had something to do with the transmission had blown and they replaced it. I picked it up later that and went home. I should of checked at the place but didn't. They didn't replace my back seat cushion as I had asked. I did it myself. I took about 5 minutes. As the other reviewer said, they were nice. But as for professionalism, I disagree. I'm can't even assume that they test drove my car after they finished with the engine replacement because if they had they would have immediately felt the transmission problem that I did. I feel that they simple started the car in place to make sure that the engine started and ran ok. In addition to that, they did not give the car a look over before releasing it it me to ensure that the removed seat cushion was put back in its place. Nor did they fix the cushion the 2nd time when I pointed it out to them. I will not go back and I have not and will not recommend them to anybody. This repair was earlier this year (March 2012). I'm a Norwalk resident so this place is close to my home.. Great location! The establishment is clean. Everyone seems to know what their job are so it's a smooth operation. I walked in with my sister to get a quote and they were nice and helpful broke the down the prices for us. The prices were reasonable, so we went for it! We came back the same day to take care of the oil change and the smog check! Everything was quick and simple. I felt at ease with this shop, I rarely get that vibe from a MECHANIC! The last time they changed my front brakes and oil change for a long trip and I got stranded in the middle of no where. I've gone to this and ONLY this mechanic since I was 18 and started taking my car on my own. Shaun has always been great but is no longer there. I wish I could find out where he's working. Because there is this idiot that works there on Saturdays and he is VERY DISHONEST!!! Their $89.00 brake special advertised, cost us $173.00. No phone call even to tell us about the "Extra labor" they had to do. He said he could have charged us by the hour but if he did it would have been more. Little did the guy know, we drove by about 45 mins after they started and the car was down parked in a parking spot. But we had other errands to run. He told my husband the labor took 2+ hours. When I called his BS, he said oh they found out there was a cap on the brake they had to replace... While it was parked? NEVER GOING BACK. You lost a customer of over 20 years and I'm taking my family with me to find Shaun. And there's a lot of us. Some even that come out as far as LB and Riverside County. Just plain dishonest. One of my radiator fans went out which was the cooling fan for the ac. Brought it in after I had checked all fuses and connectors from the fans. I suspected either a fan relay or cooling fan switch. Regardless I just went it for an electrical diagnosis on a saturday which at the time they estimated a $75 diagnosis fee told them id be back. Went monday and they estimated me at $45 for the diagnosis. Wow what $30 difference all of a sudden. They fixed the problem the same day, they called me and said it was the cooling fan switch which I suspected but today tuesday morning when I picked it up they changed their story to the cooling fan fuse. Before I went in I told them what I had already looked at. All fuses were there and the cooling fan fuse was not blown. Moral of my circumstance they were just dishonest and it wasnt about the price more of just being honest of what the issue really was. Apparently a fuse is nearly an hour to work quote their hours worked on the car. First thing mechanics do is always check fuses. They change stories faster than women change clothing so fellow yelpers be cautious and always ask exactly what was worked on your car and gets the facts the first time read more

This is a very honest auto shop with very reasonable prices. I also bought my car from Mike who owns the place and I drive to all the way from Riverside to Advance Auto care any time I need car maintenance because their prices are so great and I completely trust them to not rip me off. I went to a Big O' Tires to get my oil changed and they tried to sell me on a bunch of work on my car which would've costed me a fortune. I then bought my car to Advance Auto Care and they honestly told me what was actually needed and what wasn't and I paid a fraction of the cost I was quoted at Big O Tires. I've been coming to Advance for a long time. Like most people, I was introduced to this place through my dad to come and see Sean, who was running this place and took really great care of people. So when Sean left there was obviously some concern in regards to whether my car would continue to be taken care of and would that trust still be there. This week was not a good week for my car. Check engine sensor issues, brake pad replacement, a cracked serpentine belt, it was all happening in the span of a week and I ended up coming back 3 times in one week. The third time I came back it was because the front brake rotors were causing shaking on my steering wheel and I was frustrated and upset. All the years I've come here never have I had a week like this for my car. Saturday was their busiest day and I needed my car asap to tend to other things family and work related. Ray understood my frustration and he promised that he would take care of my car. He said he would keep the shop open a bit later and that no matter what he would get the rotor issue fixed. He test drove it after to make sure there was no shaking and went out of his way to pick me up once it was fixed. I waited all day but understably Saturday was their busiest day. What mattered to me was that the car got fixed and the cost wouldn't be unreasonable. It was fixed and the cost for the new rotors were fair. For anyone who might feel uncertain or unsure if your car will be in good hands with Sean being gone, all I can say is talk to Ray or Nam. They knew Sean very well for a long time and understands Sean's way of caring for customers and their cars. That means being honest about what issues your car faces, and trying their best to give at least a decent price for parts and labor. As long as this level of customer care continues, Sean's legacy will continue and I will continue to be a loyal customer. Note: Customer care from Ray and Nam is the reason I'm giving this a positive rating. As far as mechanics go it would have been better if both sensor issues were discovered at the same time and not on two different occasions, and if the rotor and brake pads issue were detected at the same time. read more

