UPDATE: I owe this store an update because this situation ended much better than I expected, and I'm so embarrassed. I did purchase a battery less than two years ago and it has a three-year warranty, so I was frustrated when it failed and the store's initial testing showed it was fine. I contacted corporate and was told I could get it replaced. When I came in today, I realized the receipt I had given them was actually for the battery in my VAN, not my car. They couldn't find the car battery purchase in their system either, so I was prepared to leave empty-handed. Instead, the store manager, Dax, looked at the date on the battery and decided to replace it for me anyway. He absolutely didn't have to, and I really appreciate him taking care of me. read more

I have to give credit and thanks to the customer service I received when I came into this store on Thursday evening at 6:30 pm. First I was greeted with a hello and how can I help you today. The young man was very friendly and welcoming. He assisted me in finding the battery cap shims I was looking for. The gentleman and I had some small talk and it was totally a reverse of what I thought would happen. Typically during this time with the threat of Covid-19 a rush to get a customer in and out quickly was what I was expecting but instead with the social distancing guidelines and preventions that was not the case. After a few minutes of conversation a young lady came into the store, another employee which she also engaged in conversation. She even recalled my girlfriend coming in earlier that week looking for a specific item for my car. There is something about the south and the employees that are hired by these companies. The down to earth, professional, kindness and caring personalities they posses really is appreciated. Coming from the North it's a little different I guess where everyone is in a rush. Great job to these two employees. I wish I got there names but I hope the managers or their superiors read this and give them a notable thank you for great customer service for a job well done. read more

Another business on Racetrack Road that keeps us all in our little area. While there is a competitor a little north on San Jose and then a couple more just within two of miles north of it, this opened up smack dab in the middle of of our community. If I was stranded and needed to walk or ride a bike for some parts, this is definitely the closest. As long as their prices are in line, this will probably be my default for buying minor parts for our vehicles. Their permanent signage on the door states they close at 9:00 pm Monday thru Saturday, 8:00 pm on Sunday but there is a handwritten sign that lists their closing time at 8:00 pm Sunday thru Thursday. Maybe this is a temporary thing or they are still ramping up while the area gets accustomed to having this conveniently in the area. I'm sure having Sun Tire and Tuffy as their neighbors works both as a pro and a con in some cases but to me they are a welcome addition to the neighborhood. read more

First impression if this store was Bad. What's wrong with this people? They are on business and don't care about people that come cross their doors? I came out at this store and asked for a Gold Cart Batteries and the first guy look at me and send me to another guy that was weird (rude) whatever you want to described than him, both of them didn't greeting or asked polite (nice) what I need it, than I nice told the second guy that first look at me from top to bottom and treat me the way that he really have no clue what I was referring to, when I did mention Golf Cart Batteries that I'm looking for . On my brain came in!!! Am I on the wrong place? Did they ever heard about batteries? It just seems that what I was asked it wasn't part of their vocabulary. And just for you know, I've been bought batteries before and didn't have no problem on communication, wow. Definetly it'snt a reason to come back at this store at all, right now I know that's why this place most of the times are empty. Again: No customer services = No Business Good luck. read more

Because Advanced Auto Parts was the only parts store in my area to have the battery I needed I purchased a battery ($200) for my Hyundai and later in the week I brought it back as the current battery still held a charge (it turned out to be the solenoid). I spoke to Debra/Debie or something, she mumbled a lot. She told me I could not return the battery and walked away. So, here is the issue. One, this may be the worst I have ever been treated at a retail store. No, "gosh, I am sorry but..." or "I understand, and I regret the situation, but..." Just "we don't take battery returns." And she walked away to whatever stocking job she had been doing. Simply horrible customer service. Second, I would have been fine with a re-stocking fee - even an explanation as to why a battery may not be returned prior to my buying this battery. (I was unaware of any, and still am, of any policy to this effect). Leason learned. I always use O'Reilyon San Jose because they are always friendly and helpful. Next time, I will wait for O'Reily to order a part, save $200 and fix my auto issues without a huge headache and bad service. After a battery blow out (blue gunk venting from the positive terminal and no tools or gloves at hand) I visited this location and was more than impressed. Debbie is a car parts queen: obviously well experienced, all the tools necessary at hand (she even used a breaking fluid from her personal car!). Do not recommend. I had an awful experience at this location today. I had been having issues with my car battery over the past two days. When I got to the store, I explained that I confirmed prior to coming that I had six months left on the three year warranty and the battery I needed was in stock. The woman working grabbed a battery testing machine, tested the battery, and told me that the battery was not bad, it just needed to be charged. I then asked how do I go about charging my battery being that my car would not start. I asked if I could buy a charger there and she pointed to an area with items in the shelves not offering any assistance or recommendations. Another associate then saw that I was clueless as to what I was looking at when I chose something that was not a battery charger. He then showed me my options and explained the differences. I purchased the charger for $80 and went out to my car to try to charge my battery. Frustrated because I needed an extension cord to get the charger plugged in, I went back inside to ask for help being that I was stranded. When I asked for help they stated due to company policy they were unable to assist me. I was completely shocked at the complete incompetence and disregard for my situation. I let them know I had never been treated this way at an Advanced Auto Parts. I originally purchased the battery at another location and they were incredibly helpful, which is why I was even more taken aback by this experience. The woman then told the other associate to go jump my car. I was shocked and asked why their company policy allowed them to jumpstart my car but not help me understand how to use the car charger I had just purchased from the store. It made absolutely no sense. Fortunately, there was a nice mechanic from Mavis next store that was walking by. He voluntarily took the time to explain to them why the battery tested the way it did (car had just been turned off and had residual charge), and how to properly test it. He then went and got his tester and showed the woman and the other associate that the battery was dead and by looking at the acid that had leaked from the battery he could tell the cell was bad. The woman then proceeded to test it again with her equipment and it said my battery needed to be replaced. She left and then returned saying she had spoken with Derek and we they were going to honor the warranty and replace my battery. Turns out the battery charger has to be charged first before you can even use it so I will be returning it to get my $80 back. I also will not be back to this location and will be going to the new Auto Zone down the road going forward. read more

I went up to this particular advance auto parts because it was closest to my home and I've been there a number of occasions with zero issues. I've never had a bad experience at any of the advance auto parts and honestly never thought that I would ever have to write a negative review on one of the stores. However this trip and I was not only treated with disrespect but also firsthand witnessed two of the employees mocking people from the neighborhood and One of the employees actually say "well you know how the people from these neighborhoods are" Trust me, I know what it's like to work in a retail store. Customers can be rude, impatient and down right demanding. However these two employees were so disrespectful and so full of hate. They give people in retail and particularly Advanced auto parts, a bad name. I was so disgusted by the tone of their voice and the comments that they were making that I actually left without buying anything.... instead I chose to drive 10 more minutes down the road to O'Rileys To get what I needed. Managers and owners take note.-These employees are not worth keeping employed if they can't treat/speak to your customers with respect and dignity. read more
