We installed…read morethe engine ourselves, never opening the actual engine because it would void my 90 day warranty. We deleted the EGR and the PCV line that burns old oil in the intake (nothing that would prevent my car from starting). I towed my car to a mechanic friend who assured me everything was hooked up properly and said it's a timing issue. I had my car towed to them Monday December 30th, and they told me they got codes for my EGR (which we will get because it's been deleted) as well as misfires on cylinders 2 and 3 coils. When asked if I could come up and and remove the intake and swap the coils, I was told I don't have to remove the intake (I'm a girl, I'm sure they think I know nothing about cars or engines) to swap the coils. When I got there they refused to give me my key because I had a "bill to settle." Not once in the 4 times I talked to them in less than 24 hours was I told that I would be charged for anything. Mike assured me that they had checked the timing (which was impossible in the amount of time they were actually "working" on my car. Mike told me if I got a wrecker to tow it away, he wouldn't charge me. So I did. Yesterday January 6th, I had my car towed to another mechanic to get a third opinion. He knew immediately upon startup that my car is out of time and was able to verify by taking the oil cap off and could physically see the chain slapping because it is loose. I called A1A this morning to tell them what I had learned. I was informed that I would have to pay to have the work done because Jay "doesn't think it's the timing." And that it may be bad wires or a bad ECM. They refuse to check the problem that SHOULD BE covered by warranty because we did a "butcher job" putting the engine in which is a complete lie. All because we deleted the EGR and PCV they won't do their jobs. So now I am paying a mechanic who actually knows what they are doing to fix the timing. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS! They are 100% a rip off and have poor business practices and treat customers like garbage.

So I called back after 10 mins hoping someone else would answer so I can ask to speak to a manager and he answers so I say "oh its you, im good" and hang up.....so he starts playing on my phone calling back repeatedly back to back after I answer and he say nothing, so I call back and he sarcastically say "how can I help you, I have your location and phone number" So I pulled up and filmed him to let him know I will be reporting him to the higher ups and posting him online for being racist and harassing me through the telephone and abusing his power as an employee at advance auto...he proceeds to call the police and told them I wont leave the store and that im "harassing him" when I have it all on video of me telling him im leaving and I yelled so the police could here im leaving and that he only called them because im exposing him harassing me. This is narcissistic behavior and he should be fired!!!!!!

I was thoroughly impressed at the level of detail the gentleman who explained to me why batteries go bad and made it so easy to understand exactly what often goes wrong. Before I even got into the building, one of their staff ran to help get ready door for me. The following day, I step foot in the building I was immediately greeted and assisted. They track everything they do and effectively communicate not only with the customer but also the service technicians in the back working on various battery projects. I honestly cannot recall the last time I felt, not only welcomed, but waited on throughout the entire process of getting a new battery. These are good people that know what they are doing and are very courteous. The place is clean, organized and a distributor for Interstate batteries.