I came in to get my oil changed (this is where my parents come. I live in San Diego and was here for a visit). I also had him check to make sure all was well with my car. I bought it used and have had it for just over a year so I wanted to make sure everything was okay. The owner has a great personality and is incredible! Not only were they open on Saturdays, they looked at my car, gave me an estimate in a timely fashion and had my brakes repaired before the end of the day. It was great that the estimate I received over the phone was upheld and my repair didn't cost a penny over it. They also rotated my tires and topped off my engine oil free of charge! Our vehicle broke down on the 605 and we were able to get it safely to advance auto care. Upon inspection of our car Nam was able to advise of the cause. He did not charge us to look at the vehicle. He also was kind enough to hold our vehicle overnight at no cost till we were able to decide whether to have it towed home in the morning. My boyfriend took his Mercedes for schedule B service oh his car about little more than a week a go on a Saturday. The service plus spark plugs, flushing radiator fluid was $300+. The problem came when the car was return it came with a big chunk of water leaking from a water hole that was cut off. Mechanic stated they had missed it in the inspection. If the leak had been there before taking it there it would of had been noticed considering the about of water it was coming out. This shop didn't take no responsibility in fixing their mistake and wanted to charge my boyfriend for it. They were about to close so didn't want to fix it for him at the moment and suggested he left the car there. My boyfriend was left stranded with the car and had to call someone else to help him fix it outside of the shop because the mechanic told him he couldn't drive it in that condition. read more

I went in to diagnose an issue I was having with my car and was quoted $75 just to look at it and I would have to leave it for a few hours since they claimed to be very busy. I declined and went to another shop a few blocks away and they diagnosed my issue for free in minutes and repaired the problem for $40. This place is definitely not worth it. read more

This place is awful first off there is only one guy that knows how to operate the credit card machine, so if he is busy sorry you have to wait my wife had to wait 25 minutes. I took my car for a smog check and the car failed because of a check engine light so I asked them if they could fix it they would need to do a diagnostic test for $49 which I agreed to. The next day I was called and told it would be $200 to fix it. I told them go ahead and fix it this was on Friday Morning. I asked them when it would be ready and I was told at 2:30 I was leaving town so I asked them if I could leave it till Monday and pick it up in the late afternoon on Monday. I was told that would be fine, I came in on Monday at 4 PM and the car was not ready Javier told me a part did not come in and the car was not ready he was apologetic and he would try to get me a discount, picked up the car on Tuesday and it was finally fixed but no discount was told they would give me a discount on the next repair. Of course I will not get that discount though because I will never take a car back to these people. read more

Horrible service. I dropped off the car at 1030 a.m. They claimed that the brakes would be done by 1215. I came back at 1 p.m. And they said that they couldn't find the brake pads from 3 warehouses. They said it would be done by 3. It wasnt done until 430. I wasnt able to pick it up until 5. They wanted me to leave the car until monday to complete a one hour brake job fir pads and rotors. It would have been nice if they called me to let me know that the expected finished time had changed. For rotors only and labor, they were gonna charge me over $200 because they couldnt get the brake pads that they offered. I had to pay over $400 instead of the agreed amount of roughly $300 since I couldn't leave the car at the shop over the weekend and they gave me the wrong quote. They searched my car for the rim key and didnt put my stuff back in the center console. I dont see any reason to come back. I will never return again. read more
